I’ll be dreaming about this coffee and sandwich combo until j can come back to St Louis.

Paul Leason: Coffee and food were great. The pumpkin latte I got was next level! The sandwich was also good, there’s a tomato jam inside that really kicked off the flavor. Seating is really limited, on top of that a lot of people in there working on laptops so it’d be nice to see them fill in the back of the cafe with an actual work station rather than up front seating. Just a thought.

Julian Bryan: Awesome coffee!!!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
switching “visible swager” fishbites: Great coffeehouse all around, but I'd like to focus on their espresso. They are incredibly unique because of their espresso. If you're an espresso lover who struggles to find a coffee shop pulling espresso that's flavorful and interesting congratulations on your good fortune at finding Sump. If you find the idea of consuming a plain espresso shot gross than forget all you think you know about what espresso shots are supposed to taste like and give Sump a try. They always give you multiple options of different espresso beans to try, and regularly switch out these options. Oh btw try all their pastries, they're amazing too.
Yael Paley: Loved Sump! Have been hearing great things and finally checked them out. Friendly service, nice patio outdoor seating, and truly scrumptious caffeinated beverages!
Chris Luth: There is no shortage of top-notch third wave coffee shops in the St. Louis metro area, but this one tops them all. This is one of the best roasters in the Midwest, if not the country. I’ve only explored their house espresso blend, but it is absolutely amazing, with absolutely the perfect balance of acidity, fruitiness, and floral notes to drink on its own or to punch through a little bit of steamed milk. The drinks crafted at the coffee bar are incredible. Every shot I’ve ever had a barista pull here has been perfection, and the milk is always impeccably textured. I think this may very well be the best cortado on the planet. And while it is almost a travesty to cover up the flavor of the coffee with anything else, the specialty beverages are always interesting and worth a try.Always my go-to shop when I’m in STL—it’s hard to stop myself at three beverages here and not walk out with a suitcase full of beans!
Coffee And Smoke: First off,I understand that coffee is a wildly subjective topic and it can get very complex, with that said I was disappointed with me 2nd experience with buying Sump whole beans (melting darkness roast).I purchased these same beans about 2 yrs ago and liked them enough so I figured I'd try them again since I ran out of my usual beans plus I like to support local whenever able..This time around the beans seemed vastly different. The roast appeared much lighter than before, which I'm aware that Sump roasts on the lighter end of the spectrum so I wasn't expecting some charred Starbucks like roast, especially since I've purchased this same roast in the past. There was also a lot of chaff and drastic inconsistencies in the bean size and color.I have a relatively expensive and good quality home grinder (flat burr) and I maxed out the fineness on my grinder and it still wasn't fine enough to dial this bean in.I have a step less adjustment grinder and have never had this problem with any other bean before.I can't explain what the issue is this time..

Andrea Eppy: A new favorite! Can’t believe I haven’t tried this coffee shop before.I got the chocolate lavender coffee, which was delicious. I also got some tasty banana chocolate cookies, which come in a 4-pack.Love the vibe inside, and there’s plenty of seating outside at tables. Will definitely be back!Update 3/31/23:Still one of my favorites in Stl! Love the new Tagalong coffee. Sadly the Ethiopian beans I bought from here recently were too hard for my burr grinder and jammed it. Still love the coffee shop though!
Doug Fry: Excellent cappuccino! Knowledgeable staff that will explain the different coffees availableService: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Catalyst Coffee Bar: what do users think?
kayla muir: Great coffee, very friendly staff !
Perpetual Voyager: Went here four times while I was visiting for work. Baristas made delicious cortados. I tried a few other places and this was by far my favorite. It’s cool that this is a public gallery to check out work from local artists.
Elysa Doherty: Realllllly yummy toffee nut latte with good prices in my opinion!!
Aaron Heard: Great service and great coffee. For all the visiting Australians, this is the place to come for real coffee 🇦🇺

