Shoe Express of Independence: what do users think?
Shari Freeland: My husband takes his boots there and is impressed with the quality of the work. The person who works on the shoes is very thorough and takes the time to explain what needs to be done.
Andrea Haley: This was my second time using this place. Hesitant because the last time I had to leave my leather purse outside for 3-4 days to air out the smoke! Decided to drop off a couple of pairs of open toed sandals and a purse to stitch where it has separated. It took 4 trips to get items completed. He finished them when I showed up! Had to wait on top of multiple trips and 4 days past the pick up date given.Day 1 now of de-smoking outside.
michael c: I’ve always had excellent service here
Rod D: Prices are ok, not outrageous but also not the best deals. Dropped off a pair of old boots I love for resole work and to patch a small tear in the side of the leather. Picked them up after a couple days and the work was ok but the edges of the new soles were not sanded very well and the small tear was not repaired (not entirely too upset at this since he sort of just threw that in after we discussed pricing for the resole, but if you say you will do something, please do it). All in all, average.
Maxwell Krem: Had the soles reglued on a pair of shoes for $17. The proprietor also included a shine. It is an interesting little shop, and the proprietor is laid-back and pleasant when you talk to him, though he might seem a bit (too) nonchalant at first. My biggest issue is not with the shop but with the parking available at the shopping center, which is overrun with First Watch patrons.
Kate Minear: Had some shoes that got put threw a house fire . He cleaned them up and salvaged what he could turned out way better than I expected also took him some batting gloves that needed some work haven’t gotten those back yet but I’m sure they’ll be good as well
Justine Coleman: If I could give this any number of negative stars I would say negative 20. He completely destroyed a very good pair of boots That needed a very minor fix. Simply put the lining in the boots came a little loose we needed a simple stitch and he was in such a hurry that he buckled up the entire lining along the heels in both boots and then his fix was the worst work I have ever seen period shameful work I gave him ample chances to fix it and it took a solid week and a 1/2 longer to get them back and when I got them back these stitching is crooked and not even the same color as the original stitching on the boots and the leather that he put inside the boots ruins the entire balance he didn't even take the time to fully glue it in I cannot believe how angry I am no one should go to this store
Robert Libberton: I have used this shop over the last year to repair 10 ebay/ poshmark finds. the owner is reasonable and sticks to the quality of his work.
Karla Wilcox: Always receive excellent service at reasonable prices.
Rikki Simmons: The good reviews are from the previous owner- Todd. When he passed away in early 2021 his cousin Shaun and his mother Joyce stole the company from his daughter, and made funeral arrangements, etc without her. Lets not let these crooks win! I'm sure customers have noticed a change in service and attitude since Todd's passing
Meisha Quinn: After my father passed away, these crooks took over his shop and slapped their name on it to take on all of his customers as their own . If you’re looking for a certain level of work , it’s no longer there. Do yourself a favor and find someone else to better serve you
Bruce Verkruyse: Shoe and bag repair. Local and good.
d hoover: Needed a new piece of Velcro on a brand new pair of boots. Brought my boot in, prepared to leave it for repair, but 5 minutes and $5 later I was walking out with a functional boot. I was thankful to be able to wear my boot right away and thankful to be saved a trip returning for pickup.
Debra Bass: Excellent service and fair prices
Kyle and Maegan Spencer: He is so kind and always fixes my shoes so well!Maegan
Shere Graham: Great owner! Super fast turnaround.
James Mcmillin: Great service, work and price. New soles, insoles, laces and oil on the boots to make them like new again!
Sheila Klugman: He was very nice, i had blue tennis shoes I've only had for 5months i cleaned one of them and the material part faded to a whitish color he took both shoes and made them match woth blue paint, with hurting the suede ty.
Ruth Bucey: I really am happy with the service I received here. Very nice guy, great work. He went above and beyond to fix a tear in the back on my heel of my boot when I hadn't even noticed it till he pointed it out. I was charged 37.00 for little glue fixes a leather suede Patch on the upper boot and a new heel sole cap. I did NOT get the heel caps as per explained for 15.00. of the the 37.00. I really wanted the heel caps since that's what I thought I was paying for in the quote, but since he fixed a tear in the back heal attached to heel itself, I didn't call back for the heel caps. That was a little disappointing, but great job otherwise. I highly recommend them. You can't go wrong with the service and work here. Ruthie B.
Melissa Valdez: Great people, fast service and always a smile.
Jack Scogin: Have taken several pairs of boots to get resolved over the years and have always been pleased with the work. Last week I brought in a favorite pair of leather boots my dog decided he like more, the cobbler accepted the challenge of the repairs and the end result was AMAZING!!

