Matthews Book Co: what do users think?
Emily Tran: If I could give a million negative stars, I would. I place my order on 2/11, was told it was shipped on the 16th, but was only able to get a USPS tracking number today on 2/24. In the image attached, they told me my package was stranded. The best apology would be better handling of packages for future use, a USPS tracking number given with every Alibris order for transparency which they fail to do, and better customer support handling as this is the second email I have sent to them but only this one was replied. Did my other email just get ignored or backlogged?! I needed this textbook urgently for an exam coming up for one of my important courses. I got to say, I am highly disappointed in their services and will probably never order anything from them nor recommend their services ever again. If I were given a USPS tracking number earlier and knew it was arriving a little later than expected, I would have found ways to borrow the book temporarily from a friend until mines arrived. Again, highly disappointed and angry.
J C: On more than one occasion now I have paid a high price for expedited shipping on in stock books from this company only have to been disappointed each time with the level of customer service and the missed deadlines of delivery on the items I ordered. Thank goodness I am almost finished my courses and for my remaining course I will not be using Matthews Medical Books.

Saint Louis University Bookstore: what do users think?
Robin Blount: Great resource for SLU supplies! If you like goodies..... Stop in here for a treat. Parking is a little concerning if you aren't familiar with the area. After a quick call to the store, I was able to locate a space.
Patrick Jones: Nice place!
Jessica Swagulski: Awesome customer service very informative of all the items that they carry. And always greet you with a smile
Finn Coughlin: They rip off students with misleading business practices! Very vague description of books you are ordering. Don't buy from here they rip you off. I thought I was paying for a book, but I got only an overpriced access code. I could have rented it from manufacturer for significantly less. SLU should be ashamed of how they conduct this business.
Haley Carlson: I am super frustrated because they are closed on Saturday and Sunday, yet they haven’t updated their google hours. AND when I called to make sure they are open, the message says to check the website for their hours. THE WEBSITE ALSO SAYS THEY ARE OPEN FROM 9-3 ON SATURDAY. It is really not that hard to update hours for the phone or website, and not waste people’s time driving there and parking. Whoever is in charge of managing this should really be replaced. The website is terrible as well which is why I wanted to go to the store in person.
zachary patterson: I have dealt with this bookstore for 2 years now (not by choice). If it’s an option for you, go somewhere else (such as Amazon). I have found new books on there as much as 100 dollars cheaper than the bookstores used for purchase. They are a straight rip off. I once purchased a dictionary for German, it’s missing an entire section. Should have seen the replacement they tried to give me. Today I spent 750 dollars on 5 books and a homework program. 3 of the books were used. They are all in very rough shape including damaged spines. (Normally I check, but they were packed and I was in a hurry) I wish I could say this is an isolated incident with them, but it’s not. My suggestions to the bookstore:1) quit price gauging, it’s both obvious and ridiculous2) work on your efficiency3) do not accept damaged books for resale or base price of the book for resale on its condition
Kristi Collins: I highly recommend this place to any book lovers.
Dennis Hood: Pretty much like any college book store. The vast area of spiritwear is very cramped so you will bump in to other customers. Two floors at least spreads the merchandise out, so actual book buyers can find what they are looking for in relative peace. The students working here were not particularly personable, desiring to talk to each other durimg the sales transaction and dismissing us when the sale was through. The store is easy to locate.
Crimson: Pretends to get lowest price for students, but straight up scams them. Automatically sets things to rent for a single semester even though many classes might use textbooks for the full year, almost doubling the price of the textbook. Will also buy new books for everyone, and then say that they tried to get them used.
Julia Cormier: Good service. Good SLU gear.
Fred Francis: I've ordered books from them a few times in recent years (only when they have a sale), and shipment has always been *very* prompt & the books have been packed very well.
Jazmin Welch: Sometimes they rude and like to rush a lot. But otherwise the selection and price is decent.
Elle G: The clearance sales rock my world!