Leonard Trojan: Happen to visit St. Louis, and of course, did my research on the best coffee shops.. This spot didn't disappoint! The space is very artist and you're literally in an art gallery where they sell the coolest art and the coffee section is designated to support artists as a non-profit which is really cool.. very spacious and clean...Believe I dealt with Todd. He was the coolest guy ever! Explained my drink and to my surprise, he made it perfectly! He even poured my steamed almond milk in front of me to ensure the exact pour. The Cortado was so rich yet not bitter...20 yrs of drinking coffee and I honestly must say.. BEST COFFEE EVER compelling me to write a quick review...If you're in town for a ball game or any type of business, this is the perfect spot! A couple blocks away from everything in St. Louis! Thanks Todd!
Sherry Nelson Thomas: Recommended dishes Cookies and Cupcakes, Drip CoffeeMore
Cody Cummings: Catalyst is a gem! They have excellent pour overs and lattes, and some great snacks if you need to munch. It’s cozy atmosphere and the art gallery makes for a visually engaging place to sit or work while you have some wake-up juice. Their location is very walkable and I would recommend stopping by if you’re headed to the city museum or to the library.
Katrina Hunkapiller: Had the seasonal “chocolate covered cherries” coffee and it was phenomenal!! The barista was super friendly and had some awesome stories to share. All the sales support Art Saint Louis, so happy I stumbled across it
Robert Barnacle: Decent downtown option for coffee but the food is lacking. The options are typically vegan cookies and muffins with the occasional other baked goods. Good service, but can take a bit to get your coffee as they make not of it pretty fresh.Food: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Fresh Brew, Pour Over …More

John Dunstan: Cool outdoor space. Very good latte and danish.
Jeffrey Lowe: Everything about this place is terrible and it isn't worth a visit. For a place with a giant wall mural of "Control the Narrative," they sure were quick to treat me as less than and talk down to me. That is, when they bothered to acknowledge me at all after standing at the counter for 10 minures without so much as a look. Everybody in this shop was rude and couldn't be bothered with me today. Once they got my money, they were even ruder. If this is how you "Control the Narrative," then I don't want anything to do with you. Next week's episode of the STL Coffee Tour is going to be short! Don't go here. They're not worth the wait. (Edited spelling)

Cami: There's better coffee shops for the money. I went for the first time today. Had no idea that they didn't like people standing near the counter to wait for their drink. One of the girls behind the counter very rudely told us to leave and wait for our order. We had no idea how we'd know our order was ready so just took a seat outside. They eventually called our order over the intercom. The drink was just okay there were grounds at the bottom. Less than average experience.
bronwyn miller: the coffee is excellent, but the food definitely leaves something to be desired (especially the egg wrap)
Nathan Flory: Their entry set up was a bit weird- sign said only one person at a time could be in the ordering area but the converted outside area was nice with heaters and benches----- strawberry latte was really good- they have a restroom in the back.

Alex Besmer: Step into a world of flavor and fun at Cafe Dolce on The Hill, a vibrant gem on The Hill. This chic cafe's undeniable charm is palpable from the moment you walk in. With a “Great” 5-star rating, let me share the incredible journey of taste and service that guarantees an experience worth cherishing. Our coffee adventure began with the Iced Matcha Latte, a refreshing concoction that boasts a perfect balance of sweetness and the robust flavor of matcha. If you're a fan of iced drinks, don't miss the Iced Vanilla Latte - a smooth blend of quality coffee and creamy vanilla that will cool your senses and ignite your taste buds. For those seeking warmth, the Peach Hot Tea, with its calming aroma and soothing taste, is a comforting delight that shouldn't be missed. The food at Cafe Dolce isn't just a side show - it's a star in its own right. The Blueberry Scone was a dance of flavors in our mouths, bursting with the sweetness of fresh blueberries wrapped in a delicately baked treat. The croissant sandwiches were a revelation - flaky, buttery, and generously filled, they are a testament to the cafe's commitment to quality and taste. But Cafe Dolce isn't just about fantastic food and drinks. The service is exceptional, and the ambiance is fun and visually pleasing - a testament to its status as a top St. Louis hotspot. Nestled in a great part of town, the cafe's location adds to its allure, making it a destination not just for a quick bite, but for a delightful culinary adventure. In conclusion, Cafe Dolce on The Hill is not just a cafe - it's a celebration of great food, phenomenal drinks, and a vibrant atmosphere. Oliver Carnazzo: Great coffee and great accessibility! There’s an accessible entrance off Shaw and plenty of tables. If you’re a wheelchair user, the bathroom is spacious, but the location of the sink makes it very difficult to roll up to the side of the toilet for a transfer. Everything else in the bathroom is easily within reach.

Jill Niesman: I love Shaws, wish it was open on Sundays. They understand coffee and make my Breve perfectly everytime without questions. I also buy their beans and loved the all the varieties of roasts I have tried thus far. The shop is an old bank with beautiful wood work and lots of space. It's my go to place if I want a great Breve.
N King: Great coffee, super fun atmosphere but limited food selection, not very friendly staff and they don't take cash. I always tip with cash but never tip when forced to pay with a card and then forced to leave a tip or awkwardly deny a tip. Pay your employees better and then they won't need tips.
Barry G: What a cool coffee shop in the heart of the Hill neighborhood. The coffee was wonderful and they also have real fruit smoothies. Interior decor is great. Looks like it was an old bank building. They still have the safe deposit box room. A decent amout of tables to spread out. Definitely will be back!Parking: Parallel parking on the adjoining streets.

