Cynthia Erb: Ordered through Door Dash: meatloaf, collards, green beans, banana pudding. All fantastic. I devoured it.
Tim Johnson: Ordered the catfish sandwich which was just a salty paper thin slab of catfish with a piece of stale cornbread. The peach cobbler was ice cold and had a super funny taste to it. And the soda was a 2$ can of root beer which they couldnt even be bothered to poor the drink in the cup. I got the cup and ice separate from the drink. There wasnt one good thing about this meal it went straight into the trash. Wasted 30$ on some remedial “soul food”.

Renee Miller: This restaurant is authentic African American style soul food. I am so glad I have found this. It is rare to find greens this tender and well-seasoned. And the sweet potatoes are some of the best I have ever had.
Michael Jordan: Worth the price, great southern food. I was bit confused finding the place its a tiny bank that has been turned into a eatery
Barry Wilson: We called and they said there was plenty of seating. It appears that most of te food is to go. The ambiance is rather plain. The food is not. We ordered two entree's and they were delicious. The food was prepared with care. It's not fast food. But not slow either. The food was plentiful and tasty.

Ellen Libke: Well the menu certainly has changed since I was here last(pre-covid) Greatly reduced menu from what I remember. I've never been a huge fan but always good to try again. I found the food to be mediocre...you really can't go wrong with chicken strip. I'm really confused about the warm croissants drizzled with sweet butter that they sat on the table as a complimentary appetizer?? Neither of us ate one..but we took them home in a to-go box..& my sis-in-law took them home with her..whether they got eaten I'm not sure...point being..what the he77 kind of appetizer is that..very strange!!The place was packed..food being slung everywhere...also not my favorite time to visit but it's nice to finally see people back doing what we do best in the USA...EAT!
Robert Martin: Recommended dishes Chicken Tender Platter No 8 SpecialMore
Craig Jennings: Our server Carli(?) was amazing ! Very promot and thought of everything! The margaritas and the food were great. Dining on the patio was a nice way to avoid the noise inside the restaurant (they were busy, but we were seated right away). Wish the patio was larger and did a little more to shelter the traffic, but overall, it's one of the better places we have been in a long time.

The meat reminded me of the great value stuff at walmart. Everyone else really enjoyed their food and the atmosphere was nice.Kid-friendliness: They were very accomodating for my son. We needed a booth because he doesnt do well at restaurants, they gave us a corner booth which helped a lot.

Beau Branscum: I was pleasantly surprised with the Big Easy Grill! We were trying to find a place to eat while passing through town a little late in the day, and it was only a handful of places open still. But, when we got there, settled in, and eating... It was such a good idea to stop in. Looking around at everyone's food, I had no idea what I was going to get. But, in the end, I couldn't go wrong with anything they had.
Dan C: Excellent fried fish, hush puppies, sweet potato fries, and coleslaw. We liked it a lot! Good service. Clean place.Recommended dishes Catfish Dinner …More
Thomas Price: 1st time here. Service was a little slow at first. I stood there for around 5 mins before anyone noticed me . Cooks looked and me and turned around . 1 lady seated me and seemed like she wasn't happy to be there and another Waitress Grace) seemed busy as she had a large group in the back ,But was happy to help me and take my order.Had the seafood gumbo. I've had better and I've had worse but over all It was delicious. I think for me it needed some spice. Which I overheard a few other customers order theirs medium to extra spicy.Fried pickles were ok. A little over cooked. And seemed to have a sweet taste. Which thru me off . Crispy texture and stillGood but different. The gumbo was served with slices of a French bread, crispy top and soft in the middleOver all good food and good atmosphere. I will be back. As most other patrons was ordering the Dirty Jambalaya and or crawfish Etouffee which sounds delicious.

