kay riddle: My son and I sat at the counter. Great taco salad. It was great to find this free parking, if why we looked for this restaurant. In the area it's not easy to park. We were delighted to find this clean place to eat Mexican food. Yum.Parking: Parking lot in around to the back. Thank you for free parking in this area. Great food. Spanish/English is a little difficult for this English only speaking old gal but it was all good. Great people.

Cristal Luna: The restaurant was completely packed when I walked in. I had no issues with a long wait, it was to be expected. I stood at the register for 30 mins, I was never greeted or asked if I needed anything. Being that it was busy I didn’t want to take it personal. What upset me was when 3 people, yes 3 people who walked in after me had their order taken. All whom were Spanish speaking people. At first I thought they had online or pickup orders but that wasn’t the case. They all placed orders and then exchanged money. Finally a women decided to take my order and I went to sit down. As I approached the table my bf explained how another table was ignored multiple times and had to ask the staff if someone was going to help them. This table was there before we arrived. I continued to watch them bring chips and continue to ignore not only my table my bf had been sitting at but the other table that complained. I’m very understanding to restaurant staff. I’m also the LAST person to pull the race card. But when I see you give good service and attention to Hispanic and white people and ignore African Americans, it’s sad in 2023 we have to have this conversation and it’s disgusting. I will never come back to this place. I also saw one of the waitresses touch food to see if it hot with her fingers after dealing with money. And to top it off this was some of the nastiest Mexican food I’ve had. These were the worst fries, street tacos and queso I’ve ever had. My bf ordered a steak quesadilla that wasn’t tasty. Don’t waste your time or money coming here.
Jesús Alejandro Hernández: La verdad esta 6% de buena la comida pero no atienden bien las meseras contestan muy desagradable no saben atender bien perdí mi tiempo en manejar 2:30 para solo ir a comer hay

Lily's Mexican Restaurant: what do users think?
Donald Frailey: The pico de Gallo had great balance of flavors with just right amount of jalapeños. It has was insanely good. The salsa bar was excellent, not overpowering in terms of heat. But the freshness was notable. The chips were thick and a little chewy. It is ashame that they do not have a patio. This would be the perfect ingredients for day drinking!I really like this south city Mexican restaurant. The tacos are very good. Get the carnitas tacos. Got a selection off the menu. All were good the carnitas blew me away. The beans were great! The Mexican rice was ok. Truthfully I am not a rice fan. This was acceptable. It is veteran owned, something I like to see in the places that I patronize. This is a winner!

Maureen Quiroga-Anania: We want to love this place being in the neighborhood. We ordered at 7:50, tacos, queso, guacamole, and a coke. Our guacamole and queso came about 8:45 and our food arrived around 9. This is crazy for a Mexican restaurant, but had the food been amazing, not a big deal.Meat was over cooked and dry, queso was like cottage cheese, not melted/almost curdled. Guacamole had no flavor, and the food was lukewarm. The owner was vacuuming as people left, which was very loud. Meanwhile, the salt shakers had a film covering them and need a good soak. We even tried to clean ours off with a napkin and water but it was too thick. As a small business owner, you must keep your restaurant clean and serve hot food at the best quality possible.I will say the salsa was very good. All the reviews say 4 star, but how?

J B: I find this rude that companies demand reviews. Yet get butt hurt if a review is bad on it.However, I am an observer by long career of Security. So, I do pay attention in the interactions of other workers and other customers along with there reactions in them. But overall, I do prefer to only rate that individual or people that I to encounter during my visit. Most of my encounters was during COVID Craziness.. while I had worked for/ Delivery guy in behalf of DoorDash, GrubHub and UberEats.I don't do any more because of several issues both restaurant & customers behaviors. Along with safety and bad set up at either.I no longer deliver

Erica Brown: I visited this place twice and had a bad experience both times I revisited only because the food was good enough for another try. First visit hair on the menu ordered a margarita and it was some type of plastic inside of my ice I didn’t complain because the food was good. The staff customer service is trash the waitress‘s can barely speak English. And the supervisor or manager seems as if he had an attitude just terrible customer service I still paid tipped and left. Second visit I was seated table was dirty I moved to another table which was dirty as well the same man was mad because I moved he threw the menu on the table lol (only if he knew) I thought I hope the dishes are clean! food was alright shrimp tasted a bit raw and I didn’t really care for the birra tacos they tasted weird. but the customer service will throw anyone appetite off. I just don’t like the place and don’t recommend at all it’s better cleaner places in stl then to deal with unnecessary BS!

