My wedding cake was from here, as well as several other cakes over the years, and they’ve all tasted fantastic; always beautifully decorated, too. The white cake with white buttercream icing is the best I’ve ever had.

Marc Vasquez: This is the second year I've used Nellie Custom Cakes for my son's birthday and a second year they hit it out of the park. Tucked away in Claycomo, MO, this isn't a flashy shop. Instead, they put the bulk of their efforts into great service, exceptional cake flavors and amazing designs. I've provided them with soccer theme ideas in the past and they reproduced them flawlessly. Definitely worth it for your celebration.

Ana Chavarria: Good vibe. It is my first time getting Matcha Latte and I couldn't taste anything... I had to put stevia to at least feel that I was drinking sweet cold milk. Salmon toast was ok but nothing impressive. Chocolate cookie had a good texture. I had a good time while having breakfast and reading. They have a good seating area. So overall it is ok, I was not impressed with the food. Maybe I'll come back to try something else.
Audrey Kuhn: Usually love this place but as someone with food allergies, I wish they would change ingredients on menu when they update items. I can’t eat onions and usually their chicken salad doesn’t have onions but I just ordered it (I’ve had in hundreds of times before ) and it has onions all over it. That ingredient isn’t on their ingredient list for it.

CDub 1962: We love McClains. Been going there for over 30 years! All of their danishes are the same formula and as delicious as they were back when the McClains owned it. One thing that bothers me though is they always run out of sticky buns before 930 am and that's the way it's been ever since the new owners took over. That shouldn't happen. Simply make more of them so they last till 11 please. We will always keep buying their danishes because there is nothing like them anywhere.

In fact, we ran out of cake because many people took 2-3 pieces. She also made a rugby ball cake as the groom's cake and it turned out fabulous as well. Kay is so sweet, artistic and very talented. I was very impressed with the service on how they made and designed it just like the photo I sent. The cake tasted amazing, and all of my family and friends who attended my birthday party were saying how delicious it was and tasted. I definitely will be reaching out to Cake-A-Boo in the future for specialized cakes.

We threw a surprise birthday party for my best friend and I have her a little detail as to colors and what she would like and without even knowing bestfriend she nailed it! There were some hiccups along the way with technically computer errors but she worked with me with only realizing within a couple days that I needed it that the email didn’t go through and still went above an beyond! So lovely and the sweetest person I have had the pleasure working with! Very understanding and caring I just... words cannot describe how amazed I was with the cake, the service just everything was great! Most importantly the birthday girl was more the surprise and more than over joyed! I could not be happier! I already had the cake topper picked out but even without it, it would have been stunning!

Robin Jones: This review is not about the cupcakes themselves. I don't know how they taste. They may be delicious. However, my family and I didn't get a chance to try them. We took a trip to the plaza to see the lights and get dessert from Cupcake A La Mode, checking to see what time they closed first. When we arrived at 8:30 we were surprised to find the door locked and the woman inside not reacting to our efforts to come in since they weren't supposed to close for another 1/2 hour. Very poor business practices which means they lost this customer.Edit: You might want to reflect the winter hours on your website then.

Arianna Middlebrook: Worst sense of customer service at this location. You’re much better off taking your money to their Lees Summit location. I ordered half a dozen cupcakes 5 days before the pick up date. They called me 30 mins before the pickup time to tell me they were “sold out” of the cupcake flavor I had put an order in for. They said they “sold out 3 days ago” but if that was the case then why not relay that info to your customer when it occurred? Knowing that there was already an order in place. When I asked why it was not communicated to me earlier, the employee said she had no idea about the order and that the manager, Jennifer oversees all of it. (Terrible communication all around I guess). When I asked for some form of compensation for the inconvenience the employee said “I don’t know why it’s a big deal when we have other flavors”.... not taking into consideration the food allergens that prevent me from ordering others which I had already informed them about. 0/10 service and I would not recommend placing orders here at all.

Fabiola Herdoiza: Wow...just got off the phone after trying to place an order online. When I was going to pay, a warning came up that it was not a secure form. They did give an option to call the Plaza store directly to pay. I called and was told the order hadn't come through and they were too busy to write it down and take it over the phone. I got a confirmation a few minutes later and called after half an hour. I was told they would call back in a way that did not make me feel like they valued me as a customer ..more like I was bothering them. It was a small order of only four cupcakes, but I don't think that should impact the quality of service. This woman was very unhelpful and bordering on rude She did call back and asked for my credit card number, expiration date, and security code. I was not comfortable giving my security code and asked why they didn't use a more secure form? She said, you are welcome to go somewhere else, because she hadno time for this.I am going somewhere else.I like their cupcakes but I will never order from them again because I don't like how I was treated...life is too short.

The Golddigger was super moist and full of flavor, the wedding cake one of the most delicious cakes and frosting combo I have ever had together, and the other is Salty Carmella and OMG!!! I love to support local and this made it easy with how fresh and tastey these all were.

Brad Teaford: Everyone should experience pastry this good at least once in their life! I tried the cream cheese fried pie and the apricot Danish. I cannot remember ever having pastry baked this perfectly before. The staff was super friendly too. I will definitely be visiting again!

