Lee F: UPDATE: To add insult to injury, the storm windows were also installed poorly. As the weather turned cold, they started fogging up and recently, as temperatures plummeted, they have begun to ice over on the INSIDE (see photos). Windows that are installed correctly should not fog or ice on the inside as they should be sealed to prevent moisture getting in. Furthermore, we can also feel air coming in many of the windows, which did not happen with our old storm windows. While this company touted energy efficiency, it is the exact opposite. This company is a joke all around. Buyer beware!I hired STL Windows and Doors to replace 28 storm windows on my home because they were highly rated. I was told that the windows would be fully custom to fit my existing custom interior windows, however, the storm windows I received are not custom and do not line up with my existing interior windows (see photos).Honestly, I just wanted this fixed as it degrades the look of our home and is not what I ordered.What the company will tell you:1. They tried to remedy the situation, but the company they use is no longer making storm windows so there is nothing they can do.2. They apologize if the windows are not aesthetically pleasing or do not meet my expectations (disregarding the fact that they are not what I ordered).3. They pride themselves on customer service, their reputation, and their customer’s satisfaction.What I will tell you:1. When I alerted them to the issue, they said, “It is what it is.” They also told me that the storm windows only came in a 50/50 split (and not custom). I contacted the supplier myself and confirmed that the windows are available to order in custom sizes. When I told the company this, they said that they had reached out to the supplier and since they were no longer making storm windows, there was nothing they could do. I asked if there were other solutions, such as contacting another supplier, but I never received an answer to that.2. "Apologies" aside, I must now pay another company considerably more money to fix the issue caused by STL Windows and Doors.3. Their actions do not align with priding themselves on customer service. To outline a few of the particulars (without going into too much detail): they’ve blamed the original salesperson who no longer works for the company, they lied about the windows not being available in custom sizes, they then blamed me after I found out that they are available in custom sizes, a window was installed broken and has not been fixed.Please share this with family and friends to help them avoid losing money to false promises. Thank you!

I called every single window supplier, manufacturer, and installer I could find in the Saint Louis area and none of them came close to Empire’s price and timeframe. road bump: Worked here and it is an extremely hostile work environment. Had a supervisor who was my coworker mad that I was in the same position as him so he decided to go in and edit my time and cut my hours. HR and the owner were made aware of this as was the Plant supervisor. I was told that he would be reprimanded and to this date he is still employed and supervising. I asked several people including upper management and HR if I had done the same thing would i still be employed and they said "No". I had threats against me from him and others that had been mad at my hiring because they felt an outsider shouldn't be hired for supervision. All of this was documented and put in my resignation letter as well. To this day my lost hours were not recouped or paid for and I had to leave because of the hostility.

I walked in and met a Father son duo who were very kind and clearly, had done this for sometime. They listen to my specifics, brought out different types of wood for me to pick from. Megan Pritchard: The Very Frustrating Contractor List isn't too long for me, but St Louis Sash is certainly on it. I've had an order in (and deposit made) for a replica wood door for 6 MONTHS. I've been given false information on the status of this order via email (owner confirmed he just 'says things' over email) and the status provided over the phone weeks ago has never come to fruition ('days away').My husband is in construction, so I get it. I know there are all kinds of delays and long lead times. But there has been zero communication from this company after taking my deposit. I don't know if I'll ever get this door, or maybe it will be another 6 months, but I'll update at that time. Just beware that this is yet another very frustrating contractor to deal with.

If you expect a potential new customer to spend $10-12k based on figures scratched on a notepad and a verbal estimate you are sadly mistaken. What a waste of time!*edit*For what it’s worth, the day after this review one of the co-owners called me and offered to send an estimate. I declined as I had already gone with another company.