Sam’s Southern Eatery: what do users think?
Billy Kee: Ordered a grilled chicken salad which basically was just pickles and cucumbers. A few pieces of chicken and a little lettuce. Just awful for $14.My mom got the 4 piece fried catfish which the pieces looked like they came from a shad (adult minnow). One of the workers or owner is from India so I'm wondering if the meat in our food was mystery meat. Also got the gumbo which was okay. Nothing special. Ended up being $40. What a waste! If you want catfish go somewhere else. I should've went to Flat Creek instead.
Matthew Charlton: Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5Recommended dishes Fish & Shrimp Combo, Red Beans and Rice Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Free parking lotMore
Riley O'Shea: Everything tastes amazing and the staff is super friendlyFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Jack A. Saliba: Took my mother to Sam’s Southern for Mother’s day. Never ate there before today. The catfish was excellent, came out piping hot. Sides were great. The hostess, Moonya???, very kind and pleasant. The people that wrote reviews complaining about mostly fried foods being available… why did they even go there if that is not what they want? Apparently, they do not know what real “southern food” or Louisiana food is. Me and my family will be going again 😁.
Tim Walch: Plenty of food and satisfied overall but practically everything is fried with a few exceptions. I liked the fried shrimp the most but the catfish has a lot to be desired. Red beans and rice were pleasing as a side. This place is worth trying for yourself as personal tastes differ. I will probably not return here. It’s a cholesterol thing for me and the taste in general was meh.
daniel Stephens: Best fish in town ,crispy and not greasy. Red beans and rice 🌾 Soo 🤤 frocking good, gumbo, yes please. Big 12/20 count shrimps, chicken strips will make u gobble them down.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Fish & Shrimp Combo, Sandwich, Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, Crab Cakes, Fish PO'Boy, Fish …More
That One Panda Guy: You can tell any hamburger came from box and server laughed at me for getting everything on the burger on the side, fish was trash and it was all 50 bucks, dozens of better spots in town for cheaper. Had some neat wall decor thoFood: 1/5|Service: 2/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Lyndy Morgan: The first time we went the catfish was wonderful. The 2nd time we went to your new restaurant and it was not so good. The 3rd time, today, we went to the old restaurant and I ordered 3 catfish. It tasted funny and you might want to check your catfish because I've been sick and vomiting since we left. I'm sad because it's one of the few places you can get whole catfish.
Teresa Emerson: Came upon this fabulous gem of an eatery today and enjoyed the best lunch I’ve had in a long time. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious! Very well price as well! The menu selection has something for everyone. The staff was so wonderful and friendly. From someone who eats out at least once a day, trust me when I say you have to give this little place a try.
Cancer Stick: Best chicken livers you can get without driving through Arkansas. Clean dining room, very friendly owners/staff. The fried pies melt in your mouth 👍🗿👍
Ed Adcock: Food OK, not really southern foodFood: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Wanda R: The grilled and fried fish. And the shrimp po boy were delicious
Michael uchiha: My friend Brandon and me went there for the first time today it was clean the people were friendly and the food was made with love and care they have in house sauces that are to die for and their gumbo was perfection there portions were not lacking and they have something for everyone if your nearby of far away visiting them is definitely worth itVegetarian options: They have some decent salad optionsKid-friendliness: They have mild options for young ones and people who aren't into really spicy forParking: Located in a chain shop so there's parking all aroundWheelchair accessibility: The doors are pull and push but the interior is wide enough for a wheelchair to comfortably get through I did not use the restroom so not sure if they are but a person can easily wheel their wheelchair up to a table to eat
Randall Willoughby: It was my first visit to Sam's tonight. I had the fried catfish. WOW I was impressed. I got the 6 pc. meal. Each filet was 7 to 8 inches long. Maybe more. Nicely breaded. Tasty. The Cole slaw was very good too. Check it out! You'll love it!Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More

Jay Roth: Love this place! Took more family back because it’s so good! Made to order food so it’s piping hot and crunchy! This time I had fried oyster meal, wife had fish po’boy, sister-in-law had chicken po’boy sandwich! All agreed it was fantasticRecommended dishes Fish PO'Boy, Red Beans and Rice …More

Average Reviews: Gumbo: really good. Crawfish po boy: close to the best sandwich I have ever had prominent flavors of all ingredients and fresh. Fries: very high quality and potato taste, but wasn’t very crispy. Unsweet tea: good as expected sweet tea: old but still sweet Hospitality: absolutely great. Quality of all food was above average at least, but drinks were as expected. Absolutely will eat again.Parking: Large dip in front, but easy parking spots to access

