Best Western Independence Kansas City: what do users think?

Tom: The hotel it's self is very nice. The first night we stayed, I'm pretty sure someone tried to break into our car because the back hatch alarm was going off when we left the next morning. The elevator sounded like a death trap. But other than that, it was a nice stay. I do have an issue with the bathroom doors. I'm not sure who thought a sliding door would be nice, but it made our stay very uncomfortable.
Hannah Corcoran: Didn't stay there. Just there for an interview but it was very clean and pretty
Cheryl Kurtz: We immediately noticed after checking in that there was only a trickle of water from the bathtub faucet when we tried to draw a bath. The water also never got warm. There was slightly more water from the showerhead, but very weak water pressure and again the water never got warm- only cool or lukewarm at best. We notified the front desk person immediately, and were told the issue would be addressed and we would be notified of a resolution. When we returned to the hotel for our next night’s stay the next evening, the issue was unresolved. We again informed the front desk clerk, also showing the clerk a video of the issue at this point. The clerk again assured us the issue would be addressed and that we would be notified of a resolution. Neither happened. We spent our entire 3 night stay without the ability to take an adequate or warm bath or shower ( a very basic expectation when paying to stay in a hotel.) We notified the clerk again when we checked out and requested to be informed what compensation would be offered to us. I contacted the manager on the following day. He informed me that he checked the room, and the water pressure was fine in the shower and with hot water, which was a blatant lie. I requested to be credited for 1 night of our 3 night stay, which I feel would have been a fair resolution. The manager refused, stating that all he could offer me was a 10% discount. There was absolutely not even a hint of an apology, and he seemed very unconcerned when I informed him I would be contacting the corporate office for Best Western and that we would not be returning to this hotel, despite our frequent visits to family in this area. Unbelievable! Don’t book a stay at this hotel. There are plenty of others in the area where I’m sure you can at least take a warm shower!
Gladys Margarita Pacheco: This have it all. Shopping Mall and other 5 min walk. Love itRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More

Erika Jakich: NEVER STAY HERE!!! THEY STOLE MONEY FROM ME. I called to book a room for 2 nights. My card was charged 308. I arrived and checked into the hotel. Got my room keys and then checked my balance on my card they had actually charged me 430.06. I had to wait till the following day to speak with management. I told management that I would be checking out and at that point the owner told me. I was not getting my money back for the night I was not staying and he was also keeping my money for incidentals. So he stole $430 from me. For a 1 night stay!!! NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!! THEY WILL STEAL MY MONEY THEY WILL STEAL YOURS!!
Kevin Smith: Nice place, clean, well lit at night rooms are very nice would stay there again most definitely!!!!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More
Erika Winters: I’ve stayed here twice now. Each time was for around a week long. The front desk staff are always super friendly, room service ladies are amazing at what they do and so nice as well. The pool has never been busy when I visit so it’s really nice being able to come down and relax. Breakfast tastes delicious. The rooms look gorgeous and nicely updated. Overall this is a great place to stay!
Natasha Luna: This was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. I chose this hotel because of all of the good reviews on google. Extremely disappointed. We were placed in a room next to the ice machine, the laundry and the pool. There was so much noise. I could hear the ice machine loud and clear every time someone used it even after I put towels at the bottom of my door and had a Hatch sound machine playing white noise. People were screaming at the pool. Plus several times throughout the night there were random car alarms going off in the parking lot. I woke up at midnight to a vehicle parked with their headlights pointed right at my window and they were blasting loud music. Came out in the morning to someone parked 5 inches from my vehicle so I had to move it just to get my children loaded. The room was not clean at all. You'd think that when you have to pay extra for a pet friendly room that it would at least be clean. There was hair all over and dead bugs in the corner of the bathroom. The beds were comfortable but I barely slept at all with all the incessant noise. Some creeper approached my husband in the hallway and tried to pay him to give him a ride to "get him out of here."
Kelly Schadeck: Overall good experience! The room was clean, breakfast was good, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. A few things to note: The pool water appeared cloudy which can be an indication that the chlorine is not working effectively. The elevator sounded clunky and was a little nerve wracking. The bathroom door is a sliding door and does not lock, which leaves little privacy and may be problematic for some folks sharing a room. Would stay here again despite these things!Safety: Felt safe tucked away from the road behind a shopping center. Well lit parking lot.Food & drinks: Beverages, candy, snacks available for purchase. 24/7 coffee and tea station.
Rebecca Teague: They are very friendly and it’s very clean
Kyle Boman: Clean rooms, nice bathroom, really comfy beds.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5 …More

