Avery Epstein: The food was fantastic. We did not know what to expect but everyone enjoyed their meal. I got the pork/pork belly, and the meat was cooked perfectly. My stepmother doesn't really eat red meat, but she said if she lived in KC, she would come back every month just to eat the Friday special (she is from Chicago). If you have the chance (and it is not too hot), sit outside! The beer garden is beautifully done!

Mikala Gardner: Incredible. Best meal I've had in awhile. So unique, everything you get will blow your mind. The ribeye was so tender and juicy. Perfection. This is a must go in KC. We went in and just grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered all of our entrees with the bartender. The live music addition just perfects the atmosphere!

Aaron Wong: I’ve been wanting to try this spot for a while now and so glad I got the chance. A buddy of mine brought me here for my birthday and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in Kansas City. It was a Monday night and we didn’t have a reservation, so the host sat us up at the bar. Really not even worth mentioning except it was at the very end right next to the service well so it was a little distracting at times. The menu is New American/Italian/Asian fusion. We took recommendations from our server who may have been the floor manager. She helped us navigate the menu and we ended up ordering seaweed doughnut and crispy pork ribs to start. The seaweed doughnuts were decadent, think savory beignets with hint of seaweed smeared with a trout roe crema. The flavors of the crispy pork ribs heavily reminded me of a Vietnamese dish, bun cha. Next we had spicy strozzapretti and XO fried rice. The strozzapretti definitely stole the show, both of our favorite for the night. So much so we ordered a second. We still had a little room after so we asked for another suggestion and landed on the mushroom burger. It wasn’t a patty like I had expected, but more akin to a mushroom sloppy joe. That being said it did not disappoint the taste buds. Needless to say I’ll be back with the wife and friends in tow so I can try more phenomenal offerings from this menu.

I felt the portions were small. The thing that was so disappointing was that I chose the place based on a live music performance. There is one table directly behind a beam with nearly total obstructed viewing. Of course, that's where we were seated. I was so excited to try a good, albeit expensive, place and enjoy a show. I had reservations and everything. I couldn't enjoy the show I came to see. There was no forewarning or acknowledgement of the situation. zhuoxin wang: I made reservations long time ago at tasting room for my bf birthday. I left note when I made the reservation. And told them the moment I step in. nothing special for his birthday. And the picture is a small bouquet I paid for 75 plus service fee and taxes. This place is way over priced. And the girl server give me a feeling that she doesn’t even want to serve our table even they charged 100 service fees. Final bill is $620 for two ppl not worth it at all. I rather use the money to other fine dining at least they give me a sparkle candle for birthday. bad experience. Won’t come back

Had a great drink before our table was ready, asked server for another prepared the same way. He looked confused, we told him which bartender made it and what was different. Jaleeah Jones: I walked in and was greeted right away by an older gentleman:) I can tell this place is very family oriented I noticed it’s clean, well put together and had nice pictures of family and maybe customers on the wall. I had a chicken Parmesan sandwich it was really delicious! The only thing I didn’t like was that they do not use gloves when preparing the food. Since I didn’t notice until after I paid I just prayed over my food, and that they wash their hands around the clock and sanitize.. other than that the meal I had was still really good.

Fran Keal: My adult children and I enjoyed our visit to the Russell. The building is a bit nondescript on the outside, and the parking is around back. The inside is decorated in a very eclectic manner and is very interesting and conducive to staying for a nice chat. We sat inside, but there was outside, seating as well. Orders are placed at the counter, and food is delivered by servers. The menu was interesting with a wide variety of options. All of us liked our entrées and even enjoyed a gluten-free walnut brownie afterwards. Highly recommend for a relaxed, casual evening.

Aisha Wills: We tried this establishment on Saturday after hearing about them on social media. The food was pretty good besides the Brussel sprouts which tasted charred and burnt. The venue is open seating, you choose what u want and order it before you sit down. Water, tea and lemonade are free, but regular beverages like coke for instance, you pay for by the can. Patrick Walker: A nice, updated take on the typical schnitzel and sausage fare you typically find in German restaurants. The brat trio was delicately flavored and nicely sauced. Preferable to the seafood risotto dish, which was competently executed, but nothing beyond what you’d find in another good local restaurant. The Painted Table dessert was remarkable in sweet flavors and in flame-illuminated presentation. Truly unique.