Eva Cox: Delicious! Even with the construction out front it's sooo worth it to stop by and have some amazing BBQ. The smoke makes you drool as you wait.Parking: Park out back.
Joseph Dougherty: This place has been here for a looonngg time, like 50 years, burnt down and rebuilt, still family owned and operated. Some of the best smoked meats and bbq around 👌
Walter Stokely: As good as any bbq KC. They smoke in an old pit that you can see, using hickory logs harvested in Springfield. No frills and reasonably priced compared to other bbq restaurants. This place is also black owned and part of Springfield history. Read the old newspaper clippings on the wall when you go!
Ellen Gray: Great BBQ! Come and get it!Hard to review today because all of Springfield seemed to be there to give them a boost. Crosstown is awesome but for a while it's going to be crazy!Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Chase Miller: Waited 45 minutes to be served a sandwich with no sauce or sides. Waitress just dropped on my table and walked off. I had to flag her down for her to tell me the side was going to be late. When I asked about the sauce for the sandwich she mumbled something and walked off. After waiting a few more minutes with no sides or sauce I walked out, sandwich uneaten. Worst service I've ever had in a restaurant.
Tad Duet: Delicious BBQ (and fries)!
Trent Condellone: Always good! Great BBQ from the long time family owned business. Drive thru, too.Parking: Enter from side street in back.
Mykhael Hayes: Went for Saturday lunch, it was kinda busy there were a few empty seats. Chris the server was excellent and worked hard to keep up. The atmosphere is like a family reunion. Most patrons know the people there so it's always a warm welcome when someone enters. It had been a while since we had been. The owner came out from. The kitchen to talk to us just like he knew us.A large portion of food and the menu has many offerings.Don't let the road work prevent you from visiting this local gem. Lots of pictures on the wall with lots of history.
C Starrett: Well. I had high hopes of this place with all the rewards from the past and the reviews. The only good thing about this place was our waitress. She was great. Now to the food. I ordered brisket, ribs, and burnt ends. The food was so overcooked or reheated that it was like jerky. The absolute worst bbq I've ever had. Every piece of meat was tough like jerky. It was a complete waste of money. I'm really not sure how a place could serve what I had. Really hoped it was gonna be great.
Charlie Robison: I was quite disappointed in this place. The best part was the fried; however, not a lot of fries for $4.99. I didn't like their sause @ all. Pappy's is, by far the better BBQ place.
Ashleigh Murray: Great food, awesome service!!!!
Drew Marie Johnson: Super great food! Great service all around! If you love bbq, this will be one of the best bbq places you'll eat!

We had fried catfish, the best we’d eaten, collard greens, green beans, sweet potatoes and sweet cornbread…we were sad when we got full!Parking: Plenty of parking. Very relaxing atmosphere
Russ Powers: Insanely good! Mama G does it right!
DaMecia Kraus: As SOON as I walked through the door, the aroma immediately gave me satisfaction! I knew the food was going to be just as good as the smell that hit my nose! Mama G's is the place to go if you're looking for REAL HOME COOKED SOUL FOOD!
Trent Condellone: Great food however they can get really slammed when there's an event next door. Take out can take a while. I was very surprised at the chicken wings they were unique and good. The sauce appears to be homemade and was also unique and surprisingly good. Green beans apparently were fresh which is great except there was a sharp stem in mine. Otherwise they were probably some of the best green beans I've ever had.

Leah Stowe: Delicious food with a home-cooked taste and quality. We've enjoyed the fish, meatloaf, mac and cheese, green beans, and banana pudding. On top of a great meal, they are wonderful people and offer great service.

Sara Beaudoin: Some of the best soul food we have ever eaten (and we’ve eaten a lot of it)! All of the sides were wonderful and the shrimp and fish were cooked to order. Would 10/10 recommend. Great prices and wonderful service. Also, if you’re like us and are having a hard time finding them, it’s in the very back of the building in the metro sometbing or other behind Where House Bar.
AJ Dillard: When I say that Mama G has changed my life....My allergies are clear...I had a slight fever and headache when I came GONE... this food will change your life! Come get a plate TODAY!

Courtney Lewis: WHOA. How is it possible that I've not heard one thing about Mama G’s Kitchen_Lovely Creations ?!?! We went to Where House Bar last night where Mama's was set up ready to serve everyone at the Marley Bash. My boyfriend tried a meatloaf dinner with mac & cheese and corn and I had the catfish dinner with collard greens and spicy cabbage and both meals came with cornbread. HOLY MOLY talk about flavor!!! I am always taking half of all of my meals home, but we both finished every last bite (it was so good we couldn't even stop to take a pic! Lol)The catfish was fried to perfection, with the crispiest cornmeal breading I've probably ever had! The collards and cabbage were cooked down, but not at all mushy.. and were bursting with flavor! The meatloaf was tender and juicy (come to find out they use Wagyu!) ..and that Mac!! We try Mac absolutely everywhere and it's hands down one of the best, in our opinion, in Springfield!! It's creamy with a slight sharpness and just a smidge of a smoky flavor. Staff mentioned that they are currently setting up there next to Where house bar, in the Metro eats plaza, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. If you love good soul food made with love.... Go check them out!!! We are now counting down the days until we go back!!!
Lawrence Ireland: The catfish, collard greens, and mac and cheese were all amazing!Recommended dishes Catfish Dinner …More
carmen ivy: Best soul food from Springfield Mo to Fayetteville,Arkansas nothing compares it took my whole soul!! I will back..
