Scott R: Great food and great service. If you like sushi, you need to give this place a try. We came at 7:30PM on a Friday night. It was busy, but we were able to sit down without a wait. Cocktails and beer were tasty as well.
Tessa Miles: This is maybe my favorite sushi restaurant in STL! The calamari is amazing, although a bit on the pricey side. I always get the American Idol roll. I have tried the bulgogi don, shrimp & veggie tempura, and a few others of their rolls. Everything is always delicious!
David Notheis: It's a really great place to get some really good sushi. Great atmosphere and service every time I've been here.
Derek Mabie: Ordered via Postmates. Worst value in quite sometime. Never review but seriously, if you’re not going in person move on to the next sushi restaurant. The value is atrocious.

David Hyde, IV: The best sushi place in the area! I've never had anything here that I wouldn't recommend. We often get the bulgogi roll and the Corona, both are excellent. The fish is always fresh and the rice is always perfectly cooked. They also have outstanding gyoza and other appetizers. And don't forget to ask for fresh wasabi!Vegetarian options: Like any sushi place, they have some decent vegetarian options. Avocado rolls, miso soup, salad, tempura vegetables, etc.Parking: The restaurant is located in a strip mall with a big parking lot. I've never had trouble finding a spot.

Kara S: Excellent sushi with nice large rolls! Fish tasted very fresh, and they have raw wasabi available!Like that there's a cucumber wrapped roll, not east to find this!Miso soup was not hot and roll prices were high, but very good spot!!
jesilynmc: I've been going here fairly frequently with friends and the sushi is amazing every time. Service can be hit or miss mainly because they, like everywhere else, are experiencing staffing issues. I completely understand and still highly recommend them. I've had an enjoyable experience every time and the food is worth every penny.
goofyguy340: Wonderful food. Elegantly presented sashimi, sushi, takoyaki, gyoza, udon, don buri (bowls of food), and other Japanese options. Many many types of sushi rolls. In total, there is not only more than standard Japanese fare, but it is also delicious, high quality, and beautifully presented. Many different sakes, mixed drinks, and Japanese beers along with international Gin, bourbon, tequila, rum options. They even have Japanese soda pop. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely decor with exquisite hand painted scenes. I had been there once before and couldn’t wait to go back for seconds to show my adult son who also, this day enjoyed his food immensely.
S Li: Environment is good. Service is great. Price is reasonable. Ordered two rolls from chef’s special. They are both awesome.

SUSHI KOI: what do users think?
Aja C: I recently order sushi from this restaurant for the 1st time. I tried this location because the reviews were all 4/5 stars and the reviews were spot on!!! The sushi was so delicious! The sushi I ordered was fresh and the flavors were robust, lastly the service was great. If your interested in dine-in, I suggest you make reservations because the space is small. Nevertheless, I will definitely return!

boi tran: This place is really nice. High quality fish for the price. Will definitely come back!
Brian Abbott: While passing through St. Louis, we wanted to eat some lighter food, so sushi sounded good. A few places showed up via a Google search and this place had great ratings and seemed to have a nice variety of food. We found parking nearby and walked over to the restaurant.Right when we entered there was a weird atmosphere. Immediately we were told to scan a QR code and use their website to order our food, which was really weird to me. It didn't even allow Google Pay or PayPal, requiring me to enter all of my credit card info. Plus you have to pay and give a tip BEFORE you even get your food, which is also weird for a sit down, especially when some of the plates are pretty expensive (~$18 for a sushi roll). The miso soup and appetizer (takoyaki) came pretty quickly and hot - tasted good as well... And the sushi came soon after and tasted pretty good. But everything came in and on to-go plastic containers and plates. And it seems like they don't even recycle them, as the single waiter/host just threw away our empty and used plates and containers in a nearby trashcan throughout the time we were there.Overall it seems like a good takeout spot, but the weird atmosphere and overuse of disposable cutlery and to-go containers makes me not want to recommend it as a sit-down place.
Sam Lang: Super wasteful. Dined in on a Tuesday night. Was told to order online with our phone. There were definitely people having technical problems with that system. I guess it keeps costs down if you don't have wait staff.Food was fine, the sushi wrapped in cucumber was not my favorite... But what really bothered me was the fact that literally everything came out in or on plastic disposable to-go containers that just got thrown right in the garbage when we finished. Not even an attempt to recycle anything.Honestly I couldn't recommend dining in here.
Eric Haake: Good clean ingredients that were quality. Server interaction is based on ordering with just scan menu. I dont love this but others may be attracted to it. Prices for what you get are reasonable.Food: 5/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Nine Breaker: I ordered 3 rolls (35$) of sushi for carryout. The lady made it in under 10mins! I was impressed and thanked her. Everything taste amazing and the service was great!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
J D: Very generously sized rolls. A little more limited in options than most but everything I tried was great. Pretty small and plain interior without much of an ambience though.Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More