Michelle Stohr: Nice, good view and food for breakfast. It was a very calm stay nothing exciting or worrying which as a mom of a bunch this was a huge plus. The pool was nice, hot tub is pretty small but I’ll take it, 3ft pool inside, deeper pool is outside (they’re connected)

Juan Alcala: Love the hotel great location for wherever you want to goRooms: ExcellentNearby activities: Everything was close bySafety: Walking areas were very helpfulWalkability: Walking distance to some places were goodFood & drinks: Loved the Mexican restaurant across from the hotel, food and drinks were great
Caroline McBride: Went to a trade show there and did not stay in the rooms. It is not a luxury hotel, but it was clean. I would say decent quality for a convention, but it was not impressive.Nearby activities: Next door to a Bass Pro. Near to a major shopping center as well as a kid's adventure place.

They overbooked and bumped us up to a larger room with a seating area, bunk beds and king bed.Sound-proofing was excellent, hardly heard anything else from anyone.Water pressure was good and the provided shampoo, conditioner etc were bath & body works.Breakfast stays open until 10am.Will definitely stay here again.

Vanessa Liddell: Kap and MacKenzie are phenomenal, amazing, exceptional! Truly all the good things! I have NEVER been to any hotel that instantly makes you feel like family. This property INSTANTLY welcomes you when you walk in, the staff are sooo hospitable and sweet and the leadership exude those same attributes. As a travel nurse, this was a home away from home and a scenic getaway all in one! Definitely has become my preferred hotel for booking! Please make more!To add- Sandy is phenomenal! she provided EXCEPTIONAL customer service, this hotel and staff have superceded my expectations - A hidden gem for sure!Noteworthy details: Scenic getaway
Sarah Kessler: Dirty and small rooms. If we ever came back, we’d have to get a room with a balcony to be able to walk around a bit. Row machine was broken… I don’t know why it was kept in the gym? Other than that, the kids loved the pool and staff was nice :) Also a nice lake to walk around to the playground.
Cross Family Fun: We only stayed overnight while we were passing through but it was a very nice and clean room. The grounds are beautiful and they serve a nice breakfast. If we’re ever in town for a longer visit we will definitely stay here.
James Coonrod: A great place to have meetings and banquets highly suggest looking into it if you need their servicesRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view …More
Tyler Baughn: Rooms were nice, breakfast was OK, and the location was great. But the hot tub and pool were closed, so that was disappointing. The main thing that bothered me was that there were ants. Bought fudge from a candy store and put it on the desk to eat, but after a few hours, it was covered in ants, and so was my drink. Will not come back again till it's taken care of.
Krystyn Quinones: Absolutely amazing hotel. The rooms were clean and the breakfast not bad. The best part was walking our dogs around the lake. It is a protected lake so there were so many animals to see and the waterfalls were super cool. My 4 year old is obsessed with hotels and said this one was the coolest he's been too and that he is claiming it as his hotel. I wish they would expand just a little to reach the western U.S. as we would only stay here if they did.
leah anderson: Pool is closed and breakfast tasted awful and not celiac inclusive. Couldn't enjoy any of what I paid for.

Residence Inn by Marriott Kansas City Independence: what do users think?
Jacobduke71: Adequate space outside to walk to pup. The only thing to note negative about this Residence inn is the fact most rooms aren't elevator accessible which is a huge inconvenience for someone like me who lives in hotels for atleast a month at a time and have actual luggage I have to carry up flights of stairs. Other then that the lady at the front desk was nice and the rooms were clean and what you'd expect from a Residence inn
Leslie Day: Multiple things broken in our room. Every door was out of whack.Rooms: 2/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 4/5 …More
C: This is the absolutely best cleanest friendliness hotel I've ever stayed in!!! Extremely clean super helpful staff. The staff is amazing they had some great recommendation on things to do close by they go above and beyond for their guest they make you feel like family. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody and know they would enjoy their stay!! I would definitely give this hotel 5 stars!!!
Tim Meise: Currently undergoing some construction. Rooms, breakfast and afternoon snacks on Mondays are as expected. Drew is a great assistant manager, very welcoming and friendly. Drew really made my stay pleasant.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Quiet, Kid-friendly, Great value …More
Sea Mac: The employees were terrific. The front desk was friendly. Kim listened to me and apologized when I checked out. In the morning during breakfast, I can't remember her name, but she was right there, ready to assist a guest if needed. The room, not so much. Checking in, there are no obvious queues to the customer that there are areas under construction...until you check in, walk past the front desk and then see the plastic, tape, and maybe some signage....maybe.As you walk to your room, at least in my case, you pass rooms with open doors and plastic haphazardly taped over the doorframe over the door. The stairways, unkempt, as the one I traversed had a toothpick on the steps for the four days I was there. The elevator, expect to spend a good portion of your stay in it, as it's the slowest elevator I've ever been in.So, my room, I will let the photos make the case. Signs of water damage on the ceiling, cracks in the walls, and really bad interior lighting. Unsealed doorframes, bad stucco, and lack of detail when cleaning were obvious. The basketball court. Two nights, I'm awake at 1 a.m. listening to someone play basketball outside. The room just wasn't what I expected from a Marriott property.

