Sandra S: Gastroenterologists seem confused on how the VA system works, also you keep seeing different staff and keep getting a different plan on treatment, or recommendations, without any orders getting put into the system. The GI Lab nurses are helpful and caring.The Women’s Health mammogram/ultrasound needs to be improved, they need to hire more breast imaging specialized radiologists, I shouldn’t be asked totally inappropriate questions by male radiologists.I hope this new director will bring improvements to the STL VA system, but I’m not holding my breath.

Johnny Gahan: I’ve been to quite a few VA’s and this one takes the award for being the laziest at doing their jobs. You can not get the call center to answer their phones, Then you call the operator at the facility and she has an attitude about doing her job. They like to schedule you appointments with no letter, call, or email and then say you no showed when you have absolutely no idea about the appointment, or you cancel/reschedule it and they never do it and you become a no show. Then we go to the doctors, the first one I had was absolutely useless, she wouldn’t screen anything because of “age” and “you’re in shape” and “white people problems” (her exact words) and if you were to go in with a broken leg she’d argue with you to why she wouldn’t want to do anything to confirm. It took over a year to get a new doctor even with proof of all that. The new doctor does his job but once you leave him, your treatment goes nowhere because you can’t get ahold of anyone. It’s such a great place to be seen..

Matt Higgins: They have saved my life several times and continue to provide excellent service to veterans. A much improved hospital that keeps growing and expanding.

ROBIN MASON: Great place for treatment of our deserving veterans and active duty servicemembers. The system is the system so deal with it, we can't fight it but some gotta have it.

Arbitrary Category: Unfortunately there are a few divisions within the VA hospital locations - STL and JB that are sub-par. One is Chiropractic. They spend more time fighting VETERANS to keep them from getting appointments or care. It is very sad that get away w/ not providing any care to VETERANS. In 2002, President George Bush signed Public Law 107-135, which guarantees chiropractic treatment for all eligible VA patients. However, many veterans do not know this service is available to them, even though it has been included in their Medical Benefits Package since 2004. Next is the Primary Care - they have over 1000 Veterans per doctor. Do not even need to expand further with those numbers. Now each Doctor in Primary care has glorified secretary / case manager that is "SUPPOSED" to help VETERANS. Now some of these case managers at JB are very helpful and will actually return your calls in a timely manner. And others it takes them days to return calls. Yeah! We are all busy, but in the civilian world 99% of doctors office call THEIR patience back in less than a couple of hours or they actually answer their phones. Some of these Doctors and Case Managers should be ashamed of their poor attitudes and lazy work ethic - especially at the JB primary care building. There are few divisions within the VA that are excellent - VISION department is outstanding.

Don Crumley (Don): If I could give zero stars I would, I visited today with my elderly and very fragile father for an appointment and I was greeted horribly by check in.. She (Brittany, I believe)was so rude explaining her reasons of why I can't come in with him, although I'm already registered as my father's caretaker with his Doctors and take him often. (No high temperature at check in, fully vaccinated) Not only that, I'm a registered Veteran and helping another Veteran is an honor, period. Then as I was leaving, I went to the closest latrine I could find and when I came out I was greeted by security and police and told I could be charged as trespassing for not leaving!!! So, had to wait in my car for an hour plus and was on hold for the whole hour trying to place a complaint against the organization... why does noone ever answer phones here!!..ugh.. The VA needs to get their life together..

Robert Vincent: I stayed here for 5 days in June with coronavirus. The doctors and nurses were very helpful. I had a nice comfortable stay there and im really grateful for my recovery and the hardworking ladies in those space suits.I went back this past Friday with an infection in my leg. Turned out to be cellulitis. The lovely Dr. Mary Yu took care of me. She was very nice, personable, intelligent, and she was very gentle. She's also very beautiful. Thank you Dr. Yu!

Kevin Childers: Contrary to the popular press, I've always received top quality healthcare in a timely manner at John Cochran, and the Washington St. Clinic. Jefferson Barracks as well, though it's a bit of a trip on public transit. The shuttle service is a blessing and does provide curd-to-curb see service to all 4 (not to forget Hope Recovery Center) of the VA healthcare facilities in St. Louis City & County.

Vivian Howell: The people in the cardiovascular department should have a caring heart to work in that department. However, this was not my experience.

Eric Mier: I was in so much pain when I arrived and they immediately moved me to the er and took great care of me. All the doctors and nurses were very nice and actually cared about me.

Elizabeth Pugh: My husband had surgery for his heart May 29. 2019. All staff were 90% friendly. I stayed at the Fishers House during his overnight stay. I can't say anything bad about this place. The only thing I saw was it outdated, but thanks to our government, it seems most all Veterans hospital is outdated. Our veterans are very important and risk their lives for our Country but I'm glad to see that they are taking their health in corncern.