Instead of giving you the two large chicken tamales, they cut one in half to make two. It was really really dry and the chicken was extra dry. It will be a while if ever that I go to the restaurant again. Thank you for the opportunity to give my feedback.

Nixta: what do users think?
Matt Spencer: Just visiting to STL. We landed here on accident, because it's close to the botanical gardens. It was the food highlight of our trip. Best octopus I've had in the states.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Alex Besmer: Ah, Nixta. A place that defies conventional expectations, Nixta in Tower Grove, St. Louis, is a culinary masterpiece hidden in plain sight. The unassuming exterior might not catch your eye, but step inside and you'll find a quaint, colorful, and beautifully adorned space that promises a memorable experience. The decor is charming in its simplicity, yet immensely pleasing to the eye. It's not your typical fine-dining establishment, but that's where its charm lies. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, allowing you to focus on the real star of the show - the food. And what a gastronomic fiesta it is! Every dish is a revelation of flavors and textures, from the Guacamole and Escabeche, a vibrant medley of pickled vegetables, to the main plates that are nothing short of artworks. The Roasted Cauliflower, a rustic delight paired with Mexican squash and shishito pepper, redefines what vegetarian cuisine can be.Don't miss the Crab Empanada, where the richness of crab meets the crunch of a perfectly baked pastry. The Japanese Sweet Potato, while not on the online menu, is an unexpected yet delicious twist. Then there's the Chicken Tinga, a traditional dish bursting with flavor, and the Crispy Octopus, which is bathed in salsa macha and served with a refreshing broccolini salad and frijoles gigantes.Nixta presents Mexican cuisine as it should be - vibrant, fresh, and packed with flavor. It's not about oversized portions drowned in oil, but rather a thoughtful and beautifully curated family-style dining experience where each dish has its own identity and story. This isn't your regular Tex-Mex joint; this is a deep dive into authentic Mexican culinary arts.Everything about Nixta exudes passion and meticulous attention to detail, from the presentation of the dishes to the quality of the ingredients. If there's one place that serves authentic Mexican cuisine in St. Louis, it is undoubtedly here.Nixta, you've won our hearts (and stomachs). If there were a way to award six stars, we would not hesitate. Until then, a perfect five will have to do. Thank you for a truly unforgettable dining experience.

rosalind latham: It was cinco de mayo and we decided to go down to Cherokee street the day before the "big" celebration that they usually have. The streets were backed up with cars and people were arriving from all directions. We had walked a couple of blocks before we noticed Nixta, people were standing outside and we hadn't found any other places to eat, so we went inside. The line wasn't that long so my girlfriend went up to order some food, there were only three things on the menu and they only had one person taking the orders and the drink station was separate with a different person taking drink orders. I ordered the pork belly tacos and my girlfriend ordered the chicken tacos. The difference sauces were located on the counter so you had to go up and use a small cup to put some sauce in. They both were delicious but small so I tried to order another round but they had closed the kitchen already. We had a margaritas that was pretty strong but good. I guess they closed early to prepare for the next days events for cinco de mayo. We had a good time and called it a night.
Oniel Polanco: Over rated. Too expensive , the portion of food are for so small that I end up going somewhere else and have a Norma meal , and three drink for less…
Natalie Merli: Went on one of the busiest nights for them no doubt, Cinco de Mayo. We got there in the 9 o’clock hour and were told by the hostess, Natalie, we could sit at the bar if we wanted to be seated immediately luckily.Alex, the bartender gave us some great recommendations of mezcal cocktails, which were delicious. My drink was a special that night with green tea in it. Had the chips & killer salsa-so good, pork tacos, cilantro rice, & street corn (in bowl and almost soupy). Everything was delicious! Wrapped it up with three churros & the horchata ice cream. They had a live, authentic mariachi band with horns & accordion. Alex although busy, was very attentive. Glad we got to have a great Cinco de Mayo experience at this local gem.
Jennifer Ng'andu: Unhidden neighborhood gem in the heart of Shaw. Simple, but elegant. This is Mexican food at its finest. If I had been here another week, I would have eaten here 3 or 4 times. Make sure to start with guacamole. Yes, you can make it at home and yes, it is worth it. One must get the picante margarita with tequila infused with 7 peppers and the tajin rim. The smoked pork enchiladas with "Christmas" moles are perfection every bite and the octopus tender. If was cow I still might not be satisfied because I wouldn't have enough stomachs.Kid-friendliness: Not really atln atmosphere for children but you can bring them.
Adair Fuller: Great food and atmosphere. The large plates are just that, nice large portions, and the small plates make for great sharing options. We will be back soon!
Eliu and Naomi Gonzalez: Had a date night here a couple weeks ago.Ambiance inside is unique, nicely decorated and cozy.Staff was friendly. Our favorite dishes- The passion fruit ceviche is DELICIOUS! Nice bright acidity and flavor. The house made tostada served with it is the best we’ve ever tried. The mushroom enmoladas with pistachio were SO unique and delicious, the perfect not too rich comfort food that balanced the acidity of the ceviche. My husband ordered the skirt steak tacos and I ordered the grilled octopus- both were delicious but we both wished for the expensive price that the portions were just a little bigger.Drinks were delicious and fresh- even mocktail has high quality ingredients.Only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because I feel like we’ve been to many of the nice, true foodie dinner spots in StL and this one just felt a little overpriced in comparison. A nice date nonetheless.