Adam Whitt: Stayed here 4 nights for a work trip. My biggest issue with my stay is that this hotel is currently under what I would call a major renovation from either massive water damage or an extreme remodel project. Half the hotel is gutted down to the studs mainly in the middle portions and the elevators were not working. Personally, I think they should let consumers know that their hotel is under renovation before booking. My room was clean on the surface but if you looked closely it was not by any means squeaky clean - I had chewed gum on my walls, and it was pretty obvious that the rooms were surfaced cleaned in any high touch areas. However, I had a suite style room that was spacious and comfortable for the most part. My only other issue with this hotel is the location, it is backed up into a small section of woods and attracted some shady activity. I opened up my blinds at 9 AM one morning and there was someone breaking into cars right in plain sight in broad daylight. They do have security on staff which I reported to immediately after seeing this. All staff I encountered were very friendly.
Jennifer White: It was clean and the breakfast was good.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Quiet, Great value …More

Super 8 by Wyndham Independence Kansas City: what do users think?
Rheva Myhre: It was a perfect, easy stop on our drive from Washington State to Tennessee. Great location, good price, clean and comfy bed, nice breakfast. The biggest downside was that when we arrived at 11pm, exhausted from 13 hours of driving, the front desk people were pretty scattered and low key bothering each other and it took almost 20 minutes to get checked in. They were nice enough, just not very efficient. Anyway, the room and bed were very comfortable and clean. We had a great sleep. We were very pleasantly surprised about the breakfast. None of the other motels we stayed in on this trip even offered breakfast, and this one had sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches, which we both love. The fruit and granola bars rounded it out nicely.I would absolutely stay here again (I’ll just factor in some extra time for the front desk to be confused about how to charge the deposit).
Wildcat 6319: Not bad…budget friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Reserved Veterans spot right at the door. Several food options close by. Only negatives: tiny bathroom and no elevator so two flights of stairs. Stairwell smelled smoky on the first floor, then had a strong “cover up the smoke smell with air-freshener” odor. But I’d be willing to stay here again.

Theodore Jackson: A clean room, comfortable bed, good TV & a good breakfast make this place a winner. Sure, it may be a little old, but it was a great price especially for a last minute booking in the KC area where so many hotels are overpriced. I'm not sure what so many of the negative reviewers expect for a hotel in this price range. Honestly, I've paid more for much worse. It's a Super 8, not a downtown luxury hotel that will pamper you. No elevator so keep that in mind if mobility issues are a concern.
Ronald Swinehart: In our room that we had, the King size bed was ok,Rooms: Needs updating, the jacuzzi needs updating, bed needs updated. Take note that there is no elevator in the motel.Rooms: 2/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Travis R: Honestly kinda gross. The pros are that the towels are nice and the front office lady and her dog were too. Walking into my room i had to throw an old orange peal off the floor away, room is visibly worn, try to take a shower and as a fit male could barely pull the plunger up to engage showerhead fully. Hot/Cold water just as difficult to turn while the water also conveniently sprays out soaking the bathroom floor. Went to go to bed and left side of mattress is shot. This could all be yours for $120, or not

Wife took a lukewarm shower that was cool within a few minutes and I had to forgo showering because it was too cold. If I had somewhere to be other than the car, I would’ve been a lot more upset.