Ekimcom: This is a great hospital for both medical and behavioral health needs. It is very clean and has great staff in all aspects; caring, professional and caring. Not sure why some people write bad reviews. All I can say is South City deserves a lot of credit.

maycee hogan: I’ve been to many different hospitals and urgent cares and HAVE NEVER received the care and human decency like I have at this hospital. Low wait time. Staff that actually care and want to help you, especially Aida from RN for medical & surgical. She made me feel safe and made sure I knew she would be by my side until I felt better. Every doctor, every nurse, every employee was kind, patient, knowledgeable, helpful and gave their very best effort into helping me heal on more than just a physical level. As soon as I got to the ER nurses Paige and Stacey went absolutely above and beyond for my health, my mind and overall well being. And also the level of diversity is Soo badass. The staff don't hide their individuality to appear professional. They show who they are with their tats, hair etc while being professional and I just feel that they are what health care truly is about. Not once did I feel like a burden or judged. These people are the best and whoever doesn't like this review is a stone cold hater. Thanks for saving me guys in more ways than the average hospital even cares to do

Heather Marie: TERRIBLE!!!!!!!! My boyfriend and I came into south city hospital yesterday evening after being involved in a severe car accident. We both were not put in trauma after the hospital was well aware that we both passed out at the scene after hitting our heads. And after i passed out and went into a seizure. They had us in the ER for 7 hours and four of those was waiting for a doctor to come in. We could have passed out again or something worse. They should have done something more then just a CT scan and also should have kept both of us over night. I just really don't ever plan to go to this hospital ever again and i recommend that no one else does either. Also they treat their patients very poorly. I honestly can say that the only two things i seen good at my visit was how polite one lady was at registration and one nurse was towards my discharge other then that there is nothing else good about this place.

Traci Musgrove: People are so rude in the ER.I had to beg for a blanket. I asked for 2 and the nurse told me no! The ER was 40*! Half the time no dr. No one said in 2 days. How are you feeling? Can I get you anything? Are you hungry or want something to drink? They just passed me up! I didn’t even get my regular medicine for 2 days. I was having mental health issues! Put me in the hall for 2 days.I’m traumatized!! No snacks! I was so hungry. I was sick! Phy ward was a joke. They didn’t help me at all! I wouldn’t take my dog there. Everyone is Rude and I never seen people being treated that way. People yelling at each other. Screaming on the phone. Nurses or technicians do nothing about it. Never again. I was a nervous wreck the whole time! I still have bad dreams! Don’t ever go there. I got covid from there!!

Ashhy Bonee: This hospital crew was very incompetent. nursing staff and Doctors alike. Horrible pct staff who refused to service my minor needs such as a blanket when asked. I was put in a very cold room with no temperature control. I had fluid overload symptoms from to much normal saline and the RN didn't know what to do. Also when asking for a physician there was never one and i had to wait an entire 24 hours before getting answers. I was there for 3 days

As my little sister is convolting and foaming from the mouth, the doctor asked me if she was having a seizure.Im like I work in fast food not the medical field you tell me. Christina Saali: This place had my information stolen and sent me a letter saying someone got hold of my hospital records and personal records. When I was there it was very odd took me to the back nobody in rest of the hospital but the ER lights off and very odd.

Jennifer Ramer-Corriveau: 1st when being taken by ambulance, we weren't given a choice where to go. Then get there I was sent in through main emergency door to desk while my mom was taken in the other way on stretcher. They acted like I was trying to hijack the place when I asked to use the restroom, took forever to make them realize I was a patient too and came in on the ambulance also. They admitted my mom but sent me home the next day. They knew I was sick. 2 days later my son drove me to another hospital where I got proper care cause I was on the verge of being dead and was sent straight to ICU. Now to make matters even better, I have given them insurance info for both my mom and myself. We ended up being billed cause they claim they didn't get any insurance information from us. Worst hospital in St. Louis avoid it at all cost. Go somewhere else if you want to live.

C Pope: Positive reviews got replies and thanks. The negative reviews were ignored. I would say that pretty much sums this place up in a nutshell. Ownership changed, most/many staff did not. Physicians did not. The docs, other than a few hospitalists, are by-and-large, misfits who would have a difficult time credentialing elsewhere. I wish them all the best but expect it will be an uphill battle to overcome their deeply entrenched shoddy reputation in our community.

I was not impressed with the evening shift nurse. ( I don't remember his name) He totally dismissed my son's request for something for pain. I had to ask 2 different doctors if my son could have some tylenol or ibuprofen.I do love this hospital. The night shift nurse is my only complaint.

