Peggy Bredenkoetter: We replaced our deck with a custom built deck from California Custom Decks, from start to finish it was a fun experience. First Mark came to our home and listened to our ideas and gave his input on what would work best for us. Next we went to their showroom to choose our materials, decking, rails etc.at the showroom there are pictures of projects they have completed and also completed samples that helped us imagine what our project may look like. They draw up our plans and made sure we were on the same page making sure we understood everything they had planned and that they knew exactly what we wanted.When our project was ready to begin we received a phone call giving us a start date, a time the crew would show and the names of our crew. On that day at the time they said they would be there the crew arrived. We had Mike and Joel with Kevin joining the team as the project advanced.These young men were wonderful. They were reliable, always on time, they were friendly, their workmanship was exceptional, they took the time to explain things that we may have questions about. If for some reason one would have to leave early or was not going to be there they took the time to explain why. They were truly nice to have at our home.Our deck is now complete and decorated. We enjoy relaxing and admiring it. We also smile and talk about the process and how fun it was, which is probably the most impressive part, because a project this large you may think there would have been some bump in the road but there was not. It was seamless from start to finish.We would like to thank everyone at Cal Decks for their assistance and I would be remiss not to mention Kathy in the office. I called Kathy many times with questions along the way, she was always pleasant and always got back to me with an answer, usually within minutes.

Janine Adams: We hired CalDecks to deconstruct our old deck and second floor sun porch and replace it with a two-story deck. From start to finish, they were courteous, professional and reliable. The crew came when they said they would and worked diligently. The job turned out to be a little more complicated than expected, due to unforeseen circumstances, and there were no complaints and no adjustment to the bill. They cleaned up after themselves beautifully, including multiple trips to take away the debris from the demolition. The decks are beautiful. My husband and I highly recommend CalDecks!

One prepared a bid “for” the builder; said builder didn’t like that part of the business. And then there is my experience with California Decks-above and beyond. In the shop they immediately sketched out ideas, showed me materials, suggested design options, gave cost info...everything to help me crystallize my thinking. Then Mark stopped by my house the next day. He refined original sketch and had very nice suggestions for added interest such as bringing out railing like bay window shape. The bid was very specific and reasonable, and when the workmen come that is when I really knew how fantastic this company was. They were efficient, timely, neat, quiet (no blaring radios), courteous..an absolute pleasure to have around. What a first class experience this was from start to finish!!! I cannot praise them highly enough. My deck is gorgeous.

Jerry Eddens: California decks rebuilt my cedar deck, removing all except the posts and joists. They then installed the decking, stairs and railings. When Mark reviewed the old deck, he suggested I add a "picture frame" which was 2 boards wide all around the deck floor, which allowed all the rest of the deck boards to be full length of 20 feet, with NO joints. The new step construction is more rigid and sturdy than my old steps, and the handrail they added is very helpful.Their installation personnel were hard working, courteous, concerned with quality, and very friendly. I can highly recommend California Decks for their value, quality and it was a pleasure dealing with them.

Elizabeth thomas: It took 2 months to get 22 windows installed. It took 5 months to get the correct window hardware for 1 window replaced. They offered $150.00 discount and an oops. I have an inverted screen that's protruding, missing trim that took 5 months to correct, spotty exterior sealant, missing screw covers on 8 of the 21 windows, and you received over 90% of the balance. Let me be clear, don't purchase from here unless you have 6 additional months to wait for minor repairs and money to throw away. Extremely unsatisfied!

He even found & replaced some bad caulking in the channel over the door that was the source for water getting in there. J Walter: We used Like New to build a second floor master bath addition on top of an existing first floor family room. We received bids from 7 contractors for the project and needed it started and completed as soon as possible before moving into the house. Like New was not the lowest priced bid overall but they did have the most competitive pricing from contractors that had completed similar projects in the past and they were the quickest at responding to our request, reviewing the project with their subcontractors and submitting their final proposal. In addition, they were available to start immediately after the holidays and had a seven week timetable to complete the project which was less than most other contractors.The overall project was completed on-time, on-budget and at good quality. We had a few issues with some of the subcontractors along the way but everyone at Like New was very helpful at getting everything corrected to our satisfaction as quickly as possible. We had never undertaken a construction project before so they were very helpful in making suggestions on layout, finishes, etc. if asked. They were very thoughtful in how the finished product would look and work which made us comfortable working with them from the start. Overall we were very happy with our selection and would definitely use Like New for additional projects in the future.