Debbie Collier: We drove 25 minutes to go get these cookies that they made for our baby shower for our first granddaughter they are absolutely incredibly cute and decorated detailed their sugar cookies are absolutely heaven we also bought cinnamon rolls and some donuts while we were there picking up our order and everything taste just homemade from scratch fabulous bakery wellworth your time to go there two thumbs up!
CarModities PAL: I don't know what someone was smoking when they gave this place 1 star, this place, and the people are great. They have ONE problem, and it's that they are too far from me. But I will drive from Belton when I'm jonesing for one of their chocolate eclairs!

jeanine jones: I used to live in the area some 30 years ago...I would take my daughter up there...now when ever I’m in the area I always have to stop in for the butter cookies...today was the first time I went to use my bank card and was told it was cash only...I never knew that because I always used cash in the past...the gentleman that served me gave me my purchase and said just pay for it next time you come back...with all the things going on in the world today that really touched my heart...ok course I went and got the cash and came back and paid...these people are always so nice...I love the energy in the store...keep up the great service...see ya soon!

Kayla Russell: Everyone raved about the wedding cake! It was carrot on one level and lemon on the other… the best! I also ordered cookies with our initial, “Mr. & Mrs.”, and “love”. They were done so well and really added to our table. We had a small, intimate, family wedding and Dolce treated us like royalty. I recommend them to everyone!
Ashton Ettleman: This was the easiest part of wedding planning. My husband and I ordered the wedding cake tasting box and were able to sample all their flavors at home. We then scheduled an appointment to go in and iron out all the details. We chose a variety of flavors in both regular and mini cupcakes and a two tier cake for cutting and serving. My favorite was almond and my husband liked the lemon so we were able to do both flavors in our cake, one for each tier. I loved that they sent an online portal that had everything we needed and allowed us to make payments online. They were a huge hit at the wedding and I definitely recommend getting some of the mini cupcakes and wished we would have gotten more. People liked being able to try all the flavors and they were great for the kids!
Jordan Chapman: Came from Florida for my niece and nephews high school graduation and was given the last minute task of graduation cupcakes. Drove around the city all day trying samples from some of the best bakeries in town. Knew I had found the one when I tried a sample of their icing.Dolce's cream cheese buttercream icing was hands down the best in town. They were also able to fulfill all my graduation cupcake needs at last minute, as well as setting me up with a box of assorted baked goods to keep the kids out of the cupcakes before the party (my favorite was the peanut butter brownie).Will definitely be visiting again next time we're in Kansas City!
Christopher On: Amazing and Delicious! The place is filled with delicious smells and everything looks amazing! I indulged in various flavors of cookies and the CINNAMON ROLLS!! Those are delicious! Friendly staff, delicious food... what else could you ask for?! Highly recommend :)

Dana Lucio: Such a cute little coffee shop and bakery in Prairie Village. I thought I had read they had more gluten free options, but sadly there were not any gluten free treats aside from a flourless espresso torte. Absolutely decadent though. Also had the oat milk cappuccino. I heard nothing but rave reviews about the cinnamon rolls and other treats.

Gabrielle Queen: Ordered a small custom cake. First time customer, I had heard rave reviews. It was just ok. I appreciate the ease of ordering online and the friendly staff. But the cake was very dense, like a pound cake but somewhat dry. And yes, we set it out at room temp for an hour before cutting. Tried it again at 2 hrs. Ate the same day we picked it up. Crumbly, dense and a bit tough. The raspberry cream cake has zero raspberry flavor besides the fresh raspberries on top. Needs some lemon or jam to punch up the fruit flavor. Overall extremely unimpressed.

Kelsey Benz: I have been following Kim's social media for years but sadly never had an event big enough to order for. As soon as my fiance and I got engaged, I booked her for the wedding! Seriously, I had her locked down for our date before we had anything else - not even a venue! I trusted Kim implicitly with the design of the cake to fit our wedding vibe and as expected, it was stunning. And the flavor was TO DIE FOR. My only regret is not getting a bigger cake so my husband and I could have a lot leftover 😊 I really don't think anyone in the area can top Kim in Kansas City. She is a true artist and goes above and beyond to make your event so special and memorable. Highest recommendation!

Emily Spillman: Kim is an amazing cake artist, and in my opinion--an engineer! I had a difficult request for a gothic steampunk cake for my husband's birthday and she blew us away! Pictures don't do it justice. Everything from the edible jolly rancher crystal that lit up in the dark, to the hand-built rhinestone cake plate, the mini spotlights and realistic intricate details made this cake over the top. Not to mention it was delicious. I will definitely be reaching out to KCCake Lady for all of my important events. We can't recommend her enough. A MILLION STARS!

Janis Budenz: She makes the most amazing looking cakes I have ever seen. Creations of art not just cute cakes. Add to that she uses buttercream frosting throughout most of the cake. And her cakes are incredible. They taste every bit as good as they look. Only problem is they are so realistic many times people hate to cut them. She has done many cakes for me. Several were English and French Bulldogs. They looked real. She doesn't charge nearly enough for the work she does. Very affordable. Only wish didn't live so far away from her now. I miss being able to order Kim's cakes.
