SSM Health DePaul Hospital - St. Louis: what do users think?
Lovelace Productions: When I was 15 I came here for bleeding while pregnant I was miscarrying my child at 15 weeks I spent 8 hours in the waiting room ACTIVELY miscarrying my beautiful daughter she came out in that very toilet in there waiting area all because they wouldn't take me to the ob ward because I was a minor I never got anything for my daughter and still grieve her as a adult today this happened in 2019 and I've been there for BIRTH after won't go back
Beat Up: Years ago a person I knew came to DePaul bc he had been in a motorcycle accident and suffered brain injuries.. what did DePaul do …? SEND HIM HOME 2 days later where he died . All bc the don’t care ! Been going to DePaul since 2018 had my baby here and the experience was ok , NOW it’s dirty as ever now and just bad ! The people upfront the shorter woman I’m guessing she’s new she’s seems to be confused all the time . She don’t talk to you at all when u want to sign in .. and the shorter guy with the tattoos is ALWAYS RUDE I was there 7hrs before asking when will I go back & it wasn’t even packed he got mad at me and went to the back . I came in for high blood pressure and abdominal pain , he didn’t order a ekg , didn’t provide me with any accommodations so I won’t die or stroke out .White people would sign in and be seen 15 mins tops . You guys needs some funding REALLY BAD this place is HORRIBLE. You guys bill insurance companies outrageous amount just to get the bare minimum. Oh soon as i complained Dr Heidi rushes in give me my discharge papers without explaining anything and rushes out leaving my IV in my arm .. I was lost for words bc it was the worse experience I had in my life you would think I came in trying to take something away from them how upset they were . These are not doctors and nurses who love to help .these are people waiting on their shift to end .
Gwen Stewart: Called the hospital to check on a family member. I waited on hold for over 25 minutes. Now what kind of hospital does that. A low rate, low class hospital that's who. I was so disgusted and I hope people realize that there are much better hospitals in St. Louis. Previously, as a patient, I personally had an experience that lacked competence and caring.
S Garring: Visiting family on 4th floor. It smells like urine, the floors are filthy, stains on the window blinds. Overall not clean. Go somewhere else if you can.
Tracey Ryan Smith: I am and have been a patient of Dr. Timothy Jennings through SSM for over 20 years. Recently he informed me of a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes, and prescribed medication. My levels were so high (glucose over 400 and A1-C over 15.5) that he advised that I double my prescription and begin a treatment of insulin. Since that day of May 5, 2023 I have not been issued a prescription of the insulin that my insurance program covers, and I have been without the medication that he asked me to double. I have no medication at this time, and I have called his office daily, sometimes 2x's a day to either speak with him or attempt to find out the status of my medication. My pharmacist initially suggested 2 different insulin medications that were covered, but I have yet to this day received an approval from my physician. Nor has an updated prescription been sent to the pharmacist to get the medication for which he asked me to double in dosage. The clinical staff has been disrespectful, unprofessional, exasperated and unhelpful in every manner. My health, and life are at stake and his staff seems to have a personal vendetta with my pharmacy as they've called them liars, and untrustworthy.I love Dr. Jennings and am not fully certain if he is aware of the staffing issues, but I just want to get my meds and begin the process of recovery for my disease. Any and all assistance is requested.
D Irons (CaramellaDiSweet): I arrived at DePaul's ER and nurse Erica offered me medication after several hours of waiting without any formal procedure regarding giving me an ID bracelet and scanning it when dispensing medication. Since there was no formality to DePaul's dispensing of medication, I wanted to ensure what medication was being dispensed to me so asked nurse Erica what the medication was and she refused to tell me what the medication was and told me that I was refusing the medication. Given this miscommunication, Erica proceeded to hold me down with her knee on my chest and ribs while two other nurses and a security guard held my arms and legs down to inject me with the medication instead of simply informing me of the medication being offered to me. Since she would not inform me of the specific medication name, I repeated that I just wanted to know what the medication was and that I do not consent without having this information while this assault was taking place. I left this hospital with bruises on my arms, legs and a rib, lung and chest injury that prevented me from working my physically laborious job for almost 6 months. While I was admitted to the hospital after the assault, I and many other patients were treated as if we were the scum of the earth. Since the physical assault and verbal harassment towards me and other patients occurred at DePaul, I informed DePaul's complaints department just to be told that verbal methods of treating patients is wrong and they are going to implement training for those specific employees but the physical method of handling me instead of informing me of the medication name is acceptable. I was a medical worker at several local Barnes Jewish Hospitals and I have never even attempted to apply for a job at DePaul given the abhorrent reputation that this hospital has by word of mouth. After my experience here at DePaul, unfortunately, I had to learn for myself from this life changing situation why DePaul has such a horrible reputation. Take this as you will but I warn you of the lack of professionalism and the medical misconduct that you may experience at this hospital. I recommend you go out of your way to choose Barnes Jewish Hospital.
Kyla Fowler: Thank you Dr. Schwoerer for taking care of my mother. You are truely phenomenal!
Tina Jackson: I never leave reviews but this is the worst hospital I ever been to they do not care n it shows I been here 3 days now only seen the doctor once n it was because I said I was leaving the nurses leave u n the room all day they do not check on u literally this place is a joke honestly
victoria moore: I like DE Paul hospital , they are really respectful, and caring , it's a clean place
Ms. Fowler: My Loved one is here an so far so good..take care of my Daddy.
Gina Oliver Wildgrube: Today I had upper endoscope with Dr. McDonough. He and his surgery staff were five star! My nurse Tracy was exceptional in giving me an IV on the FIRST try. Anybody that knows me knows that never , very rarely happens. She gets the Daisy and Tulip award vote from me!!!!!! When I woke up I was crying, very loud, embarrassing so. The anesthesiologist says that sometimes happens, especially with younger people. Me, being 60 years old said well, I am sort of a hip Grandma.😄 Thank you to my entire staff today from even registering when I arrived. GREAT JOB DEPAUL!
