City Sewing Room: what do users think?
Sunshine Levin: I took the Alterations class with Anne. It was amazing. She guided me through the process of shortening my skirt in just 2 hours. Learning by doing with Anne and the CSR team always provides new insights and skills
Velinda Dewitt: Always find what I need. Great peeps with warm personalities. It is my go to place for fun.
ginger S: Took my daughter here for the teen class. Reasonable prices on the classes and really showed her how to do basic things that she needed to learn. My daughter is ready for more classes.
Kevin Childers: My opinion is still out on this as there may have been some miscommunication.
Kate Sander: Terrific resource, great staff.
Agnes AJ: I just discovered this absolutely wonderful place where "makers" go to learn and hang out with each other. They have a wide variety of classes, ranging from learning to make your own dress form to learning how to use a long arm quilting machine. You can take classes on how to operate a sewing machine, and how to read a pattern. Even if you are already a sewist, there is still plenty here to learn. They have donated fabric which they sell for $2 per pound, along with various other notions and used sewing machines for sale. You can also bring whatever home project you're currently working on and pay $10 per hour to work on it there, and it includes the use of their equipment, i.e. sewing machines, sergers, irons, scissors, pins, etc. So, if you are making a large quilt and don't have enough space to comfortably work on it at home, they have several large tables for you to use. This place is awesome, such a great idea, and I HIGHLY recommend!
Amanda Strupp: I took a class through the community college and it was so wonderful, I am definitely going to check their schedule and see what else they have going on. The ladies were so kind and helpful and friendly!
Kelley: I don’t think it’s possible to love a place more. The women running this shop are all so incredibly sweet and helpful. I just took a basics class and I left feeling inspired and with lots of fun fabric to practice my new skills. I will absolutely be back!
Georganna Krumlinde: Found some good material.
Michele Williams: So...I just learned about the Sewing Room from Facebook...and let me tell you THIS PLACE IS A HIDDEN GEM!!! I started my sewing lessons and I love the Sewing Room. Everyone was soo welcoming, kind and genuinely friendly. I highly recommend coming here if you have a sewing project, want sewing lessons or need assistance related to sewing!
Carolyn Odom: I went to the center today because my sewing machine is not sophisticated enough to handle the home decorating project I was working on. I was greeted at the door by owner Anne and Rina. They consulted with me on my project and helped me to set up at a wonderful sewing machine. Everything was so convenient…. Notions, work tables, ironing board and irons, trash bins., everything conveniently placed for easy access. It was a most enjoyable 2 hours! Loved hearing the buzz of sewing machines and the lively chatter of fellow sewers and shoppers alike. Thanks Anne for such a great sewing venue! I appreciate your expertise on my project! I went home with a completed project that I am very happy with!
nicole marie: Came in for help with a costume, and she was very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable!
Shannon D: Lots of classes for adults and kids.
Ann Boyd Briggs: Great place! I purchased a basic used Janome sewing machine from them the other day. Check out their fabric selection @ $1 per pound.
Teresa Willis: Excellent community place to learn sewing. Work space for people who already sew and classes for beginners or those needing to advance their skills.
KB Raif MD: I have just started sewing and was having a lot of problems with adjusting the pattern of a tunic for my body and Anne was AMAZING! She actually figured out my issues and taught me how to fix it myself. Met some fun people there too. Can’t wait to go back in my spare time and sew there
mimi good: Its a great place i met designer Olivia Rae she is making me two dresses. They had a children's sewing class which all the children seem to be enjoying themselves. Also they had senior citizens doing their own thing too.
Frank Sullivan: Nice little place. They'll teach you how to sew and use your machine.
KIM L. KIRN: The City Sewing Room is an oasis of creativity, positivity and fun. The team made me feel so welcome and assisted me in my sewing adventures no matter where I was in my creative journey. My book club spent the night at the City Create House next door and we loved it. There is off-street parking and we brought some pizza in from a nearby pizza parlor. We played games, painted, laughed and made lasting memories. I hope to have many fun return trips.
Brie Miller: My daughter takes a homeschool sewing class here. The teacher is amazing & she's learning a lot.
Jennifer Rodriguez-Frias: Had a lesson and then spent an extra 2 hours working on a project. I'm brand new to sewing and feel like this is the perfect place sew and to get advice when you are stumped.

JOANN Fabric and Crafts: what do users think?
Janie Comerio: Samantha is an unprofessional manager. I ordered 2 yards of fabric on line, paid, received my receipt on Email and she couldn't figure out how to do the return. I was waiting for a simple transaction and was in the store for a good twenty five minutes. She was impolite and caused me a lot of time for what should have been a simple transaction. I did everything I was supposed to do. I even had to call this store while I was waiting inside the store at the fabric department for an employee to come and assist me as no one was nearby or in the department to measure my fabric for the return. Just sad on so many levels.
