Ryan and Kelle Sherpy: I should have looked at the Google reviews before I booked this through my AmericanAirlines app. I got charged $360 for a 36 hour rental of a Nissan Sentra that I drove less than 50 miles. When I called the rental car company after I dropped my car off very early in the morning and received my bill via email, I got to speak with a very rude employee who explained the charges to me and basically said that they were out of her hands and I should be grateful that they were able to serve me at all. I’m kind of flabbergasted at the experience, the charges, and the way I was treated. By booking through the AA app, I thought I was going to get a much better quality experience. I only booked them because National was sold out. Payless had an opportunity to steal a new loyal customer and frequent traveler from a competitor and instead gouged me for the one rental they got from me. I will never use them again and am honestly still in shock from the whole experience.
Jazmine Force: Do not use this company. Pay the extra $20 for another company it will save you in the long run. I was told by an employee I was required to have insurance. After reviewing the contract when I got home I saw I could decline. I called, left voicemails, put in tickets, and emailed stating my situation and to take off the insurance. I was being reasonable stating I should have read it closer while I was there and will pay the first day. However, on my vacation, I am trying to reach put to someone to remove this and nothing. When I return the car, I am told that’s not the verbiage they use. When in fact, I specifically asked if I was required to add insurance because I know my car insurance covers rentals and was told yes. His lie cost me $125. They refused to own up to and fix their mistake. Use another company.
Jason Porter: I was charged $350 extra for a "loss damage waiver" on a car booked through Defense Travel. This is extremely unusual and something I would never look for. Usually I am verbally asked if I want to add coverage and will always decline. The government self-insures vehicles and has contracts with these companies for fixed rates. Even in the many times I have rented a car with Avis/Payless, I have never had this happen because it simply is not necessary. Customer service stonewalled me, and the manager (Loren Davidson) sent back an invoice with the charge in tiny fine print saying that I initialed it, so he won't remove the charge. They tacked this on after two days of massive winter weather that caused my flights to be delayed for 12 hours, and knowing it was a government rental. I can only assume that the Avis employee figured I wouldn't scrutinize the invoice. She was correct, I guess. Absolutely the most deceitful experience I have had with a rental car company and I will never book through Avis again after dealing with this.
Brent Black: Yikes, I would highly recommend to steer clear of this place. Wish I would've researched their reviews prior to completing a priceline deal.

Mark Billingsley: Charged me for refueling vehicle after I filled it up myself. No one ever inspected the car with me before or after. I had to fill out my own form showing gas and mileage. Lady had me sign off on no damage to the vehicle before I drove off but never came out to the vehicle with me. Do not do business with this company!
Ryan Van Orden: Was quoted $430 and told the insurance was $50. Got home saw $1100 charge. Said the insurance was per day and there is nothing they can do about it. Maybe be a bit more clear with your contract. I should have read more so I am partially to blame. Swindlers
Ian Lindop: Booked a rental through Orbitz for 3 days for $176, after my trip I was charged $277 more from Payless. I've been contacting Orbitz and Payless for nearly a month and still no refund. Every time I call or, email, I receive a response that says it should process in 3-5 business days. Still nothing, and, to make matters worse they are refunding the $176 not the $277. I feel seriously cheated by this company, but I haven't the energy or time to keep fighting them. After 2 hours on hold with Orbitz, they just said that its the rental company that overcharged and has to process the refund, not Orbitz. If I had one free time in a time machine I would come back 2 months ago and stop myself from booking them.
Roy Bethel: The service that I received from both the Springfield, Missouri Payless car rental office and the corporate office is so poor I do not see how they stay in business. A one star rating is more than they deserve .On April 1, 2021 I rented a car through the Payless web site. When I arrived at the Springfield, MO counter they ask for my credit card for which they could charge any incidentals. Without asking me they charged me for the car a second time. They only told me this when they handed me the rental papers. They said my payments from the corporate office had not come thru to their system and I would have to contact the corporate office to get my money refunded. That’s when they told me they were a franchise and it was my responsibility, not theirs to contact corporate. Another counter lady heard the conversation and called corporate and she was assured they would refund my money when I returned the car. This did not happen. In the weeks to come In the process of trying to get my money refunded the Springfield office told me I must get resolution from the corporate office and the corporate office said I had to contact the Springfield office. After many calls I reached the Springfield office manager, he refused to do anything to help, told me it was my problem. When I asked to speak to his supervisor he said that was the local owner and their policy was that no one could contact the owner and all issues had to go to him. When I told him I wanted to complain about him, he said I could send the issues to him and he would review but would not send to his supervisor. After many phone calls to the corporate office I was told they would put in a claim for me.. I asked to talk to a supervisor and I was told they did not have one and refused to give me any phone numbers. I asked for a phone number to the claims department and that was also refused. Every time I called I got a different person and a different story. On June 9th I finally got my refund. Is this the quality of service you would expect from a national corporation or the type of service that you would rate as acceptable??