Nikki Thomas: If you want to live to see another dayDO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!!And of course they will hit you with "we strive to provide excellent and quality service , your well - being is our number one priority , we are making improvements to better serve you, your feedback is important to us!😂😂😂 ...what a joke, BJC 2000 percent better, should of followed my first mind!🙎🙎🙎.Let's not forget Patronizing and utterly rude ER entrance nurses and their male sidekick who are unprofessional to say the least and I'm being kind! SSM should stand for SlapStickMockery of a hospital ,. They have signs saying they won't be disrespected or deal with rude behavior yet they can , because well they are getting paid to pretend to care while prejudging you ,This use to be a great hospital regardless , Oh I'm sorry I'm thinking General Hospital !
Veronica Mcbroom: The nurses were excellent. Wonderful and very attentive. The doctors were great as well. Overall, my experience was very good under the diagnosis I received.
Ruby Bell: This place is horrible,Dirty they were rude, inpolite they let my husband choke to death and didn't do anything about it.The nurses and the staff were highly rude and unprofessional.
Wyatt Barton: This is a horrible hospital they dont check on their patients they dont make sure their eating the nurses are mean when u ask for something the hallways smell horrible this hospital is the worst hospital that I have experienced especially for older people I do not recommend bringing someone you love bere
Isaac Ivie: when you’re hurt or sick they have you wait for an unbelievable amount of time. if you dont have a major injury you sit there and wait forever
Corey Hotsenpiller: Hands down the worst experience in an ER ever. Asked one of the front desk employees, Kayla a simple question, she snapped back when I asked why they wanted me to sit in an overcrowded waiting room to take a pill, I was cut off with if you would let me finish. So along with rudeness, you get filthy restrooms! Went in the available restroom and someone had peed everywhere. When I say everywhere, I mean everywhere. Asked a security guy if he could call someone to clean it up, his response was, not my job, just use some toilet paper and clean it off. Avoid at all cost.
Betty Green: Arrived at the emergency room at 2:30 today. I was called in blood taken and sent back out to the waitingroom. I am still here and it is after 6 pm. I see other females of other races come on after me and their names are called and you never see them again. The female nurse is snappy and not approachable. I guess it is because of the signs up and the security.Bad choice in emergency room.
Michelle Bell: It's impossible to get anything at this hospital. My grandmother was admitted Sunday night. Monday morning I walk into her room. She has no tray table, she's in restraints because she was pulling her IVs, and her breakfast was sitting on the windowsill cold. Would she ever have gotten to eat of I didn't come in? It took 3 days, yes, 3 days to finally get her a tray table so she could eat her food without a family member holding her plate. We are on day 4 of asking for a simple AA battery for the clock in her room. It's 9am and the clock is reading 3:30. Hard to keep someone from being confused when they look at the clock and it's nowhere near accurate. Most of the staff are friendly but other than that, this place is terrible. It's unfortunate the paramedics took her here in the first place. She has a big sign on her fridge to take her to St. Lukes if anything were to happen.
Dana Hammond: I have been visiting SSM DePaul for years. Their employees are always friendly. Their bathrooms are always clean and smell fresh. The elevators ride smoothly. They are clean as well. They offer hand sanitizer at every elevator.
Be Love: Great place

Kindred Hospital St. Louis: what do users think?
Cass Townsend: I wouldn't send my worse enemy to this facility. We were blatantly lied to when we asked about our loved ones status and medications. They were very nonchalant about the fact that LTAC is the last chance for these people to get off of these vents. These are people's lives you are dealing with! When our loved one was sent to Barnes ER and was admitted, I cried and thanked them profusely for keeping my loved one with them. This was a terrible experience, and I can't possibly write it all here. But please, if you are looking at LTAC facilities for your loved one, keep looking. They don't care one bit about these people.
Doug Wilson: The entire staff was awesome. Hope I never need to use the hospital again but if I did I would want to be there.
Hunny Gambino: I honestly don't know what to rate right now all I know is my mom is there on vent and trach and I already am feeling like I wanna vomit! I'm worried and if anything happens to her there I will flip. Mr Winston was very kind and the young man in physical therapy . Alyssa was also really sweet so far but nothing else . I can't sleep I'm worried sick
Krislyn Goodrich: A LOVING, KIND FAMILY ATMOSPHERE.My experience at Kindred Hospital was phenomenal overall. The food is fresh, a nice surprise for a hospital, especially when your stay is on the longer side. The nurses are personable. The wound care is great, I had many injuries still needing tending to day and night when I first got there, and they were more than able to do the wound care efficiently but also kept u with remembering the wound care as it changed and slowly diminished over the course of my visit. Dr. Ada is kind and listens, but is also funny and easy to talk to.Dr. Kris and Mr. Darrick along with the rest of the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy teams are very careful and know just the right level to push you. They have a huge part in why I am able to continue my journey of healing in the right direction. They have given me the ability to learn what works for me in my healing.Overall, I can’t thank Kindred enough. My family and I spent a lot of time deciding where to send me for my continued care and I am confident we made the right decision in them.
Bunny B: Love this place they took really good care of my dad while he was there. Would recommend hands down..
Tamara Noubarian: The care I was giving it Kindred Hospital was amazing.
Kimberly Cornell: This is a wonderful place and the staff are great.
Jamesha Gaston: If you ever need a place to recover kindred is the place to go the staff are so kind & sweet you’ll love it 😉.
Shannon W: The people here took really good care of my and answered any questions i had while also being patient with u
Dayton White: Took very good care of my wife while she was here, most of the nursing staff is extremely awesome and very proficient care givers and very patient if the patient has difficulties with anything
Michael Desmond: It was a place I came to and knew nothinf about. I think they create a family atmosphere, so it doesn't feeel like an institution. They are effective. I lost nearly 28 pounds in water weight from my swollen legs. Overall Kindred is a very professional place. The staff know their job, and do it well. Rogaciano is very good. Derrick was very motivational and easy to work with. Fred is a fantastic individual that made me a free painting. Bob was very thoughtful, and came to see me a lot. Dr. Palepu and Dr. Munshi were very visible and good at explaining things. I got a kick out of Romanita. Sarah was very good. Alex kept me good company. Theresa has been around the track, she's very knowledgeable and resourceful; and she gets things done. Polly does her job very well.Even the directors came to see me often. I grew very close to many of the people here, and I was in no rush to leave.
Africa Doll: I love this hospital 🏥!. Location is everything! Thank you guys for loving my brother as I do!