Mikayla L.: Quiet, easily accessible store, under stocked but quiet a pleasant location. Always check the back of the store for clearance!
Alessandra Abate: They have everything you need for crafting needs
Mr. and Mrs. Linnenbom: Rude clerks who have no time for customers. They really need customer training there badly. We'll never shop there again, that's for sure! What a sad, dismal lot of employees! The morale is deplorable.
Monica H: Had what we were looking for and it was on sale. Checkout went quick.
Grace Teague: Frustrating that the inventory is not up to date at all. Not sure why it's difficult to get an accurate inventory when everything is online, but I ended up only getting half of what I wanted despite checking inventory and placing a pickup order before leaving - not wasting my time driving to other stores, just order online.
Curt Balding: It has everything you could possibly expect from a fabric supply store.
Suzie irwin: Worst customer service. Went for an item that it said they had online. Couldn’t find the item, asked an employee for help and was told it is in the back and to check back next week. Called and talked to manager, Gabby, and she basically told me to order it online.
Terry Leible: Use your coupons to get the best deals.
Steve (Burnindaylight): Big store with small prices, Huge fabric selections and all types of sewing accessories. A perfect one stop sewing shop. You can even use their website to check in store availibility. Using their website plus your imagination does make it an one stop shop.
Kimberly Teague: Cute store. Such cool crafts
Laurel Wagner: The fabric selection was great and the cutter was helpful.
Precious Dela Rosa: I showed up well before close time, and the store was empty and closed when I arrived. Please adhere to your scheduled hours. If you want to go home at a different time, list that as your hours. Change the time on your door and Google. And then close at that time. Not a different time. I’m not trying to tell you what your operating hours should be, I’m just saying be open when you say you’re gunna be open.
Patsy Barnett: It's OK. Prices are high. I asked 2 staff members for spray glue. Each told me a different area, I didn't find it in either place.
cathy spengemann: Things are pretty pricey these days. This store has a lot of merchandise. Employees friendly but I did not have coupons!
Daniel Barnes: Halloween stock was low. Crafts are nice.
Shona Phillips: Their Quilting & Cosplay fabric sections have increased quite a bit, fun to see! Prices have stayed relatively the same, even better to see!!
Ross Just a guy: Nice store, nice people
Shannon O’Keefe: Staff was very helpful when I couldn’t find what I needed!
Emmy Dimes: These 5 stars are for Demarco! Thanks for the convo during check out and staying positive! Enjoy your frozen dinner, hope your break comes soon!Demarco needs a raise

Kaitlyn Raymond: Wonderful mission, lovely staff, and always a positive experience you can count on!
Chrissa Key: I Love this place and I do ALL kinds of art & crafts here. They are awesome people!!! Please check them out!!!!
Kevin Childers: Great place to Work on your own DIY project or to buy some STLMADE Americana.

Natalie Bishop: A fun space to relax and create with friends
Candance Burse: It was chilly in there but it was nice
Leslie Rice: Very helpful.
Debbi Ray: I learned how to make this soldered piece of art in a workshop. Very fun
Lynn Petersen: This is my 4th clothing swap @ Perennail. This one was safe and organized for covid. Always worth the trip to the city!
Teresa Willis: Perennial is keeping trash out of the landfills teaching people to reuse with brilliant crafts. Great classes, great staff and the coolest community workshop space!
Tyla Whitlock: This is a wonderful place to let your creativity flow!
Kara Heimburger: I love everything about this place! It's truly amazing all the materials are recycled. The staff is so friendly and encouraging. This is one of my favorite places to have girls' night, date night, or just solo craft. I HIGHLY recommend.
Graham Farrell: Took an intro class here with my wife and it was awesome! Jenny, the executive director, taught it and was amazing! Great setup, very convenient and creative. Lots of awesome opportunities to learn news skills. Highly recommend, and we'll definitely be back!
Seth Lindsey: Signed up for the up-cycled glass planter/terrarium on Dabble. After being about 30 minutes late the first class, Theresa was amazing about getting me caught up with the rest of the class on marking and cutting the templates, and I was off! The rest of the class went quite well learning to smooth sharp edges on the glass, cover the edges in copper foil, and ultimately solder all the pieces together. Theresa is one of the most pleasant people I've ever been around, and does an amazing job explaining and demonstrating the project.I will most certainly be signing up for other classes, especially ones I thought I'd never be interested in.
Besa Schweitzer: Such a neat workshop with many creative ideas.

St. Louis Alterations & Tailoring: what do users think?
