Misty River Equestrian Center: what do users think?
Alyssa Ferguson: Awesome
Doug Vahrenberg: Great Folks and Easy to Do Business With. honored they have given Our Business their Choice for their Massey Ferguson Tractors. They make it so easy and always so polite. Hard to Find Good People like them in the world today.
J B: Love the hunter jumper trainer!
Tirzah Vernon: Friendly trainers and owner. Horses well taken care of. Great property and arenas.
Angela Cloud: I am currently taking lessons here. It is obvious that the horses are well loved and taken care of - which is very important to me! Eva is my instructor, and she is the best. - extremely knowledgeable, patient, and explains everything very well. I learn something new every week an I always look forward to the next lesson. I highly recommend Eva and this facility for lessons!
Tracey Bacus: My nephew takes riding lessons here. His instructor works really well with him. She's patient, yet firm. She truly cares about his learning to ride correctly.
Jerod Estep: Seriously think this was the worst experience we have ever had! The instructor was so young and so disrespectful to a small group of 7 year old. Seriously can’t believe they only had one instructor out for 3 7 year olds that have no horse riding experience at all! This review is me putting my thought nicely and would not recommend anyone going or taking their kids here!
D Alighieri: I have called this place about boarding more than 20x in the last two weeks, and left 2 messages. No one ever answered or returned calls. They might have closed.
Caitlin Grover: I have been taking lessons there but almost 8 years it has been something I look forward to every week all the horses are taken care of and you learn a lot and the instructors are very well educated on everything Regarding horses riding or anything you might need to know They are also all fun and make sure that you have fun with the lessons
Jeffrey Parrish: We have done the Boy Scout merit badge program at Misty River for Horsemanship a few times. The facilities are quite good. The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, engaging, good people and easy to talk with. The horses are gentle and mostly tolerant - one was high energy, chomping at the bit.The arena where the riding takes place is good sized and in good order.I am not a horse expert and so I rate Misty River with a different eye than a serious horse person. I look at them with a novice eye. What I see and experienced is more than good enough to satisfy our needs.
Holly Schmitz: My daughter has been taking riding lessons here to learn Show Jumping. Ms. Roach is very good and has helped our daughter progress amazingly since June of this year.
Jeremy Roberts: A few instructors have no clue what they are doing I recommend not going there for horse back riding lessons.
Kaylene Ortbals: Love the trainer and the show's and all
Colleen Flannery: Great place to take riding lessons
Kelli Simmons: We go there an get the free manure !
Denise Harrold: Girl scouts had an amazing time. Thanks
Karen Helm: It was exciting fun. Horse's are beautiful. They take great care & love their horse's.
Robert Nichols: My daughter loves doing her horse back riding there!
Nancy Kallsnick: Dirty and poorly managed.
S. Fox: This is a nice place. They do a good job with riding lessons for kids.
Tracy Sullivan: A beautiful, scenic equestrian center. The horses are well cared for and the instructors seem very knowlegeable. We enjoy going here very much.

Woodson Hill Equestrian Center: what do users think?
Jenna Barcus: Honestly I am not so sure I’d even give it 1 star! My daughter started lessons there and LOVED it. Then out of no where she was told by her trainer Anna Webb that she’s no longer training on saturdays and she had no room for my daughter and was going to wait list her. Didn’t even offer us a different day. My daughter was completely devastated. I find this completely unprofessional. My daughter was given lessons to just be told u will have to wait. I bought her a riding hat for Christmas and now 2 weeks before Christmas she doesn’t have riding lessons anymore. I bought her new riding boots. And even worse this was in an email. I then reached out to the owner by email and phone call and never received a call or email back. This is extremely disappointing for me and my daughter. We were referred by another rider that sees someone else and highly recommended this place. I’m sure some of the other trainers are great but I don’t recommend the one my daughter had. And if reach out out to the owner You might not get a message or call back.
TheEmmaGerard: Woodson Hill is incredible. It's such a gorgeous facility and they have a huge array of lesson horses, so you can find the perfect fit for your preferences. Maple is the most amazing, kind, supportive trainer and she truly inspires confidence.
Carmelle Armstrong: Wonderful barn, well cared for horses, excellent instructors! We love Woodson Hill!