They like to charge you for services that you didn't agree to and then threaten to ruin your credit because their salesman lied. Refused to refund. Worst place ever. No wonder no one was in line to get a car from them. I am editing my rating because after speaking to the main company my issue was resolved but I don't recommend using the location at the airport where the rude manager Loren operates.
Jessica Lawhon: We reserved a car almost 2 weeks in advance and they didnt have it available when we go to pick it up. Then they told us they would upgrade us for free and charged us 20 more for the free upgrade. Since we were leaving first thing in the morning we had no choice but to deal with it. Then we find out they charge 30 for a toll convenience fee no matter the price. We maybe have 15 or less in toll charges. They told my husband at the counter he could call and pay the toll place before we get the bill to avoid the fee. Called them the next day to find out that was a lie.

Larry Bateman: I am writing this on the service department at Reliable. I have purchased two cars from them over the past 8 years, and I bought the maintenance packages for them. I have to drive 90 miles to get my car serviced so I always book an appointment. The problem his even with an appointment I still wait two hours for a oil change/tire rotation. Yesterday I got no explanation of why it was taking so long until I ask, and I was told they were waiting on oil. Seriously!! This was after waiting over an hour I went walking around to see my vehicle still sitting in the lot waiting. After asking as earlier mentioned, and being told it was being pulled in, now it was another hour before it was ready. I sent a txt back to the service department from the ones they had sent earlier to speak with the service manager, but of course received no txt or phone call. Along with no apology of the two hour time frame it took to get the car serviced upon checking out, just simply i need two signatures. Bad service!!

Katie Mcmahon: I wish I never bought from them. With in days Of buying my car I had to take it in and get work done on it. It had a axle broken and needed two new tires due to Safety hazards involving them. I then had a tire pressure since I let go out after they replaced my new tires. I am still having issues with that 8 months later and they can't do anything about it because the light won't Stay on. after that appointment today I leave and my check engine light is on and all of a sudden. I have a fuel pressure sensor that has gone out. I was not having any issues with the vehicle before I took it in every time I go to get. It worked on and leave there is a new light on my - and I have to go back and ask them to come check it out because they act like. They didn't see it. On top of all of that I bought a bunch of extra warranty which luckily has paid for a lot of the items to get fixed but they told. Me that it would cover a key replacement so we would. Only replace the key if we had 2 at the time. I then had to go back to the used car department. I ended up getting a key built to them but the whole situation has been extremely frustrating. I will never be going back to purchasing another car with them again And advise everybody To do the same.

