Shannon: They need someone new in there. Ken ran the place down and it’s nothing compared to what it was before him. I’m also Native American and the guy wouldn’t help me out when I needed help because he didn’t like my mom

Big Whiskey's American Restaurant & Bar: what do users think?
Nathan LLL: The food and service at this restaurant were great. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was because of this :The tomato soup with gouda was not hot, and it did not melt the gouda cheese, making it chunky and luke warm.Second, it was the French fries. I just wasn't a fan.Lastly, the beer was cold, but it wasn't as cold as it should have been for being on draft.
mike kolthoff: Stopped by to eat here yesterday and rate this place a 3.5 overall. The hostess and waitress we had were very nice. Great attitudes, welcoming, and did everything they could to help. Started the night with an appetizer (beer cheese pretzels) and hey were absolutely grand! Crispy on the outside and light and fluffy in the middle. They were hot, salted just right and paired well with the beer cheese accompanying the pretzel sticks! I next tried a house beer that was pretty average. For my entree I ordered the ‘Granny Smith’s Turkey Gouda’. Honestly, the description of the sandwich read better than it tasted. With all the potential the sandwich had in its description, it missed the mark hard. I rate the sandwich a 3.2 out of 5. While it’s edible, it wasn’t very satisfying to my pallet, nor visually aesthetic. Additionally, I was it a fan of the fries either. However, I am not a fan of that style of fries made at any restaurant. I also ordered a potato soup. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad either. Would probably order the soup again. Lastly, the ‘Big Brownie Skillet’ was a huge disappointment! It was presented as a 10 out of 10 by my waitress. In hindsight, I am certain it was just an upsale tactic to get me to purchase more food. The brownie was extremely dry, while the vanilla ice cream hardly tasted like vanilla. All in all, the restaurant does present a good atmosphere that is welcoming and designed to allow for a good time if with a group of people. Sad to report the quality of food doesn’t match the quality of service the restaurant provides. Recommend if interested in trying new places. Do not recommend if hungry and looking for a satisfying meal.
Nicole Huebert: Great spot in Springfield! The curtains on the windows made it look like the lights weren't on at night. We almost went somewhere else, but upon opening door, we saw it was open. I am glad we stayed. Good food, great service, and good atmosphere. I would go again.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Danielle: Ok so let me just say this to get it out the way. The battlefield location is hands down better than the one on republic rd. The food just tastes better. Idk why but it really does. I’ve been back and forth between the two just to make sure I had a fair opinion. The lemon pepper is a salt seasoning. You can’t drown the wings in lemon pepper seasoning or it’s just not eatable. It was easily removable though so it was good after I wiped some seasoning off. The cook on the wings was perfect and our server was exceptional.
Chris York: Worst experience I have had in Springfield to date. Burger was dry the wings were cold and took over an hour to get our food. Not a single person at our table of four was happy with their meal. Will not return.Food: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 1/5 …More
Jeff Kohley: Had a really bad experience. The manager tried his best. The service was bad. They were out of items. Steak was undercooked. The real problem was the service. Hopefully this was a one off experience.Food: 3/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More

Loren G: Absolutely delicious, hands-down the best dinner we’ve had in town. Cashew chicken, salad & gnocchi were out of this world. Gorgeous space, great wine & draft beer selection and super friendly service, just the best!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Crispy Chicken, Wagyu Smash Burger …More
Hannah: The atmosphere and service were great, the cocktails and food were not. Specifically, the scallops. $20 for 2 tiny scallops and some pea purée. Also, the cashew chicken is doing too much. People like cashew chicken for what it is. The peanut butter jelly drink was undrinkable, as was the strawberry cocktail. They both reminded me of gasoline. The sweet corn was great, as was the gin and tonic and our server was wonderful but this place is not worth 100+ dollars for some average and even under average dishes and drinks.
Woodpecker Peckswood: came here for my Birthday dinner and it didn't disappoint. went for the market fish which was Cod with Morel mushrooms!! what a treat! our waitress Sarah was perfect and attentive! we enjoyed our evening and finished it off with sunset at the Vantage roof top bar.