Xandra Harris: Too pricey and extremely booked
John P. “Jack” Malone: What an asset to our community. Irena and her team provided alterations to my tuxedo that resulted in a perfect fit.Now I know what my wife raves about, and why her friends so highly recommended St Louis Alterations and Tailoring.Unparalleled expertise for women and men…Service:Formal wear tailoring

Anna Bross: My wedding dress was perfect. She pays such attention to detail to really make sure your dress fits like a glove. She also added beaded straps and a belt to my dress. She also did my rehearsal dinner dress - we added some delicate pearl sleeves.
Morgan Blankenship: I got married in October of 2022 and was so happy I went to St. Louis Alterations & Tailoring to get my dress altered. The whole process was perfect from scheduling the appointment, to actually having the appointment, to picking up my dress. The bustle on my dress was also beautiful and easy to do! I could not recommend them enough for your alteration needs!Service:Wedding gown alterations
john jonson: She did a great job on some pants and altered some suit jackets for me as well.
Elora Thiel: Perfect work. Very professional and reasonably priced!
Angela Van Booven: I had my wedding dress altered with Irina of St. Louis Alterations and Tailoring for our 12/31/22 wedding. Both the length and the sleeves needed altering (and she also did a bustle!) She did an amazing job on everything, and was always so kind and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!!Service:Wedding gown alterations
Postal Bear: Irina helped me with a major leather jacket alteration. It was a huge job that nobody else was willing to help me with and she's done a miracle for me!Services:Custom tailoring,Men's clothing alterations
Stephanie Blosser: Irina is truly my fairy godmother, lifesaver and miracle worker. My family and I used her services for my wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride and mother of the groom dress alterations. For my wedding dress she not only completed alterations, but added a bustle and attached a glitter belt. The dress truly felt custom to me and the alterations were absolutely perfect the first time I went in for a fitting. The attachment of the belt was perfect and it looked like it was made for the dress. Irina and her team helped save the day when we discovered a large dirt stain on my dress a day before the wedding! We called Irina hoping for advice on how we could get it out, but instead she said to bring it in and she would see what could be done! She kept in constant contact with my mother and managed to get the stain completely out and were were able to get the dress just a few hours later! I cannot thank her enough for her kindness and help. When my mother told me Irina was going to try to get the stain out I felt so calm because I knew if anyone could do it it would be Irina. She is a gem, so incredibly nice and professional! Look no further for your alteration needs.
Grace Staggenborg: I had my wedding dress altered at St. Louis Alterations & Tailoring and I had a great experience. I worked with Irena who was a total dream. She patiently answered all my questions and had great solutions for my too-big dress. I was nervous dropping off my Sarah Seven gown and Irena totally transformed it to fit like a glove. She was punctual, priced fairly, and had conservative approaches that put me at ease with my delicate gown. I even sent my maid of honor there for dress hemming and sent my husband in for alterations. I will continue to give her my business 😊Service:Wedding gown alterations
Lulu Sheremeta: Irina is the best person to handle an expensive, detailed, designer gown. My dress needed a bustle, hemming, sleeve adjustments and some custom work over the bodice. It requires very detailed and delicate work because is was glittery, beaded, and sequined. The end product looked incredible and professional. My favorite was the bustle. It made the back of my gown flow beautifully and looked even more magical when I was dancing. I received so many compliments from guests, wedding vendors, and my family still continues to talk about how it was one of the most exquisite wedding gowns they’ve ever seen. Photos below show the gown the day it arrived and the end work. The major work I had done was sleeves shortened and the sheer panel over the trunk covered with spare fabric from the hemming.Services:Wedding gown alterations,Dress alterations
Brooke Wheelwright: Irena did a fantastic job altering my wedding dress. My dress had a detailed beaded and floral design on the top that was too big for me. Irena worked her magic and made adjustments to make it fit perfectly without disrupting any of the design of my dress. You couldn't even tell it had been altered and it fit perfectly. Thank you, Irena!
