Lacey Ramirez: Serious coffee, grungy studious vibe, and their tomato feta scone was delicious. I came here with my dad (a fellow coffee enthusiast and professor at SIU) and we both agreed it was a great coffeeshop to go to on a Sunday morning.
Kayla Hipp: Chill vibe, delicious coffee and the breakfast sandwich was 10/10. Usually the breakfast sandwiches at coffee shop are prepackaged Starbucks quality—not the case here! The biscuit was amazing! The egg was fresh and perfectly seasoned! The savory jam tied the whole thing together! Paul Leason: Coffee and food were great. The pumpkin latte I got was next level! The sandwich was also good, there’s a tomato jam inside that really kicked off the flavor. Seating is really limited, on top of that a lot of people in there working on laptops so it’d be nice to see them fill in the back of the cafe with an actual work station rather than up front seating. switching “visible swager” fishbites: Great coffeehouse all around, but I'd like to focus on their espresso. They are incredibly unique because of their espresso. If you're an espresso lover who struggles to find a coffee shop pulling espresso that's flavorful and interesting congratulations on your good fortune at finding Sump. If you find the idea of consuming a plain espresso shot gross than forget all you think you know about what espresso shots are supposed to taste like and give Sump a try. They always give you multiple options of different espresso beans to try, and regularly switch out these options. Oh btw try all their pastries, they're amazing too.

Chris Luth: There is no shortage of top-notch third wave coffee shops in the St. Louis metro area, but this one tops them all. This is one of the best roasters in the Midwest, if not the country. I’ve only explored their house espresso blend, but it is absolutely amazing, with absolutely the perfect balance of acidity, fruitiness, and floral notes to drink on its own or to punch through a little bit of steamed milk.The drinks crafted at the coffee bar are incredible. Every shot I’ve ever had a barista pull here has been perfection, and the milk is always impeccably textured. I think this may very well be the best cortado on the planet. And while it is almost a travesty to cover up the flavor of the coffee with anything else, the specialty beverages are always interesting and worth a try.Always my go-to shop when I’m in STL—it’s hard to stop myself at three beverages here and not walk out with a suitcase full of beans!
Coffee And Smoke: First off,I understand that coffee is a wildly subjective topic and it can get very complex,with that said I was disappointed with me 2nd experience with buying Sump whole beans (melting darkness roast).I purchased these same beans about 2 yrs ago and liked them enough so I figured I'd try them again since I ran out of my usual beans plus I like to support local whenever able..This time around the beans seemed vastly different.The roast appeared much lighter than before, which I'm aware that Sump roasts on the lighter end of the spectrum so I wasn't expecting some charred Starbucks like roast, especially since I've purchased this same roast in the past.There was also a lot of chaff and drastic inconsistencies in the bean size and color.I have a relatively expensive and good quality home grinder (flat burr) and I maxed out the fineness on my grinder and it still wasn't fine enough to dial this bean in.I have a step less adjustment grinder and have never had this problem with any other bean before.I can't explain what the issue is this time..

The space is very artist and you're literally in an art gallery where they sell the coolest art and the coffee section is designated to support artists as a non-profit which is really cool.. very spacious and clean...Believe I dealt with Todd. He was the coolest guy ever! Explained my drink and to my surprise, he made it perfectly! He even poured my steamed almond milk in front of me to ensure the exact pour. The Cortado was so rich yet not bitter...20 yrs of drinking coffee and I honestly must say.. BEST COFFEE EVER compelling me to write a quick review...If you're in town for a ball game or any type of business, this is the perfect spot! A couple blocks away from everything in St. Louis! Cody Cummings: Catalyst is a gem! They have excellent pour overs and lattes, and some great snacks if you need to munch. It’s cozy atmosphere and the art gallery makes for a visually engaging place to sit or work while you have some wake-up juice. Their location is very walkable and I would recommend stopping by if you’re headed to the city museum or to the library.

