Amanda Rodewald: Unbelievable service at an unbeatable price. Without a doubt the most straightforward experience I've ever had with an automotive shop of any kind. Speaking of straightforward though, read the business name thoroughly and carefully consider whether this is what you need; I've been there twice (through no fault of their own, I'm so auto-clueless that I don't even know what kind of inspection I need) and both times I wanted to cry for the poor gentleman getting brow-beaten by an irate customer who needed a service that they did not provide, all while standing under a sign that said "Inspections Only" in big red letters.Fortunately, an inspection was all I needed, and my wife's therapist happened to recommend this place to her as fast and trustworthy. That, they are... both times I went right about lunchtime, and if you discount the brief wait while the inspector finished his lunch (after asking me if that would be acceptable, no less) I was in and out in 20 minutes both times. Rumor had it that they'll perform an oil change now and then when business is particularly slow and they're particularly bored, but I didn't ask them myself so you might want to make sure that's correct.On the other hand, if all you need is an inspection, be it safety, emissions or otherwise, then this is where you want to be. They have no impetus to claim you need a front-end alignment or bust out a tail light while they're inspecting, because they're not going to make any money fixing it for you; in fact, it would just make more work for them, because they'd have to re-inspect it after you took it elsewhere for the repair. Of course, I'm not saying they're dishonest; I bought my car three years ago but could only just not afford the sales tax and licensing, so I had no need for dishonesty of any type. In the past, when I have needed to have something "overlooked" to get it past safety, I never had any problem finding a place that could be easily distracted by a $50 bill though... I doubt that this place would need to engage in such shenanigans though. I happily slipped the guy an extra $10 each time I went, just for being fast, friendly and up-front. The tip was certainly appreciated though, so maybe bring along a couple extra dollars in case you're as impressed as I was... and remember to bring it in cash, because they don't take cards, checks or first-born children in exchange for their services. Still, a stop by the ATM on the way is a small price to pay for amazing service. I'm actually looking forward to my next inspection... although admittedly not so much that I skipped the two-year tags at the DMV. That was because I didn't want to go back to the DMV, not because I didn't want to go back here.Service:Vehicle Inspection

Michael Hall: It is what it is. It's first come/first serve. You're going to wait. They're always busy. The guy who runs it is matter of fact and could be seen as surly, but he's just trying to get work done. They do a thorough inspection. They don't do repairs other than bulbs. That's why people come here. There's no scams or upsales. I don't know how they stay in business only taking in $36/car minus the sticker fees.

When he went to ask again he again turned to talk to someone else about cigarettes before we could ask where to move it to. I tried to get his attention a third time and before I could say anything he said he "couldn't wait to get to (our)car" because he had already asked us to move. Didn't get the test done but did see that employee pull someone's car in to their garage very quickly and carelessly. The tires actually squealed.

Ben Simpson: I bought a used 2004 Toyota 4Runner from Tom at Speedway. The rust damage to the frame was much worse than he let on, to the point of being dangerous. The plates that he welded to the frame were booger welded - done very poorly. The vehicle pulled to the left even after new tires and an alignment at a different shop due to the shoddy frame repair. He provided me with a safety and emissions inspection from Speedway upon purchase but I believe this was falsified - I took the vehicle to Parker’s Automotive, a shop near my home in Overland, the following day after purchase for an inspection, it passed neither safety nor emissions due to a broken parking brake and multiple failed O2 sensors. Less than 24hrs after purchase, the CEL and multiple traction control related lights were illuminated. The codes were obviously cleared before purchase. Tom was not honest in his evaluation of the vehicle he sold me and I paid the financial consequences because when I sold the vehicle, I was honest with the next buyer and took a loss. I will never use Speedway for any of my automotive needs and will encourage my friends and neighbors to avoid them as well.

All of which we were pretty sure were the issues ahead of time, but didn't point them out specifically, only the symptoms (I know enough to generally troubleshoot, but not confident enough to fix by myself; also I don't want to bias their work and diagnostics).They knocked out all of the problems at a very reasonable rate and didn't try any type of "shenanigans." You can't ask for anything more than that so I highly recommend them for auto repairs!

They called back two hours later saying it was repaired. The also noted that the tires were 7 years old and needed replacing and gave me a quote for the future. John Linwood Griffin: Dennis and George and the whole team took great care of me when I had car troubles while driving through St Louis. They went out of their way to get replacement parts from their vendor first thing in the morning and had them installed within a few hours so that I could get back on the road with minimal delay. There were no extra charges for squeezing me in on such short notice. The team even offered me free fountain drinks, offered to drive me anywhere I needed to be locally, and showed me menus of nearby restaurants where I could eat while I waited. They turned a stressful situation (far from home and unsure what to do) into a solved problem (quality work that the owner guaranteed for me with a nationwide warranty). I am very grateful to the entire staff and -- if I'm ever stuck again on the roadside in STL -- they'll be at the top of my list to call.

Woodward's took care of my flat which was a nail, all the summer construction, no structural damage, thank the lord. I asked for an oil change as well.