Bobby Brookhart: If there was a way to give them zero stars or a negative star rating I would. My son was a patient there and recieved the worst care possible. They lied and dropped the ball repeatedly. The nurses are lazy for the most part tho there are a couple that did do there job . There one shining star is Mike in respitoary. If you don't have someone that can stay with the patient and watch after them don't take them here. It's a terrible place and should be shut down.
M S: Hung up on me while asking for medical help ten seconds after I called
Jess Branham: A couple years ago; First my father in law was there, he told us numerous times he would push his call light for help to the bathroom and it would take them over 2 hrs to get to him, then they'd tell him and us he needed depends, he told them he didn't need them, he just couldn't hold it that long. He was in a bad wreck and could take himself.THEN... just this yearMy dad was there and they just kept him medicated so they didn't have to deal with him. He wasn't being changed enough, he was supposed to be gotten up and put in a chair once a day, that didn't happen. he lost significant weight and he told me every time I talked to him that they didn't listen to anything he said. It seemed he never was bathed, they couldn't even wash his face daily. I wouldn't trust them with my worst enemy! If you love your family member and they need a lot of care, do NOT take them to Kindred in st louis! there are a couple good nurses, th others just give them whatever meds they can so they don't have to deal w them! They need better staff or shut down!Especially if they aren't in their right state of mind! But we have had experience with one family member that was in their right state of mind and one that wasn't, both received neglect!
Lucia M. Smithee: This is The Best place for your family or loved ones. The care here is above and beyond. They have the most consistent and kind people working here. 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 all the way.
Al Edwards Sr.: Very pleasant place. It is nice and clean. The staff were very nice, and I’m pleasantly surprised with my progress because they got me off the vent/trache even though the previous hospital said I never would.
Accounting 4u: This hospital is the best and anyone that needs care should come here. They take really good care of you. They wash you as much as you want. They provide the medicine you need, and I really don't want to leave.
Jennifer Gardner: Please don't send your loved ones here especially if they are not able to speak for themselves and let you know the treatment they are receiving. My father was placed here on a ventilator. They quickly removed the trach and did not suction him causing him to go into cardiac arrest which he passed from. Please find another alternative instead of this place, it is a death trap and the staff is rude and negligent.
Greg Helton: They had men and women in the same room. Calling a nurse was like yelling in a canyon they didn't come. They are completely understaffed and the food was not edible. You lose all dignity if you go to this place. I wouldn't send my worst enemy there if I had any. In my opinion I would consider this place criminally negligent. There were a total of four good nurses that work there. The rest of them wasn't worth a dime.
Charles Shelton: Thanks for supporting Teens Of Tomorrow our young men appreciate any support that we can get from the community..

St. Louis Children's Hospital: what do users think?
A Reising: Always exceptional care. For our kids we always bring them straight here in case of an emergency. Also had multiple surgeries taken place here. All staff and doctors have all been amazing, kind and great towards the kids.Lovely facilities with a great Cafe, gift shop and sibling room. Fish tanks, bright and cheerful pictures around that the kids enjoy
Janae Norman: The staff at children's hospital are amazing!!! We had a wonderful experience and our family thanks you so much!
Chasity Gwinn: This hospital is truly outstanding. They basically saved my daughter’s life and gave her more quality. They are supportive and wonderful.
Samantha Cantrell: Our nurse Todd, was amazing. All of the nurses during the "morning shift" were great! They deserve ALL the praise! You could definitely tell, there was a shift change. I was not impressed with the evening shift nurse. ( I don't remember his name) He totally dismissed my son's request for something for pain. I had to ask 2 different doctors if my son could have some tylenol or ibuprofen.I do love this hospital. The night shift nurse is my only complaint.
Jacob Phillips: Great hospital and amazing medical care !
Jessica Larson: We are so grateful for the cardiology team and Dr. Dillon and his team. They have all answered any questions we might have about surgeries for our daughter, we are just glad to be at this hospital having the best care for our daughter.
Kara Smith: My son started going to this hospital for brain cancer when he was 15, every single staff member from Doctor to housekeeper both surgical stays that we have been there were amazing every single time we visit for an MRI every single person is amazing they're understanding they treat my son like an adult like it's his cancer because it is to talk to him they discuss it with me too but they know it's his choice and they're okay with that and that's one of the best things that I can think of when it comes to living a life with cancer. And being a parent of a child with cancer I could never ask for better people to take care of my son whether it's cleaning the room bringing him food or just his overall care the team at St Louis children's hospital is the best that there's ever been. If you have a sick kid I I would take them here.
Jere Gettle: We’ve had three of our children as patients here, and two of them for surgeries, world-class service, and compassionate care!
Артур Руденко: Спасибо что помогаете мне
Ebony Wright: It's a good hospital I like bringing my son I have to bring him every Thursday and Tuesday the physical therapist on Thursdays in the morning or really good with him he and she understands me and all that and stuff like that and she be glad to see my son and the lady on Tuesdays does too for his legs they r very nice
Denise Deck: The best staff i have every encountered!
Isaac Smith: Great hospital, Was here when I was 14 and they made my stay easier, they also have emotional support dogs 🐕.
Yolander Watson: My son was hit by a car Tuesday and children's took him in and took good care of him. They didn't hesitate and had surgery on him. Thank God for this hospital.
John Doyle: Very caring staff, nurses and doctors. Everyone is kind and loving, well trained and focused on doing the best for children. I am thoroughly impressed and blessed with the experience we have had.
Ali Donnenwerth: Absolutely abhorrent excuse for human beings who run their facility like a prison. They block you from leaving until they make the highest amount of money possible. If you assert your right to leave, they call CPS on you. The doctor I saw used false imprisonment and should be prosecuted.
Benjamin 123: We quit using this hospital years ago because of all the issues. Our doctor sent us there to the ER. Visit was fine till we got discharged. We have NEVER had a visit without some sort of issue! We were left scrambling with minutes to get a prescription transfered from their pharmacy to ours before their pharmacy closed and he would be without the meds he needed. Called to talk to the doctors who treated him for help and was sent to voicmail. NEVER trust health care.
Brianna Hicks: Wonderful hospital.I loved it when I was s patient there I'm 1986 and it's only gotten better.
Jacqueline Snider: The Emergency Department is a 5, Dr. David and Dr. McEnvoy are also 5's. They saved my granddaughters life on December 25, 2022; what a Christmas Miracle! The 6th, 8th and 12th, floor staff are also 5's!Thank you all for being more than healthcare provider's but loving and caring individuals. ❤️
Quatt: Only one star because it’s needed for post horrible.