Crave Coffeehouse: what do users think?

D a r i a F a s n a c h t: i’ve been here just a handful of times over the past several years.. prob won’t be coming back because other coffee shops taste a lot better for the same (or lower) price. one time recently here i had to ask them to remake the latte because the espresso was bitter from sitting too long..the manager didn’t seem too happy because that was a waste..my most recent visit i had to wait about 5 ish minutes before my order was taken.

Austin Milligan: Cool place, like the atmosphere
Cassie M: Very cool coffee shop on college campus. The oat milk latte was top notch and the veggie wrap was great as well. I really enjoyed Crave as a brief stop on a road trip and would recommend to others!
nikki Edwards: This unique coffeehouse was once an old church. Now the baristas serve up heavenly cups of coffee to get you ready for what the day brings. My cup of Holy Brew paired well with my avocado toast with tomatoes and goat cheese. Can I get an amen from the choir?!!!
Steve Moore: Nice, quiet and quaint coffee and sandwich shop. VERY reasonable prices. Very friendly people!!
J Min: They will make sandwich gluten-free and as I have wheat allergies this is great. Food is great
Hailee Smith: Coffee was delicious but the breakfast sandwich was exceptional!! Super friendly staff too!!
Ruby Ficklen: This place is beautiful, sweet and convenient. It’s Kaldi’s coffee products, coffee specials that rotate monthly and an array of breakfast, lunch, and non-coffee beverage options. Lately I have been grabbing oatmeal (includes fruit, maca powder, hemp seeds and pecans) and an iced latte. I see lots of students ordering frappes and bagels, too. Their lunch menu starts at 11am. Another plus — they have 20oz coffees. The staff are all helpful and kind but occasionally there is only one person working, but I am never in a rush so it doesn’t bother me.A note about accessibility — the front door of the church/cafe has stairs, but there is a side door that leads to the patio. I believe you would be able to navigate a stroller or wheelchair using that entrance. There is lots of room inside and outside to have a seat and enjoy your drink, your book, or use the WiFi to study. This feels like having our own secret Kaldi location. I’m really grateful they’re here. The website says they are non-profit and while I don’t 100% understand how that impacts their model, I hopeful I am putting my daily coffee habit to good use.I think Seth makes a good point that it is housed in a church, there is religious imagery and Christian content present inside. I see why people may want to know this ahead of time to determine their own comfort level before proceeding.
Alana Parks: Loved the vibe, warm and welcoming, coffee was amazing, but my new fave are the sugar cookies!!!Dine in: Yes Outdoor seating: Yes Takeout: Yes …More
Will Gaffey: Extremely good service, went here with my good buddy for our annual Poggerton celebration and couldn’t have had more fun. Highly recommend.

Black Forest Kaffee Haus: what do users think?

