Elizabeth Hopkins: Go to this post office if you can - hands down one of the friendliest and most efficient ones I’ve encountered. These incredibly kind and collected people do it so well! More ups: it’s in a cool downtown spot with ample parking.

Jennifer Sperry: I'm fairly new to the Independence area and post office (6 months). I really don't have any complaints or issues with the post office except I really wish I would have looked at the extremely small boxes for my personal mail and I would of opted for a larger one. Due to the arthritis in my hands as I grow older in this wonderful life, it is hard for me to get my mail out if there happens to be a piece that is 5" x 7". Not her fault I should have looked at them personally, she was just trying to keep my cost down, which I appreciate. I have had packages delivered to my daughters home (which is my physical address on file in Independence) and it stated delivered when it was not. It would show up 1-2 days later. I also received a package which was jewelry, a ring, and it was obviously opened and taken out of the package. Why they delivered an empty package is beyond me, it just gave me proof of it being tore open. This was also delivered to my daughters address. So I keep everything delivered to my post office box from now on. That way if it is received by them tore open, or other concerns it would have to be documented by their staff. Otherwise when I receive it and there's a problem i go directly to the counter and talk with them and file any necessary reports and/or forms I need to, in order to protect my mail. So I would say there needs to be an investigation into the mail delivery persons and their procedures. Also anyone with cameras on their mailboxes and so forth, use this evidence to get some kind of justice for packages reported as delivered and in fact were not. If you have it on camera then that's theft in a bad way and cannot be denied. Make sure your camera is time and date stamped. We have to protect ourselves no one else is going to do it for us, sorry, but that's life. If a mail carrier is in fact stealing packages and other shenanigans, they should be reported and prosecuted just like any other individual who participates in illegal activity on or off work. Yo mama: I have lived in zip code 64050 for less than 2 months. In that time I have had MULTIPLE packages either delivered to another address, or they have left the key to the parcel box in someone else's mailbox. Thankfully most everyone around here is honest. When I took a package I received the key to the parcel box for and took it down to my neighbors, they ended up having 4 packages of mine! This is simply unacceptable! It doesn't matter where I have lived it doesn't do any good to file a complaint with USPS.
Terri Shoop: I'm always getting other people's mail delivered to my address and I've tried so many times to get them to take it back and deliver it to the correct address and time and time again, it comes right back to me. They want to put up this 1800 number so you can't reach a real person to help you so you find yourself delivering the mail you received to the rightful owner yourself! This post office holds Noone accountable as this continues to happen time after time and it's frustrating to say the least. There's obviously no quality control or continuous improvement at this location. If you are looking to move to this area, look out! You may not get your mail or your mail may end up some place else.
Nicolette Cromley: My mail carrier, Dakota, had gone above and beyond to be sure my pkgs were hand delivered at my request. I live in an apartment building that doesn't have a secured location to leave pkgs. I put a note on my mailbox requesting that my doorbell be rang so I can meet them at door to receive my packages. One day he rang bell and I didn't hear it, my pkgs showed as being delivered I was worried, come Monday morning Dakota had everything that showed as delivered as well as the pkgs for that days delivery I was so thrilled he did an exceptional job and continues to fulfill the qualities of an exceptional mail carrier!!!

Phil Dixon: On April 17th, I received a letter from the post office stating that my enclosed item was either found loose in the mail or damaged during handling by the Postal Service. Fortunately, I had kept my receipt from the 14200 E. 32nd st Location in Independence, MO. On April 28th, I went to the Truman branch and requested to resend my document that had been returned due to the damage. However, Jeff, the supervisor, not only refused to assist me but also showed disrespect by leaving in the middle of our conversation. Despite my efforts to obtain information on who he reported to, he refused to disclose any details. I am grateful to Teresa, an employee who overheard Jeff's disrespectful behavior and stepped in to help me. Overall, Jeff was willing to be confrontational and condescending over a $5.00 matter. Therefore, I strongly believe that Jeff should be fired immediately, and I appreciate Teresa's assistance during this ordeal. I would appreciate hearing back from Jeff's manager. Thank you