Ichiban Japanese Sushi Bar: what do users think?
Kiarra B: I’ve visited this restaurant a lot over the last several years because I live nearby. I like supporting small businesses, but I’ve started going less as the prices keep raising. Recently I don’t find it worth the amount I pay.
Dave Roskin: The best sushi in St Louis by far.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
김의담 (여행좋아하는사람): 한국인이 운영하시는것같습니다가격은 비싸지만 미국인거감안하면 괜찮은 느낌?전반적으로 맛있는데 양은 좀 적어요
alexandra cho: Wonderful and fresh sushi! I have been here many times but this week was the first time I tried the Chirashi bowl. My mother’s friend (who has discriminate tastes) was eating this last week and it’s her favorite. It looked so good that my mother and I wanted to try it- and we were so glad we did! We love this place.
Micheal Arriola: The best sushi and unagi Don I have ever had. The ichigo and white Dragan rolls were beautifully presented and delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes White Dragon Roll, Ichigo Sushi with Almonds …More
Josie Sumner: The Yummy Roll is delicious!! Everything I tasted was fresh and had great flavors. Would definitely go back again.
Michelle Suh: I would say best sushi in St Louis. The sashimi’s always fresh and generous in portion. Ichiban also gets the tempura right (the right crispiness and thickness), which is rare around here. It’s one of our go-to places 👍🏾Recommended dishes Roll …More
prof. burton: Absolutely the best place I've eaten sushi in the St. Louis area. The sashimi was perfect cut, texture, and flavor - excellent 👌 And the service is phenomenal - kind, attentive, and hospitable. My favorite part though, was the ambience - authentic, smallish, warm, and cozy. I appreciate that the music was low and calm, so my party and I could enjoy our meal and time together. This place is truly a gem, and I will return. Thank you 🙏
Regan Copeland: We will definitely come again. All of the sushi was on par for similarly priced places in the area. Service was great. The atmosphere was so nice, especially the background music. I am so sick of loud dance club music at restaurants recently. Ichiban had calm music and it really made the meal enjoyable.
Allison Yu: Amazing sushi! High quality, fresh and in generous servings. The owners are kind and prompt. We've enjoyed everything ordered from here so far!Kid-friendliness: My friend brings his children here all the time. They're always willing to adapt their menu to their picking eating or charge for smaller portions to allow his children to try out new food.Parking: A large parking lot that is shared by many stores, never crowded and well lit
Mr. Emmanuel: Clean restaurant. Nice Korean owner. The food presentation was good. But not a real Japanese food. Their Tonkatu (豚カツ)was so thin. Nothing like what I am used to eat in Japan.
BalancingFamilyAndGoals: Biggest she see me ever
Shih-Ching Lin: Delicious sushi and unagi don! Highly recommended.
Eugenia Howe: Food was goodWasn't too impressed with the mochi ice cream
Prashanth Palaniswamy: Went here on a weekday night, the crowd was very less. The service and ambience were good. The food was delicious. Chicken Katsu, soup and the sushi (especially eel) were great. Shrimp starter was good too but we felt it was pricey for the quantity.
Jeremy Tapp: Amazing food. Good service. Highly recommend.
Mikael Unger: My wife and I went there Saturday night because friends recommended it. Well we never got to try it. Red flag right away seeing only one waitress literally running between tables. After waiting for little more than one hour without even getting the soup/salad we decided to cancel or order. At that time the there were still two tables ahead of us waiting for sushi rolls. Don't run a restaurant if you can staff properly.
Jenny Bao: This is my favorite sushi place in town. Great food, great service from a small mom n pop shop. Fresh sushi always. Hidden gem.
Udaykiran Vissa: When I first walked into Ichiban Sushi Bar, I was immediately greeted by a homely, humble atmosphere. Japanese fans lined the ceiling while a single waitress bustled around the small dining room of 15 tables. After deliberating over the lengthy maki menu (and I mean deliberating!) and deciding on the mango shrimp tempura, the crazy roll, the rainbow roll, and the salmon avocado roll, I learned that the young waitress taking my order was the sushi chef’s daughter, while the other older waitress was the chef’s wife. The traditional Japanese way of sushi preparation proved to be successful - the sushi I experienced was nothing short of the best sushi I had ever had. The thick slices of fish on the rainbow roll were mouthwateringly fresh, exposing hidden flavors as they melted in my mouth. The crab mixture was white and savory, rather than the dry stringy red “supermarket” style of crab found in other sushi restaurants like Wasabi. The rice was the perfect texture - not too hard but not gummy or soft. The mango shrimp tempura quickly became one of my favorite rolls, as the freshly fried shrimp blended perfectly with the sweet mango, which did not have the sour after-taste found in many frozen mango slices. The salmon avocado roll further proved the superiority of Ichiban’s fish. The thick slices of avocado seemed perfectly ripe as well, a rare occurrence at other sushi restaurants in Saint Louis (mainly Wasabi). I think the clear winner of the four rolls was the crazy roll. This roll was so stuffed that I had to take two bites to finish each piece. What’s even more crazy than the crazy roll itself? It had the ability to actually make me full from a sushi meal, which is something I never thought possible until Ichiban. So what did I learn from this experience? Your favorite sushi restaurant is making sushi wrong. This is how sushi is supposed to be: thick slices of fresh fish, fresh ingredients, and stuffed rolls.
Trevor Cabrera: The. Best.
Brian Burmeister: Delicious options for sushi and Japanese dishes. Nice people and good service.