DeAndrea Hammonds: Long wait times and rude nurses is all this place have you have doctor walking around facetimeing and talking on the phone while children are suffering as a father of two these guys are my last resort .If this hospital cares about their patients well they have a funny and disrespectful way of showing it
Ty Campbell: Barnes Jewish hospital is outstanding in its employees, although it could be more clean at times the staff compensate for that well. Bjc responds fast, and they took care of my family with respect, I've met so many new friends, thank you.

Mercy Hospital St. Louis: what do users think?
Sue S: The way this hospital managed my daughter's stay/discharge is nothing short of neglect. They insisted on discharging less than 36 hours after a trauma and 1st surgery, with a pain score of 8 out of 10 and still bleeding. The surgeon wanted her to remain in the hospital so that the surgery on bones in her face could be done right away. But no, 'gotta get you outta here!!! Go, see ya, and btw, here's the misinformation we want you to have regarding your discharge plan and follow up'. So her surgery is delayed, her pain continues to be unmanaged and her recovery will be prolonged. Thanks Mercy.! Your concern about your stats really outweighs your concern for patients. So glad we have such a great level1 trauma center here. She'd have gotten better care just about anywhere.
Lisa Ghattas: I got the green flu🤢🤮😌🤮💯💯💯😪😪😪😪😪
Sashay Wallace: Quick fast and diagnosis you with the correct medications unlike Slu
Mike Schwab: They treat there nurses like blue collar trash. It’s funny how they have all these openings and no one wants to work for them. They have ran Dr’s off because they won’t join there group, basically forcing them to do procedures in there facility and not a private surgery center. Because they are not getting g apiece of the pie. Because of them the center I work at is closing. They are selfish and all they care about is money!! I would not send a stray dog to one of there facilities.
jill foss: I've been in three different hospitals since Dec of 2022 I understand now why they call your hospital the palace difference was night and day your caring staff are a great bunch of people very caring and comforting from now on I will only go to your hospital thank you so so much for your cre💯👏
Theo Russ: My wife presented to the ER as a possible stroke. She was wheeled to a large back room where a number of people stood over her. No introductions or explanations. She was questioned by the "leader" for a history. Where I come from, this looked like Attending Rounds. My wife has a psych history which is documented in her chart. She felt intimidated by the set-up and froze up somewhat in responding to the questions, and I'm not sure she gave a totally accurate history. She was admitted, and on the floor we past the Stroke Team Office and various posters advertising them. Maybe the people she saw were part of that team? Anyhow, no further visits from that team to explain and reassure her. She was told she had a "TIA" and discharged the next day.
Denise Lorenz: I will never step a foot in that hospital again, I had my upper lobe “lung” removed of cancer. I had a reaction to the epidural so for 4 days I was in lala land, Dr came in my room and yelled at me that I was not listening to the staff or I dreamt it idk! And one other thing is I was being interrogated by a nurse, my opinion is at that time I thought it was a out of body experience she sat me in front of her, constantly asking question after question ok let’s keep in mind I am still in lala. I asked for a breathing treatment and it took them 10hrs to get me one the nurse even said that she would give it to me if they let her pretty sad isn’t it. I could not walk a foot without gasping to breath and they sent me home like that, so I got home and 3 days later my friends called 911 and was taken to a different hospital and was in respiratory failure. so I went to get dressed and staff had stolen 2 pair of sweatpants, ear pods, and a battery back up charger. So yes I would give them a minus if I could. Plz be aware if you go to that hospital surgeon or staff have no empathy
Jennifer J: Waiting room was clean, wait was short and all the staff were very nice.
John Kurtz: This hospital, along with it's network of charities, SAVED my husband's LIFE!!!!!!!
cindy fitch: I had an emergency visit on 5-5-23. The care I received was excellent from all that worked with me.Corrie Donnel was my PA when I was moved to the observation floor, and my experience with her was above any expections I could have had. Everyone including all the people that did testing were well trained and professional. I must include the people that did transportation too.
Dalton Berry: Great doctors and nice staff. The night shift is completely unprofessional, rude, and immature. Specifically the girls with brunette hair. She is one of many that tried to prevent me from puttting on my pants before bed. She made it seem like her job was a joke and that is ridiculous. I will never go back. If some does go and has to stay over night, then be prepared for nobody to come when you press your alarm button. Be prepared for a childish attitude during your medical treatment.
Laura A.: The ER staff was absolutely wonderful to my son and explained everything so well to make him feel at ease. Thank you very much, it matters!
Molly Hartigan: This review is for the Behavioral Health Intake Department. If you go here with a plan for suicide, a date set and intention to act, they will recommend IOP, which is not meant for acute stabilization. I was told that because the person I was with was smiling, they were not considered at risk for suicide. This leads me to question the training and credentials of those clinicians involved, including the psychiatrist. Someone can feel relief that they are finally getting help, which might lead them to smile. This is not a valid criteria to use. For kids who are experiencing thoughts of suicide, I would recommend a different facility. Here, there is a chance they will not receive the care they need and deserve. Go somewhere else that takes suicide seriously.
Amy Holland: This E.R is FILTHY top to bottom. That is just what is visible. ALL of the staff has been amazing.
Stacey Schwendemann: All the nurses were really nice and kind to me and my child. Then as soon as it was so called "busy" then my son who had just gotten out of surgery wasn't checked on until the the shift change. He was not checked on to see if he was in any pain or giving any food when he woke up and it wasn't like he couldn't have anything they were just "busy" definitely could of been better. I was just lucky that I had some chips for him to snack on. I understand when it gets busy but to not check in even when I have call is just horrible.
Lauren Fuller: Took my son to the ER last night for an ear infection. If i could give this hospital 100 stars I would. Everyone was so nice, hardly any wait time, and the pediatric doctor was so nice and we even threw some jokes in to make my son try and smile. Thank your for taking such good care of my baby.
Alysa Griffy: Doctors very nice was on the labor and delivery floor tried to help as much as possible with pain and discomfort
Jeffery Garrison: I tried to make complaints to them about doctor being against gender issues and then told me I can't speak freely adding cuss words because I'm female voice.
