Best Motel Independence Near Me

S. Gabriel: It appears this motel and the surrounding few motels are running a fraud ring. My family was scammed at this America's Best Value Inn/ Days Inn, and based on the clearly sketchy set up, I'm sure we weren't the only guests this has happened to. Don't waste your money or time here. This was the worst service I have ever recieved by far, and shockingly expensive with all of the hidden fees. Upon our arrival in MO at 11:30PM, we were informed that our reserved room at Days Inn was given away without reason. The main staff member I delt with was Pikay, who seemed wholey unphased that he had given away our room until I frantically showed up next door at America's Best (a laughable name based on our experience) Value Inn, which, as it turns out, is run by the same staff. Both hotels must have the same owners, and there are a couple of other motel's in the immediate vicinity, which I assume are also owned by these fraudsters. We were charged more for this new room, which we took out of desperation after 12 hours of driving and the very late hour. This felt suspucious, but I was too tired to bother fighting it (a fact I am sure the shady staff was banking on). Neither place was clean or well maintained. Pikay proceeded to mischarge us for our stay, which we only found out because we recieved a call the next morning letting us know we now owed more. Had I known what a clearly fraudulent endeavor this would be, and how much extra I would spend, I wouldn't have given this place a second glance before moving right along to the next motel. The price after all was said and done was unreasonable, and we could have stayed somewhere much nicer for a lower monitary and emotional cost. I suggest you do just that so you can get a good night's rest with out being defrauded by this abysmal motel staff. To be clear, I have stayed at quite a few other locations of both motel chains, and have had perfectly fine experiences, but this cluster of motels in MO should not be trusted.

Shannon Cunningham: My husband is staying here so I called after he got two nights to get a weekly rate after my husband said the guy told him $450 the guy told me $550 then a $150 deposit. Then my husbands sister went up there they said $500 for her all the same 1 bed queen rooms. Very rude and will be calling the BBB on them. Then told me next week the end of April into may they have lots of business so can charge different prices. Don’t go here. To top it off room is dirty.

Chris Rohloff: Checked in and immediately checked right back out. The room felt like a prison, the sink faucet was no longer even attached to the basin anymore, location didn’t feel safe, and the bed linens had a lot of stains on them. The only good thing I can say is that the lady working the front desk tonight was pleasant. America’s Best Slummin’.

Donika Martinez: Did not stay at this hotel. Single ladies, be careful and be mindful of your surroundings. Booked a room here and two guys who were in the lobby just hanging out. They watched every move I made. They even peaked through the window to see what car I was driving. They knew my room number because Vip Patel, the front desk clerk, said it loud enough. Sketchy hotel, do not stay here. I didn’t get a refund for not staying there because Vip Patel knew nothing of the incident of course.

Sheila: My family stayed in separate rooms every one of our rooms had roaches!! One fell off the wall and landed on my pillow when I went to restroom! Also there was a old dirty nasty bloody tampon underneath the bed so the room obviously hasn't been cleaned. The sheets were dirty it stunk and the staff was rude his new employee didn't add my family to the room like I asked three times and kicked us out knowingly and admitted his employee was new after the fact asked us to not come back like we was going to cuz that's absolutely not ever in life again going to happen. If there was a lower score I give it a 0 absolutely worse experience ever!

Wildcat 6319: Not bad…budget friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Reserved Veterans spot right at the door. Several food options close by. Only negatives: tiny bathroom and no elevator so two flights of stairs. Stairwell smelled smoky on the first floor, then had a strong “cover up the smoke smell with air-freshener” odor. But I’d be willing to stay here again.

Theodore Jackson: A clean room, comfortable bed, good TV & a good breakfast make this place a winner. Sure, it may be a little old, but it was a great price especially for a last minute booking in the KC area where so many hotels are overpriced. I'm not sure what so many of the negative reviewers expect for a hotel in this price range. Honestly, I've paid more for much worse. It's a Super 8, not a downtown luxury hotel that will pamper you. No elevator so keep that in mind if mobility issues are a concern.

Travis R: Honestly kinda gross. The pros are that the towels are nice and the front office lady and her dog were too. Walking into my room i had to throw an old orange peal off the floor away, room is visibly worn, try to take a shower and as a fit male could barely pull the plunger up to engage showerhead fully. They found a room for us, but let me list everything that was wrong that we noticed in this hotel which was why we got a refund and ran for the hills:Lobby:- musty smelling- only one person at desk- maid came in and ignored front desk worker when asked for list of ready rooms and went out the door for a smoke- hand written note on door to breakfast area saying breakfast not available until further notice per management-1 hour to wait in line then have them say they didn't have our booked room for us before they "found" a clean oneRoom(only in it five minutes):- door had previously been forced open and required full body shove to close.- sheets and blankets were stained- holes in the bathroom wall- towels were dirty- smelled like cigarette smoke (nonsmoking room)- floor was grimeyOn top of all this there were a couple people hanging around the front the entire time looking at everyone in the lobby and peering into cars.This place is filthy, and definitely not somewhere you would feel safe, comfortable or relaxed. Michael Wiggins: This was by far the worst experience staying at a hotel/motel. When I checked in, they gave me a room that someone was already in, I'm sure the lady trying to sleep was just as surprised as I was when I opened her door. When I informed the people at the front desk they did not apologize they just handed me another room key and said the housekeeping would be finished cleaning it in 5 minutes, 45 minutes later I had yet to see a single person go in the room to clean it. Once again I returned to the front desk and they gave me a third room. At least it didn't have cleaning carts or someone sleeping inside it but it was absolutely terrible, tv did not work, water pressure was terrible and half the lights did not work. I would not recommend this place to anyone. One of my friends was staying there as well and she had pretty much the same experience checking in as I did and she said she would never stay there again as well.Rooms: Filthy and rundown