Jacob Carlson: The previous owner sadly sold. Under him prices were lower and quantity of food for price was better. New owner won’t allow bento at dinner. I ordered shrimp tempura udon (again). I was served the wrong dish. I got udon noodles with grilled shrimp and veggies. My server must have written the wrong thing when i ordered. Tempura udon is fried shrimp and veggies with bowl of udon noodles in broth. I never had problem under previous ownership. Not worth what i was charged. Very dissatisfied
Alice Cai: Tokyo sushi is a hidden gem for sushi enthusiasts in St. Louis! This restaurant surpassed my expectations. Each piece was a work of arty, meticulously presented and bursting with fresh, high quality ingredients. Overall this place is a must, a sushi lovers paradise! Sushi is one of my absolute favorite foods to eat and I don't think I'll ever get tired of eating theirs. On top of that the shumai, gyoza and fried rice is very good! I also enjoyed trying their chicken katsu awhile back. The food is always fresh, has a lot of flavor and the staff is very kind!
Ty Igert: Sushi was absolutely great, it's rare to find sushi inside to be whole fish. The texture with this is worth the wait at this busy establishment. Service is decent as the staff is busy, but they are very fun and kind.Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Jon Beck: Whats Happened to TS? I have eaten there since they first opened many years ago, it was the best Sushi restaurant in Stl. We recently have had disappointing Sushi since I understand the managment has changed. Fried Philly Rolls were a little soggy and tasted completely different from previous orders and very bland taste. Not sure what the problem has been, but I understand the lady who worked the front desk has retired and now the food is sub par. This has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Sunset Hills, but it may be time to move on