Hunter Wolf: Feels a bit like you're entering a fairy tale when you walk in. They have a great space that's inviting and well laid out. Good coffee and decent breakfast fare.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Breakfast Sandwich …More
Eric Eggemeyer: Amazing little coffee place! It has wonderful decor and great vibes! I love their coffee.
Bethanie Reid: First time visit today had me thoroughly impressed. The dirty chai, drip coffee, and almond danish were delicious and the overall vibe was top notch. Great place to spend a quiet Saturday morning
Dean Wimpfheimer: Be transported to another time and place. It feels like you’re in an house inside a German fairytale from days gone past. My daughter and I have gone to a different coffeehouse every week for much of the last year. This is my favorite. Truly a unique experience with good coffee and food.
Charlotte Anania: Service was great! Love the black forest mocha!
Technicolorful: Offers a unique yet familiar cup of coffee. I had the Carmel latte and it had a hint of spice in it which I’ve never had before. As someone who’s almost been to every coffee shop in the St. Louis I’ll be coming back.
Kevin Gerstner: Awesome atmosphere and really unique specialties! One of the best coffee shops in STL
Val Miliken: Absolutely fantastic coffee shop!! Kid friendly, business meeting friendly, and everything’s delicious!
Ryan Charlston: One of the better hot almond chai drinks in St. Louis that I have found in the last year. The danishes were very fresh. Thank you for the calm and charming/whimsical environment 🌿 Very friendly patrons and barista.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Gretchen Kliewer: Love having a coffee house so close to home. Favorite place to hang out and work or meet up with friends.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Michael Lee: I got egg-bites and an Americano. I’d say the quality of both was a touch above Starbucks. The decor isn’t exactly my thing, but I’d still rather spend time here than a crowded chain-cafe.
Craig Sadler: Great small coffee shop. Fun place that I am looking forward to visiting again. Serves Kahldis coffee.
Zachary Hansen: This location is so immersed in its aesthetic and I love it! The drinks were great and the German light fare was so good! In particular their Bavarian and Beer Cheese pretzel was to die for. Will be visiting again!
Tucker Butler: Take a step into the Black Forest through the perspective of one of Grimm's fairytales. This coffee shop located between Compton Heights and the Fox Park neighborhood features delicious coffee and food items with a German twist. I recommend getting one of their coffee specials like the Black Forrest Mocha and definitely ordering a slice of Black Forrest cake if it is available! I have yet to try their breakfast and other food options, but I am eager to come back to have a bite to eat. Another welcomed addition to the fantastic coffee shop scene that the St. Louis metro has to offer!
Brittany Shadduck: This place is SO cute and cozy! I got a breakfast sandwich and an iced matcha latte and both were delicious.
Amaris Peters: My husband and I would love to visit this coffee shop again, when we went during our StL coffee tour, our lattes were over-syruped and too sweet, but we believe it was just the day and that they have the ability to make very good drinks. Apart from the lattes, we absolutely loved the genuine friendliness of the staff, as well as the really neat, old medieval fairytale aesthetic! We loved the dedication to the medieval theme throughout the shop with decor, design, layout, and even music. We stayed for a while and enjoyed ourselves with the quiet harp music overhead and studied by the window seats for a very lovely and productive afternoon. We did not get food during this visit but would love to come back and try some of their food options and of course more coffee drinks.
Myrah Whittington: I live right around the corner from this cute and amazing coffee shop! Love the vibe their and the way they make their coffee taste so good and fresh! Recommend checking it out if your around town :)
Stefanie Roe: Love the theme!I am an espresso drinker...it was Perfecto!!Looking forward to trying many other coffee options......Incl a new mushroom macha(?) coming soon!!Cannot wait!!!
Ronald Schnatzmeyer: I just love this place.

Evan Saint Clair: Lovely decor, book selection, gaming area and staff but the coffee and the espresso were not quite there. Perfect place to sit and work or gather for hours thoughService - 5, really enjoyed talking with the ladiesEspresso- 4, full-bodied and dense but without much flavorDrip - 2, no flavor and slightly wateryPastry - 3, Samoa cookie was a bit too dense, soft and needed some thicker and crunchier coconut
Rebakkah Johnson (Dr.Bex): Perfect place. They even babysat my phone overnight when I misplaced it there. 5 stars ain’t enough
Happy Austin: Loved the vibe, the barista, the coffee, the sweets (OMG, that Samoa cookie!). Really lovely place, so many vegan treats, and remarkably clean. If I visit St. Louis again, it will be my first stop.
Bradley Peltz: Went in for a bagel. Came out with a blueberry muffin that could make a grown man cry. Staff is awesome and muffins are amazing thanks!
Brittany Edwards: I love Protagonist so much! The books, the quirky vibe, the themed drinks, the bonus unexpected things like burritos and ice cream and fun little cards and gifts, and the staff is all great.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Chacane Loceco: A delightful quiet atmosphere with the scent of books, fresh brewed coffee and delicious sweets. Staff is attentive and kind with an easy approach. Lemon bunt cake and a nice hot chocolate to sooth a tiring drive, cozy and pleasant. The art on my hot chocolate was a cute surprise
James Yang: Good place to study

