Mark Smith: Solid Four Star. Highly Recommend.Pros:Staff - All show pride of ownership in working here. Management are friendly and professional.Maintenance - The facilities and property are all well-maintained.Location - Close to Truman library, restaurants in abundance, and safe neighborhood.Sleep - The bed and linens were so soft and high quality. I'd love to have those sheets at my house. Room was very quiet. Very little heard from hotel traffic or outdoors.Cons:Housekeeping - Although the bedding was fantastic. I could smell the previous occupants perfume/cologne on the comforter. Also, both the clock radio and TV remote were gross; and were ironically under a sign noting how cleanliness is their top priority. Sadly, I checked-in at night with limited staff, or I would've notified them of the issue. But, the next morning management were quick to address the issues.Yes, I would definitely recommend staying here, and would gladly be a return customer.Food & drinks: So-so. Although the eating are was well tended and cared for, the food itself was bland and fair at best. You may leave still feeling hungry.Noteworthy details: I have to stress again how great the staff is here. The maintenance, front desk, dining, and management were all exceedingly friendly and highly professional.

Chaney Connelly: Went with my 7 year old and husband. Although we live here, we just went for a week and was stayed for a change of scenery! Hotel atmosphere was nice and light. Last time I visited the decor was too heavy. Rooms were too dark and beds weren't so great. Haven't stayed in a room for a long time so I wasn't sure or the money, our suite was The pool was clean and a great distraction for bored children. Accomodations were nice. King size bed was fabulous. Clean. Staff was great.

DJ Hermen: The buzzkill fun police Bethany at the front desk screamed at us for having an “open container.” Instead of being polite and using appropriate customer service skills she decided to go the opposite direction. Claims that Independence MO has a law about having an alcoholic beverage in a lobby. If that’s the law/rule, fine, but we are likely from out of town since we’re at your hotel. Rudeness gets one star ratings and the next time we visit KC to see the Ambush play we’ll stay elsewhere. Lots of options, and Bethany lost your business.
Tony Suarez: The only reason this hotel didn't get 5 stars from me was because half the TV channels, including FOX, NBC, and CBS we're unavailable due to technical issues at the hotel with Dish Network equipment.Otherwise, the rooms were great. Matt Maguet: Never been to hotel room that was more dirty than this one. Upon arrival, garbage cans were full and there was make up on the bathroom towels. Couldn't shut the bathroom door all the way, didn't fit into the frame right. The top blanket on the bed was dirty with crumbs on it, went to take it off and there was dried vomit on the comforter (See the picture). They tried to cover it up with the top blanket. Overall felt like the room hadn't been touched since the last guest left. Not impressed.

Triggitty Gawd: If you dont show up by midnight they will cancel your reservation with no refund. Got screwed out of 120$ and had to drive all the way back to michigan with no sleep. Lady at front desk was nice, tried to call GM to fix the problem but the GM just fowarded her calls. I really liked myplace and have stayed at many across the country. Never again.

Chrissy Hennessey: I regret booking to this hotel based off a couple things. At 2am the people above us were very noisy, and the desk attendant took a while to ask them to quiet down. The bed wasn’t very comfy. And the smell of smoke filled the hotel. However, the other desk attendant Takila was awesome and so nice! Made good conversation and cared about our concerns. Elizabeth Arthur: Had one of my field guys stay here while doing some out of town work, first night power was cut to the entire building, and when it came back on, multiple cars had been broken into, including his and had items stolen. Called the cops, but couldn't do much since there was no security footage due to the "power outage." Second and third nights same thing except instead of the whole building just the security cameras and parking lot lights were cut. Do not stay here unless you want your car broken into.