Food was good, a bit steep on prices but quite filling. 2 small plates and 2 drinks ran us $70 before tip. No problems whatsoever but for the price I could have been more wowed.Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More

G: Normally good experience at this location. But today was not. Firstly, the waitress refused to look at me and instead stared out the window every single time she came to my table.; Which was to take my order and serve my food. As I ate I witnessed her stopping at other tables asking patrons how was evening. Never once did she come to my table to inquire. Didn't ask if I wanted dessert or refills on my margurita or watter. Maybe she didn't feel I was worthy of respect... Why is that??I'm a great tipper.... Always more than 20%. But today, it's not happening.

Octavia Thomas: I went to this location on Sunday, March 27, 2023. I must say I was not pleased. The two stars was because the staff was nice and did try to accommodate us.I ordered the Pollo a la Parrilla and it arrived with everything on one plate. The grease from the meat was running into my beans. It was not appetizing to see at all. So I did ask the manager to separate my items so I wasn’t eating greasy sides. The frozen margarita was very watery as well.My stomach was so upset after eating that meal. I’ve never seen that much grease on a plate. Unfortunately, I will not be back. I hate I didn’t snap a photo.

SURESTE Mexican: what do users think?
Warren Popp: It is exceptionally fine cuisine. The ceviche was pushing it on spice level for me, but I still added some of their spicy habanero sauce they offer on the side because it enhanced an already powerful flavor profile. Highly recommend.Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Jennifer Allen: The molotes de jalapeño y queso were so soooo good! Exactly what vegetarian food should be! The textures and flavor were spot on!
Andreas Apostolopoulos: Mind bending and possibly life altering Castacán Tacos bursting with flavors of Mexico's Yucatán!Crispy, crunch, fresh, and VIBRANT flavors abound with chunks of crispy rich pork belly, pickled tomatillos, radish, achiote oil, cilantro, and lime on heirloom hand made blue corn tortillas. Oh and a TINY thumb sized cup of charred habanero salsa that melts your face off in volumes of a drop. 👌#STL #MO
Nina Garcia: I have never had a meal that impacted my life so thoroughly. After eating at Sur Este my boyfriend and I learned to make our own tortillas and have been learning about Yucatán cuisine. Idk what else to say, this is maybe the best food experience I have ever had! Who knew you could do so much with corn!Dietary restrictions: Dairy free and gluten free options!!!!
Matthew Montoya Rush: Best Mexican food in St Louis! Every time we visit the City Foundry, we have to stop by Sureste. With wonderful, hand-made meals, you will always find something to satisfy your taste buds. Try the Sikil Pak - it is my go to!
Sarah Krawczyk: Ordered the quesadilla. It was a BEAUTIFUL work of art, but just did not taste good. It was un edible due to how hard the tortilla was and how burned it tasted. I've never seen this type of corn tortilla that was used so maybe that is how it is supposed to be but I think a more detailed menu description might solve the problem as the menu just says corn tortilla, I was expecting a standard corn tortilla.
Travis Harland: Order fish tacos. The taste smell and flavor were all negative. I would highly recommend dropping this off the menu. Gave me the feeling of eating candy cat food on under cooked tortilla. I couldn't even finish one taco due to everything being negative. Also very disappointed in the cost to proportion ratio.Kid-friendliness: Fish tacos are not kid friendly. Small very strongly of fish in a bad way. The proportions are not justified by the cost .