Drury Inn & Suites Kansas City Independence: what do users think?
Lorena Mishler: It was actually way nicer than expected with complementary dinner, breakfast, and popcorn. The indoor outdoor pool is really cool that you’re able to swim under the wall to get to the outside pool. The kitchen was nice with nice staff and very yummy $5 happy hour desserts. This didn’t get 5 stars since a drunk lady was yelling so loud that we could understand every word and cussing at 3am which sucked since I had softball at 6am. Also kinda pricey. Overall pretty good.
Jason Bange: Nice hotel off the highway, good breakfast and happy hour drinks and food. Indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub. Nice clean rooms. Beds are super bouncy and soft, not my thing but others may like that. Very friendly staff.Rooms: Rooms are clean, beds are really soft and bouncy. I prefer the more firm mattress.Food & drinks: Food from the kitchen is very good. Pizza, burger, pretzels all good picks.Happy hour drinks and food are good.
Ndue Sokoli: Good service
Kelly T: Clean facility with easy access off the highway. Friendly staff, although one, Kaci, was under-trained and repeatedly rude after her mistake. We had our dog with us and were put on the 3rd floor. This meant we could only use the stairwell as using the elevator with him was apparently frowned upon. (This should be listed on the site for those of us with mobility issues.) Overall, our stay was overpriced, but quiet and accessible.
Rensheil Bickford: Easy check in and out. The hotel was lovely and clean. Easy parking. Close to many attractions. 10/10 recommended staff! No bad odors!
Lori Dubois: This was such a nice hotel. The hotel had great amenities with snack and pop or drinks in the evening. Breakfast in the morning. Hot tub was not clean, had fake fingernails floating in the pool and a slimy bottom of the pool. The actual pool had green slime in the bottom of it also. The pool area was well taken care of just need to keep their pool clean for health risks concerns.Rooms: Clean and beds were made and sanitary.Food & drinks: Food and drinks were very tasty.
Frank M: Food & drinks: Great breakfast.Noteworthy details: Including free even food and drinks.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More
Elizabeth Mitchell: Our room smelled slightly like cigarettes despite the no smoking signs everywhere. Even with that it was still a nice stay! Meme Reed: Awesome breakfast
gary w: This is a great hotel chain, unlike many others in customer service and amenities.Food & drinks: Complimentary breakfast, dinner and cocktails.
pamela elmore: This is the nicest, most well staffed, accommodating hotel I've ever stayed at. The breakfast was amazing. Every evening there is dinner and drinks provided free. Really good dinners. 3 free drinks per evening. I was impressed by the food, but the entire staff was absolutely wonderful. Gracious and helpful. Friendly and kind. Luxurious beds and linens. Just a wonderful hotel all in all. A little higher cost than I generally spend, being on the road 100% of the year. But you get what you pay for. And then some. I will stay again. Very impressed and highly recommend Drury Inn!Rooms: Comfortable Bed. Luxurious linens.Food & drinks: Fabulous! Delicious!Noteworthy details: Not one negative thing to say about this beautiful property and every single employee is awesome!
Marja Fletchall: Enjoyed my stay. Will book again.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Carolyn Kinchelow: My favorite hotel so far...Walkability: RestaurantsFood & drinks: You get kickback hour from 5:30 to 7:30 free drinks and food can't beat that everyday you're there
Rick Markham: We stayed at this hotel twice in April so we were amazed how bad our room was last Sunday. We made the reservation about three weeks in advance. When we got to our room it smelled like a dirty dog. The staff wouldn't let us move since there weren't any other rooms available. They kind of had us since the room was non-refundable. But shortly later, we realized the air conditioner didn't work and it was 93 degrees outside. We called the front desk again and they gave us a refund and we went and stayed at the Ambassador Hotel in downtown KC.
K. Davis: First time EVER staying at a Drury Inn. We chose this hotel because of the proximity to my family’s house in Indepence and also because it is a fairly new hotel. At check in we were told about the free breakfast but also a free nightly Buffett AND FREE DRINK coupons! 3 drinks per person staying in the room! The lobby is very comfortable with chairs & a coffee station. There was a Knitting & Quilter’s Convention staying there the weekend we stayed and all day & into the night you could find them gathering the lobby talking and doing their craft. The rooms were large. We had a room with 2 queens. Coffee maker & fridge were in the room. Comfortable beds. Good pressure from the shower. Soap, shampoo and conditioner were available from dispensers in the shower. Only minor complaint was that even though it was a cooler temperatures while we were there, the room felt hot and we couldn’t get it to really cool down. There are restaurants and some shopping all around this hotel. It is right off of I70 and just up from a QuikTrip which we used frequently. I would definitely stay here again.
Netta: Very nice. Rooms very clean. Enjoyed staying at this location. The only issue was that the smoke alarm went off and was not sure what to do.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Great view, Quiet, Kid-friendly …More
Tennessee Whiskey: Obviously the hotel is nice but 367 bucks for one night and the tv doesn’t work. Called front desk lady said we have had multiple reports and we are working on it. Sent the wife down 10 minutes later to get extra towels and spoke to a guy who said we haven’t had any reports of tvs not working. Why make stuff up!