Heather Rowland: My boyfriend found this hotel, when there was no availability at the hotel chain he usually books. What a quaint little find! I wasn’t sure what to expect when we first arrived, as it is pretty hidden among a somewhat residential area. But it was fantastic! Number one most important thing to me is cleanliness! This place is clean! I was impressed, and that’s not easy to do. I would go as far to say that every dollar I’ve spent somewhere else (and we’re talking about decades of 5-star hotels, $200-$300/night), was wasted on rooms that don’t come close to how clean this one felt!You sure can see the difference when a hotel is ran by the very people that have an “interest” in it. They are invested, and they treat it accordingly. We will visit again!!We even had a skylight in our room….do you realize how nice that is, to get real sunlight from above, in what’s normally a dark hotel room? 😍 Fantastic!! 👍🏼😁

Josh Herrman: A bit pricey. It's unique. The interior is a little weird. Place was very clean. The bed was soft and comfortable. The room was pretty stuffy without AC. We think that they control the temp even though there is a thermostat in the room but we turned it down but it didn't help any. Breakfast was lame with weak coffee. Yes, this place is unique and has some character but we didn't think that it was worth the price. We probably wouldn't stay there again having experienced the place now.

Alayna Bryan: This hotel is dumb. The hotel was overbooked but did not call to let our person, who had reserved the rooms very prior to visiting, know that they only had one room available for them. They waited until the night of while we were out to a concert to call and tell us that we would only have one room. The service in this place is ridiculous. I heard in the lobby that one man had waited over an hour for his single suites to be cleaned out. They should have had that done very prior to the check in time at 3pm. Then when we returned from the concert they told us there was nothing they could do and that the manager would have to call the following day to maybe give a refund. I would not suggest this place.

jackson remacle: Maybe the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, we payed for 2 rooms, one for two days and one for one day cause my uncle got here a day before us. The day we got there the check in personal was extremely rude and snippy when we asked when are second room would be ready, That I was sitting in there game room which was unlocked they promptly kicked me out with no reason and were quite rude about it. Jim C: We have stayed at Candlewood at least 9 weekends in the last year. The location is great and rooms are clean. And staff is friendlyHowever,things are changing. I have noticed a turnover in staff and well as management.With our last stay I was charged twice for a third night reservation(1st was made through Priceline)Long story short...the hotel would not return my calls after speaking with the manager..who BTW messed up the reservation.I finally had to contact my credit card company and they got the charges reduced (as of now)BUT NOT completely taken off. Better than nothing I guess.We will never return to this hotel.
Kaitlynn D: As always, the Candlewood Suites is a pleasure to stay at, this particular location even more so.I had to book two nights last minute due to inclement weather during my travels, and the front desk ladies were very accommodating. They got my dog and I into a last minute room and they were just overall very pleasant and sweet.The rooms are clean and filled with everything you could need for a short or extended stay, and the coffee in the room really is way better than other hotels.There is no complimentary breakfast at Candlewood Suites, but I vastly prefer their cupboard options, of which there are many.The facilities are plentiful and well-maintained, and this coupled with the lovely staff and clean and spacious room is why I continually seek out Candlewood over all other lodgings.Thank you all for your hard work, especially during the holidays, and for being so kind to my pup and I as we were stranded by the winter storm.

Cassie Griffin: I had to go down to the front desk several times to get items that should have been in my room including toilet paper and linens for the pullout bed. I was not able to get an extra pillow for my husband because "guests steal those and we do not have any extra at this time". The breakfast was not edible. The gravy was watery and had no flavor. The eggs were sitting in water and the sausage was basically cardboard. Save your money and stay somewhere else because this location is poorly managed apparently.

