jessing777: I ordered takeout about an hour ago. The phone was busy so I went in and ordered in person. I sat at the bar and had a beer while waiting on my order. They said it would take 15 to 20 minutes. I waited 40, no problem they were busy. I am staying at hotel across the street got to my room. The food was cold and old like it had been sitting there for quite a while. There was hardly any chicken whatsoever in the enchiladas. It’s was gross. I travel a lot. The quality of restaurants have just in general gone down. I will never return. Don’t waste your money especially on take out.
Barb Beezley: The food is the closest thing to being in Cozumel we've found in this area! Fresh, hot, amazing flavors! The service is perfect. The beans are yummy! Everything we've tried, so far, has been just delicious! The music, the decor, Everything! This place is so fun to go to! The warm salsa with chips, as well as the regular, is worth the trip! It's like going on vacation, even if you only have an hour!!

Ellen Gray: Update: great food and great service, too bad they are closing.It was just an ok experience. We got chicken fajitas to share, I can't eat green peppers and asked for none but wanted more onions. Asked for onions to be cooked well done. The order came out and there was a good amount of chicken but not double the onions and most of the ones we got were burnt black. We also got an order of ground beef chili rellano. When we got home with that order it was chicken rellano which the person that ordered can't eat chicken. Chips were hot and fresh as was the sauce.

Adam Russell: Quality of food has gone way down. Service was good. I went on Friday 11/11 for lunch, ordered a chicken and beef enchilada with rice. The chicken enchilada was not warm at all and it was hard inside. The rice was not fresh, with in 30 minutes of eating I was sick to my stomach and needed bathroom asap. I will not be back. I use to go here all the time.

Emily Matney: We had the Baja and a taco salad. Both were spectacular. What stood out the most for my fiance and me was our server, Kevin. Kevin made sure our drinks were filled, he was so incredibly helpful with suggestions and recommendations, and just all around super hospitable and accommodating. We would come back just because of his amazing attitude alone. The food, the atmosphere, the service, we will definitely be back.

Tammy M: I think the only thing I've ordered yet that was disappointing was the tamales. I grew up on a border town and from Arizona where tamales tend to be a good size. Other than that, I have enjoyed everything. I'm picky about salsa and thiers is very good. Good seating, good wait staff, and reasonable price for the portion size. I mainly order to go through the drive through which has never taken more than 10 minutes.

Donald Frailey: The brightly colored Mexican restaurant has the best enchilada style burritos I have ever had. They come out on two plates. DO NOT TOUCH THE TOP PLATE! It is incredibly hot. But it makes the food so worth it. I did have them add some jalapeños to increase the heat! This is some of the best Mexican food I have had in Springfield.On other trips I got their tacos they are really good. But recently I have landed on the magnificent enchilada burrito!The chips are kind of thick but the salsas are good. The hot version is truly spicy. I enjoy them most combined.

The background story is awesome to learn about, and they have the most nostalgic feel with little tiny juke boxes at each table.Second, I ordered their chicken quesadillas and omg the chicken was so flavorful, so tender and juicy, I could eat them until I'm blue in the face.Their salsa choices are all amazing from sweet to super hot, and the white queso tastes so fresh and homemade.Prices were great. Service was superb.

William Harrison: Stopped in for early dinner about 2:30 on a weekday. Seated quickly. Ordered quickly, very friendly. Big tables. Big boothes. Different levels. Comfortable and kind of fancy decorations plus a very clean atmosphere make it feel like 5 star. The service was attentive, not intrusive, timely, and overall a benchmark of what it should be. The wait from kitchen to table was as expected and normal. The food arrived sizzling and filled the air with authentic savory sensation.After eating at several similar restaurants, we both decided that the flavors here stand out as 5 star. We had tacos and tamales and enchiladas, and they did not hold back on the chips, sauces, and cheeses. It was great, satisfying, and we will be visiting regularly. GO!

Northside Youth: My husband and I eat here often, usually after church on a Sunday. We have tried several other Mexican restaurants around town and they just don't compare! El Maguey has the best food, prices, service and portions! Most generally we don't have much of a wait at all for our food. I would recommend to anyone! BTW..... my favorite dish is the Arroz Con Pollo! So yummy!

The ONLY positive was a super sweet hostess who seated us quickly and saw that we did get drinks once I voiced my concern about how long we had waited.

Justin Murphy: A few coworkers and I were looking for a good spot to eat lunch and settled on El Puente. We were seated very quickly and the service was pretty good. All of our dishes were tasty and up to par, and the vibes were exactly as expected for a Mexican restaurant. It wasn’t anything really amazing or out of the ordinary, but definitely a solid spot. I would come here again, for sure.

Tom T.: Margaritas were decent but small. T-bone steak was very thin and way over cooked, however the shrimp was cooked perfectly. Chimichanga was tiny compared to other restaurants in the SGF area. Guacamole was more crushed avocado as it was bland with no seasoning or diced vegetables. The server was very nice but was a "ghost" after serving our food. I expected more from this establishment being on Republic Rd. With the quantity of Mexican style restaurants in the area, this one was very dismal.

Brandon Lauthern: I hate having to change my review, but tonight was an opinion-changing experience. I ordered the El Puente Fajitas. Everyone else's food came out fairly quickly, as did my beans, rice, and guacamole plate. Everyone else was nearly finished with their meal before my fajita meat even got to the table. By then, my beans and rice were cold and Everyone just sat and waited for me to finish. I ordered corn tortillas, and the waiter brought flour tortillas. That wasn't the worst of it though. The El Puente Fajitas comes with shrimp, chicken, pork, and beef. As I hurriedly ate my meal, I realized that the pork was not only rubbery but . . . It had bones in it. When I brought this to the attention of our waiter, he simply stated that "those were ribs" and that's "how the pork comes". In a fajita!?! Yeah, I probably won't be back.If you eat here, chew your food thoroughly, folks.