Candlewood Suites Kansas City - Independence, an IHG Hotel: what do users think?
Alayna Bryan: This hotel is dumb. The hotel was overbooked but did not call to let our person, who had reserved the rooms very prior to visiting, know that they only had one room available for them. They waited until the night of while we were out to a concert to call and tell us that we would only have one room. The service in this place is ridiculous. I heard in the lobby that one man had waited over an hour for his single suites to be cleaned out. They should have had that done very prior to the check in time at 3pm. Then when we returned from the concert they told us there was nothing they could do and that the manager would have to call the following day to maybe give a refund. I would not suggest this place.
Noah Harlan: No, they overbooked a room that was booked in advance for 45 days!! So while we were at a concert they called and said they only had one room instead of the second. My parents had to drive 2 1/2 hours home after because they didn’t have a room to stay in.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 1/5 …More
Nikki Mickelson: Just received a call ( two days before our reservation) saying that they had to cancel our reservation because it is an extended stay hotel and there were extended stay guests that decided to stay longer. No comp offered. Now we have to pay high prices for last minute reservations elsewhere because it is also a concert night.Disappointed.
Michelle Hilden: Tried to book a room and they canceled because I don't live over 75 miles out of the area. Used a third party site and the room was already paid for and confirmed.Service: 1/5 …More
Adolf Mills: This place is a five-star hotel to all standards. I will recommend this hotel any day any timeRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More

jackson remacle: Maybe the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, we payed for 2 rooms, one for two days and one for one day cause my uncle got here a day before us. The day we got there the check in personal was extremely rude and snippy when we asked when are second room would be ready, That I was sitting in there game room which was unlocked they promptly kicked me out with no reason and were quite rude about it. Not sure why had no time rules posed on it like the pool did so awful dissapointed
Glenn Avery: Nice hotel. Carmella and staff were very friendly.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Misty Harris: Everything was clean and in order. I gave it a 3 star for the room because there was this musty smell throughout our room. It was very strong. I couldn't find where it was coming from. It never went away during our 3-day stay. The service and help desk people were friendly.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view, Quiet, Great value …More
Jim C: We have stayed at Candlewood at least 9 weekends in the last year. The location is great and rooms are clean. And staff is friendlyHowever, things are changing. I have noticed a turnover in staff and well as management. With our last stay I was charged twice for a third night reservation(1st was made through Priceline)Long story short...the hotel would not return my calls after speaking with the manager..who BTW messed up the reservation.I finally had to contact my credit card company and they got the charges reduced (as of now)BUT NOT completely taken off. Better than nothing I guess. We will never return to this hotel.
Kaitlynn D: As always, the Candlewood Suites is a pleasure to stay at, this particular location even more so.I had to book two nights last minute due to inclement weather during my travels, and the front desk ladies were very accommodating. They got my dog and I into a last minute room and they were just overall very pleasant and sweet. The rooms are clean and filled with everything you could need for a short or extended stay, and the coffee in the room really is way better than other hotels. There is no complimentary breakfast at Candlewood Suites, but I vastly prefer their cupboard options, of which there are many. The facilities are plentiful and well-maintained, and this coupled with the lovely staff and clean and spacious room is why I continually seek out Candlewood over all other lodgings.Thank you all for your hard work, especially during the holidays, and for being so kind to my pup and I as we were stranded by the winter storm.

Matt Maguet: Never been to hotel room that was more dirty than this one. Upon arrival, garbage cans were full and there was make up on the bathroom towels. Couldn't shut the bathroom door all the way, didn't fit into the frame right. The top blanket on the bed was dirty with crumbs on it, went to take it off and there was dried vomit on the comforter (See the picture). They tried to cover it up with the top blanket. Overall felt like the room hadn't been touched since the last guest left. Not impressed.

Triggitty Gawd: If you dont show up by midnight they will cancel your reservation with no refund. Got screwed out of 120$ and had to drive all the way back to michigan with no sleep. Lady at front desk was nice, tried to call GM to fix the problem but the GM just fowarded her calls. I really liked myplace and have stayed at many across the country. Never again.

