Connie S. Fein: The owners Jovanka and Knez are extremely rude. Knez was extremely condescending in front of other customers, and his sister needs a gold-plated broomstick. Totally entitled and cheap to the point of being dishonest about it. Their shop is dark, dingy and reeks of mold and mildew. You’re much better off buying and selling your books online. I wouldn’t set foot in their shop again.
Chaz williams: This place have all kinds of book you can even get new old stock if your lucky (I lucked up and got 6 brand new goosebumps books with everything in them crazy rare find) place is two floors and full and owner is great

Lindsay Trammell: One of my favorite book stores. If the woman is at the desk, she’s very friendly and helpful. However when the male is at the desk, he is incredibly rude and acts inconvenienced by customers. I left instead of buying what would have been over 100 dollars worth of jewelry because he was so rude to me. He needs to find a different job. Looking at reviews i am by far not the first person to say this about him- please get someone else to work at this place or I’m afraid i won’t be coming back to one of the best stores on Cherokee.
Jeff Baechle: I love Hammonds and I hope you will visit soon. A book lovers place to shop as well as there jewelry and antiques. The owners are smart, friendly and very engaged.
Annie Schmid: Absolutely a destination on Cherokee St. for a quiet, fun afternoon alone or with a friend. The owner(s) were incredibly welcoming from the start, and had great recommendations on an author I inquired about. It reminded me of the beautiful, narrow townhouse bookstores I went to in Oxford. So charming and tidy- but so much to see! We loved the selection of vintage prints displayed throughout, the costume jewelry, and of course all the books! There’s plenty of comfortable seating around the top floor to peruse through potential purchases. I can’t wait to come back.

They organize the materials via genres and sub-genres, they have a section for vintage/ antique books and a Mark Twain section!The Children's section is full of books that I loved when i was a kid, hard to find elsewhere books that I can't wait to share with my daughter.I feel like I could spend hours here, browsing books, admiring the old photographs and artwork they display in various places on both floors, or checking out the many other items kept on display at the check-out counter, and it wouldn't even be an issue. The shop owners encourage browsing and they made the already fantastic store feel even warmer and welcoming by treating us like we were old friends.I will definitely be returning.
Santa Torres: Interesting place if you like old books, they also have some really cool prints and lots of vintage jewelry and other antique knick knacks.

We got two good books and they recommended some cool stickers. If you have time and are I’m this area of town, definitely make it a point to check this spot out.

Sara Davis: Left Bank Books is a very classic book store. Nooks and crannies hold lots of popular titles and a basement space has used and new books on the shelves. If I see a book I like at a big book chain, I take a picture of it, then come here to buy it. Because some of the coolest, most thoughtful people I've ever met in retail work here, and, without them, the CWE would be a fraction as great. They're the heart of the neighborhood. Marie M: I visited the shop when I was in St. Louis on a work trip recently, and I love it. They had recently published hardcover used books at great prices. There’s also a great selection of new books in a variety of genres. While in the store, I think I spent about 5 minutes mentally trying to rearrange my suitcase so that I could bring more books home with me. I definitely recommend Left Bank Books and would love to visit again any time I’m in St. Louis.

Magic Michael Myers: I don't understand how this place is surviving. Y'all have used books priced as new. Every single book I looked at was cover price. Why on earth someone would shop here and not go online or Walmart even is beyond me. This is exactly why mom & pop stores fail. You can't over charge to simply stay in business. You're ripping people off just bc it's more convenient than waiting on a book in the mail.

Kelsey Schultz: The Book House is possibly the greatest bookstore I've been to in St. Louis. With the space that they have, they've crammed the most books per square foot I've ever seen. The shelves are full, so make countless stacks on the floor! Why not? Though I did trip a few times when browsing. Despite the over-full space, staff has maintained a very orderly setup.The Book House offers new and used books of every genre as well as collector's editions and very old volumes. There's comfortable seating throughout, rolling ladders that customers can use, and a bright children's section.On the wall leading downstairs are several author autographs after they presented or signed books for an event. I'm eager to go back and continue exploring.

I didn't find any good deals, and they didn't have the breadth of offerings in the Fantasy/SciFi section I was expecting with so many books due, I think, so repeats of many titles. I'm always on the lookout for independent bookstores, and will definitely be back to support them.

Esteban Azevedo: Wonderful local bookstore in Clayton, MO. The staff were friendly. Wide selection of books. And had a Photo Booth to take pictures of your books (we’ll come back to do that later).
Ryan Leigh Runyon: We had a bit of time after we got to town before we were able to check in at our Airbnb, and happened to stroll past Subterranean Books (while hauling our luggage and dodging rain showers). Along with a wide selection of books, there was a fantastic selection of bookish tees, tote bags, stickers, etc. The staff was lovely - even let us leave our roller bags at the front counter while we browsed, which was greatly appreciated.

Ruby Ficklen: Lovely local bookstore who either stocks or can order any book you need! Leave your drink at the door and sanitize your hands so you can get to browsing! Their new bigger location is accessible with a stroller, wide aisles, no steps. I usually browse the kids section and there’s a big variety of classics and newer titles. I am able to find books with characters of color (Ruth Forman, The Pinkneys, Anti-Racist Baby, Have I Told You Black Lives Matter?) which is important to me. I usually end up with a pile of 4-5 excellent titles that I narrow down to 1-2 to take home :)When I am ordering books online, I try to find them on subterranean’s website in order to support a local business. They can get pretty much anything. Shipping is slightly slower than Prime but it’s worth the wait to feel better about my purchase.

TG: They have 2 sections just for Christianity which is larger than the other Half Price Book stores in St. Louis. They have a nice return policy as well. I've used it multiple times. If you sell items, they will give you 50 cents if they don't want the items. The best feature is how you can call them and check if a book is in store or at another location. If it's at a St. Louis location, they will ship the book to the store for free. If at an out of state location, they will ship it from $2. You can also put books on hold for 3 days

I still hope they're doing well, maybe she was just having a bad day I don't know her personally.
