Student of the Word of God: Kept hearing about this great place near the City market, so my wife and I decided to go. #1, we were sat in the corner near some dead plants so maybe that’s what caused the flies and gnats to invade our space. #2, our server wasn’t too pleasant. #3, a gnat flew into my food, when I tried to get my server’s attention, she walked right past me. D B: Our group had a fun brunch experience, and I look forward to going back. We started with the cinnamon roll which has bacon pieces on top; it was good but the roll was a bit dry. The biscuits and gravy were great, and the bacon was cooked perfectly. We also ordered the mimosa tower, which was pretty good. Lastly, the service was excellent and our meals came out on a reasonable amount of time.

Diane McKinney: One of our favorite Sunday Brunch spots! We like to sit outside and this summer they have added a shade cover so it's more comfortable out there. All of the food we've had has been amazing. There is a regular Sunday brunch menu as well as a special menu specific to that day. I was dissapointed that they had run out of the ingredients to make the Mimosa special so I was forced to drink a regular one :(

It was very large. Beware lol. It’s very sweet but the frosting is amazing. Got Lord kyler for the main meal. It was pretty good. I was imagining normal sausage, not pork sausage lol which would’ve made it better I think haha but flavoring was great. 👍Huge portion. And it came with super cute tiny fries 🍟 Lolol. Daniel Nagati: You might be wondering why the average reviews of this restaurant are so high after you eat here. It's because this used to be an excellent restaurant before new management took over. Now the food is bland, the menu is stale and overpriced, and the service is terrible. If you were curious why a restaurant would only be open 2 days a week, it's because no one ever comes here. Head over to the next closest restaurant , which is at least open every day, even though their food is mediocre.How many days a week are you open for dinner now? (It's zero)

Jonah Hanft: I want to try this place out since I didn't want to go into downtown and pay for overpriced burgers and when I saw that it was supposed to be authentic food from Jalisco I got really excited.Once I went upstairs I was allowed to seat myself and my server came over immediately and took my drink order for horchata. Upon receiving it, I was pleasantly surprised as it wasn't the normal Agua Fresca I was used to. It had all the sweetness I remembered from when I lived in Mexico and none of the powder at the bottom.For dinner I ordered two Al Pastor tacos and their version of a grand wet burrito. The tacos were flavorful and the salsa was delicious, but slightly on the mild side. Then came the burrito.The burrito was bad. The carne asada was rubbery with alot of gristle attached and far to much seasoning (cumin I think). On top of that, the salsa was a mild that I've never had before. I mean NO heat. My expectations for authentic Jalisco food were crushed. Maybe they meant Jalisco, Norway, but it definitely wasn't Jalisco, Mexico.So for $30 (that's with tax) I got half a decent meal, but I would have loved to have a meal that was delivered as advertised.

Cherrelle Crawford: We came here for Mothers Day brunch and I was truly disappointed. There wasn’t much of a selection on the buffet. No waffles, pancakes or crepes of any kind. The potato’s were cold and the only thing that I really enjoyed was the omelette station. At first the waitress seemed nice but you could tell he was overwhelmed because we would have to keep reminding her about drinks, she messed up our bills.

Bryan Whitehead: I’ve been dining here since before it was called La Bodega, so naturally it’s an enduring favorite for me. I always get a combination of tapas, so I don’t have much experience with entrees or salads. The small plates are outstanding. Almost everything I’ve gotten here has been an excellent combination of good basic cuisine and delicious sauce. I’m a big garlic fan, and they do an especially good job with garlic-intensive flavors.I just about always get the brotxeta and the papas fritas con ajo. From there it depends on what’s on special, what my companions want to try and what happens to catch my eye. As I said, I’ve almost never gone wrong. They also do a good job with cocktails. On my most recent visit I got an allspice daiquiri that was quite good.The service here is excellent. I recommend going during happy hour for the cheaper tapas and reduced noise level. Getting lots of small things can add up to a big bill at the end of the meal, and parking can be a little weird. But really this is one of KC's best dining experiences.
Ben Valley: I love tapas places and they are too few. This place is EXCELLENT! If you've never tried or you love tapas..... GO! They also have crazy cheap happy hour deals that are almost HALF OFF! You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't go. There are few places like this a one. Happy hour is Monday to Friday from 2 to 5. Bring a date, bring a spouse, bring of your friends, or go alone. BUT GO!!!!!