Chrissy Hennessey: I regret booking to this hotel based off a couple things. At 2am the people above us were very noisy, and the desk attendant took a while to ask them to quiet down. The bed wasn’t very comfy. And the smell of smoke filled the hotel. However, the other desk attendant Takila was awesome and so nice! Made good conversation and cared about our concerns. She made our stay better. Thank you!

Elizabeth Arthur: Had one of my field guys stay here while doing some out of town work, first night power was cut to the entire building, and when it came back on, multiple cars had been broken into, including his and had items stolen. Called the cops, but couldn't do much since there was no security footage due to the "power outage." Second and third nights same thing except instead of the whole building just the security cameras and parking lot lights were cut. Do not stay here unless you want your car broken into.
Amber Miller: Do not stay here. If you need to cancel for any reason you will not be given a refund even if you cancel a month in advance. Also, the window unit makes it feel like you’re wet all the time. Couldn’t sleep due to the constant “muggy” feeling in the room.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 1/5 …More

Days Inn by Wyndham Independence: what do users think?
Yog: Disappointing Experience at the MotelI recently stayed at this motel and unfortunately had a highly unsatisfactory experience. The check-in process was marred by the rude behavior of the staff member, who questioned the number of occupants in our room when we simply requested additional towels due to the hot weather and our need for nighttime showers. Furthermore, he neglected to provide essential information such as the WiFi password and breakfast hours. The rooms were visibly unclean, with noticeable bugs on the beds. I regret to say that I will not be returning to this establishment in the future.
S. Gabriel: It appears this motel and the surrounding few motels are running a fraud ring. My family was scammed at this Days Inn/America's Best Vaue Inn, and based on the clearly sketchy set up, I'm sure we weren't the only guests this has happened to. Don't waste your money or time here. This was the worst service I have ever recieved by far, and shockingly expensive with all of the hidden fees. Upon our arrival in MO at 11:30PM, we were informed that our reserved room at Days Inn was given away without reason. The main staff member I delt with was Pikay, who seemed wholey unphased that he had given away our room until I frantically showed up next door at America's Best (a laughable name based on our experience) Value Inn, which, as it turns out, is run by the same staff. Both hotels must have the same owners, and there are a couple of other motel's in the immediate vicinity, which I assume are also owned by these fraudsters. We were charged more for this new room, which we took out of desperation after 12 hours of driving and the very late hour. This felt suspucious, but I was too tired to bother fighting it (a fact I am sure the shady staff was banking on). Neither place was clean or well maintained. Pikay proceeded to mischarge us for our stay, which we only found out because we recieved a call the next morning letting us know we now owed more. Had I known what a clearly fraudulent endeavor this would be, and how much extra I would spend, I wouldn't have given this place a second glance before moving right along to the next motel. The price after all was said and done was unreasonable, and we could have stayed somewhere much nicer for a lower monitary and emotional cost. I suggest you do just that so you can get a good night's rest with out being defrauded by this abysmal motel staff. To be clear, I have stayed at quite a few other locations of both motel chains, and have had perfectly fine experiences, but this cluster of motels in MO should not be trusted.
Alvvin Reynosa (CHU4A_CABw4-54. Chewy): The check in policy is slow. I was put up there 1 night during NFL DRAFT weekend so I had to take Uber from KC to Columbia, thank God corporate paid for Uber to and from the station to hotel and back to station. It a very neglected hotel. Not safety friendly to high risk travelers (elderly, ladies, children). Bords with nails laying around. Two separate building and language barrier accent of the owner very hard to understand. Demanding deposit, had to call corporate. Keep traveling if possible. YOU BEEN WARNED!!!Rooms: Very basic 2 star motel, no real amenities. Says free WI FI but the connection is so weak, just use ur data.Safety: Very dark, isolated, ply wood laying around. Not advised for Travelers who are high risk... elderly, women alone, and males alone traveling with children. Basically only single males and partying people advised to stop hereWalkability: The walk from office to room is about 10 mins walk. I told office Uber just dropped me off could I please get a room close to walk to with my luggage.Noteworthy details: Front office agrees to anything you ask them, then they say , how much you pay, then you ask room close to office bc Uber dropped u off they say I don't know, this is your room 10 mins walk it was no exaggeration. Accents very hard to understand and after you pay them. They walk away to a room and ignore you, I am like what the heck. STAY AWAY!!!