Tammy Miranda: Nursing is awful!!! We found night nurse sleeping. If we hadn't stayed with our mom, I hate to think what would happened.
Jaye Moore: I came in at 11:11 exactly for eye pain, didnt get my vitals took until 2:30, didn’t get into the triage until 3:15 and I didn’t get seen by the doctors til almost 7:40 and when they did come see me they were being very rude and impatient
shawna walton: ICU trauma unit saved my sons life!! Best staff ever good coffee spacious waiting room

SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital: what do users think?
Connie Richter: I came into trauma unit with multiple fractures. They were to take full body scan. 3 days later I find out they forgot to do one scan of a body part which then showed I hade more fractures there. Trauma had to wait 2 days to operate since so busy. Nurses and care in trauma unit were excellent. When they need another room in trauma and you’re stabilized, they move you to the old section of the hospital where the rooms are small and care is terrible. You have to wait for nurse to answer call button sometimes 10 minutes and most of these nurses are so unhappy and mad when you need something. I’m waiting to transfer out and can’t wait to get out of here!!
Francesca Fenner: My husband passed out on our front porch ems was called and they transported him to the hospital. I waited a hour to go there when I arrived I was treated poorly by the ER receptionist. I called at least a week straight to make a complaint and no one never contacted me back. This hospital has poor service, I rather die than go get treated here.
S Garring: Spent days in hospital waiting for a Specialist at SLU to return my Dr.'s phone call regarding my condition. Never returned the call so now we are consulting with another hospital. Seriously unprofessional.
Stephen Gendron: Horrible experience. I was warned but we took a chance. My son has a broken ankle now 7 hrs and no updates. Staff is rude and provides zero updates.Very disappointed and this hospital and especially the ER need to learn from others and fix the moral, staff and wait times ridiculousOh wait now 9 hrs freekin pathetic
Abby Seachrist: This shouldn’t even be a hospital if they won’t help people WHO NEED IT. We’ve been here in the waiting room since 7:00pm as well as multiple other people, it’s now almost 2:00am. All they did was draw my blood and say they didn’t know my results.. The nurse was extremely rude.. I wouldn’t even recommend coming here if you were dying.. PLEASE go somewhere else. You won’t get help, you’ll just get placed in a waiting room for hours..
Ginger Youngman: My daughter arrived via ambulance at 12:30am and at 6:30am has not been seen or even taken to a room in the ER so she left and headed to Barnes!
Jbriana Smith: The person that answer the phone for emergency/trauma is very rude and hung up the phone while I was asking a question about a loved on who was recently admitted in the hospital
La Tonya Walker: This is the worst hospital in St Louis. You will sit in the emergency room for 14 hours with no masks given out, wounds that are bleeding and you will be sitting there . They don’t care. The new building does not have enough emergency room staff to take care of the patients. I don’t recommend you go there because they are under staffed you might as well go somewhere else. They built a new hospital to take care of less emergency patients but more clinics that are not open for emergencies . This hospital is the worst. I wouldn’t recommend that you go there. A new facility with little to no emergency staff…ridiculous. If you go there with an emergency hope you have burial insurance because that’s the only time they will see you!! I would have given this hospital no stars but I didn’t have the option… This hospital should be shut down.
Nessa Bell: Very friendly and clean bathrooms
Tinisha Neal: The lady Florence is not at all knowledgeable about anything she does there and if you are ever admitted to this hospital 5th floor south and she is appointed as your nurse you will be surely disappointed so I advise you to tell them immediately that you do not want your care left in her hands
Sashay Wallace: The worst hospital in stlouis the staff is horrible and rude . I’m currently in the emergency room and I sat and watched an elderly woman ask for help for 45 minutes and they ignored her until I spoke up for her . I been in the waiting room since 1 something it’s now 10pm I still haven’t seen a doctor and on top of that they been did X-rays n a EKG early just to take my money cause they know by it being a level 1 trauma center the wait time is long as hell so most people eventually walks out . As I Waited one of the nurses tried to In courage me to go to another hospital for treatment after already waiting 6 hrs now it’s been 9 hrs still haven’t been seen by a doctor I left . I wouldn’t recommend a dead dog to go there if you don’t come through the emergency entrance with a stabbing r gun shot wound might as well go somewhere else . This hospital deserves a Zero
Nic Harvey: Waited over 5hrs and did not get seen..While the staff laughs & giggles. Very disappointed with this visit. I will not be back anytime soon. Will take drive to Mercy..
Jessica: I'm out of town while my husband is a patient there. I've asked multiple times over the last 3 days to so many people (nurse, charge nurse, and a doctor) to call me back with updates. And no one is calling me back with any information. It is beyond frustrating I can't be there physically for my husband and they won't call me back. So I call to tell them to call me when they get new information. And they haven't.
Shay Baby: Trying to track down what hospital my mother was taken to as she is sedated and I live in another state and don’t speak to my siblings so I asked for a social worker as I suspect elderly abuse and the worker was so incredibly rude and then hung up in my face when I asked for a manager. I see why this hospital has terrible reviews! I guess I’ll have to go the old school route so I can’t be hung up on! See y’all soon :)
Zach Dygard: No address on the front door. GPS takes you to the back. They have no signs anywhere in the building telling you where to go. My wife is in a wheelchair and life is hard enough but we missed our appointment due to the simple fact there's no address on the entrance and no signage in the building. It's pretty, but useless. If they put aesthetics above functionality makes you wonder what they are charging for.Anyways I'll never come back. All hospitals can get confusion but the medical offices here are the absolute worst.
Angelica Belardo: Worse place ever!! And the girls at the emergency entrance not professional at all!! Waited 5 hour and never got seen, just walked out! Got X-rays done and didn’t even get results! They better not bill us either cause I will NOT pay!!
9Tailsfan: I personally had no issues. I was treated for IDA. Iron Deficiency Anemia. All the basic tests where done. Two blood transfusions and two iron infusions. The staff was super nice and professional. The hospital and my room was clean. The food was OK. You do need order before the kitchen staff closes up. And you need to be be more open minded about your diet. Don't b*tch about eating"dead animals".And if your loved one needs assistance with eating, then you need to tell the staff. Remember this is a hospital NOT a 5 star restaurant OR your house!