Kevin B: I just did not like this place. I got a quesadilla but as you can see, it’s far from what you think when you order a quesadilla. The tortilla was really crispy like a cracker. The guacamole was good but there is no option for size. The container could have easily fed 4 people. I ended up wasting most of bc you can’t really carry it around there. Also, the chips were very bland and needed salt. I probably will not be back….
Nicholas DiCesare: The pavo (turkey) tacos have so much flavor. The cochinita pibil (pork) tacos are just as good. It’s hard to decide what to get here because everything is 🔥.
Jer Wilcoxen: This kitchen in the STL Foundry food hall makes some astoundingly good tacos and sides, packed with flavor; real, next level tacos. Unfortunately, I don't think much of their tamales; the masa is dry, dense, and thick without ample filling. I can't say enough about those tacos, though (any of them).Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 3/5Recommended dishes Taco, Castacan Tacos, Cochinita Pibil Tacos, Roasted Fish, Pavo En Chilmole Tacos …More
Anna Ortiz-Aragon: AMAZING!!! First of all the home made chips are to die for. The guacamole is 🔥🔥🔥. The black beans are such an incredible flavor! I had the vegetarian tacos & all the fixing were fantastic. Will defiantly be back again! Can’t wait to try the horchata!Recommended dishes Taco, Guacamole & Chips, Rice & Beans …More
Brian Adler: We did not enjoy the two different taco dishes we ordered, and we are generally not hard to please with Mexican food. It was expensive, way over cooked, and had way too much salt (not to mention unevenly spread). On top of that, the service was just downright unfriendly. I managed to order and pick up my food without a staff member saying a single word to me. Will not go again.
Mary Young: Best pork belly tacos EVER!
Katie Dundon: So delicious! This was our second time to the foundry. My husband and I shared chips and guacamole, a pork tamale, and the pork belly tacos. Absolutely fantastic flavor on all of these! We also had a side of some delicious hot sauce that was a little too spicy for us but we kept eating it because it was so good. Definitely going to be coming back here and trying more delicious food. Everyone was super nice and eager to hear our thoughts. Highly recommend!!
Jose Artiaga IV: #3 Castacan Tacos were the best tacos I've ever eaten. Ever.I'm serious. The best. Ever.Vegetarian options: The beet tacos were fantastic. I also think the Castacan would be amazing even without the crispy pork, the radishes were really phenomenal.
Midwest Twisters: We had the Pork Belly Tacos, by far, the best Tacos we have ever had! Full stop!!!!!We will be back!
Christopher Galli: Locally sourced food, can't wait. All the best!

Spencer Hanning: Authentic, from scratch, homestyle Mexican food! These folks are serving it up right!I had the chorizo con Papa tacos and was very much satisfied! Delicious! I suggest dropping by for lunch!*UPDATE* HOLY TAMAL COLADOThis thing was righteous!
George Sackett: The City Foundry is an interesting place. A collection of "takeout" restaurants not unlike the old food courts at a mall BUT a much more upscale experience. Chef Alex, at Sureste served us a fantastic meal. We ordered two different tacos, cochinita pibil tacos and panuchos. Both were fantastic and full of flavor if a little messy. The two tacos each were more than enough for a meal but we splurged and also got a machete which was gorgeous to behold and also delicious. Let me put it this way. I turned many heads as I walked to our table. I even had people come up to our table and ask which restaurant provided us our meal and they went directly to Sureste to order their own.Besides being a wonderful chef, Alex is a wonderful person. We are excited to see him doing so well and look forward to the opening his own location.