Kenneth Conway: This is the only star I can give. I was going to voice my opinion but decided not to. You get what you pay for! It's better to shop a little more pay that extra dollar and get into something much better.
Robert Lawrence: 4 days in a row housekeeping has not came in and because we come in late from working we have not been able to get clean washcloth or towels let alone any service in the room from housekeeping. I have went to the front desk and complained three different times about the same thing.... And they have not even tried to accommodate us in the least possible way. You're better off going somewhere else obviously.... And we will too...

Silver Heart Inn & Cottages: what do users think?
Katherine Weese: Rooms: The Beach Cottage was very comfortable and charming. It was a treat to have the hot tub on the premises and super convenient to have kitchen, laundry, and a coffeemaker. We appreciated that coffee pods and creamer were supplied. The bed was very comfortable, and the carpet and living room furnishings brand new.Nearby activities: The Inn’s guidebook is extremely helpful. The Inn is not far from Independence Square (walkable) and many historic sites. The Truman Museum and Library is a short drive and well worth the trip—an excellent museum.Food & drinks: The breakfast was delicious— ample portions, nice presentation, great service. Snacks were also available at check in.
Cindy Rotermund: Great 2 night stay here at the Silver Heart. Hosts were so welcoming and the house is lovely. It was unusually hot when we were there but our room had a window a/c which did the trick just fine. Breakfast was yummy both mornings. Also I really enjoyed sitting at the patio for some relaxing time with my book.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Romantic …More