Corey Walters: While a student here, the staff could be a little short and rude, especially during the rush at the beginning of each semester. I was given a used book when I paid new, and am not a fan of them automatically upgrading to new if used is out of stock. I sometimes used the book store for sheer convenience, especially when I needed book ASAP. Otherwise, I recommend going elsewhere for much cheaper books - and you can still sell them back to them if you want.
Ryan Town: Great place to pick up SLU gear

The Book House: what do users think?
Jim Peterson: This place is very nice! I've been here many many times and I love losing myself in there. Definitely worth visiting for sure.
Magic Michael Myers: I don't understand how this place is surviving. Y'all have used books priced as new. Every single book I looked at was cover price. Why on earth someone would shop here and not go online or Walmart even is beyond me. This is exactly why mom & pop stores fail. You can't over charge to simply stay in business. You're ripping people off just bc it's more convenient than waiting on a book in the mail.
Lori A: Great independent bookstore! You can find some amazing old books & everything new as well. Worth a stop!
P M: Great place! Very cozy, wonderful selection :)
William Krings: They have everything. Prices are good. The cats are nice.
Nichole Sullivan: This is possibly one of the best book stores I've ever been to, and that's saying something because I've been to a lot. What strikes me most about this store is how much it has, but how easy it is to find stuff. The vibe is fun, the layout is fun, the selection is amazing. The sci-fic section is huge. A must visit.PS there is a bonus store cat!
Spencer Hanning: Always a treat
Kelsey Schultz: The Book House is possibly the greatest bookstore I've been to in St. Louis. With the space that they have, they've crammed the most books per square foot I've ever seen. The shelves are full, so make countless stacks on the floor! Why not? Though I did trip a few times when browsing. Despite the over-full space, staff has maintained a very orderly setup. The Book House offers new and used books of every genre as well as collector's editions and very old volumes. There's comfortable seating throughout, rolling ladders that customers can use, and a bright children's section. On the wall leading downstairs are several author autographs after they presented or signed books for an event. I'm eager to go back and continue exploring.
BreakingRigsby Stl: Loved this place. It looks the way a book store should look. Like if the library of congress fit inside a one bedroom apartment. Wall to wall books. So many authors and subjects that i felt i was among old friends. Great place
Jessey DeVaney: Support local small businesses! I don't often purchase books these days but this place always has what I need and if they don't they are willing to get them for me!
Emily: Great selection of books! I could spend hours browsing the titles. Very reasonable prices for the St. Louis area
David L. Gill: Book buyer's dream! Great selection and friendly staff.
Simon: I bought a 1st edition cookbook advertised on their website. Took them a week to ship, and then they sent me a 2nd edition. Their only response was to return it at my cost. That ain't the cowboy way.
Matthew Weld: Cool vibe, and they certainly have a lot of books! The new titles are mixed in with the used books. I didn't find any good deals, and they didn't have the breadth of offerings in the Fantasy/SciFi section I was expecting with so many books due, I think, so repeats of many titles. I'm always on the lookout for independent bookstores, and will definitely be back to support them.
Tim Sisemore: Great new and used bookshop. Nice vibe
Danielle Zavradinos: If they don’t have it they’ll get it. Helpful staff, so many books!!
Amanda C.: Books and CATs! Doesn't get any better than that. Terrific selection of books as well.
albert ponciroli: Great independent book store. You want it, they most likely have it. New or used. Support the small guys so we have them in the future.
Grace Lawrence: I love a used book store and want to love this place. I've found it to be somewhat overpriced for used books, but love the atmosphere. However, I've learned they don't pay or give store credit for donated books. Yet they often charge near or full price. It doesn't feel ethical to take books for free and charge so much.
Shari Whay, St. Louis Realtor: I have always wanted to stop in here. Well today I was in Maplewood and I had time to stop in. Wow! There are soooo many books! I found it to be pretty well organized and was able to find the categories I was looking for. I have always loved independent bookstores and this one has new books, collectibles and tons of used books. The cookbook section was my favorite!
Nichole K: Good selection and neat vibes. My only negative would be about the giant stacks of books on the floor. Makes the space tighter which is mostly fine but it also makes me feel like I'm missing out on some of their selections. A book three stacks in and towards the bottom will never be seen.