Fonda La Poblanita: what do users think?
R Cusick: I used to live near here and never got to try their food, so I stopped in yesterday when I was in the area. The space is pleasing, with a menu that has plenty of variety plus there are specials posted on a chalkboard. They have huge water glasses, which is a bonus for the "heavy drinkers" like me. 💧 I ordered two al pastor tacos and one barbacoa. My food arrived quickly and that server (a different one than the person who had taken my order) asked if I'd like salsa. I said sure, then he offered chips! I said sure again. He brought salsa verde and yellow corn tortilla chips. He warned me that the salsa was hot and he wasn't kidding--but at the same time it was totally addictive. I probably ate 3/4 of the small bowl of salsa, and it was hot enough to clear my sinuses. The tacos were delicious and authentic, made with two corn tortillas and dressed only with onions and cilantro. The pork al pastor was simply delicious, and even tastier with a bit of the salsa. The lamb barbacoa was surprisingly chewy, verging on tough, but was quite tasty. The servers took turns checking on me. I was extremely happy with my meal and nearly did a double take when I saw the bill--$10! I felt full and satisfied. I felt like I was underpaying, so I tipped well. I'll definitely be back!Vegetarian options: They make vegetarian items with squash, which is unusual and cool!Kid-friendliness: There was a kids menu.
Jeccie Alvarado: Riquísima comidaFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Johnny G: If you can overlook the esthetics, this place offers insane bang for your buck for authentic Mexican. None of that Tex-Mex stuff found here.
Johanna Quezada: If you're looking for truly authentic & good Mexican food, give them a try. Overall pretty good. The only thing I wouldn't recommend are the tripa tacos because the tripa didnt seem well cleaned to me.
Michelle Cisco: I ordered on ubers eat. Kinda late and order the steak (carne asada) with no sour cream, with extra salsa. We got a burrito instead. And when I went to call they turned there order service off. I called twice. We was not happy with the service.

Janette McAllister: Delicious authentic Mexican food!!! Friendly service and so yummy! I had the steak Mexican style with pinto beans and rice and corn tortillas for about $12. This will be our new go for quick and delicious food when in St. Louis.
Chris Brunner: Excellent place to get quality Mexican food. Mexican owned and operated. I'll bet you any amount of money that when you go there anything you pick you will fall in love with immediately. But be careful you'll want to spend every dollar you brought
RJ Hubbard: Wonderful foods and service. Truly authentic on both points.I look forward to returning
Chris coco: I guess im not use to authentic Mexican dishes
Lupita Diaz: Super delicious! We’re from Kansas City and we were down here in St. Louis today. We were so undecided we’re to go and then decided here. I’m so glad we did. The food is amazing!!! I don’t ever write reviews but the food was so gire even my husband said “ponle 5 estrellas” lolWe had a torta cubana and a machete. Ugh my husband said we definetly coming down here whenever we’re back.
Dan Story: Incredible Mexican food. The steak burrito in particular is cooked to perfection.Glad to see it was fairly busy for a Sunday afternoon.
Kevin B.: Such a great authentic Mexican restaurant. Probably one of the best ones in the city. I highly recommended the pambazo if you like tortas. I will be back for sure.
Suzanne Chisum: Nice neighborhood authentic Mexican restaurant. Interesting menu items. Staff were very helpful.
Noell Cantera: Es un lugarPequeño. Su nombre lo dice fonda... pero esta buena la comida lo recomiendo 100% este lugar esta en mis 5 restaurantes favoritos en st Louis..👍👍👍the place is good! the food is delicious i put it in my 5 favorite restaurant in st louis👍👍👍
Gregory Rolando: A version of Mexican street food is served here, it’s just inside a small building instead of outside like in Mexico.I guess they make the best of the location that they have.