J R: I was there on April 27, 2023 around 10:30 till noon and there was a black lady standing out at the parking garage area where you put your ticket in when you leave. I didn't understand why she was there when I could do the same thing that she was doing for me. So I asked her why she was there since I could do the same thing and she told me, "it's none of your business." I could not believe she said that. If she would have been a white woman, I guarantee she would never have been rude like that. This is why I stay out of St Louis. Too many rude black people have all but destroyed St. Louis. I'm embarrassed towards all who visit St. Louis and have to deal with "people" like her. She should not be working with the public. If I was her supervisor I would have fire her for that.
Robert Hunt: I didn't plan on spending three nights in a hospital but.... things happened. Fortunately, the staff at SLU -from the ER to the ICU and finally to a non-emergency room - is amazing and I'm fortunate to have met them, received their kind assistance and spoken to their warm and considerate doctors. I am grateful to everyone there who listened to my silly questions (and gave sensible answers), responded to my trivial requests and helped me to receive sorely (and suddenly) needed medical treatment and find answers to problems that had been troubling me for months.
Joanna Wheeler: Thank you for the excellent care my son received in March, 2023. He was admitted to the ICU through the ER. The medical treatment and the support of our family were outstanding.
Melissa Slonski: I went last night via ambulance and the initial care was awesome and quick. But after they ran all the test they left me in a room for about 4 hours with no answers and I had to yell to get someone to get me up to go to the bathroom. EVERY RN was very rude. No one asked me if I was doing ok or if I needed anything the whole time I was there. I NEVER saw a Dr after my initial testing. I was given some paperwork and discharged with no explanation of anything. The only person that was nice to me was the lady doing my MRI.I would not go to this hospital again if I was dead.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital: what do users think?
Suzanne Chisum: I was taken by ambulance to the Emergency Department at Barnes Jewish in the early morning hours. I was treated with dignity and respect by the staff. I was made as comfortable as possible.I was sent to the third floor observation area for 48 hours. To my great surprise, there were only three walls and a curtain in my room or cubicle. On the fourth side was a curtain.I was impressed at the amount of privacy that the curtain provided. I felt reassured knowing that nurses were only footsteps away if I should call out to them.I had an outstanding hospitalizationist, Stephanie Solias , MD. She took time to look over and review my tests from this visit as well as previous records on file with BJC. She even made a return visit to see me to discuss my treatment. Physicians were responsive to the phone calls that my nurses made on my behalf weather it was 1 in the morning or 1 in the afternoon. Even on a Saturday of a holiday care, I received physical therapy and a visit from a physician. Unheard of in my hospital stay experience. My nurse were outstanding also. Nordic and Kristabell are just two of the names of those who provided outstanding care. The food was good, which is always a pleasant surprise. Fresh and flavorful and the kitchen was responsive to the one time I called down with a specific request.Overall a positive experience in a difficult time for me and my family.
Krista Scott: Our family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the doctors and nurses on the 14th floor and particularly in the ICU. Although my brother passed away (not due to anything they could prevent), every single one of them treated him and our family with the utmost compassion and support. Barnes and it’s team are top-notch and highly recommended should you or a loved one require their expertise.
Elwood Blues: This hospital had two security guards employed who beat up a kidney transplant patient without provocation. I advise against seeking health care here if you are absent minded as they do not seem to know how to be neither civil, polite or capable of security. As a reminder to the two individual security guards involved it would be prudent for you both to attend anger management courses as it appears you both sorely need it. After said completion we can then talk about redemption if you're interested. His daughter deserves closure. Do the right thing.
Dennis Martinez: You beat a black patient up because he was looking for his car in the garage. Absolutely disgusting
Cathy Scanlon: I was so fortunate to be able to spend a couple of days here training on the use of equipment for placing post-pyloric feeding tubes.I traveled there for that purpose because I was trying to convince the hospital I worked in that we should be doing the same thing, so I wanted to observe, gather data, and go back to my major medical center and present my findings.Sadly nothing changed. But I never forgot how great I thought it was there or how many smart and great people agreed with me!

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - St. Louis: what do users think?
Ernestine Lee: One of the worst emergency department I ever visited was there waiting for 7 hours for my broken ankle and that was in the waiting room got there at 7pm didn't get out of there till 3am
firbaer1234: It is a shame I could not give a MINUS 1 MILLION STARS. Rudest nurses EVVVVVVVER. Never again will i go there.
Kandy: ⚠️🚨🚩Maternity abuse happens here regularly. Please avoid giving birth here ladies as your concerns will not be taken seriously.🚩🚩🚩🚩🛑🛑🛑🛑✋️✋️✋️✋️
Chaeya Robles: Called to see about my 91yo father who was taken there to the ER. I'm in another state and was worried and just wanted to speak with the doctor about what was going on and to see if they could also contact me. They put me in touch with the nurse who sort of chuckled and said he didn't have time to tell me anything going on with my father and there were already a "number" of family members in the room already. My dad's partner was the only person in the room, her son had dropped her off. Then he hung up before I could say anything else. I've been a nurse before and I would have never treated a patient's family the way I was treated and yes, I've been busy before to where I didn't even have time to eat lunch, but I was never rude to people. I really worry about their quality of care if they have people who just are too nasty and burned out from doing their jobs.
Clay Babin: My friend ended up here, which seems like a good thing so far. When I've been there to visit him, the staff has been right on top of everything. They gave me good info on my buddy's status.
Charles Gene: The staff make this hospital goodBut the wait time was the most I’ve had since moving to STL (I also feel like that was my bad because it was a Monday)I was taken by ambulance for assumed gallstonesI appreciate Abigail, Ana, and Stephanie
anna moruzzi: If i could give a zero star i would don't go here unless you want to die i was in for 4 1/2 days no liquids no iv i was so dehydrated it took me a week doing liquids at home also if they say surgery on gallbladder run don't walk I'm doing much better after i came home home remedies work gullstones are gone and i still have my gallbladder
Gina Sigillito: I cannot thank the staff at St. Mary’s enough. We had an emergency with my mom on Wednesday night and they were amazing, from the paramedics to the ER doctor and nurse and the hospital staff. They took such good care of her and helped allay our fears. I can’t thank you enough for the care you gave my mother and our entire family.
Queenie Bryant: Great Hospital. Friendly, Caring, Staff, With Amazing Bedside Manner. I Was Treated Very Well During My Stay There.
