Matthew Branham: The contractor team that installed our battery system was as good of a pair of contractors as one could hope: they were communicative, responsive to our needs, kind, great at their jobs, and cleaned up well afterward. On the downside, we had a lengthy delay between when we contracted the project and when it was installed and communication during that delay left much to be desired. Down the stretch though, that issue improved and you could tell this is a company that values you as a customer.

Mary Asher: We were referred to Drew Mueller with StraightUp Solar from a professional colleague of his. I sent Drew a few photos of our home and electric panel along with our recent Ameren bills. We scheduled a Zoom call to review our proposal based on our existing electric usage. The video call was very low pressure and casual. We got a lot of information about the company and a breakdown of the costs to have the solar panels installed in an easy to navigate PDF. We reviewed financing options and the estimated amounts of the refunds we would receive from Ameren, the federal government on our taxes, and from the local Grow Solar St. Louis program.We completed a virtual call with MREA for the Grow Solar St. Louis program. Each year, based on the number of people that sign up for solar in the St. Louis area, a portion of our price comes back to us, starting at about .5% increasing with each person added. It was a great program and video to watch as it answered some of our questions about the process in a little more depth.We were provided log in information for the Bodhi assistant. It was an easy way to check on the status of the permits, ordering of materials, and install. We were also able to communicate directly with Charles the lead project manager.On the day of install, it was raining, so the team spent time inside adding another electric panel in the basement and otherwise upgrading the electricity. The next day, the team came back and completed the roof work. Altogether, it took less than 8 hours for the team to complete the install. The on-site crew leader had a checklist to review with us to make sure everything was completed properly and all our questions were addressed.Ameren installed our new meter in a mater of days and we were able to turn on the unit. Ever since, we have access to the Enlighten app to check on our solar production hourly/daily and compare it to prior days/weeks. Our first bill was only $12! I can't wait to see how much money we can save, while also doing something for the environment.

Their partner, Mid-America Electric did an excellent job updating our breaker box ahead of the install and the installation crew was friendly and professional over the two day installation.It's been great to know we are offsetting a significant percentage of our home and EV's consumption. The short-term/long-term loan package is a nice alternative to paying for the array upfront. If you have the means to do so, this is a great way to take a stand against against climate change.

(as of 3/14/23)• After signing the contract on August 10th, I hear little (even after reaching out) until I come home 1 day to 3 large boxes on pallets set in the middle of my driveway with no notification of delivery• I’m not involved in any way with the design even though I was told I would be• The install occurs the day before my planned vacation even with Helio made aware 4+ weeks out• Installation complete in the same day with little issues outside of cigarette butts and bits of electrical trash around my yard/patio• This begins the 3 months of run around from Helio on when the inspection is going to occur• Finally notified the inspector is coming on 2/21 and we fail within 10 minutes of him being here• Inspector explained that we failed for a reason he’s personally explained to Helio multiple times• I call my very dismissive Helio rep, Debbie, in order to get an update on when the repair and reinspection will occur• Instead I’m met with an explanation from her on what I already told her about the inspection that ended with “so what do you want?” How about a plan Debbie?It should be noted that I made my first payment for these solar panels on the 1st of March. Solar panels that are not operational or currently giving me any benefit to warrant a payment for. I signed the contract on August 10th, and I have been so incredibly patient throughout this whole process. I cannot believe the amount of disorganization within Helio. Nobody seems to know what’s going on and all I really want is to just have the panels online. I’m in absolute shock that a single company can drop the ball THIS many times on one customer.

It has been 6 months since my initial purchase of the solar panels, and they are still not operational. They promised money within 30 days of final installation, it has been over 3 months. I finally got in touch with Ameren and Ameren has been waiting for images of placards for over 2 months. The placards btw Helio sent by mail and expected me to attach them and send them pictures, instead of sending one of their employees. Nothing but frustration and excuses from this company.Update:. I haved moved my rating up to a 3. The only reason for this is one of the owners, Rob, reached out to me and worked on the situation. While I am not satisfied with the speed of the installations and the issues that occureed, the actions by Rob, do show the standards he believes in and wants to run his company by. We are still working to resolve the issues but if everything goes as planned, I will be moving the rating up again.

MARTIN HALL: Just had a meeting with Juan Lozano (CEO of Helio Solar Power, LLC), and Diego Alvarado (Director of Construction, Helio Solar Power, LLC), and these guys know their stuff, and know how to explain the "Solar System" for the best customer experience possible. The initial solar company that went with, pretty much "ghosted" me, after I signed the contract, but fortunately, I had Helio Solar as a sub-contractor to the "Facebook ad" main company that I went through. I highly recommend dealing with Helio Solar from the start of your project; not as the sub-contractor! Their company, can do it all, and their employees under the direction of Juan and Diego, will get you a system that operates at the highest efficiency, and will not "ghost you" after the installation is completed. Helio Solar Power outshines the three other solar companies ("Facebook" initial, and two other sub-contractors) that I had to deal with during my solar installation, and now, through its continual operation. God bless you guys! Nice to have honest, good companies and workers out there!