Emily Simpson: This place was okay. It was obviously trendy, but I went there with my dad and his older friends, and they couldn't understand the menu, and then you're outside and you've got the noise from the cars driving above you. The two tapas items that I picked from the menu for the table were a hit, but the other two that the table just went with at the suggestion of the server were kinda meh. The drinks were delicious, though. And though noisy, the patio was super cute. I think I'd have a different experience going back with friends. Not for the older crowd, I'd say. I think it could be a 5 star experience if I went with my girlfriends.

Avery Epstein: The food was fantastic. We did not know what to expect but everyone enjoyed their meal. I got the pork/pork belly, and the meat was cooked perfectly. My stepmother doesn't really eat red meat, but she said if she lived in KC, she would come back every month just to eat the Friday special (she is from Chicago). Sheila Young: What an awesome brunch spot! From the time I called to make the reservation to the time I exited the establishment, everyone was so kind & attentive! Derrick, the manager was very personable, patient, kind and helpful. My best friend & I felt very welcomed & taken care of on our first visit. The mimosas were delicious, and the steak & eggs were to die for! I definitely feel like we've found our new brunch spot. Parking was a breeze, the vibes inside the establishment were good, and all of the staff members were accommodating, even if they weren't assigned to you directly. My friend and I had such a great time and experience. We are looking forward to many more visits in the near future!

One of the best I've had in KC.Tavern-y ambiance, great service.Small note: they smartly give you LOTS of fries with the burger. Dawnel Davidson: The food at Blvd Tavern is just, flat out, delicious. The steak is cooked perfectly, medium rare is soft pink and beefy. Fried cheese curds are light, crispy, and tasty. Cocktails are well made and thoughtfully presented. This tavern should be a local hangout or drop-in for the neighborhood. Staff really takes a personal interest in ensuring a good experience. Shea Love: Me and a few girlfriends decided to have brunch here for a birthday. We had the server Javier who we automate knew did not want to serve us. We actually heard him ask “why was he called in today?” One persons food came out at least 15 minutes before the rest of ours. The another bun was over cooked and Javier reached in her plate with his bare hands and took the bun back to the kitchen.One guy there with a very deep voice. Baritone (Ryan Williams) voice was absolutely amazing and made us feel welcomed. Javier should probably only work when he is scheduled.

Connor Alexander: Got reservations for Mother's Day Brunch here for 6 people. They put us in the back room that had folding chairs & tables, minimal AC, a too loud DJ, and weird lighting that gave me a headache. The weirdest part was we were the first one's there and they sat us in the back. Joey Enderle: Went there for dinner Saturday for my friends birthday dinner and first thing I saw was the manager yelling at two girls as I cross the street. Right away it set the vibe and when I got in barely any people in there for dinner at 730. Staff is not knowledgeable about drinks. Can't make a mojito or a margarita. Staff also lied about not having veggies for substitutions as our friend got green beans with her cordon blue. My other two friends was forced to have salad instead of green beans when they didn't want fries or totes with there steak. I had the most bland Cajun pasta and even told the man I'll taste it and compare it to mine. Penne noodles would of elevated the dish but they use cheap swirl noodles. The shrimp was over cooked and the no Cajun spices at all. Had to drown it in salt and pepper to get it to taste not so bland. Only thing that was good there was the fries. Also they cannot split checks so make sure if you go with a large group make sure everyone has cash or Venmo. Never will be back.
Ashley Harvey: Saw the food menu and wanted to try this place out for our Saturday night outing. As we parked our cars and was walking to greet each other to walk over together a lady which we found out was named Megan was hollering at us very rude telling us we could not park there assuming we were not coming to her establishment and/or because of our skin color as she did not yell at anyone else. After her yelling at us we decided to find a different place to try. We moved our cars and started walking down the sidewalk to try a different place and she proceeded to speak to us negatively. She was clearly under the influence. Would not recommend coming here. If I could give it a -0- I would.