I get Informed Delivery, so I know what should be showing up in my mailbox every day. More often than not, I am receiving time sensitive documents that should be delivered to my neighbors or not getting my mail at all. Kyle Gebhart: The best "post office" in town. Great hours (open until 9 pm).Hy-Vee employees are knowledgeable and extremely helpful.
Angie Peterson: This is NOT a Post Office. It is a Hy-Vee customer service desk that accepts packages.
Maxwell Krem: What’s great about this location is that it is open until 8:30 PM most days. I found that the ladies behind the counter were very pleasant and did their best, but the range of services is not the same as you would have at a regular post office, and sometimes it took a new trainee longer to figure out how to do something. I’ve been able to send priority mail envelopes and other registered mail without difficulty, though. I would probably go to the regular post office for anything more complex than that.

Buddy Mayfield (Fish Buddy): Mail carriers don't check my mail for outgoing mail if they aren't delivering anything. It has caused my rent checks to go late or destroyed by rain leaving the envelope hanging out so it can be seen there is outgoing mail. Now when attempting to deliver a package it went on the wrong truck and are unwilling to help find it making it go late with live fish that will probably die now.

Tonya Stanley: This woman that works there is awesome friendly nice just very pleasant over all.
Jason Pool: My carrier is a outright liar. He didnt deliver my package, and when I used tracking there was a animal interference reason left for failure to deliver. The timestamp was 1241pm, and I know for a fact that I had my dogs inside, no threat to any carrier, at that time. I made a point to make sure they would have no issue. The UPS guy delivered roughly 30mins later with no hassle. I am outraged by the bold faced lie, that jerk just had his mind made up in advance, clearly, that he was not delivering. Oh, and no instruction in the tracking message of how to get my delivery now. Really not a good business practice.

Jerushas toybox Spoiler of war: Easily the worst usps in the area, they don’t even try anymore. And even though online, and the sign on the door says they are open, they never are. You can show up in the morning not open, show up in the evening not open, show up on a weekend not open, show up on a weekday at noon still not open, they could tell you they’re for sure going to be open and you show up, you guessed it they’re not open. And before you even think of just dropping your mail in the drop box just know it will be 2-3 days before they even scan it in as picked up.

Us older folks are still a bit behind all the new technology, and these fine employees are so nice to get things done. Our go to employee is, Kelly. Cannot emphasize enough just how helpful she is. Kudos to all the staff though too.

Kelly Mitchell: If I could leave 1/2 star I would. I opened an etsy store a few months ago to supplement my income. I sell unique and collectable items. My first sale was to a gentleman in Hollywood. I wanted to make SURE this item reached him securely so I went to UPS on 23rd st. In Independence. I showed the item to the girl at the counter and explained. She said they would pack and ship it as a fragile item but it would cost extra. Then she said I could insure it, so I paid extra for that also. I should have known when I heard the young girl ask for help packing it from an older woman behind the counter and she told her she had to pack it herself. I had a terrible feeling. The package arrived when promised but it was TRASHED. My client was so angry. I gave him an immediate refund. He was going to leave me a bad review but I was able to smooth things over with him. When I tried to make an insurance claim and included photos he had sent me I was told an "investigation " would be done. I guess I didn't really understand what this investigation entailed. They wanted my clients personal information and wanted to inspect the original packing materials- the materials THEY packed with- which were now in California. First they immediately closed the case. I demanded it be opened again. Then I gave them his contact info and he was willing to talk with them. Then they closed the case again. I have been back to the store a few times, each time dealing with a woman named nellie rucker. Today she told me that that she doesn't have anything to do with it because she is a franchise. So, apparently not responsible for any kind of quality or guarantee as advertised at her store. She said "corporate UPS" denied my claim . I asked how to contact them and she said "the 1-800 #" - which I've tried. Useless. Their "guarantee" and "insurance " isn't worth the paper it's written on and I'm out $200 and many wasted hours of time.
Quincey Boo: This is a thief store. The owners will not file a Next Day Air claim for a package not delivered on time. They would like to make it where the time for the refund expires. They are thieves and won't honor UPS guidelines for their shortcomings. They are strealing from a UPS retiree.
Wayne Tempel: It used to be a good place to have packages redirected to on account of porch pirates. Now they don't check in received packages until after they have closed for the day making the customer wait a whole another day before you can pick up your package! Unacceptable, please check in received packages for prompt pickup.