We got the Hummer Poutine, Risotto von Meeresfruchten, and Jakobsmuscheln mit Entenleber. It all was so good - loved the seafood. Woodsie Woods: First time and it was great. Ordered off their new seasonal “white asparagus” menu. The white asparagus soup had a nice deep flavor but was a tad too salty. I was very excited to see morel mushrooms on the menu with the white asparagus and morel mushroom spatzle. This dish had a nice sherry cream sauce, however it overpowered the delicate flavor of the morel mushrooms. Overall pleased with the quality, especially with these recipes being a fairly new addition.
Racheal Soendker: Truly one of the best restaurants in KC. Make a reservation to ensure you can be seated. Especially on the weekends. This is not a place to go if you are I'm a rush. They know how to time the dishes so you are sure to be finished with appetizers before the next course is brought out. They give you time to enjoy each course. If you choose to do a bottle of wine, the server is good about coming back to pour it timely. And the food is amazing. If you can, make sure you get there in the spring for the white asparagus menu. Shiona Deliozar: The service was excellent and the staff was really awesome and attentive. We thought the tasting menu itself was pretty average for the price. Everything tasted fresh but kind of lackluster, especially the apps and dessert and the Black Forest cake didn’t really have the layer of cherries like it’s supposed to. Still happy to try the place out with my hubby for my birthday dinner. We spent around $150 and left very full and satisfied.

Eunice P: The tartar was very yummy though a bit too salty. The veal schnitzel was dry, overdone, and a bit bland and the condiments and cucumber salad too sour. The beef roulade was like fancy meat loaf and tasted okay. The cabbage was delicious, but, again, a bit on the sour side considering it took up the majority of the plate. The drinks, vibe, and service were fantastic. I would have rated this a 4/5 but one of our party had stomach issues after eating the beef roulade and cabbage. I may give this place another try, but probably not for a while.

Daniel Hoerr: What an experience! I sat solo at the bar and happened to come in about 5 minutes before the end of happy hour on a Friday night. The bar staff were quick to point out their HH menu and took my order asap to get in a couple specials before it ended. Service was phenomenal, you can just tell these people care about their guests. True hospitality. And the food - From apps to pasta to oysters to dessert right down to the bread, olives and oil, this place is top tier. One Might expect that from a chef with a James Beard, but it’s still impressive. Every detail seems to shine. In a lifetime of excellent culinary experiences, Farina shines. And I don’t give that praise lightly. Also perfectly paired cocktails and wines. Che buono!
Q Nguyen: Absolutely delicious! I’m from Minneapolis traveling with my wife. We decided to try a nice restaurant like Farina. What a great option for fine dining. The restaurant is gorgeous. On side is a little louder than the other. We sat on the quieter, more romantic side with comfortable wing back chairs. Our server Betsy was attentive, kind, and courteous.The star of this place is the food. There is a valid reason why the average rating is 4.8. Such delicious flavors. The pasta is house made. Nothing we ate was overly seasoned. I ate a wood fired ribeye which is better than most steakhouses. My wife had leek campanelle and seared halibut.For dessert, we ordered the panna cotta flight- and absolutely must order item.Yes, this is a fine dining restaurant, but it is a fabulous one at that! Well worth my money and a fun experience.

N B: Horrible. I ordered ‘SPAGHETTI CACIO E PEPE’ earlier this evening. It was drier than Sahara desert and uncooked. I tried taking two bites, gave up. Inedible.We spoke with waitress and she said that’s how it is. I don’t believe that because another one of my friends ordered the same thing, it was properly cooked and swimming in sauce or melt cheese. Onion rings were cold. I’d give 0 stars if possible.This is probably the worst food I have ever had in my life.I won’t go back and will discourage others.

Jim H.: I have eaten at a lot of high end places which have disappointed me, but this is not one of those places. I had a ribeye which was cooked to perfection. Another party member had the filet mignon which just melts in your mouth. Nice romantic atmosphere, nothing pretentious about the decor or staff. This place is not cheap - $180 for two which did not include drinks or dessert - but it was worth every cent. One thing to know is there is no on-site parking so you need to find street parking nearby.

Included sides were excellent. Escargot was great, and the garlic/butter sauce it came in was insanely good. We foolishly had a late lunch and were too full to try salads/soups/desserts, but I'm sure they're all amazing as well based off of what I heard people around us saying. Service was impeccable. This will definitely be my choice for birthdays/anniversaries going forward.