El Burro Loco Downtown: what do users think?
Stephanie White: The food was plain. I had the Pollo Adorado. I didn't know the mixed veggies were broccoli, cauliflower, and peas. That was the best part of the meal. Close to the Convention center.Food: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Byron Gehm: Recommended dishes Chimichanga, Steak Fajitas, Steak Burrito, Chips, Cheese DipMore
Alicia Quiroz: No AC, en environment is not family friendly at all, waitress/servers definitely don’t care for “looks”, they don’t even look clean !!
Bruce Nome: Good food the portions were a little small when it came to the amount of rice compared to the amount of onions and green peppers they give youFood: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Chips and Salsa, Steak Fajitas …More
Quintin & Alexandria Strawder: The best BIRRIA TACOS!Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Mallorie Bitzer: Run from this place!!!We had dinner here on 5/28/2023. When we first entered almost every table around the table they sat us at was dirty. There was only 1 guy bussing the tables but very slowly. He would stop and play on his phone in the middle of the restaurant and after he bussed the tables he never wiped any of them off!!!The dirty tables were all around the restaurant. It was not busy at all while we were there. We saw multiple male waiters literally leaning on the dirty tables with dishes even on them playing on their phones instead of helping clean anything up in the restaurant. They also have a portable air conditioner Right now, which is not a problem. But what the male waiters were doing in front of the AC was pretty disgusting while we were eating. They kept putting their faces, hair and bodies right in front of the Machine that was right next to our table!!The best part was all the dirt and trash on the floor. One guy noticed the rug RIGHT next to the air conditioner that leads into the kitchen looked dirty so he decided to clean it! He literally picked up the rug right in the restaurant and shook it out!!! Mind you that rug was like 6 ft from our table! My husband felt the dirt and debris hitting his legs and a waitress was bringing food out from the kitchen while all this was happening!!! By that point we already had our food and we could no longer eat!The pastor tacos are horrible as well!Pictures taken from our table.1st photo: Busser leaning on a dirty table taking a phone break while in the middle of clearing tables. You can also see the black rug on the floor that was shaken out.2nd photo: all those tables had been clearedBut the chairs never pushed in , floor not swept or tables wiped off. You can also see that there should be no reason for this since they were not busy!3rd photo: Showing the dirty table behind us that was never cleaned the whole time we were there.I wish we took more photos but we were on vacation with 3 kids and didn’t want to ruin the night complaining.I will add that we had the only female waitress that we noticed and she was very friendly and the only one that actually looked like she was working!
Trent Garrett: The service was subpar. The server seemed more concerned with himself than he was about his customers. The food made it to the table fairly quickly, but it was far from authentic Latino fare. The layout of the restaurant led me to expect a spectacular experience. It was not all that. I frequently visit Latino restaurants wherever I travel. This restaurant was downtown St. Louis, how disappointing. I would highly recommend the Latino restaurant in Pointe Clear, AL over this place. I spent over $60 if you include the tip and the whole experience may not have been worth $30. P.S.- I left the extra guacamole I ordered and it wasn't worth returning for.Vegetarian options: The Vege options sound good, but it left much to be desired.
Thomas Christensen: Food was just okay, but the margarita options were great. The atmosphere is pretty rough though, went for lunch and there were people clearly on drugs making out behind us. They didn’t order any food or drinks, staff just didn’t want to deal with them.
Shane Smith: Great food, great fun, great time

Madeline Eschbacher: Good food and drink but, service is lacking.I walked in a little after 1 pm to a nearly empty restaurant - except for maybe 2 2-tops and 4 bar patrons. After waiting 5 minutes at the host stand for no one to come, I helped myself to a menu and a seat at the bar.The bartender was gossiping with some other patrons (who were apparently friends) about some fight that broke out at a recent concert or festival - in his words, he was “so invested!”A couple minutes later he asked if I had been helped yet, at which point I admitted to seating myself since there was no host or other acknowledgement. He hurriedly asked if I wanted anything to drink besides water; I ordered a margarita - which he did have made pretty quickly, but not before continuing the convo with his friends. He took my order (almost for the wrong item but I caught it), rang it in, then continued conversing with his friends on upcoming festivals, where to get the best shrooms, and how he “met the devil” on one of his psychedelic trips. And hey, I’m not judging, do what you want in your free time - but your place of employment around paying customers is probably not the time or place. My food was brought out by another staff member, and the bartender could not be bothered to check in until I sat my card at the edge of the bar, ready to pay. The food was fine, but some utensils would have been nice! (I also got my own napkins.)All in all, it was just a rushed and not very inviting experience - especially for the price ($37+ for 1 drink, 1 entree, and a side of elote)
Dea' Vault: The customer service was absolutely horrible and they were so rude. Then the food was not up to standards at all. I been getting food from this place for yearrsssss and tonight was not it. I got the Arroz con pollo and it was a sloppy mess and barely any cheese.
John Myers: We came in with a very large group, and they accommodated us. We did have a little wait. It is kind of downtown in a rough area. Great food incredible service.
Ryan Hall: Food was poor no flavor order came out wrong waiter didn’t even write our order down had to get waiter to get our check. Just bad
A STEED: Best thing was the premium margaritas. Food had small portions, unseasoned and had my stomach hurting after. La Manganita: what do users think?
Victor Rivas: The service it is excellent. However, the menu needs to be more specific, One example shows fajitas, but do not say what kind of fajitas, and what ingredients.Vegetarian options: Quesadilla .
Baker Hoffman: Don’t pass this one up!!!
Benjamin Abbitt: One of the better Tex Mex/Mexican places around.Food was very good all around, with the note that pretty much everything needed salt. Easily remedied at the table, and when salted excellent, but an unfortunate oversight.Slightly hard to find by name, and a very small restaurant, but very tasty. They had musicians playing on a Sunday afternoon. Don't know if that's normal, but is a reminder of a place I used to live.Service was very good. We'll almost certainly be back.