Sharon King: Call an call if your not rich forget this place my 6 yr old granddaughter don't even have a even start with places like this around ya you can say the people are nice they helped so much ......why does everything have to be about money an so much .my granddaughter just wanted a chance an society wonders what happened to those kids .it's because you don't give them a fighting chance
Alexandria s: Elizabeth and all of her staff are absolutely amazing. They take excellent care of the horses. I was so sad to leave there I never had to worry about my mare. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was being taken care of.
landree: Horses are colicing left and right there. They’ve lost many horses in the last couple years, all due to EPM/colic. I boarded my horse there for about 3 months. After about a month she started acting up, as well as one of my good friend’s horses. We talked about it, as we knew it wasn’t a coincidence. She fortunately moved barns, however I stayed hoping it was just her getting use to her surroundings. Her body weight starting to decline drastically. She was never overworked. We even bought her extra groceries. This barn does not feed NEARLY enough to any of their horses. They all seem to be starving and underweight. She was never turned out into a large pasture where she could stretch her legs . She was always stuck in a tiny paddock with 0 grass and a bit of hay every single day. It infuriated me and her ORIGINAL owners (yep. she was a lease and I got blamed for her drastic decline.) I’ve just had an absolute terrible experience here. It was an absolute nightmare and I do not recommend this place whatsoever. This happened a little over a year ago, and I am just now comfortable enough to write about it on here. Hopefully things have gotten better, however I highly doubt it.
Cliff Liberty: The best ever
monte Ss: I deliver here very beautiful horses enjoy my visit everytime more than expected
Mike Holmes: The greatest people!!! Kind and accommodating, incredibly knowledgeable too!
avery: I absolutely love this barn there is so many things to do here and the teaching is very diverse. The horses are very well trained, kept fit and well fed. There are many things at this barn to love from the 2 outdoor arenas to the dust free indoor arenas plus a round pen. Both me and my sister have been leasing 2 different horses she leases Converse and I lease Fargo. We do hunt seat, western pleasure, and showmanship. But I have learn how to do things in smaller size like jumping, saddle seat, dressage, and much more. My favorite part about going to this barn is the shows they have recently me and Fargo won high point at travel shows they have. The shows are very rewarding experience. Back to the facility there are lots of stalls and outdoor turn out where the horses are outside in pastures or dry lots. There are 3 large tack rooms and tack lockers to keep your tack in. The people here are very friendly and the trainers are highly educated. The horses are very well trained as I’ve said before and there is a large variety of breeds, colors and ages of horses. Over all it is a great place to board horses, take lessons, and train your horses. Whether you’re just starting out as a beginner or are an advanced rider this barn welcomes everyone!🐴
sara bethany: Wonderful barn and people.
Bonnie Nolan: Very nice barn, friendly people and clean.
Sara Burnham: Friendly knowledge staff, beautiful horses
Adam Kroeger: My daughters love their lessons at Woodson Hills
Kayla Thorpe: This place is clean and everyone here is is amazing and does a wonderful job
doug Freeman: Nice location with 1st class accommodations
Andrea Simpson: My daughter had the best time here with her girl scout group. The staff are amazingly patient with the kids, and you can tell the horses are loved and well cared for.
Debi Govero: Super nice facility and friendly people!
Zachariah Stovall: Very nice staff. Horses are well taken care of
how to summon a lemon: If you're not afraid of horses then your heart will melt. They do everything they can, no matter the cost. They have rehabbed many horses, all turning out happy with their new owners and healthier than when they came. They adopted a horse heading for the kill pen who was severely injured and malnourished. Now her wound has healed, she's gained some weight and found a horsey friend. Please donate to this organization. They do great things!

Sharise Thompson: Such a beautiful and unique place. I highly recommend.
Jim Defraties: Great people good food and great wine. Great for any occasion.
Joe Dangelo: What a great venue!
Kevin Q: Last month I drove 20 minutes to get here and as I pull in the drive the guy says, sorry you have to make an appointment. He didn't even let me see the hordes, I thought that was weird not like any stable that I've ever been to. This is a very private stables and perhaps it should be advertised on Google to be assumed as public.
Robert Golston: Amy is absolutely amazing as a teacher and a person in general. Price is very affordable and the facility is beautiful. 10/10 recommend!
Teresa Moore: Amy is an amazing instructor. My baby had a great riding lessons!
Ellen Quinn: We can’t say enough great things about Amy, Kent, their beautiful horses (and all animals) and facilities! My husband and I loved our trail ride! Their property is gorgeous. They even grow their own wine grapes! A hidden gem in the KC area!
Terri Thompson: They have lawn jockey statues at the entrance.
Matt Vicklund: Simply amazing event space that looks out to an amazing view of the ranch. The service was top-notch, the food exquisite, and a relaxing atmosphere and ambiance that I couldn't ask for anything more ideal.Amazing experience and recommended for everyone of all ages!

Traci Fann: A beautiful place. The food was great.
