The food had very good flavors. Super tasty. I might not get the pork ribs in the fajitas next time, but it was still awesome. Might replace it with Carnita meat next time. Mason Marks: If you haven't tried this place you're missing out!! Food comes out piping hot and fast!! These guys make Jimmy John's even look slow!! I order the same thing every time I go in there and the consistency is flawless along with my girlfriend A-Plus from her too! Don't let midnight rodeo fend you off from having an amazing meal they are completely secluded and it feels very welcoming in the restaurant! Everything is beyond reasonably priced for today's economy especially. The drinks are strong so therefore you can forget about your worries in one margarita! A+ All around for me!

I was tempted to leave a bad review Because they did not give us good service But I did notice think of the rest of the rest of the restaurant good service And I'm not sute how the service would have been for us If they had been given the right Information about our party My aunt was in charge of setting up the location And she told them we had a party of 15 So when we arrived they did have a backroom And tables set up for 15 people and a waitress waiting.Well there was over 40 of us So they were not staffed or prepared for a party of that size I so it took forever to get anything. But I believe that if they had been given the right information That they would have given great service One plus side that I can say Is that we did have a backroom And we were extremely loud I felt very comfortable They even have couches back there, So I would definitely recommend them for a party But I would definitely recommend Making sure that you know how many people will be in your party.Wheelchair accessibility: they are wheel chair accessible.

Kira: This is THE BEST Mexican food in all of Springfield hands down. My husband and I shared the Big Tijuana which I also recommend you do if you always have a bunch of food left over and don't do to-ggo boxes or leftovers. The atmosphere is excellent, the staff are all attentive and sweet, it's clean and the food is absolutely a 10/10. Even my picky 7 year old (who got a quesadilla) enjoyed their spicy salsa and chips while we waited.You are honestly missing out if you don't eat here.
Matt Manno: First time dining here. I loved the food, the burrito I got was huge and the grilled chicken is awesome 💯. Salsa is on point and probably one of the best servers I've had. She was efficient/quick, remembered every bit of the order and got everything right. Small things, super packed and sitting at the bar I had to avoid the servers walking by the whole time and the chips were super "sharp" and cut up my mouth a bit. Will be going again though for sure.

Hope for today Generation: I love Taco El Gordo, the times I have went they treated me like family. Everyone is so friendly, even the owner. The food is first class, so don’t judge the place from the outside. The meats they serve in the food is unlike anything I’ve tasted. It taste like they butchered and prepared the meats fresh that day. I’m addicted to this place and need to increase my budget so I can eat here everyday. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, it’s a well kept secret spot.

Donald Frailey: The brightly colored Mexican restaurant has the best enchilada style burritos I have ever had. They come out on two plates. DO NOT TOUCH THE TOP PLATE! It is incredibly hot. But it makes the food so worth it. I did have them add some jalapeños to increase the heat! This is some of the best Mexican food I have had in Springfield.On other trips I got their tacos they are really good. But recently I have landed on the magnificent enchilada burrito!The chips are kind of thick but the salsas are good. The hot version is truly spicy. I enjoy them most combined.

The background story is awesome to learn about, and they have the most nostalgic feel with little tiny juke boxes at each table.Second, I ordered their chicken quesadillas and omg the chicken was so flavorful, so tender and juicy, I could eat them until I'm blue in the face.Their salsa choices are all amazing from sweet to super hot, and the white queso tastes so fresh and homemade.Prices were great. Service was superb.

Eric Sells: Granted - I was a solo diner, so few waiters are going to eagerly serve me. Yet, the following was my experience:I seated myself at the patio. No one came by for ~3-5min. I went inside to ensure the staff knew of my presence. That forced a drink order and chips. 10min more and I got a menu. At minute 28, I passed on a food order and asked for the check.The margarita and chips were good. Average. Service bad enough I'll never know about the food.