Austin Patton: I tried three of their pastries:-Cinnamon Roll: This was my favorite of the three. I thought it was neat how they changed the presentation of the cinnamon roll to appear more like a cupcake. I thought this was going to create an issue with not getting enough frosting with each bite at the base of the cinnamon roll, but it almost tasted like there was tiny bits of frosting between each layer of the roll. It was also super moist, so I have to give this cinnamon roll 5/5 stars. This thing was cash money.-Orange Scone: While this was my second favorite pastry, it was still very good and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a pastry that likes oranges. The frosting on top was great! I do think the scone itself could've been more moist, but overall it was a great experience eating this pastry. 4.5/5 stars.-Samoa: Nothing to write home about, although I do wonder if I received a cookie from a bad batch as this cookie was much wider and much flatter than the cookies that were being advertised in the display case. I slightly regret getting this cookie as it probably wasn't worth the calories that I consumed eating it even though I normally love samoas. 2/5 stars :(
Kristen Becker: I ordered a birthday cake for my boyfriends birthday, and it was delicious!! Truly one of the best cakes I have ever had. It was amazing. I will definitely be back to order another cake for a special event! Thank you!(Air Bubble was my fault. I left it in the backseat for 10 minutes when it was 95° outside. I picked it up in perfect condition!)
Marit Ivory: Cute coffee shop. A TON of seating and tables. Probably 14 tables, three couches and some lounge chairs. Tasty baked goods, priced $4-6. Drip coffee was average. Plenty of street parking. Free wifi. Friendly staff. Not too busy on a weekday morning.
Joel Rubel: This is a great little cafe in the heart of Soulard. It has become our regular breakfast place when we visit. On the weekends, they add to their already broad selection with made-to-order breakfast burritos that are as delicious as they are big. Plan for leftovers or to split with someone!***UPDATE***2023 visit was even better than our original! Highly recommend this great little café in Soulard. Especially if you like breakfast burritos!
Bethany Spitzmiller: Great coffee, great atmosphere. There's something special about working in a quiet spot surrounded by books and drinking a great latte. I also splurged and bought a pair of funky earrings haha. I'd definitely recommend.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Kaldi’s Coffee: what do users think?

Julia Manoogian: Kaldis was such a welcoming environment- it felt like I was at home. Our barista Rachel was so sweet and made the perfect drinks for us!! Highly recommend when Rachel is there :)
Jonathan Kraft: Had an iced vanilla latte here that was fantastic! If I lived in the area, it's possible I would frequent this place.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Matthew Maurer: Kaldi's is the best coffee in St. Louis. I know they're not as small and niche as some coffee shops, but they've got their art down. My go-to is simply a 12 oz. Mocha with oat milk. With or without whipped cream depending on my mood. For food, I really like the black bean burrito or the egg and cheese bagel. You will find at any Kaldi's, including DeMun, a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly baristas, and top-tier handcrafted beverages.Kaldi's baristas are trained to do latte art, and they put effort and care into crafting your beverage. This is in contrast to Starbucks that pumps out drinks as fast as possible to maximize revenue. The DeMun location has seating inside and out, and you can't beat sitting outside on a nice day, which is right across from a park. It is a smaller cafe, so seating can sometimes be limited inside especially over the weekend. There are also limited AC outlets, so be sure your laptop is charged if you plan on doing a little work from here.If DeMun is too crowded, you can always try their other locations on Skinker and in the Central West End. Both are very close. The DeMun location's food selection is also strictly vegetarian, so if you are craving meat, you'll want to choose a different Kaldi's. They do have meat alternatives, though.Vegetarian options: All of the food at this location is vegetarian.Parking: This location has some of the best parking of any Kaldi's in the areas. Both the skinker and central west end location have much fewer parking spots and are usually paid. This location has free street parking which there is usually plenty of.
Grace Wright: Service is great. Wish there was more seating.Parking: Decent amount of street parkingDietary restrictions accommodated Dairy free …More
Brice Shultz: The Demun location is always extremely slow. I only ever go here because it is close and I have been trying to spend a gift card I have had for years. Expect to wait 30 minutes for a smoothie and a bagel, or if you get something to-go, expect them to forget the butter you had to pay extra for, etc.
Noob Infinity: first time seeing this place. But the coffee was delicious, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes mocha. This is the best cafe in St. Louis.Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Katherine Smith: Recent unfortunate experience where we waited for over half an hour for a salad. It was sitting waiting in the "to-go" despite being ordered "dine-in." We were left with what was clearly a half order of a salad which made for a very delayed and overpriced experience.
Ethan F: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Breakfast BurritoMore
Brian Trigg: Great neighborhood place but seems like the coffee has been off lately. The service for the food was less than reputable lately as well when there was at least 8-10 employees and it took 45 minutes for a breakfast bowl.Fairly positive it was forgotten about.
Bruce Verkruyse: The coffee and food is always good here. They were a bit under staffed. The seating area is old and it was not kept clean.Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Colleen: They are closed, but you have no way to know unless you go and see the notice on the door. The sign says 2/8 and maybe 2/9 and 2/10, but they're still closed on 2/12.
Rodolfo Ploder: A place for students and faculty
Justin Winchester: Love Kaldi coffee. Aside from the coffee they have a great selection of teas and finger foods. Scones, breads, and a few sandwiches.Mostly though just a chill place to hangout. Have meeting, see an old friend. Just by and relax.
Koala Mandel: There are some good folks working here, and some presumptuous little humanoids, too. May you always be graced by the former.