Asia D. McClain: We found the stables while out Pokémon hunting. The horses was in the back at 1st then we came around front and seen the stables and all the beautiful horses. This is now our favorite place to be! The views, horses, wine and most importantly Mrs Amy and Mr. Kent are PERFECT Toppings. My Daughter LOVES them and when it's lesson day she is up early and excited. We have been taken in and loved by everyone.I truly appreciate all the help and love.
jscott20002278: They are not very accommodating and will not help you in anything whatsoever....and they are constantly doing private stuff so don't ever try to get a trail ride or lesson or anything really...go to another place... seriously dissatisfied with this place! To many other well run places in the area to settle for this place
dwight keeling: It was awesome...great service and the horses are well maintained and experienced. Be prepared for your cheeks to hurt from all the smiling and laughing. Oh..even surprises on the trail I won't spoil for you. Soo much to see...great way to bond with your love one.
Alex T: We showed up early on Sunday morning for a super relaxing ride. Everything was perfect and the horses were great. We will definitely be back soon.
debbie black: We stopped here for overnight boarding, but the facility is not safe for horses. Kent did his best, covering the window with wood that was just one foot off the floor at the back of one stall. I had to duct tape over the open outlets in both stalls. Might be a charming event venue, but do not bring a horse here. It is not safe.
Mary Jane Muchow: Super place for an outdoor party. Great barn too! Love you guys!
Tracie knight: Love this place! My daughter loves riding Irish and taking lessons from Miss Amy! We love the facility and both Kent and Amy make us feel right at home!
Russell Granger: Beautiful property, fabulous staff! This was a true trail ride and Amy was wonderful.
Carl Worden: Fantastic gathering place. Rustic atmosphere. Fantastic staff.
Hannah Smith: Have called multiple times over the past month left voicemails and have heard nothing back must be close not sure what’s going on but that’s bad customer service

Jen Mcwhirt: I bought the birthday package deal on groupon and it was one of the best birthday parties I have had for my daughter. It was for her 8th birthday and the kids in her group had varying riding experience from none at all to has had riding lessons and previous horse experience. Before buying the groupon I called the stables and asked questions about the party and received friendly informative responses. I bought the groupon and set a date. When we arrived we were greeted by 2 employees who were very nice and helpful. The party was well organized and the kids had a great time. We started off by visiting the different horses who are boarded there and then our party of 16 kids was divided in half. Half of the kids went on to explore other animals who live at the stable while the others did their riding. The birthday girl was allowed to ride the entire time and even was able to ride along once with each of her friends. I was concerned since my daughter has had previous riding experience would not enjoy being led but that wasn't the case. She loved the party and not one kid was unhappy with any part of the party nor their parents. We all had a wonderful time. The rides were fairly long for each child, going all the way around an outdoor arena and each child was able to ride twice. With 16 kids from ages 3 up to 10 it's pretty impressive to have something that they all enjoyed and held their attention for that long. After the riding we went into the party area in another barn. It was clean, there was a nice happy birthday banner, a delicious cake decorated from a local bakery and water with cups. Everything exactly as it had been described in the groupon deal and when I spoke with the employee prior to purchasing the deal. Hand sanitizer was provided prior to eating and drinking. Keep in mind when doing a birthday party the reason they need to lead the horses is because often they have no way to verify your kid's previous riding experience. Insurance isn't going to cover children out on a horse with no proof or ability to test riding ability. The horses may be lead but not like a small child's pony ride. The party horse/horses are full sized horses and are given a fairly long lead depending on how comfortable the child sitting on the horse is. I was very impressed with the teenage girl's ability to communicate with the adults and the children when giving a tour of the barn, answering questions and leading the horse around the arena.I had a few questions after I bought the deal and before the party and left messages on the answering machine. The message on the machine clearly stated they do not check those often during the day, but each time I left a message I received a friendly return call the same day. They were very accommodating and allowed me to add in my own activity to the party without an issue. A great time by all was had and we will gladly return for another party.