We were parking in their lot because we were coming in for dinner but after being screamed at we decided this wasn't a place we should visit. Patrick Mullin: This place has fallen off hard. Used to be a reliable spot with good service and quality food (I miss the original kfc wings), and now it's a bit of a disaster. On our most recent visit the bartender who served us was definitely under the influence of something. Repeatedly had problems remembering our orders, was bumping into and dropping things, and put items on our tab that we never ordered in the first place. If what we received was decent quality then maybe it could be somewhat excusable, but even a basic vodka soda was flat and tasted off. We won't be back.

Linda Rounds: Great BBQ!!! Can't remember the name of the sandwich waiter recommended and not listed on the online menu. It had burnt ends, sausage and their homemade slaw. We ordered burnt ends and grits along with their cornbread hush puppies. Then the peach bread pudding and cream brulee was wonderful. Everything looked so good we way over ordered and took half home to heat up later. Would rate this way over some of the older BBQ places in KC. Brandon Lassiter: The food was delicious! Tender burnt ends, moist ribs, and flavorful brisket along side some yummy bbq beans and potato salad. The side upgrade to french fries is well worth $1 as the fries are amazing (comparable to KC Joes). In my opinion none of the places in KC (MO or KS) that I have tried can touch Char Bar! By far the best I have had and will definitely be back! Earl Fowler: This place is an excellent add to the Plaza area. An upscale restaurant that has a southern soul about it. Our group ordered 4 completely separate items from the menu, sampled each others food and the overwhelming response was that this food tastes great! The service was a little slow but we were there at prime time so a little leniency was in order. The waiter was quite nice and did time refreshments almost perfectly. The only thing that was a huge distraction was the temperature in the area we were in was like a sauna! Ugh it was sooo hot but the view outside was good from their newly installed great window facing Ward Pkwy. I will definitely revisit this location and hopefully in a more tempered area.

Danh Nguyen: Came for brunch over the weekend, I was advised to reserve in advance. I've heard that this place is popular and it was busy during the time we were there. The brunch menu is quite extensive and we found something that we each wanted, the traditional american brunch menu items that you would expect to find. I had the Plank with a side of sprouts and my friend had the Texas biscuit. The Texas biscuit was a large portion. The planks i got were also fair size (i took the option for all three). I had choseni t specifically as it was advertised as the only farm to market option they had. We were satisfied with how they tasted, but the sprouts were especially delicious. Pricey at 10USD for a side though.We took a mocktail each, the berry mocktail which was very tasty, and the Dimples, which was less so.The only thing I didn't enjoy was that I felt rather rushed. They indicate that the reservation periods are 2 hour slots which is fair, but asking if we'd like to box up our food an hour after eating is a bit much. I eat slow for one, but we were also just enjoying each other's company whilst making dents into our food, we weren't dismissing it completely to indicate that we had finished. Granted the waiter accepted I was still eating when I told him but felt he was hovering a bit too much.

Emily M: Mediocre at best, struggling to see why this place has the good reviews that it does.The menu specifies that their chicken & waffle dish is a fried chicken breast. I specifically ordered it because i prefer white meat, over dark meat. I even asked the waitress about it and she recommended it. It came out with fried chicken that was obviously a thigh. I asked the waitress if the menu said it was supposed to be a breast, because i thought i may have misread the menu. She thought it was a breast, but checked with the chef. She came back to table and insisted that the chef says it’s a breast. I am experienced enough with both preparing dishes, as well as dining out frequently all over the country, to know the difference between a thigh & a breast. But for those(like their chef)who don’t know the difference, i’ll break it down. The 1st thing I noticed was the shape, they are 2 very different shapes. I cut it open to find it was dark meat(thigh) rather than white meat(breast). Thigh meat is also a noticeably different texture when you cut into and look inside. I would have even been ok if they apologized and said they ran out or some excuse like that. But false advertising + plus a chef that can’t tell the difference between a chicken thigh & breast??? Disappointing meal & experience.