Also, they change prices on you depending on the demand for the rooms. So, the price could go up or down depending on what is going on in the city.

If you’re there just to sleep then it’s fine.

The tv was super small… room was very cold.. the bed frame was very dirty.. the lobby was gross the dry wall was very not good the stairs going to my room was very gross… a nasty sock on the fire hydrogen… door going outside glass was not clean trash outside was overflowing! Last but not least the lobby had 4 little space heaters going looked very unorganized. Also almost forgot the little fish pond they had was super gross trash all over swisher rolls and just not good.!

Tom: The hotel it's self is very nice. The first night we stayed, I'm pretty sure someone tried to break into our car because the back hatch alarm was going off when we left the next morning. The elevator sounded like a death trap. But other than that, it was a nice stay. I do have an issue with the bathroom doors. I'm not sure who thought a sliding door would be nice, but it made our stay very uncomfortable.

Cheryl Kurtz: We immediately noticed after checking in that there was only a trickle of water from the bathtub faucet when we tried to draw a bath. The water also never got warm. There was slightly more water from the showerhead, but very weak water pressure and again the water never got warm- only cool or lukewarm at best. We notified the front desk person immediately, and were told the issue would be addressed and we would be notified of a resolution. When we returned to the hotel for our next night’s stay the next evening, the issue was unresolved. We again informed the front desk clerk, also showing the clerk a video of the issue at this point. The clerk again assured us the issue would be addressed and that we would be notified of a resolution. Neither happened. We spent our entire 3 night stay without the ability to take an adequate or warm bath or shower ( a very basic expectation when paying to stay in a hotel.) We notified the clerk again when we checked out and requested to be informed what compensation would be offered to us. I contacted the manager on the following day. He informed me that he checked the room, and the water pressure was fine in the shower and with hot water, which was a blatant lie. I requested to be credited for 1 night of our 3 night stay, which I feel would have been a fair resolution. The manager refused, stating that all he could offer me was a 10% discount. There was absolutely not even a hint of an apology, and he seemed very unconcerned when I informed him I would be contacting the corporate office for Best Western and that we would not be returning to this hotel, despite our frequent visits to family in this area. Unbelievable! Don’t book a stay at this hotel. There are plenty of others in the area where I’m sure you can at least take a warm shower!

Got my room keys and then checked my balance on my card they had actually charged me 430.06. I had to wait till the following day to speak with management. I told management that I would be checking out and at that point the owner told me. I was not getting my money back for the night I was not staying and he was also keeping my money for incidentals. So he stole $430 from me. For a 1 night stay!!! NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!! THEY WILL STEAL MY MONEY THEY WILL STEAL YOURS!!

Erika Winters: I’ve stayed here twice now. Each time was for around a week long. The front desk staff are always super friendly, room service ladies are amazing at what they do and so nice as well. The pool has never been busy when I visit so it’s really nice being able to come down and relax. Breakfast tastes delicious. The rooms look gorgeous and nicely updated. Overall this is a great place to stay!

Natasha Luna: This was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. I chose this hotel because of all of the good reviews on google. Extremely disappointed. We were placed in a room next to the ice machine, the laundry and the pool. There was so much noise. I could hear the ice machine loud and clear every time someone used it even after I put towels at the bottom of my door and had a Hatch sound machine playing white noise. People were screaming at the pool. Plus several times throughout the night there were random car alarms going off in the parking lot. I woke up at midnight to a vehicle parked with their headlights pointed right at my window and they were blasting loud music. Came out in the morning to someone parked 5 inches from my vehicle so I had to move it just to get my children loaded. The room was not clean at all. You'd think that when you have to pay extra for a pet friendly room that it would at least be clean. There was hair all over and dead bugs in the corner of the bathroom.The beds were comfortable but I barely slept at all with all the incessant noise. Some creeper approached my husband in the hallway and tried to pay him to give him a ride to "get him out of here."

A few things to note: The pool water appeared cloudy which can be an indication that the chlorine is not working effectively. The elevator sounded clunky and was a little nerve wracking. The bathroom door is a sliding door and does not lock, which leaves little privacy and may be problematic for some folks sharing a room. Would stay here again despite these things!Safety: Felt safe tucked away from the road behind a shopping center.
