Stacie O: The 2-person team that arrived did not actually inspect the issue (did not move the machine or take any panels off) and then told me that a major repair ($500) was necessary on a machine that was less than 2 years old. This repair was for one particular part, but we were going to have to also replace another part for $45+ because they "can't get to the 'broken' part without breaking a 2nd part as well." We were given the estimate and charged for the service call.We decided to get a 2nd opinion during which the single technician moved the appliance, opened up the machine, and extracted a sock, which ended up being the entire cause of the problem. The unit was fixed for $50 less than the service call charged by MidAmerica. An email sent to the company about the poor service has gone unanswered.
TJ Wright: If you're looking for a professional, responsible, and efficient repair. Look elsewhere! Very literally, not only did this company NOT fix the problem, they BROKE my machine, and as of today (2/16/23), they have YET to return to fix it. I strongly encourage you to copy/paste this company's name into the search bar and add "competitors" at the end of it.Their scheduling process has no accountability, and their technicians (at least the ones I've had) need to be more professional. You won't get an appointment on the same day or within a day, EVEN when THEY need to reschedule at no fault of your own. They can never confirm an actual "window" until the day before. But don't hold your breath; it'll go from 8-5 to 12-5. Not a big jump. (I've since found competitors who provide a 2hr window)Attempt 1 --The technician arrived early, did not attempt to contact me (the tenant), nor did they follow up with my landlord before leaving. When I reached my landlord, they informed me that they explained to the technician that I was coming from the office (8mins away) and would need time to get home. I pulled up and watched them drive away.Attempt 2 --The technician arrived later in the "window," which I would have been fine with had he not broken my machine. I could hear him roughly handling my machine two floors up from the basement. The machine was working before his "service" and had not been touched. When I came downstairs to check his work, he claimed it was an electrical issue, had me reset the breaker, and left, offering ZERO solutions for a problem he clearly created. His manager (who was on speaker phone) declared, "well if it's electrical, there's nothing you can do." Within a day, I had an electrician come out only to confirm that it was not an electrical issue (mainly because the outlet is less than a year old)Attempt 3 --I received a VM the day of my appointment (today), claiming that the technician called out sick and that I would need to reschedule. I called back, and they once again pushed me DAYS out. Apparently, there's only one technician in my area??You'd think they'd have concern (or at least a bit more respect for urgency) considering the likelihood that their technician, either because of negligence or ignorance, broke my machine. But that is not the case.Hear me, reader --- SAVE YOURSELF NOW!! I'm currently googling for competitors and kicking myself because I had heard from the grapevine that this is normal behavior...I didn't heed the warning. When I called to schedule a new tech to re-diagnose, I learned that the tech's notes stated that he did not think the soap dispenser was the issue but I had asked for it. This is not true. He suggested it and I agreed because he was the alleged expert.I asked for a supervisor to contact me. Instead, someone called to schedule a new appointment. While that may help solve the problem, I still don't know if I am going to be refunded some or all of the $350 I was charged for work that the tech was dishonest about. I am dissatisfied with the length of time it took and with the quality of work since the problem was not fixed. Now I am still without a functioning washing machine. I would like a refund.My response is that I have already been waiting nearly two weeks without laundry. I am unable to wait any longer for a working laundry machine. I have decided to purchase a new machine and just forfeit the amount paid to this company. The initial repair was poorly done. After installing a drain pump, the machine will now not soak, rinse, or spin. It only fills and drains.This company needs to get it right the first time! Kailey Sarkisian: Very unsatisfied with the overall experience wtih this organization. My fridge ice machine was not working and my manufacturer sourced Mid America to fix it. First, the tech that came out, Christopher D, reaked of cigarette smoke. He was friendly enough but he also had shoe covers on when he exited his car, defeating the purpose of wearing said shoe covers. Who knows how long he had them on from earlier in the day and he didn't remove them after leaving.The BIGGEST issue was that he replaced a part to fix the ice maker and told me to call if it wasn't producing ice in three to four hours. Cue to four hours later and no ice. I called Mid America and was told that I should actually wait 24 hours as the machine needs to get back up to temperature. The fix itself took 10ish minutes so I doubted temperature was a factor but figured I'd follow protocol. Twenty four hours later, still no ice. When I called Mid America to report the issue I spoke to a Rebecca and was told that the job was closed completed and that I would have to call the manufacturer and that if they came out again they would have to charge me. I explained the situation... that the ice machine was never actually fixed, and she proceded to tell me it didn't matter and that they had done their job. I told her I thought her job was to FIX the broken ice machiene with the part that their tech had ordered after an assessment and decision that was the part needed to be installed to fix it. Nope, Rebecca said they had done their part and there was nothing else they could do and everything moving foward was my responsibility.At the end of the day it was a huge waste of time with nothing to show for it.I called the manufacturer and they set me up wtih a different company to actually repair the issue. Why would she be asked to wait another week for new diagnosis??? You can function in your home with out other appliances but a refrigerator is a necessity. She has spent a lot eating out. Our technician, CJ was very professional, shoe booties, mask and respectful.A few months, and many washes, later the same problem came up. Luckily the part was still under warranty and CJ was able to come back and look at it again. He did some magic to make it work in that same appointment. Repairs didn’t work and Hawkins and Sons initially told me to call the manufacturer because it had nothing to do with them. Almost a full year later the freezer was replaced by the manufacturer. My first and last purchase from Hawkins.