Suzanne Bohmer: My mom just got out of st Mary's Psych Department and all I can say is that everyone was Wonderful. The care was superior, Johnnie Gwen and Ryan were our favorites, I'm sure there are others but those are the names that I remember. My mom Loved the food!!
Meaghan Haneline: I was transported by ambulance from the De Paul location for chronic hypertension and pre-eclampsia with severe features in my pregnancy. I, and my baby, had to be monitored closely. My experience overall besides 2-3 nurses I had was great. They were nice, always asked me if I needed anything, they were on top of my care before, during, and after my delivery. It was a scary time at the end, but having great nurses made me feel better. The only complaint I would have is the cafeteria. I've never known for a cafeteria at a big hospital to have set hours. During the week, it's from 6:30a to 6:30p and on the weekend, it's from 6:30a to 2p. You would think it would remain open until the late evening. Selections were always minimal. The hospital has 6 floors that have 3 or 4 vending machines, but instead of having one on each floor, they have them in one area on the first floor by the cafeteria. The credit card machine on the vending machine didn't work. It would be nice if they had a vending machine on each floor. Besides the cafeteria, I'm happy I delivered at this hospital.
Mz Dee: SpongeBob is very unhappy. She went to take my Blood She put the rubber band as tight as she could on my arm. Then she began to answer her phone, talking to another staff member she’s evil she need to use our dental insurance. She need to get some lipo bad her breath smells like Dookie she works in the ER.
Nayah Velasquez: Waited over 12 hrs to get my foot checked after impaling my foot with 2 HUGE, rusty nails at work. Got there at about 730 pm 3/25/23 and didn't leave until about 9-10 a.m. the next morning of 3/26/23. They didn't check on anyone just kinda (well, the ppl in front didn't...there was an angel/saint of a nurse that kept checking on me bc my temperature kept spiking and she was worried I had a fever bc of the rusty nails that was removed from my foot. Other than the nurses I met when I FINALLY got to the back last triage. They were AWESOME and apologized for the extended wait and the rudeness of the registration lady that left from the shift before. So, it kinda made up for it but still. Really, REALLYYYYYYYY long wait time...like longer than usual. BUT! Very awesome, nice, great nurses with great bedside manner.
Stacey Hammelman: Took my mom to get an echo, got valet , the out patient was swamped because the medical building didn’t have a technician so , they told everyone to schedule at the hospital, so the wait was longer because of that , the employees don’t wear masks I don’t care if masks were lifted or not, medical personnel know Covid is still a thing for immune compromised right! Then I went to go home the valet left at 2:30 he had no one to relieve him, front desk said go to security they would get my car, all they did was hand me my keys and said where it was parked, I’m disabled so walking is hard , my mom is 93 and she gets out of breath, by the time I got to the car the security guards were going home, which was maybe 5 mins or more after I left them. I’m glad I didn’t have to pay for parking though, but what is going on with this hospital!
Kristina A: I wish i could put 0 stars. The nurses in the ECT department are completely negligent. I wasnt able to breathe while under anesthesia and was told that the nurse had to walk away.*I emailed you guys immediately and I never got a reply. I guess your comment was for show only.*I've continued to call for 9 months and have tried multiple numbers and no one will call me back.
Chill Trap King: Dr. Faisal Sakeen is an excellent dr. And I recommend him to everyone I know!
Galaxy Angel: My name is Shaina Wesley I was admitted from depaul Monday 2/27/23 after noon the nurse Angie and this other nurse was nice but ik the medical staff to me ask me how my care is how I doing but brushing off problems and the food here is very limited so u going to be hungry alot I barely got to eat while I was here ....I'm 28 weeks pregnant I understand ur understaff but I don't like when my health is being pushed aside or my food being chosen for me . The charge nurse and the night nurse knows I said no IV in my hands and all I got was we get the the veins that is visible..... No respect for patients at all nor their wishes
Toscha Jeffries: My significant other arrived at st mary's emergency room at noon. He was called 6 times for different stages of admission, he didn't get discharge until 8 the waiting time is horrible to many steps to be seen and discharge!
Maureen Burkhardt: Could not understand accents of many nurses. Bad food and often no choice is selection. Filthy dirty, floor was swept and mopped only one day out of eight. Trash not emptied. This hospital has become a dump.
Roger Bailey: My visit was a nightmare. I will never be in this hospital again. Shabby at best. Stay away from here.
Cocoa Monroe: We took my mom to the ER at 11:00am we were not called in the back to the room until after 11:30 pm. They said they were helping sicker patients first. Mind me we came in because mom couldn't breathe & walk ( seemed imp to me) As we waited I witnessed a man fall out of his chair. Once mom was admitted the communication between the staff was horrible. They were under staffed it seemed. We were there day & night. We even took turns staying over. We were not leaving our mama alone. The time we did, ( twice) BS occurred...She was switched from one floor to another after about 2 weeks & the night staff on 2 are the absolute worst. Ronald on 4 was an awesome tech. He cleaned my mom up after a BM while the nurse looked & avoided getting BM on her gloves. So I stepped in & helped.

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital: what do users think?
Trinity Dudas: The phone operators are rude. They do not care what you or a loved one is going throught and they make it very clear that they do not.
ruben rascon: Friendly greeter, no wait, very clean
R Devereux: Clean and helpful
sherlock jones: Had to sit in the hall way with patients taking up rooms waiting to go to other hospitals! My time is not valuable! Always some mistake! Today travel nurse did not draw labs in right tube
S: Go to ANY other hospital not owned by BJC or Washington University. This place is an absolute abomination to healthcare, the level of stupidity and incompetence knows no bounds. They commit Medicaid fraud and charge absorbent amounts when they don't actually do anything. Its seriously a complete joke and they are stealing no telling what in tax payer money. My partner has been told by his Barnes doctors to go to the ER 4 different times and they send him home without any care or treatment. They have zero record of any of this between them, it's extremely disorganized. This place needs to be shut down and investigated before they cause further abuse and neglect to their patients. Not sure if they are using outdated, fake, paid for, or exaggerated ratings that make them appear better than others in the area, our experience has been quite the opposite.I am having them investigated and doing everything in my power to deter people from going to anything related to this hospital, I will not rest until they either are held accountable or shut down. If anyone else has had issues I'd love to connect and we can bring them down together!