Kara Smith: My son started going to this hospital for brain cancer when he was 15, every single staff member from Doctor to housekeeper both surgical stays that we have been there were amazing every single time we visit for an MRI every single person is amazing they're understanding they treat my son like an adult like it's his cancer because it is to talk to him they discuss it with me too but they know it's his choice and they're okay with that and that's one of the best things that I can think of when it comes to living a life with cancer. And being a parent of a child with cancer I could never ask for better people to take care of my son whether it's cleaning the room bringing him food or just his overall care the team at St Louis children's hospital is the best that there's ever been. If you have a sick kid I I would take them here.

If you assert your right to leave, they call CPS on you. The doctor I saw used false imprisonment and should be prosecuted.

Benjamin 123: We quit using this hospital years ago because of all the issues. Our doctor sent us there to the ER. Visit was fine till we got discharged. We have NEVER had a visit without some sort of issue! We were left scrambling with minutes to get a prescription transfered from their pharmacy to ours before their pharmacy closed and he would be without the meds he needed. Called to talk to the doctors who treated him for help and was sent to voicmail. NEVER trust health care.

mattymat1219: I would not be here today if it wasn't for the trauma team! I was just passing through on the highway driving and decided to get gas, apparently I was in St Louis. I ended up getting carjacked and run over two times on January 4th 2021! I had seven surgeries when I arrived in the er, John Doe for the first 5 days and I was in a coma for the first 3 weeks, 2 more surgeries when I got back home to Ma. Multiple screws and plates in my body now. If it wasn't for the excellent medical care I received. I have very few limitations and I am also back to work full time. Hospitalized for 4 months in St Louis, got back to Massachusetts on May 9th 2021, was out of work until November of 2021! Thank you and God bless this trauma team and staff

The Case manager, or social worker, and doctors, have not contacted me at all the last few days of his admittance.I am his primary contact and is POA and AD and have not been contacted.It's frustrating that as the person to be notified, I'm not.I have not been given updates from the family member who was there because they refuse to give me any information.

Ricky Kodner: Worst ER I have ever had the displeasure to be in. We have been in the ER for 6 hours and still have not seen a doctor. One could die in one of these rooms, and I don't think they would notice.

I have to say that we were extremely impressed with every staff member from the housekeeping crew, to the meal delivery crew, and every single member of the doctor and nursing staff. Everyone there was compassionate, informative, and 5- star helpful. Simply amazing

Dennis Stone: Horrible two day experience with trying to schedule a procedure at a BJC Hospital, actually tried multiple hospitals. First call to BJC main number, the individual was not aware of "Central Scheduling." I asked to be transfered to BJC St Peters. I was transferred to an "clinic unaffiliated" with BJC. Central scheduling staff is poorly trained and unaware of what hospitals do what procedures. Gave up, called my Doctor's office, they had it scheduled at DePaul Hospital in 10 minutes.

Leslie Martinez: Rude!!!!!! Nurses are horrible yeah I get they are short staffed, but that doesn’t mean that they treat their current patients like they don’t matter. They were supposed to bring me my insulin with my breakfast instead I didn’t get it at all. I went to eat my lunch. They took my tray away because my blood sugar was high and they blamed it on me. I have bad veins, and instead of numbing me to find them, they chose to dig in my arms and hands. They act like they do not know what they’re doing.

C L: Do not go to this hospital unless you have a death wish!! Negligent doctors won't even bother trying to read or comprehend your medical history or test results before they perform a heart surgery that will kill you. When called out on their negligence they gaslight family members and continue to lie. Incompetent and cold-hearted nurses would rather ignore call buttons to sit around and chat about TV shows while their patients have oxygen levels below 80% and a pain level of 10/10 post surgery. They only got up off their butts after a trained nurse family member came to visit and made them aware they were allowing their patient to die. They must have really great malpractice insurance to still be in business!!!

Laura Ira: While it is a great hospital, I disagree with the mutilation of children and Transgendering them. I consider this as abuse. I will not seek care from a place that abuses and mutilates children before they are old enough to deside for themselves. Once Trans always on pharma. If 18 is the legal time to vote. 16 to drive. 21 to drink why oh why transgender the children.

Jennifer Mancuso: I'd like to give a shout out to the South campus information desk employees. I sat there for a bit on my computer and listen to their interactions. It truly made my day ❤️. They were beyond helpful to the public, and very positive and upbeat.

Jessica Welker: The doctors & nurses do not call or return calls about my mom. She’s stage 4 cancer and I have to find out everything going on with her through her. What if she can’t call me?? There has been several days that go by her phone is dead so I’m just Very upset. Other than that they are doing great with her.

Tia Barkley: Really enjoyed all medical care that I had done here. The hospital is clean and everyone I came in contact with staff wise was very friendly and helpful. The quick response on Mychart really makes me feel comfortable when I am at home.

Roy Kidd: They took exceptional for my before during and after her surgery. They made sure everything was good before we left. Then when we got home some of the surgery stave called to check her. That empresed me.

Forgotten Missouri: I was in for 7 days dr. Pipcorn and all the nurses that took care of me are outstanding.