Kristin S: I bought a horseback riding birthday party package for my 12 year old daughter through Living Social. The ad said the package included party set up, cake, 2 hours of horseback riding for the kids and clean up. After purchasing the package and 3 phone calls I discovered the "horseback riding" was led. I called and explained this party was for 12 year olds and they had all ridden before to no avail. I was told they would ride the horses inside and outside (depending on the weather). When we got there several people were outside including the party finishing up. No one came to our car to explain where to go or what to do. I had to walk up to an employee and ask. The "birthday party area" was inside a barn with flies everywhere and clean enough for a barn but unacceptable for an eating place. There were absolutely no decorations and only a cooler of warm water with plastic cups for drinks. I brought my own cake after an unpleasant encounter with the owner where asked 2 days before the party for the package birthday cake to be provided (Initially I said I would bring my own) and her telling me it was a $10 fee for the package cake. When I mentioned that I tried to call earlier and got the answering machine several times (not rudely) she told me that "they had a life"????The actual horseback riding was a joke - one horse for 5 girls and they had to wait while the rider was walked around the stable twice in each direction. Also the horse was being difficult and the two teenage girls that were helping us had to encourage the horse frequently to keep walking. To make matters worse, no bathrooms, just a port a potty - and no where to wash your hands.I took the girls and left after the "horseback riding" and took them to get pizza and dessert to try salvage the party. My 12 year old was very disappointed and embarrassed. Also - never saw the owner which in retrospect is probably a good thing. It's a good thing I only paid $100 for the $200 party package.

Sunset Trails Stables: what do users think?
Jessica Segura: Thank you Maggie and staff! We had our daughter’s 10th birthday here and purchased the party package. They even had my daughter’s favorite horse for her, Nik. All of the kids enjoyed horse rides, painting the horses, feeding and visiting all of the animals, and celebrating the birthday in the party room which is super cute and has PLENTY of space for a large party. The staff was prompt, attentive, professional, and took charge of the party which allowed the parents to take photos and enjoy the time as well. They were fantastic with all of the kids and ensured the safety of everyone. Definitely recommend this for a party and will be back for trail rides!
Laura Kathleen Baker: We had a 5 year old birthday party there and it was fabulous! The staff is lovely. Maggie explains the animals so well to the kids. Would absolutely have another birthday party there again.
Joshua Laughlin: We live in Greenwood and they brought the petting zoo to us for our son's 3rd birthday! Very thankful for a great experience!
Travis Copple: Nice little place for a birthday party. Staff was very patient and helpful.
JoAnn Wood: Had a fantastic birthday party for two little ones here! All the kids loved feeding the goats and didn't want to stop riding. The staff were knowledgeable and took great care of us even with the chaos of small children. Would definitely recommend for Birthdays. We will be scheduling with them again!
Gary Smith: Very nice people there my son is a handful and they are very patient with him
Tracy Aslam: The kids really enjoyed their first ever lesson. Morgan was fantastic with them! (Ages 4 and 5). Thank you!!
Theresa Smith: A great trail!!
Donna Furman: We held my granddaughters 6th birthday party here. The staff did an amazing job with the kids. The facilities were wonderful! I highly recommend this venue for children’s birthday parties! So much fun!
Amanda Snapp: Nope, when it comes to boarding and leasing horses it’s a crock…
Andrew Sanchez: Very organized. Our daughter and her friends enjoyed every minute. Thanks to everyone who works there. Truly amazing experience, right here in Lee’s Summit. We plan on summer camp there.
Aaron West: Best place for learning to ride and enjoy your time with horses! Great place to board your horse as well!
Alicia Gonzales: Omg where do I start the whole experience was amazing! Our trail guide savanna was great & the horses (Apollo & Major💙) highly recommend
Anayeli Garcia: Awesome. Love it here! All the horses are great! Just some have a little attitude or speed or even both! But great here!I do not really like the trainer savanna because she does yell a lot. But she can be really nice at times. But Sammy and Kenzi are my fav trainers. They really explain things really well. And they are super nice.
Meranda Lathrop: We had my daughters 5th birthday there and it was perfect! Her friends loved painting the horses Nick and Emmy and riding them afterwards. Maggie and her staff did an excellent job interacting with the kids and letting them feed the animals. I highly recommend Sunset Trails.
Toni G: Such a nice place to view horses or ride.
Christen Louise: My daughter had the best time at camp here this summer! She wanted to try horseback riding, and when I saw the camps, it looked like such a good opportunity for her to try it out, but also just have a good time all week. All the staff I interacted with were so nice, and they were so good with the kids. I really appreciated the little show they did on the final day, so fun! She had such a blast, and I think it was a really good introduction to horses for her, and this camp may become her new summer thing!
Courtney Cauldwell: Perfect Birthday party for my daughter. It was fun for the kids and the adults!
Lacie McClellan: Excellent place and staff. My daughter loved their camp!
Deanna Goucher: We had my grandsons 1st birthday party yesterday and it was great! The party room was perfect and all the kids had a great time. There was plenty of staff to help with the riding and other activities that included the horses.
Angela Wright: Great horseback riding summer camp for kids! Half day and full day camp offered. The kids learn how to lead horses, groom and handle horses, as well as, ride horses. They also board horses. You can walk around and see all of the horses in their stalls, check out the goats, lots of friendly farm cats too! The staff is wonderful with the kids!