kelli griffin: Popular and tasty spot. Authentic selections with great service!
Vicente Martinez: The best food in Cherokee Street
Samira Jones: My Husband and I love this place! So authentic and affordable.
Jarred Gastreich: Went there for Taco Tuesday and their special every Tuesday is tiny tortas. We gave it a try and they are amazing! They are similar to gorditas. I give them 5+1 stars because this Mexican restaurant is reclaiming Tuesdays for something other than tacos. Go give them a try.Stay away from the gigantic margarita. That thing is dangerous! You either won’t finish it, or you won’t be *walking* out of there.
Diego Magana: Recommended dishes GuacamoleMore
dave greenwood: Absolutely wounderful family restaurant. Highly recommend. !!
merrell hickey: Great place for dinner. Food was excellent and staff super friendly.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Paul Dombrowski: Simply amazing. This is probably the most authentic Mexican cuisine I've had in the St.Louis area. The atmosphere was great, the staff, so hospitable. My wife and I had a dish that was plenty for the both of us, with shrimp, beef, chicken, chorizo in a sauce with peppers, onions, jalapenos. We will be back for more.
Nick C.: Our server was a young man and was great. Very attentive (not enough to be too much) and the food was fast / tasty. Chicken fajitas were excellent - the chicken was different than other places, more of a chunk instead of a strip and it was great. The beans were good - the rice ok, the guac fresh and the standard salsa was phenomenal. The other two hot sauces were good too, but the normal one had a hint of heat and great flavor. I'll definitely visit again! Side note - if you are going to bring a largish party you may want to call ahead. Seating is a bit limited and if you go at a busy time it could be a challenge.
Ana Dombrowski: Excelent and authentic Mexican restaurant. I had the opportunity to eat the same dish in Mexico, the Molcajete Misto. Our waitress was a wonderful part of our experience. Thank you so much for such a great time of fun, food and friendly atmosphere.
Silvestre Natalia Preciado: Amazing food and service. Handmade tortillas, and the tacos are incredible. We went back twice during our trip to STL.I highly recommend going on Tuesday’s for their Al Pastor specials. The service is kind and generous.Recommended dishes Tuesday Special Al Pastor Torta, Cheese Dip, Guacamole, Negra Modelo …More
scotty j: Moderate to high prices not necessarily a dine in place but the food was good it's a choice of lemon pepper seasoning or not they gave me a free hand sanitizer on a key chain each time i went it's huddled in the corner so you have to look for it they give a lot of french fries if you order it. Food was tasty.
Insidius82 Drakes: Buen servicio, la comida caliente y muy buen sabor, todo muy delicioso.Gracias a mi compa Manny Garcia, su esposa y todos los del restaurante muy atentos, se los recomiendo mucho.
Kate B: Giant taco salad was absolutely delicious. I got the mixed meats - chicken, beef and shrimp and all cooked to perfection.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Jeff P: The best restaurant on Cherokee Street! Also my new favorite Mexican place. I've tried several of their dishes and they're all great. I especially like their soups, particularly the menudo.
Chris Anderson: Food was awesome prices were cheap
Joshua Scarbrough: This place is fantastic from the service to the food. Their lunch specials are such a good deal.

aimee radford: I ordered the Chava's Quesedilla, and it was amazing as always. It is such a great amount of food for your value, as well as the quality. While the chips and salsa are complimentary, it was the main motivator to finish our meal so we could keep snacking on them! Service was amazing as per usual. The workers are nice and polite. Only downside was the acoustics inside made it hard to hear each other. Chava's is normally bustling with people, especially around dinnertime.

The margaritas🍹 were made with real fruit 😋 so good. We tried pineapple, cherry 🍒, blueberry and he had orange 🍊. They do frozen or on the rocks and you can mix two flavors. Ok (pronounced oak) was fantastic. We took home the beef fried tacos for mom-in-law and she loved them too. We will definitely go back here.

Rachel S: The menu seems more unique than a lot of typical Mexican places (for example, their beans are served with more solid bits rather than completely blended, the salsa has a smoky flavor, etc). Just small things that make it stand out. Staff were quick and friendly. It was very busy the night that we went but we were still seated quickly and food came out fast.