Google User: The toilet and showers are old and stained. The staff steals and will come in your room without permission.The internet doesnt work and they REFUSE to call someone to fix it. The entire second floor, the ethernet ports do not work. The wifi doesnt stay connected.The snacks in the pantry are disgustingly over priced. $3 for a $1.50 bag of chips.Housekeeping comes once a week and I'm not talking about the deepclean. Rheva Myhre: It was a perfect, easy stop on our drive from Washington State to Tennessee. Great location, good price, clean and comfy bed, nice breakfast. The biggest downside was that when we arrived at 11pm, exhausted from 13 hours of driving, the front desk people were pretty scattered and low key bothering each other and it took almost 20 minutes to get checked in. They were nice enough, just not very efficient. Anyway, the room and bed were very comfortable and clean. We had a great sleep.We were very pleasantly surprised about the breakfast. None of the other motels we stayed in on this trip even offered breakfast, and this one had sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches, which we both love. The fruit and granola bars rounded it out nicely.I would absolutely stay here again (I’ll just factor in some extra time for the front desk to be confused about how to charge the deposit).
Wildcat 6319: Not bad…budget friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Reserved Veterans spot right at the door. Several food options close by. Only negatives: tiny bathroom and no elevator so two flights of stairs. Stairwell smelled smoky on the first floor, then had a strong “cover up the smoke smell with air-freshener” odor. But I’d be willing to stay here again.

Theodore Jackson: A clean room, comfortable bed, good TV & a good breakfast make this place a winner. Sure, it may be a little old, but it was a great price especially for a last minute booking in the KC area where so many hotels are overpriced. I'm not sure what so many of the negative reviewers expect for a hotel in this price range. Honestly, I've paid more for much worse. It's a Super 8, not a downtown luxury hotel that will pamper you. No elevator so keep that in mind if mobility issues are a concern.

Travis R: Honestly kinda gross. The pros are that the towels are nice and the front office lady and her dog were too. Walking into my room i had to throw an old orange peal off the floor away, room is visibly worn, try to take a shower and as a fit male could barely pull the plunger up to engage showerhead fully. Hot/Cold water just as difficult to turn while the water also conveniently sprays out soaking the bathroom floor. Went to go to bed and left side of mattress is shot. This could all be yours for $120, or not

C: This is the absolutely best cleanest friendliness hotel I've ever stayed in!!! Extremely clean super helpful staff. The staff is amazing they had some great recommendation on things to do close by they go above and beyond for their guest they make you feel like family. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody and know they would enjoy their stay!! I would definitely give this hotel 5 stars!!!

Sea Mac: The employees were terrific. The front desk was friendly. Kim listened to me and apologized when I checked out. In the morning during breakfast, I can't remember her name, but she was right there, ready to assist a guest if needed.The room, not so much. Checking in, there are no obvious queues to the customer that there are areas under construction...until you check in, walk past the front desk and then see the plastic, tape, and maybe some signage....maybe.As you walk to your room, at least in my case, you pass rooms with open doors and plastic haphazardly taped over the doorframe over the door. The stairways, unkempt, as the one I traversed had a toothpick on the steps for the four days I was there. The elevator, expect to spend a good portion of your stay in it, as it's the slowest elevator I've ever been in.So, my room, I will let the photos make the case. Signs of water damage on the ceiling, cracks in the walls, and really bad interior lighting. Unsealed doorframes, bad stucco, and lack of detail when cleaning were obvious.The basketball court. Two nights, I'm awake at 1 a.m. listening to someone play basketball outside.The room just wasn't what I expected from a Marriott property.

Adam Whitt: Stayed here 4 nights for a work trip. My biggest issue with my stay is that this hotel is currently under what I would call a major renovation from either massive water damage or an extreme remodel project. Half the hotel is gutted down to the studs mainly in the middle portions and the elevators were not working. Personally, I think they should let consumers know that their hotel is under renovation before booking. My room was clean on the surface but if you looked closely it was not by any means squeaky clean - I had chewed gum on my walls, and it was pretty obvious that the rooms were surfaced cleaned in any high touch areas. However, I had a suite style room that was spacious and comfortable for the most part. My only other issue with this hotel is the location, it is backed up into a small section of woods and attracted some shady activity. I opened up my blinds at 9 AM one morning and there was someone breaking into cars right in plain sight in broad daylight. They do have security on staff which I reported to immediately after seeing this. All staff I encountered were very friendly.