Kevin Ortyl: There is no other clothing alterations company, in my experience, that has the perfect combination competence, quality and patience like St. Louis Alterations. No matter the challenge, they are able to meet and exceed their customer’s expectations.Irena is patient and calm regardless of the challenge presented. She and her staff work tirelessly to present their customer a perfectly fitted garment and, remarkably, are able to deliver on time and on budget. In speaking of budget…….SLA provides an outstanding value for their professional services.Services:Alterations,Coat jacket alterations,Men's clothing alterations
lucresha: I really appreciate the owner. This is my first time being married and she made me feel so good about my dress. I am truly excited about seeing the final alterations when my dress is complete. Please support this business she is super sweet and really professional!Services:Alterations,Wedding gown alterations
Madison Rybak: STL alterations & tailoring company did a wonderful job altering our entire family’s wedding day outfits. From my stunning wedding dress, long train, and veil - she made it fit perfectly. She also altered my dad & brothers tuxedos, my mother & mother-in-law wedding day dresses, and causal clothes for us in the last 18 months. She worked with us so well, knew exactly what needed to be done before we even said anything, and was extremely flexible with our schedules. She also introduced us to Tailored Gents next door for my dad to get the perfected fitted shirt & vest for the wedding. We can’t thank her enough and will be bringing all future tailoring details to her. We highly recommend her!!Services:Alterations,Men's clothing alterations,Wedding gown alterations
Sasha Hedges: Irina is very friendly and knowledgeable. I brought my wedding dress to her with a defect from the store and she was able to fix it perfectly as well as tailor it to my body. I would definitely go back for my alteration needs.Service:Wedding gown alterations
Polly Valle: I’m so thankful we found Irena to do the alterations on our daughters wedding dress! She was very professional yet made you feel she was altering for her own daughter. She truly cares for you and your needs! We met many obstacles with the dress and at one point actually talked about buying a new one. She never gave up on us and did everything in her power to help. She is very honest and can work miracles!! You will not be disappointed! Our daughters dress fit perfectly and she looked amazing!Service:Wedding gown alterations
Tealy Green: I highly recommend St. Louis Alterations and Tailoring! I took my wedding dress here for alterations and it turned out perfectly. When I bought the dress, the seller told me there was no way I would be able to bustle it because of the cut and fabric of the skirt, but they had absolutely no problem and it looked amazing. 10 out of 10 would recommend!
Alexandra Dodd: I came here for alterations on my wedding dress and I was very happy with the results. I had the shoulder straps shortened and a bustle added. The shop tended to be very busy, so I would recommend that any bride allow at minimum 2 months for alterations, but more time would be better.
Dina Rinder: Irena is fantastic! She is professional, honest and easy to work with. We had a complicated bridal gown to alter with a lot of lace and layers and she did a fantastic job!Service:Alterations

JOANN Fabric and Crafts: what do users think?
debbie apponey: Clearly JoAnns has no interest in supplying garment sewers. Who needs that much fleece and fannel?
Susan Missey: This store has a great selection in all departments. The staff has always been friendly and helpful.
Jenna Hertlein: Good prices and super friendly and helpful employees!
Sam Reed: Poor customer service
Emily Brands: My go-to place for fabric and cosplay supplies! They're a tad more expensive than Walmart fabric, but their selection and variety can't be beat! Plus they always have coupons online so it definitely makes up for the price difference!Staff are always kind and friendly, never had an issue with them.
Leone Shurn (Designs by Leone): Love this store, always friendly and polite.
Kim: Good prices and can always find new craft ideas to do with my kids
Emily S Frohner: First time visiting and quite impressed with the selection of various fabrics.
Jan: So much to look at and lots of sales!
Mary Hettenhausen: Counter help wasn't very helpful.. vei poor selection of stock for crochet materials.
Ruth Pope: 1 sales clerk was very rude!!!!I don't usually say that because I know some people are overworked so I try to give them a benefit of doubt. But she was very, very rude.
Margarita Welch (Margie): Always seem to take forever with everything they have
Kellye Markowski: Today Joanns has a 20% off coupon for ordering online and picking it up in the store. I used that while in the store, selected the item off the shelf, paid for it online and now I am forced to WAIT. Wait for their system to show I made a purchase. I am told it might be up to an hour until their system reflects the purchase. They can’t look at my receipt showing I made the purchase and apparently their system is snails pace slow. What a HUGE inconvenience to their customers! I’ve done all the work for them but I’m made to WAIT with the product in my cart for their system to work. I wasn’t the only one in the store standing around waiting either! JoAnns should either speed up the electronic process or give everyone 20%!
Tina James: Love the quality of the material and the prices and choices!
Barbara Trice: Jo-Ann's is a wonderful place to buy fabrics and crafts, but it always takes you too long to get out of the store because they do not have enough check out personnel. It is always a 20 to 30-minute line, no matter what time of the day it is. If you are on lunch hour you cannot take that amount of time to stand in line. Maybe they need a self checkout line for small items.
patricia lipe: Didn't shop here but a good place to visit for clothing and sewing notions material and projects
Alessandra Abate: They have everything I need
Becky Falls: Got 80% off Christmas items so I got a blow up gnome ×3 and that 40% off regular priced item for my fabric
Darlene Dilbeck: The yarn and crochet hook section was nearly gone! It's the first time I've seen the cupboard so bare! I guess the sale worked!
Karen St. John: It was good I just thought there sticker selection was bad and the stickers they did have were overpriced
Mike Johnson: Wow. Whole time I talked with a clerk felt as if they wanted me to go. Most unwelcome I’ve ever felt shopping.