Carl Mcbee: In all fairness 1 star may be slightly high for this place. In November of last year I went in and mailed a package. It was a power tool in a molded hard case. I asked the counter guy if it could be mailed like that of if I needed to put it inside of a box. He indicated it was fine the way it was. Item was mailed with insurance. Week later the receiver sends me pictures of it damaged so I file a claim. This is December now and i stop in and ask of the status of the claim and the manager (I think) informs me it is under review and they will call me when it is resolved. Fast forward to now in March and i was in the neighborhood and i stop in to check and she informs me that they denied the claim because it was not shipped in a UPS required box. Mind you absolutely no phone calls in 3 months. So in a nutshell an item was shipped when they said it was alright , was damaged, and then the claim was denied. Meanwhile I am out the cost of the tool and the shipping. I will NOT be going back with UPS, I should have known to stick with FEDEX.

elliott Jennings: If I could give them a 0 star I would. I went into the store had them package up the item I wanted shipped thinking they would do it properly. Man was I mistaken. My package made it all the way to the destination hub and then mysteriously disappeared (was stolen probably by an employee). So after it was still not at the destination for a week I called UPS to file a claim. They said they would call me when it was completed. That was a lie. I finally called them 2 weeks later to advance the claim. They then turned me over to the lost and found department and that department said they would contact me when they were done. They also said it would be about 5 days and took my phone number. Their promise to call me was also a lie as well. two weeks later I called again to find out I had to file a claim with the store that shipped and boxed the item. So I called the store to find out that the UPS customer service lied to my face on the phone. UPS customer service said they had sent a request for paperwork to the store near a week ago. The store manager said they had no request for paperwork at all that was sent from corporate. but they informed me that the item was gone and I would be refunded shipping plus $100. So I am now out a $600 graphics card because one of the UPS employees stole my package.NEVER AGAIN WILL I SHIP WITH UPS!!!!!

I asked for his manager and a woman came on the line saying she was close enough and couldn’t help me bc she didn’t have access to the computers? What? Said I was yelling at her when I wasn’t. I had just asked if she could not multitask and help me. Said I should call back in the morning to speak to her manager. I called back and the manager wouldn’t help me. She said she couldn’t hear me bc of a bad connection. I raised my voice so she could hear me and said if I was going to yell, she’d hang up. So I hung up on her and called customer service. They had the owner call and he said that his employees said I was abusive and cursed at them. I have the attached picture for proof that he said this. Poor customer service. I’ve blasted this all over social media and called the people over the owner to handle him. From the reviews I’ve seen on this place, I’m not alone in my experience and will do business with usps.

Jaime Stuntz: Package tracking said there was no one home for delivery. We were home all day, no mail delivery, no one rang the doorbell. I went to the post office to pick up the package as it was being held. This place is open for TWO hours on weekdays only. I rearranged my schedule to pick it up, and the door was locked. A sign on the door said that the the post office should have been open at this time. I knocked on the door & waited 5 minutes. No one came.
Adam Lucas: Considering that this post office’s hours are unusually limited — 8:15–10:15am M through F — you’d think they’d be responsible in that regard. I’m here on a Tuesday at 8:56am and have been waiting for 30 minutes.

Ivory Tripp: I filed 2 complaints already due to non delivery. My foodstamp card and papers for unemployment got sent back.. Reason being the carrier was on vacation. This is the 3rd time its being sent out and me and my family of 4 have not been able to eat or receive any benefits due to this ungoing problem. What else do I have to do to get my mail? This should be illegal on all levels. Its been a month now and 2 since my family going without. Who's the carrier for Quincy Ave? Its just up the street. Fix this asap.

David P: Was at post office at 9:00 a.m. Supposed to be open from 8:15 to 10:15 a.m. Wasn't open. Hope they still pick up the mail from the outside mailbox.