Jay Roth: As Tina Turner sang, “Simply the Best,” so was this restaurant! In Sunday Lunch with Mom fashion, I ordered the Tacos de Pescado La Paz (fish tacos) and mom had the Vegetable Quesadilla. This restaurant understands that you eat first with your eyes and the plating was exceptional! Rarely, if ever, can I say that the food looks like the pictures on the menu, but all plates I saw at our and surrounding tables were exquisite.The taste matched the plating in that it was outrageously good! The swai fried fish was perfectly crispy and warm in my tacos!Our server was also probably the best server I’ve had in awhile. He complimented me on my pronunciation of “pescado la paz”, kept my drink filled, and was very warm and friendly. “Serving” seemed important to him! I appreciated it!
Sarah Kennedy: Great service and margaritas. I frequently go with my family and another family and we get great service and food, even as a large group. I order the veggie enchiladas usually and the guacamole is a great appetizer.

Ronda Patterson: Party of 5 went for Mother’s Day meal for the first time. We got the Chimichanga, their sauted veggies, which are awesome, chicken and spinach enchiladas, fajita nachos, and quesadillas. Will definitely want to go back!!!
D E: Service was excellent. Our server was cute, friendly and he wasalways checking up with us without being intrusive. Food is SO GOOD, very fresh. The restaurant is always clean and decorated cute for the holidays (cinco de Mayo) this time. We were celebrating a birthday, and did not feel rushed to leave, plenty of time to visit.

Shari Peterson: I hate to tell everyone about this jewel of a restaurant because it's the secret wonderful restaurant of my friends and I. We even have a favorite waiter and place to sit! The food is to die for, and enough to take home for another meal. We've never been disappointed in this wonderful place! More meat than other restaurants, gigantic portions!
Sheng Thao: My Family and I had the Fajitas for 2, shrimp tacos and elote/corn soup. They did give us chips and salsa to start off with, not pictured. Our Waiter was not attentive, he didn't ask us how the food was and we had to ask more than once if not twice for salsa, napkins and drinks refill. The food was decent, where you can find it anywhere. The best tasting item we had per my Husband's opinion, was the elote/corn soup. Note: No Menudo on the menu. Would we return again? Most likely not. But definitely try it for yourself, your experience may be different from ours.

Tammy M: I think the only thing I've ordered yet that was disappointing was the tamales. I grew up on a border town and from Arizona where tamales tend to be a good size. Other than that, I have enjoyed everything. I'm picky about salsa and thiers is very good. Good seating, good wait staff, and reasonable price for the portion size. I mainly order to go through the drive through which has never taken more than 10 minutes.

William Harrison: Stopped in for early dinner about 2:30 on a weekday. Seated quickly. Ordered quickly, very friendly. Big tables. Big boothes. Different levels. Comfortable and kind of fancy decorations plus a very clean atmosphere make it feel like 5 star. The service was attentive, not intrusive, timely, and overall a benchmark of what it should be. The wait from kitchen to table was as expected and normal. The food arrived sizzling and filled the air with authentic savory sensation.After eating at several similar restaurants, we both decided that the flavors here stand out as 5 star. We had tacos and tamales and enchiladas, and they did not hold back on the chips, sauces, and cheeses. It was great, satisfying, and we will be visiting regularly. GO!

Northside Youth: My husband and I eat here often, usually after church on a Sunday. We have tried several other Mexican restaurants around town and they just don't compare! El Maguey has the best food, prices, service and portions! Most generally we don't have much of a wait at all for our food. I would recommend to anyone! BTW..... my favorite dish is the Arroz Con Pollo! So yummy!

Janet Brown: We waited FORTY minutes for our drinks (3 waters and 1 margarita). The margarita was supposed to be frozen. It was not. We waited ANOTHER 45 minutes for our food to come. I ordered a chicken enchilada and beef burrito and received two enchiladas. Absolute slowest and subpar service (Server #9 on 5/05/23) I've ever seen. The ONLY positive was a super sweet hostess who seated us quickly and saw that we did get drinks once I voiced my concern about how long we had waited.