Moyyah Simmons: Horrible! After waiting 5 hours to be seen, you still may not be seen, especially if your black! After looking around it’s mighty strange the only people left waiting are black! Please go to any other place but this one!
donna jordan: I just had a total knee replacement and every step along the way was excellent. From registration, lab test, nurses and all my doctor's were professional and I felt I was in great hands.BJC West is amazing hospital.
MIMI LAMBO: 12/20 I took my fiance to the ER all I can say is that they were great the ER doctor he was so helpful and I could tell that he is there to do his job and loves his job my fiance was pail from losing to much blood thru her menstrual and he THE ER DOCTOR was upset that her own doctor hadn't done anything about it .... The nurses were also great it was like a tag team event lol how they were making sure that that she was good I was thankful for the care that she received there I didn't have to deal with racism she got great care and he even recommend that she come back to that ER if she have any more problems .
Ddee Tatu: Dr apt
Andrea Williams: I took my son to emergency room 12/18/22 for numbness in legs and chest pain. The nurse didn’t offer to wheel him out upon completion although he was weak. I over heard staff offering this service to other patients. When I asked, she advised I could do it. She was very rude and walked away during conversation. Horrible customer service and experience. I will never return to this hospital.
Carol Eckstein: Waited 5 hours in a very crowded waiting room, felt sick but was getting ready to leave when a nurse called my name to come back. Sat in a chair in the hallway for another couple of hours when the Doctor came over told me all my tests were normal and to follow up with my primary care doctor. I was about to ask a question but he had already dismissed me and walked away. I was left in shock. This has never happened to me before. Needless to say, I feel like I have been receiving poor service with BJG doctors, including my PCP. I never had this problem with SSM doctors. Maybe Barnes is rated higher but SSM doctors has much better bedside matters.
Quinn: Brought my husband in to ER for excruciating muscle spasms in his lower back that caused his entire body to lock up stiff, and just double over to the floor. As a athletic and healthy man, this was shocking, so I knew going to ER was best course of action. When we were given a “cubicle with a curtain” in the ER, they said they had no beds, and gave him a chair. Then they disappeared. Meanwhile, he’s in writhing pain, and wound up laid across the chair with his neck bent in a awkward position and head resting on the plastic arm rest. No offer to help him be more comfortable, no offer of heating pad, blanket, water, nothing. A radiology person comes to take him for an X-ray. This is when it took a turn for the worst. We kept politely telling them that he couldn’t walk, couldn’t even lift himself from the chair. We asked for help to get him out of the chair, and they just kept standing there looking at him, saying, if you don’t want it that’s fine. Meanwhile, there’s a large male nurse standing there like a lump on a log, offering zero assistance. It was truly shocking! I’m watching my husband struggle to get up, while 3 nurses stood there gawking like they could care less. I finally spoke up, but always calmly, and the nurse that talks to patients like there kindergarteners, snaps at me, saying I’ve already said he can’t move, they get it. No, you obviously don’t. He’s not a big guy. 5’9 185 pounds. One could have offered him 1 arm on one side, and another on his other side. It’s not that complicated. Or move out of the way and let me. I get the number to the supervisor, and call her. She’s very professional and kind. She even came down to talk to us live. After that, we were given a new nurse, and viola! Water, heating pads, medicine, blanket, and blood work! Look at that! Then, I hear the nurse talking to another patient about me! She actually called me a jerk. Why? Because I was advocating for my husband? You would do the same thing. If you have no compassion, if you’re not a nurturing person, you are in the WRONG profession. Very disappointing. I always support nurses, as my mom retired from being a nurse for 40 years. She was one of the good ones.
Travis Sherwood: In the early morning on 10/30/2022, I went to the Emergency Department because I kept having a 103+ fever. Got diagnosed as covid, with high blood pressure and heart rate (150ish). Was given a prescription for Paxlovid. Less than 24 hours later, I'm back in the ER and the Triage nurses recognize me. My throat is swelling, I'm gasping for air, can't swallow and my chest hurts. All signs of an allergic reaction to Paxlovid (well documented too). The ER doctor, an Asian gentleman told me that nothing's wrong and it's just covid, basically calling me a liar right to my face. I've been vaccinated, had Covid twice before, and anaphylaxis sure wasn't a symptom. Now I'm afraid to take anything for fear of being ignored again.
Kathy Gonsalves: I would never recommend this hospital to anyone! My late husband was taken there by ambulance after a fall. He had stage lV cancer and was tremendous pain, at home he was taking oxycodone for his pain yet the hospital was only giving him tylenol. I had to actually get upset before anyone would listen to me. I ended up staying at the hospital with my husband for six days due to their lack of care. He couldn't move his arms or legs due to the fall, they said he wasn't eating. No kidding they would put his food in front of him and walk out, he couldn't feed himself. There were two nurses that were doing their job the rest of the staff needs to find a new career
Amy Stroder: Wonderful staff.
Christina N: Had a procedure with anesthetic there. The recovery staff rushed me out of the recovery room. She kept waking me and telling me to get dressed. Obviously I am still sedated as I could barely sit up. They rushed me by wheelchair to my ride waiting at the door, I couldn't stand without holding the car and almost fell over. I had to tell my ride to pull over so I could fully come out of sedation as the movement was making me sick. Very dangerous to release someone still under anesthetic.
John Adams: Pathetic! Out-patient surgery scheduled and cancelled. They have little to no consideration for the patient. The surgery was a follow-up to a procedure Barnes had already started. Now, they've cancelled.
Stephen “InStrumenTaL” King: When you come in complaining of chest pains and elevated chest pains, most facilities will tend to you right away, so no issues there. However I've been here over 12 hours now waiting to be transferred to another hospital that has a bed because there's no real cardio help her even though the website for this facility states otherwise. I only came here because my PCP is in the BJC network.
Sydney Burns: Came in on a domestic situation, they were not understanding or comforting at all, they claim they don’t have social workers. After telling the doctor several times that my back was in excruciating pain and I needed an X-ray because of injury to back, he only ordered a vision test, and a CT scan for my head. None of them listened to me at all. Nurse didn’t even check on me.
Christine Peters-Tynes: Hospital security Beat a kidney patient for looking for his car, hospital his the videos, police and security have not apologized. No transplant for him and he died. I rather die at home
Bill Kenkel: Very nice staff. Very efficient.