Gregg Poryzees: Hawkins is one of two factory certified Subzero and Wolf appliance service reps in the Chesco / Delco area. I was a long-time customer of the other company until a few months ago when I called Hawkins for a second opinion. They saved me thousands. A shout-out to Matt who is hands-down the most knowledgeable service rep with whom I have had the privilege of working. I won't trust my Subzero, Wolf and Viking appliances to anyone else.
Patricia Marx: Be careful buying Speed Queen TR5003WN if you want a washing machine that saves water and uses fabric softener. You can do one or the other but not both. You can use any other dial and you can use fabric softener with them but not water saving. Like my machine, but think I would have bought another if I had known that.

William Coyle: I ordered a replacement heating element for my old Maytag dryer from here this week. The part was in earlier than promised (which was great) and the price was comparable for other sources of the same factory part. The parts department is clean and appears to be well organized.What really stuck out was the experienced fellow helping at the counter yesterday (Tuesday 3/22). I needed a few insulators to complete the element replacement, and initially they couldn’t find them. The dryer I was working on was made in 1982, so sometimes it’s hard to figure out what parts fit it. After leaving the store, I received a phone call stating they had found them. It’s a $2 part so it’s not as though it was a big money maker, but I needed it to do the job correctly. The folks here went out of their way after they made the initial sale to see that I had what I needed to properly complete the job. I really appreciated it. My dryer is working well now, and will hopefully give me and my family many more years of service.

With each purchase, it always works out that the price is fair, they go out of their way to deliver what you need in record time. In this case, they actually reworked the schedule to accommodate my family. In the years that I’ve dealt with Hawkins, every item that they have recommended has been the right choice. I certainly cannot be an expert on all things that I need to buy. These folks give you what you need, they get it to you asap, and theyback it up if it ever needs service. I trust them, and they respect each customer by giving them great honest, and fair service. They are simplyThe Best!

Kara Randy Kuhnel: Made an appointment with Ryan for a service call on our Samsung refrigerator (do not buy one, by the way). Temperature was at 52F. Tim was out the next morning while we were out of town (neighbor let him in), diagnosed the problem, quoted approximate total over the phone, had the parts with him, fixed and resolved in an hour, with a 90 day guarantee! Oh, and the total cost was exactly in line with the quote, paid over the phone and had a text receipt before we hung up. Dan Wills: Contacted Service Brothers for some service on a freezer in a refrigerator in my garage. Have used them before multiple times with no issues so felt comfortable using them again. Last Friday Tim the tech came out and looked the unit over. I was told it was a bad thermostat and they would need to replace. He picked up a new one and had it in within a hour or so it was replaced. For this I was charged almost $300, that I understood with the going costs for appliance repair. However, after the tech left, we noticed that the temp in the freezer was running in the 20s and not where we were told it should, at around 0 to 10 degrees. Thiswas after several hours, so I contacted the tech and was told he would return around mid afternoon on the following Monday. After waiting around the afternoon. I was then told he would be back after 5pm. He returned and told be he would return after getting a different thermostat, hopefully the next day to try to replace the one put in. On Tuesday, after not hearing anything from him I called and left a message, no reply. The next day I decided to contact the company and go a different route to see if I could get them to contact me and come out to change out the part. Was called back from another person but missed the call. Had to call back and leave a message. Since then I have called the company back a couple of times with no response yet. I am not happy with their lack of response. I was told that the part they put in may have been defective and bring out another, but no follow up yet. This was after I was told that they would be bringing out a different thermostat. At this point I have been waiting 4 days for the company's return visit with a different part to get the freezer down to an more acceptable temp to keep food frozen.Service:Freezer repair

Being immunocompromised, they met me outside with the machines when numbers were extremely high. Dustin Scott: I've been doing business with Mother's since the late 90's. They've helped me restore 6 BMW cylinder heads and 1 Honda cylinder head. In my experience, they usually go above and beyond to identify any defects and catch any problems before I put everything back together. These guys have never given me a reason to doubt them. Some of the cylinder heads they've resurfaced and rebuilt for me are still running smooth over 100,000 miles later.
