Ricky H: A very interesting experience, you make you own little bowl thing. I skipped all the noodles as you pay for a bowl that you can fill up with whatever you want. Has a ton of options to choose from, did steak, shrimp, bacon, with onion, bell pepper, mushroom and paired with a Korean bbq sauce.The one thing that is a little tricky is knowing how much salt to add, I had to add a little at the table.

Scott Strahl: Went tonight and the food had had black char on it after it was cooked which caused a bitter taste. I am giving it 2 stars because of this visit. Every other time that I have been there the food and service was great. I normally get unlimited but tonight because of the taste only had 1 bowl. I always look forward to going to eat there but after this experience I don't know when or if I will be back.

William Tate II: Burnt.. The grill is too hot too on the middle and outer ring. The guy grilling simply did not care and said to just get a second bowl and that it wasn't his problem. What was salvageable had charred flakes all over. Even my daughter's plate that didnt have any saices in it was charred and the noodles were burnt to black. This was the worst BD's I have experienced. The waitress Jenna was polite and apologetic, that's what salvaged an all one star review. Leaving with charred bits in my mouth and on my teeth, and the need to find lunch elsewhere now. Not worth the time or money.

W O'Brien: Soul food is so yummy! Doris and Mina welcomed us in like as if we were family. The menu is very simple and don't let the presentation of the food in styrofoam containers fool you. We ordered ribs and burgers and boy were they great! The ribs are huge and smothered in a honey barbeque sauce. The burgers are homemade and are juicy and very flavorful. For the sides the Mac 'n Cheese, Green Beans, and bbq beans are the best!The decor has a vintage feel that fits in with the old motif of the old town Independence square. There is history behind this storefront and if visiting the place ask Doris she'll love to tell you all about it. And if you are a piano player there is an tuned piano available to play right inside.

Tried my husband’s catfish- had a muddy water taste ($19.99) they didn’t have a lot of their menu items because their refrigerator was just fixed. The staff was super nice but I don’t think we will return. I hope things go better for them!

CWT: I enjoyed fried catfish. Piping hot, crunchy light breading, great flavor without additional sauce. Two sides: baked beans and Mac and Cheese were good but nothing exceptional. My wife said her hamburger was too salty for her taste. French fries I thought were very good as a stand alone. Everything was hot and fresh. Don't leave without a peice of cheesecake. Not overly sweet or rich just plain delicious. One star off on a over salted burger. Would I give it another try? Hell yeah. Excellent owner and service.

Very slow taking orders and was very late at taking drink orders. Ordered 2 appetizer and he got it half right, brought out a seaweed salad instead of the cucumber salad that was ordered. Didn't stay around for us to let him know that wasn't right and it was much later he came back to do any orders. All the food orders came at different times, some were done before others even served.The food - i will say the crab salad was really good. Everything else was not great. Seaweed salad was nasty. Garlic Mama was ok, but really lacked flavor. Spicy bbq pork cakes were spicy and extremely salty. The rolls were ok.Korean bbq is truly delicious, but unless you like horrible service that's very very slow and loads of salt, go elsewhere.

kayla nguyen: I wish I saw the previous review of someone having a cockroach in their water before coming.. but my personal experience I think the tofu stew (S5) was really good but I asked for the beef option and there was barely any pieces of meat, maybe it’s supposed to come like that but most of my bites were just the tofu. Service was average, they did what they had to (bringing in food and drink we ordered) but nothing extra like filling up our waters, or asking how we are doing. personally, I think this place is better than choga by the quality of the food, but nothing tops kbbq that I experience back home in Dallas.

Cody Sun: I’ve never had a complaint at this place until we went in this past Thursday. According to the Kansas City Star, Chosun had 8 priority healthcode violations as cited by the Kansas Department of Agriculture during a December 8th routine inspection in 2022. As we were being served our waters, one of our friends found a cockroach in their water. We promptly addressed it with our waiter who changed out the cup. Needless to say, this was totally unacceptable for any establishment. I understand mistakes happen with healthcode violations, but one would hope this establishment would have learned something from their previous 8 violations. Cockroaches are notorious for being carriers of bacteria, and the cleanliness and sanitation at this establishment is highly questionable. We will never be coming back.

Rhonda Mattson: I've been there twice, once by myself and once with two other adults, a toddler, and an infant. It is a small place but we got sat immediately. Both times I felt like service was very good with the wait staff being very attentive. When by myself I ordered off the regular menu but with the group we did the BBQ. Portion sizes were large and I took home leftovers the first time after ordering a noodle dish appetizer and an entree. We got a combo meat tray that was supposed to feed 3 to 4 people. The 3 of us were able to finish it off but had leftover appetizer and the salad that came out.The place was clean and they did well with the toddler. They offered to put out diaper bags out of the way so when the food came out there would be room. I saw a lot of kids there as we left so definitely family friendly.Kid-friendliness: It can be loud since it is a small place but the staff was friendly towards the kids and there were a lot of toddler aged kids in there the day we went.