Jennifer Pratt: A pretty and modern venue. Excellent bar and dining room service. Menu is unique and much of our food was delicious. The fries were a bit over seasoned for our tastes and the hushpuppy appetizer was a bit over browned but had excellent flavor. The blueberry ice cream and the citrus tart were exceptional.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Yaakov Cohen: Highly recommended to anyone in town. Visiting and staying at the Hotel Vandivort, our party arrived late into town and we're famished from a long day of meetings and travel.Checking in we were recommended to try out the restaurant inside the hotel. We weren't disappointed at all. The bar offered an extensive selection backed by a bartender with experience. The menu selection was thoughtful and seasonal. We opened w a beet tartare that had so much depth w pickled persimmon and crusted pistachio w a truffle cream.I ordered a wagu burger and duck was ordered by my co-worker.Food was delicious and perfectly prepared. What made the experience though was our waitress, Hunter. So friendly wo being overbearing she reminded me how important being real in the food industry is.It's managements responsibility to educate the staff in details of the dishes.Find a sincere person, educate and empower them and you have a powerful opportunity.
Jon Poulson: High end bar in a classy downtown hotel. Great service with excellent knowledge of their products. Worth a casual, business, or romantic drink or mealFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
David R: Nice ambiance but the food was expensive and they overcooked my wife’s eggs and when we mentioned it the waiter said sorry but didn’t offer to replace it and they still charge us for it. Didn’t want to say anything just left and won’t return. The old fashioned was good though. You need to train your wait staff better.
Marcia Johnson: This place is in my top 5 for Springfield. Top of the line, every time.
Rafailia Vogiatzis: I ordered a wonderful drink called something angora. And then i ordered the gnocchi small plate. It was amazing. Everything was great! Highly recommend!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Enerim Mpo: The Stroganoff the Nhoque plate wasnt tasty and was very different from the Original dish. The Strip Steak was just ok (It wasn't as good as it should have been for the price it was charged.)The cocktails looked really nice. But very small and the taste was very strange, mine tasted (strong) like a flower. The Shareables (appetizer) Crawfish Hushpupies was very Good...Anyway the atmosphere was nice, the service was good. However it was expensive and the taste was not good. We made the reservation before, but the person who seated us took us directly to a small table (it wasn't full) and I had to ask her, to move us to a sofa.
David Baker: Food: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5More
Lloyd Buchanan: Took eleven family members on December 28. We had four Vegans, two Pescatarians and five carnivores - a bit of a challenge for any restaurant. The Order delighted everyone in the group! Anthony Ponseigo had everything set up for our arrival and checked in multiple times. Christian has an amazing knowledge of the menu and provided exemplary service. The menu has many offerings with combinations that are not normally seen. Every single one is delicious and delivers new taste sensations. What a talented chef! Also, the bartender makes a great martini. This is fine dining with culinary imagination, not seen elsewhere in Springfield. I highly recommend The Order!
Pascual Lopez: This restaurant has some deliciousness hidden behind its small seating availability. Sitting down, I was not sure what all we would be getting ourselves into with eating in the hotel restaurant, but my goodness, they pump out some serious food. The selection they have for spirits are out of this world and are fairly priced. Some of their wine has some large overhead for pricing, but that is fine and understandable. The food and cocktails are worth the visit, and I suggest you try this place out if in town. They are hyper-local, which is always great to find a place that supports their community.
Ryan Clements: Our s'mores dessert was not up to par with what we've gotten in the past or with the price. Feel like they are becoming a 'hotel bar' rather than a standalone restaurant. Service was great!Food: 2/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More

wendy eno: Ate the Falafel Veggie wrap—it was pretty good. It needed some sauce or something to dip it in. I asked for a suggestion and the guy brought the balsamic reduction sauce. Wasn’t the right sauce for it, but I have hope for it. The Peter Piper Bloody Mary wasn’t very spicy—ask them to add some hot sauce or something as they rely on pepper and a peperoncini for spice—wasn’t effective. My opinion is it was too expensive for what you get. I was left wonting for more on both the drinks and the dinner. However the star of the show was the sweet potato brûlée. Effing awesome!
Jeffrey Lombard: The atmosphere was great and the drinks were good. The food was average. The waitress was nice, but either had to many tables or just kept forgetting about us.Food: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Carissa Harris: The foods good other than the fact they think andre the giant is eating their burgers.. seriously, my chicken sandwich is at least 6 inches tall!! We waited almost an hour to get our food..I know it's pride fest & busy but it's not like this event was not known about. Nobody would even communicate or apologize for the wait! Terrible service..Now that I have missed about an hour & a half of the event I came to see in the 1st place, I can say w/certainty I will not be back here.
Emily: The food is amazing 😋. But it took a long time to get our food when people showed up way after us and they got their meal before we even did.

Bella S: I had a civil burger. Bland and had a hair in it. Didn’t get an apology or an offer to get something else. The costumer service needs help. I was really nice about it but it’s still really gross to have a hair in your food and not get the service you expected.

Sean Flannery: I've been to this place many times over the years. The price of always been reasonable, Even after slimming down the menu after Covid. The after they are distinct selection of upscale bar food, but don't let the term "bar food" scare you. The prime rib soup is absolutely to die for, and can compete with any others in town! Burgers and fries are well portioned. Even when busy, this staff have always been incredibly accommodating and friendly.Parking: Free parking lot less than a block north off Olive Street, just north of the square. Street parking available on each street off the square.Tere's also nearby parking lot east, in front of Dublin's Pass. It's an MSU parking lot, but doesn't seem to be enforced on nights and weekends.Wheelchair accessibility: Two entrances both do not require steps. Going in or out via the patio gate near the square may be difficult in wheelchairs.
R C (Nordy Girl): Loved the Brussel Spouts and the crispy kale. And the fish sandwich took up the whole plate! Pescatarian Delight!Vegetarian options: I'm pescartarian but could still find something to eat if no meat was my choice