andie -: Our stay in the Beach Cottage was amazing. It was stocked with everything we needed for a weekend filled with sight-seeing and staying in to enjoy each others’ company. We couldn’t have asked for a yummier breakfast or better service. The property is so pretty, too. Highly recommend!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Jennifer Cravens (Ajailyn): Newish owner was super friendly upon arrival! We stayed for our anniversary and as an independence area local I've driven past it all the time decided to stay! Charming, absolutely charming. The beach cottage was clean, comfortable, the cottage has its own private hot tub completely private even from surrounding neighbors! Kitchen was not only stocked with dishes and pans but coffee, tea, liquid creamers, but the spices were stocked! Did not need to buy those small things like spices we forget when on holiday! Breakfast was amazing and cooked at the time we sat down, not buffet style! Full two course style breakfast not those horrible continental. Saturday was my partners favorite from scratch made biscuits and from scratch made gravy with an egg and a chicken sausage link after the first course of honey vanilla yogurt topped with home made plum jam and almond slices! Sunday was strawberry and cream filled French toast made with French bread.. and sausage. Served after the first coarse of a Waldorf salad! Coffee, tea, juice and water were available. And the beds.. when you stay on a bed that is better than at home... just amazing service, charming room.. and plenty of soft plush towels... a perfect romantic get away!!!The only reason location was 4 * out of 5 was its spring we had windows open and it was very close to a busy intersection and near a firehouse.. when windows are closed though the emergency vehicles and traffic is a lot more muffled and its quiet! But it is very close to a quiktrip and a grocery store! Close to independence Square and other historic travel spots! The host is exactly the kind of inn keeper you find joy in visiting again!
Mashona Washington: We had a wonderful stay! Charles provided impeccable service from beginning to the end. We felt welcomed and well taken care of! We loved the comfy bed and the home itself was very quaint with its history and hardwood floors. We are excited about trying out some of the other rooms/cottages when we’re in Independence again! Highly recommend!Rooms: The Margery Stone room was very spacious and had everything we needed!
Stephanie Bizjak: This was such a great experience I only wish I had more time to spend here! I stayed for one night on my way from North Carolina to Montana & it was such a breath of fresh air! I stayed in the main house & it was so cozy. I got a great nights sleep. I initially wasn’t going to stay for breakfast since I had a long drive ahead of me & the owners graciously packed me a Togo breakfast snack. I decided to stay anyways to get the full experience & I was not disappointed! Breakfast was quick, delicious & the service was impeccable. I highly recommend & if I ever come back this way I will be sure to spend more than one night!
Mary Banks (Tami): Very cute, clean place to stay. The hosts were wonderful! I would definitely stay there again.Food & drinks: Breakfast was very good!
Rylee Harmon: We found this cute little cottage online to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and our soon to be wedding on March 18th! We loved everything about our stay here! We stayed in the Beach Cottage just over this weekend. This cute little cottage really is a slice of heaven and is 100% private. It really allowed me and my future husband to connect and really focus on each other. The electric fireplace and private hot tub were AMAZING. Ya’ll when I tell you Charles and Amy think of everything, they do! We loved to see they had little string lights located where the hot tub sits to add that romantic setting. It was such a relaxing little getaway and we absolutely fell in love with it! The only reason I gave 4 stars was because they are located down the street from a fire station. So when we were outside enjoying the tub we did hear sirens often but it DID NOT affect our stay or how we felt overall. More of something to be aware of. I highly recommend the cottage we stayed in if you’re looking for a romantic private outing and don’t feel like sharing the hot tub like we felt. 🤣 We can’t wait to return and thank you for making our anniversary a bit more special. 💙
Jeanette Wilson: Best B&B ever. Highly recommend. Great people, great breakfast and great accommodations. Will definitely come back 💖
Rachel Anderson: This place is the absolute best. We didn't want to leave! We got the Beach Cottage and it was very well worth it! The cottage was clean, the staff are fantastic people, and their breakfast was great! When we went out and came back it was like coming home. We were very impressed with everything and recommend this to everyone who needs or wants a very relaxing vacation. The hot tub was perfect and it's even got the best decorations! Will definitely return!!Rooms: Very clean, well stocked and prepared.Nearby activities: Perfect location and easy to get to nearby restaurants and attractions.Safety: Security alarms and codes for doors only given to you.Walkability: Gas station within walking distance.Food & drinks: Breakfast is made there in he AM. Very delicious!
Janice Fleet: Had my daughter's birthday celebration there. Wonderful hosts and beautiful Inn. I recommend it highlyService: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Brady Mueller: Silver Heart Inn is absolutely fantastic! Great location just 15 mins from Arrowhead and about 5 mins to Independence square. The owners are great and cook an amazing breakfast every morning, not just eggs and pancakes. They had snacks, cookies, coffee all regularly available through the day. We stayed in the Beach Cabin which was awesome. They private hot tub in the back was exquisite. Seriously 10/10.
mikenap73: We came for the Murder Mystery but decided to stay the night because the Inn looked so cute. It did not disappoint at all! The Inn is very lovely and the hosts are great. We stayed in the main house (the Legend of Asian room), and the room was exactly as pictured. It was a lot larger than we thought, and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, and they even accommodated my picky eating. We took a dip in the hot tub before bed. I highly recommend!
Lara Hanlon: After checking out, our only question now is...when can we return?? Our entire stay was wonderful, starting even before we arrived with the owners (Amy and Charles) arranging all the details of the package we booked, from massage to dinner reservations. The home and room we booked (Margery Stone) were historic, beautiful, and clean. The breakfasts were phenomenal (I'm still thinking about the blueberry french toast!). The room and home were very well equipped, with a fan, an electric fireplace, a rollaway bed, books, and a Roku in-room, and more books, games, puzzles, snacks, coffee, and tea available in the common areas. The toiletries and towels were lux, the bed and pillows comfortable, the sheets super soft...it was great in every single way. However, what made it a standout visit was the hospitality and generosity of the owners. We had more face time with Charles, and he was extraordinarily delightful, welcoming, and kind, but Amy (working more behind the scenes) was just as great. They made the stay so special and unique, and you can tell they adore this home and their job as hosts. As soon as you meet them, you'll see exactly what I mean! While these didn't impact our stay in the slightest, I will note that the home is on a main street, so while most noise is muffled, some sounds (mainly sirens) do sneak through (though not at all enough to interrupt our sleep), and the water pressure is fairly low - which is entirely expected on upper floors in a historical house and wasn't a surprise. It was still a steaming hot and pleasant shower. Again, these didn't impact our stay at all, but noting them in case they are of importance to other potential guests. For us (and I'd imagine 99% of others), these extremely minor issues were well worth the trade off of staying in such a beautiful home with such fantastic hospitality and food.We absolutely adored our weekend at the Silver Heart Inn and will hopefully be back soon. We really want to check out the cottages and other rooms now - though it will be hard to give up the king size bed and electric fireplace of the room we had this time around! Can't wait for more of that amazing blueberry french toast!!
Alexiss Ashley: I went to the murder mystery for my for my birthday. Had such a great time. Lots of laughs, lots of fun and lots of food. Would 100% recommend. I will definitely be going back. The owners were such a sweet friendly couple.Service: 5/5 …More
Kaye Schaaf: We thought it was kind of deceiving from the pictures on the internet. We thought it was out in the countrysideOn the good end, the owners and daughter are fantastic. The breakfast was excellent. Very accommodating Thank you for the pecan pancakes! On the bad side, our sweet little one year old dog, Lola recked the blinds in the kitchen on the last day there!
Joe Miller: The Silver Heart Inn has been the most romantic place I've ever stayed.