I went inside to ensure the staff knew of my presence. That forced a drink order and chips. 10min more and I got a menu. At minute 28, I passed on a food order and asked for the check.The margarita and chips were good. Average. Service bad enough I'll never know about the food.

Jay Roth: As Tina Turner sang, “Simply the Best,” so was this restaurant! In Sunday Lunch with Mom fashion, I ordered the Tacos de Pescado La Paz (fish tacos) and mom had the Vegetable Quesadilla. This restaurant understands that you eat first with your eyes and the plating was exceptional! Rarely, if ever, can I say that the food looks like the pictures on the menu, but all plates I saw at our and surrounding tables were exquisite.The taste matched the plating in that it was outrageously good! The swai fried fish was perfectly crispy and warm in my tacos!Our server was also probably the best server I’ve had in awhile. He complimented me on my pronunciation of “pescado la paz”, kept my drink filled, and was very warm and friendly. “Serving” seemed important to him! I appreciated it!

D E: Service was excellent. Our server was cute, friendly and he wasalways checking up with us without being intrusive. Food is SO GOOD, very fresh. The restaurant is always clean and decorated cute for the holidays (cinco de Mayo) this time. We were celebrating a birthday, and did not feel rushed to leave, plenty of time to visit.

Shari Peterson: I hate to tell everyone about this jewel of a restaurant because it's the secret wonderful restaurant of my friends and I. We even have a favorite waiter and place to sit! The food is to die for, and enough to take home for another meal. We've never been disappointed in this wonderful place! More meat than other restaurants, gigantic portions!
Sheng Thao: My Family and I had the Fajitas for 2, shrimp tacos and elote/corn soup. They did give us chips and salsa to start off with, not pictured. Our Waiter was not attentive, he didn't ask us how the food was and we had to ask more than once if not twice for salsa, napkins and drinks refill. The food was decent, where you can find it anywhere. The best tasting item we had per my Husband's opinion, was the elote/corn soup. Note: No Menudo on the menu. Would we return again? Most likely not. But definitely try it for yourself, your experience may be different from ours.

Jolanna Davis: I always love the food here, it’s one of my favorite restaurants in Springfield! Today I went here to pick up a to go on my break, and asked if the seasonal spritzers were sugar free. The lady at the register said no, but she could do a sugar free vanilla coffee. I declined, but she then surprised me with a virgin mojito with Splenda! It was so delicious! Bethany Price: I loved this place when it was a food truck but I feel like their quality has diminished a lot since they have been inside the VIB.The pineapple chicken fried rice used to be so incredible but now it has tiny pineapple tidbits that are hard to taste or see, the chicken is dry, it is heavily salted and even though they offer different levels of heat they rarely remember to add it when I request it. Also, the price doesn't match up with their menu.I don't know. I miss the old crew, the old truck and the consistency they used to have.

We had the Drunken noodles and Garlic noodles (a special) and were both very happy with the food. We had the large portion, but I think the single portion will be enough for next time. We got to sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy our meal. The do have seating inside the hotel also.
Eric Morris: I like the food, but charging several dollars more than the menu (both online and behind the counter) says is NOT an ethical business practice. If you can figure out how to update your cash register with your new prices, you can figure out how to update the price board.This is basic business law. You offered food a certain price, and in ordering the customer accepted your offer. Then, you changed the terms of the offer by adjusting the base price upward (by over 20%). The menu makes it clear that the the BASE price charged did not match the offer made by the menu.The cashier was unable to explain the difference, but this is a management problem, not a cashier problem.

Jay helper: I requested a booth for me, my wife, and three small children. The hostess refused to give us a booth. She said something about not being allowed to do that for five people. Our children are 4 and under and it’s much easier to help them and make sure they stay seated in a booth.I find it hard to believe it’s against company policy to fit two adults and small children in a booth. And if it is, that’s absurd.I decided to leave and go somewhere we were allowed to sit in a booth.
This Guy: I remember when MV was one of the cheapest and best deals in town. No longer. Now it feels somehow reversed. It's still one of my favorite places to go, but the inflated prices make it less and less feasible.And don't even get me started on the booth backs at the Campbell location. Since the renovation a few years back, the booth backs literally bounce on your back when someone sits in the booth seat behind you.For these two reasons, MV, though still one of my favorite places, it's just not as good as it used to be.

I understand trying to keep up with inflation but they have literally doubled the price of everything on their menu. When it cost 65 dollars before tipping the waiter for a family of 5 to eat 2 baskets of 3 tacos and 3 kids meals with a queso appetizer then I believe I'll just go eat a steak somewhere instead.
Molli Shearin: Mexican Villa has been my favorite place to eat since I was practically a baby. I have a lot of wonderful memories going here throughout my childhood/young adulthood with family that's no longer around. I still love the food, but can't stomach the new price of the sancho enchilada style. $15?! Sad to say I haven't been here for over a year and probably won't be going back. $30 ($40+ after tax and tip) just isn't worth it for something you don't even get leftovers with. 😥

Donald Frailey: The brightly colored Mexican restaurant has the best enchilada sauce style burritos I have ever had. They come out on two plates. DO NOT TOUCH THE TOP PLATE! It is incredibly hot. But it makes the food so worth it. I did have them add some jalapeños to increase the heat! The tamales also have the enchilada sauce and come out on the supper hot top plates. They are very moist and flavorful. This is some of the best Mexican food I have had in Springfield.The tacos were great. The burrito is really my favorite, but I was hungry today.The chips are kind of thick but the salsas are good. The hot version is truly spicy. I enjoy them most combined.The portions are big and the prices are reasonable! This is a winner