Thrifty Car Rental - Springfield - Branson National Airport (SGF): what do users think?
Kay Lancaster: I rented a mid size car three weeks in advance to take my children on a spring break vacation also for my daughters 6th birthday. I waited 30 minutes in line and another 30 minutes for an available midsize car unless I wanted to upgrade to a mustang which I kindly declined and said I’ll have three children, two in car seats. I get called to the counter told my car is available. Sent me on my way. The guy didn’t place my rental agreement in the thrifty envelope, also didn’t relay the message that the vehicle I’m getting is a compact with NO ROOM IN THE BACKSEAT AND NO TRUNK SPACE FOR LUGGAGE. I called the customer service line to be told how unprofessional and unacceptable the counter is. The guy truly sounded like he was going to help me but said I have to get back in line so he can speak to them at the counter on my phone. I kindly said the wait is 30+minutes and I have reservations I will be late for, and I have to reschedule or figure out how to get my kids and luggage to our destination or I’ll be out 250 dollars as you can’t cancel your tickets at sight and sound theater. He reassured that when the car is returned I will be compensated and notes are made on the account. I call again on Wednesday and the lady puts me on hold and the line disconnects. I’m at the counter trying to explain the situation and instead of showing empathy and understanding that because of poor communication and making sure customers have their vehicle he instead was rude. Said nothing he can do about it. I let him know how this ruined my daughters bday plans and he said well that’s what they had available. (Thrifty counter was closed and Hertz had to handle the return. ). I’m now on hold again with customer service trying to get help and was told a supervisor was being contacted that she will be on the line but placing me on hold. I’m 31 minutes in and counting sitting on hold and not sure if thrifty is wanting to be scandalous and hoping I hang up or what. I took pictures of my rental I was given and can provide verification that I had 0 room in a COMPACT ecosport. Rather thn a midsize car. Steer clear and save your money and sanity by going to a rental place that cares about their customers.UPDATE: 45 minutes into hold and the call automatically disconnected. Back on the phone.

Lydia Trowbridge: The worst car rental experience ever. We rented a car to have reliable transportation to my sister's funeral. The gas gauge didn't work. We had a blow out and couldn't get help from Thrifty because it was unsafe for them to help us on the shoulder of the road. We had to change to the donut tire ourselves and then once off the road, they told us to drive almost 500 miles on the donut to our destination. They made a really bad day even worse.

It’s when a criminal steals from you!So no matter how long you stood in that long line, sweating, hurting from being on your feet so long!CHECK YOUR TICKET BEFORE YOU LEAVE THAT COUNTER! THEY WILL ADD STUFF WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE!

We headed immediately to Florida.1rst problem when we arrived at hotel was drivers door would not lock with remote and had to be manually locked unlocked. No biggie but the other problem is the cruise control does not operate properly and is dangerous. If you touch the resume button it engages and continues to increase speed until you manually shut it off. Dealt with this through the trip. Finally upon returning vehicle there was a bit of a checkout line and wanted to discuss mechanical defects. She said just drop it off and will call. They called and left message that dirty so “we’re throwing on 75 for cleaning” when I picked up the car he said just get trash out on return, it was. It needed to be vacuumed and wiped down which should be standard between rentals. Now try to contact them. Unavailable and not going all the way back.

khristina mccord: Pros: The Chrysler Pacifica we had for the week was nice. Drove well and fairly comfortable for our family of 6. The van was ready when we went to pick up.Cons: The van wasn’t cleaned well from previous renters. There was an opened package of crackers and water bottles left under the seat. Thrifty only allows one driver for duration of rental even if you are married and over the age of 25. If you need/want additional drivers they charge $13.50 per driver per day, so to add one person would have cost us over $100 more plus tax for 8 days. We went through a $1 toll, Thrifty charged an excessive $9.99 administrative fee for it, making the $1 toll $10.99! Seems like price gouging when there was no option to pay by cash or card at the toll site (every license plate is just scanned). After returning the van, we got home and realized we had left our garage door opener in the rental. We drove back to Thrifty that same evening about 8pm (they were open until 11pm) only to be told that there was no way to retrieve our opener that evening and we would need to come back the next day. We returned the next afternoon. Again met with rude employees that made it obvious that we asking something of them that they didn’t want to deal with. I don’t believe we will be using Thrifty for any future rental needs.

However beware that you will have to put down a $200.00 security deposit at the time you pick up the rental and pretty much they just put a hold of $200.00 on you Debit or Credit Card (I did not find this out until I got to the counter, just glad I had that extra money in the bank)
