Well, I did.. but I assumed the popular ones had to be the tastiest, right? Well that was an incredibly inaccurate assumption.Just go to the shop (or find them at thebSoulsrd Farmer's Market) and speak to Mike or Julia - they have mushrooms that are the perfect replacement for fish in dishes - Baja Mushroom Tacos are a favorite in this house. And during the holiday season, my green bean casserole is now half mushrooms thanks to VL's and everyone says it's the best!
Kathleen Collins: Met Mike at the market a few years back...And I am Grateful. Being a forager I was taken in by new strains of fungi.....Lions mane is my favorite followed closely by chestnuts, and more medicinal fungi reishi chaga . .Love the different flavors to savor creating different dishes. The health benefits are pretty cool too...Stop in check out the shop and grow room...You won't be disappointed 🍄🍄❤

Lisa Geissert: This is the place to go for all things mushrooms. There is a lot to look at inside. Check out the boxes of exotic mushrooms they sell in different sizes, you'll see see ones you've never seen before. There is also a big variety of sprouts that are super fresh and healthy looking. The people are fun to talk to and know their product! This is a really neat store.

Even letting me sample the coffee (which they have fresh brewed for purchase!) And a new variety of microgreens I'd not had before.They have a great and expanding variety of food with grocery store basics (like milk and eggs) and ready to eat snacks.I was hesitant at first, but their mushroom-infused coffee is so cool! (PS it doesn't taste like mushrooms at all, just coffee) I also smashed a delightful cinnamon roll roughly the size of my face. I meant to just eat half... It was too good.I can't wait to go back and see what they add to the shelves next!

Shawn Bates: Everyone in the store was so cordial and helpful. The main grower guy even took the time to explain the entire process of their grow kits and how he prepares and grows their in store stock. He even answered a question by another customer about a mushroom they don't offer and he explained it in detail. This shop knows their shrooms. Loved it and they tasted so delicious and clean

Carondelet Kitchen: What a hidden gem is this urban nursery in the CWE? Beautiful plants, lovely gift shop and a gorgeous bistro by restaurateur Niche. Great selection of annuals, perennials, vegetables and herbs as well as trees and shrubs. A place we return to often.

Gennie Palmer: Dined on April 4th. I enjoyed the decor and ambiance of Bowood. The windows are beautiful and the attached plant nursery and farm across the street make this a very unique location in STL. The dinner service, quality of the food, and the drinks were all above average. I had high expectations as it is owned by Niche and my expectations were mostly met. The staff were very polite and attentive. However, the waiter we had might have been training and he was not as knowledgeable about the wine list as he should have been. He could not make a recommendation for wine with my meal & he seemed nervous because of it. Also, when I asked about Bowood Farm and the sourcing of different ingredients he was not able to speak about it much. He did say in general Bowood sources as much as they can from their farm and try to keep any outsourcing of other ingredients local. I think maybe a little more training for new waiters/waitresses will help. The waiters at Brasserie are always so knowledgeable it was a bit off that it was not the same at Bowood. I will definitely be returning soon and was happy with the overall experience.

Not only was the plant not a healthy specimen, but there was next to no customer service or product knowledge when contacting the store.