Ben Wanner: We've tried a lot of other sushi places, but still consider Tokyo Sushi the best!Update 12/29/22: new owners maybe? Changed the fried rice (taste like frozen fried rice from a grocery store now) and changed the yummy roll (was our favorite roll from any sushi place).New yummy roll was still “ok” - but out of the yummy/caterpillar/ and shrimp tempura - the shrimp was the best.
Man Kim: I am an Asian, this is the best Japanese restaurant.
Cipriano Papalotzi: Is the best sushi in town love 😊
Ken Kong: Been eating here since they first opened. Food is always excellent as well as the service. But the last 2 times I've eaten here I get severe heartburn within an hour & stomach cramps/diarrhea a few hours after. Everything looked & tasted good both times. The first time it happened a month or so ago, I chalked it up to bad luck & everyone deserves a second chance. I ate here again yesterday & the exact same thing happened. Last night was awful! I won't be coming back. The common denominator with the last two visits? New ownership.

Cyndie Roche: It was a little dirty. The waitress was amazing, but the host and seating process was a bit of a mess. We waited 30 minutes only to be told they never put us on the list and then needed us to scan a code to do it ourselves. We were seated right away when we scanned because they had about 30 tables open.
Vikas Trivedi: Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5More
Marisa Merritt: The food is always wonderful- I usually go to Westport but tried this one. The staff is friendly to the customers but leave much to be desired to their own coworkers. Me and several customers stood and watched how the staff treated the host who is on the spectrum (mentally disabled) they were mean to him, ignored him when he asked them questions, made annoyed faces at him and more! They made me feel so angry and 2 different diners left because they didn't want to be seated in the areas of the rude staff. I did reach out to the manager and I pray he fixes this.

deepak agarwal: We went for dinner on a Sunday night and we’re finally able to be seated at a table after more than an hour of waiting. We were excited about the food since we were starving and the wait time and high prices had our hopes up for a good meal. We were in for an unpleasant surprise. First they didn’t have enough clean silverware so the server finally brought us a fork each by cleaning it himself( kudos to him for that!). The rolls were below average and you could tell they were just rushing to make them to meet demand. We had one of their most popular entrees as well which also was a 5/10 at best. My wife and I get Japanese in every city we visit. This was a great disappointment.Only plus is that they open late and that’s probably how they get business.

Our server barely came out to the table we couldn’t even get his attention to order more drinks. When our food finally came out our orders were wrong and the staff gave us attitude. It’s extremely overpriced for the service we received I really don’t recommend it at all. The restaurant was barely packed.

Cody Cummings: I dropped by Drunken Fish to grab some lunch with my wife while walking around the neighborhood, and it was pretty good. The presentation of the dishes was what you would expect from a sushi restaurant in the Central West End, and the prices follow suit. Not overly expensive, but some of the more basic rolls are a little pricey for what you get. That being said, I wouldn’t go to Drunken Fish for cheap sushi, I would go for nicer more unique rolls and dishes. The service was really nice, and the ambiance was casual but classy. I’ll be happy to come back by for dinner some time.
Sherry Sun: I came here with my fiance on a Sunday evening about 2 hours before closing. We didn't have a reservation so the hostess quoted us about a 40 min wait. Upon requesting to sit at the bar, she confirmed with the bar, and promptly lead us upstairs to the bar. After wiping down the bar table, she sat us down. We were greeted warmly by the bartender. We ordered the sushi combo and contemplated on sake. The bartender gave us samples of sake, which were all delicious. The sushi was fresh and delicious and service was spectacular.I would definitely come back here again. It's a bit pricey, but I think well worth it.

The cream cheese on the roll tastes as if it were sitting out all day, and the portion size of meat in the rolls were scarce.