Jeffrey Lowe: Everything about this place is terrible and it isn't worth a visit. For a place with a giant wall mural of "Control the Narrative," they sure were quick to treat me as less than and talk down to me. That is, when they bothered to acknowledge me at all after standing at the counter for 10 minures without so much as a look. Everybody in this shop was rude and couldn't be bothered with me today. Once they got my money, they were even ruder. If this is how you "Control the Narrative," then I don't want anything to do with you. Next week's episode of the STL Coffee Tour is going to be short! Don't go here. They're not worth the wait. (Edited spelling)

Cami: There's better coffee shops for the money. I went for the first time today. Had no idea that they didn't like people standing near the counter to wait for their drink. One of the girls behind the counter very rudely told us to leave and wait for our order. We had no idea how we'd know our order was ready so just took a seat outside. They eventually called our order over the intercom. The drink was just okay there were grounds at the bottom. Less than average experience.

Ruby Ficklen: This place is beautiful, sweet and convenient. It’s Kaldi’s coffee products, coffee specials that rotate monthly and an array of breakfast, lunch, and non-coffee beverage options. Lately I have been grabbing oatmeal (includes fruit, maca powder, hemp seeds and pecans) and an iced latte. I see lots of students ordering frappes and bagels, too. Their lunch menu starts at 11am. Another plus — they have 20oz coffees. The staff are all helpful and kind but occasionally there is only one person working, but I am never in a rush so it doesn’t bother me.A note about accessibility — the front door of the church/cafe has stairs, but there is a side door that leads to the patio. I believe you would be able to navigate a stroller or wheelchair using that entrance. There is lots of room inside and outside to have a seat and enjoy your drink, your book, or use the WiFi to study.This feels like having our own secret Kaldi location. I’m really grateful they’re here. The website says they are non-profit and while I don’t 100% understand how that impacts their model, I hopeful I am putting my daily coffee habit to good use.I think Seth makes a good point that it is housed in a church, there is religious imagery and Christian content present inside. Tucker Butler: Take a step into the Black Forest through the perspective of one of Grimm's fairytales. This coffee shop located between Compton Heights and the Fox Park neighborhood features delicious coffee and food items with a German twist. I recommend getting one of their coffee specials like the Black Forrest Mocha and definitely ordering a slice of Black Forrest cake if it is available! I have yet to try their breakfast and other food options, but I am eager to come back to have a bite to eat. Another welcomed addition to the fantastic coffee shop scene that the St. Louis metro has to offer!

Apart from the lattes, we absolutely loved the genuine friendliness of the staff, as well as the really neat, old medieval fairytale aesthetic! We loved the dedication to the medieval theme throughout the shop with decor, design, layout, and even music. Austin Patton: I tried three of their pastries:-Cinnamon Roll: This was my favorite of the three. I thought it was neat how they changed the presentation of the cinnamon roll to appear more like a cupcake. I thought this was going to create an issue with not getting enough frosting with each bite at the base of the cinnamon roll, but it almost tasted like there was tiny bits of frosting between each layer of the roll. It was also super moist, so I have to give this cinnamon roll 5/5 stars. This thing was cash money.-Orange Scone: While this was my second favorite pastry, it was still very good and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a pastry that likes oranges. The frosting on top was great! I do think the scone itself could've been more moist, but overall it was a great experience eating this pastry. 4.5/5 stars.-Samoa: Nothing to write home about, although I do wonder if I received a cookie from a bad batch as this cookie was much wider and much flatter than the cookies that were being advertised in the display case. I slightly regret getting this cookie as it probably wasn't worth the calories that I consumed eating it even though I normally love samoas. 2/5 stars :(

With or without whipped cream depending on my mood. For food, I really like the black bean burrito or the egg and cheese bagel.You will find at any Kaldi's, including DeMun, a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly baristas, and top-tier handcrafted beverages.Kaldi's baristas are trained to do latte art, and they put effort and care into crafting your beverage. This is in contrast to Starbucks that pumps out drinks as fast as possible to maximize revenue.The DeMun location has seating inside and out, and you can't beat sitting outside on a nice day, which is right across from a park. It is a smaller cafe, so seating can sometimes be limited inside especially over the weekend. There are also limited AC outlets, so be sure your laptop is charged if you plan on doing a little work from here.If DeMun is too crowded, you can always try their other locations on Skinker and in the Central West End. Both are very close.The DeMun location's food selection is also strictly vegetarian, so if you are craving meat, you'll want to choose a different Kaldi's.