Sid Boedeker Safety Shoe Service: what do users think?
Andrea Frantin: Just a heads up, Google states it closes at 5pm. I rushed over here after work , arrived at 4:30 and it was closed.
realizedvisions: Eric was a truly great help. I had went to two larger shoe stores before finding the help I needed, through Eric, at Sid Boedeker. Thanks again, Eric. Way to represent your establishment the right way. Respect.
Jennifer Spor: Great customer service!
Julie Burman: Mike, who runs the shop, fit me with an excellent pair of safety shoes. They have a large selection and I love my new comfortable work shoe!
James hill: The shoe guy is awesome too talk to
Julie Carson: Got right in and out awesome people
John Bruner: Not a big showroom, but usually has what you need while offering speedy service.
Ryan Ortbals: The gentleman who helped me was very nice. He showed me a variety of shoes to try on. They have a great selection of safety footwear, including boots, slip-on shoes, sneakers, and other styles as well. They almost always have shoes on sale, and some on closeout. I highly recommend this place for anyone needing safety shoes!
Antoinette C: Awesome, got my shoes. Mike was awesome to talk to. Definitely appreciate him.
Daniel Garcia: Happy to help you
Tom “Eraserlfh” Stoddard: Friendly

Amanda Dillon: Great one on one friendly service clean environment n over all great. This was our 3rd time buying good quality work boots.
Stout King Music: Quick and easy. The guy knew what boot to choose first time.
Jim Boyce: Very good selection of safety shoes. The only negative is that their computer/card reader went down during the transaction, and I will have to go back to get the safety shoes. Probably out of their control. I'm glad to have a store reasonably close.
Jacob Boardman: Very very satisfied I've never bought boots before but had to for work and I went in and the guy was very helpful and informative and had no problem with me trying on multiple sizes and variety til I found what worked for me I ended up getting hy test comforts and I will definitely go back to get my boots there again and have already told everyone at work to go there
Brandi Vaughn: Great shoes and very friendly shop owner! A 7 was a little snug so he sent a 7.5 here from the Lenexa location and I picked it up at this location the next morning. I brought my dog with me and he was welcomed!
Reba Parker: Small place but a pretty good selection of steel toe work boots, tennis shoes, and they had a few slip ons which I prefer.
Adam Marx: Very helpful with specific type of work boots!

Zachary Hayes: It was an experience
Inga Linko: My husband mechanic. Bought him red wings shoes for his birthday 2 years ago...You actually will save in a long run if you buy one pair of Rer Wing shoes!Comfortable, reliable, long lasting!Excellent quality! Smart investment!*My husband needs slip proof and metal toes shoes... yes, we tried different brands (you name them...)--- don't waste money and time on cheap product buy Red Wing shoes!
Jason Brooks: Always great service
Meaghan Pittman: My husband purchased boots July 16th 2022, the threads have come all out of the toe. He went back to the store to exchange them because he has a warranty on them. The lady was very disrespectful and told him he could not exchange them because he uses one boot to kick it and make it look like that. He never did that. He is an electrician. This place was very rude and unprofessional. Would not return to shop here again.
Kevin Dubois: Mike was great. He answered all questions and explained everything to us. We left there more knowledgeable about shoes and feet than when we got there. I highly recommend them and I can honestly say other than my cowboy boots all our shoes will be bought there.
Lazlo Layzlow: Spent ALOT of money but worth every penny
Justin Hatfield: I love my Red Wing boots. They are far the best work boots I’ve ever had. The comfort and durability of these boots are outstanding. Mike was very helpful and knowledgeable about the boots I purchased. I work 12-14 hour days and my feet don’t hurt. This is my new store for work boots.

I was able to see the minor differences in my feet and where I put my pressure at. After the scan the super nice lady brought out a pair of 10877's that fit like a freaking glove. Then she showed me another heritage pair that I'm gonna come back for. After one week of wearing the 10877's they are breaking in super nice, I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

The young-er than me couple (and their beautiful doggie) running this operation is very kind, knowledgeable, professional and skilled at an almost lost hand craft. Alex's Shoe Repair Moved to Lincoln near Warsaw MO: what do users think?
John S: Truly a lovely experience. Helped me with my problem. Will return with other shoes a new repeat customer.Thank you Cindy.
joanne searle: Personable people, good prices and they do excellent work.
Dave Johnson: Great job on worn shoes
John Ritter: Positive:ProfessionalismMy under size Berkenstock clods were hurting my toes. Alex's shop fixed my shoes perfectly to fit. Plus made my wife's shoes wearable again. The price was wonderful, I felt good paying. Not sorry. My shop for now on.
Valorie Gray: I wish I could give more than 5 starts because I am beyond impressed with Alex's. My Rooney and Burke strap broke and the D&B repair plan is a joke. Everyone said to find a local shoe repair store. I walked in, showed my damaged bag and was assured it was a simple fix. He had it repaired same day and even reinforced the other side for MUCH less than I expected to pay. I will always recomend his work to anyone needing repairs.Thank you sooooo much!!!!!
Angela Rich (Angi): Quality work done here.
Seth Hallowell: Just could tell by talking to him he was a great cobbler recomend him to anyone
Irene Hlapane: Very expensive
David Harris: He fixed my boots, Did a great job and he really knows what he is doing
William Hunter: I had my red wing work boots re souled. A lot cheaper than it would've been to get a new pair. Fits better than new . Also got to talk to the owner for a little bit had a pretty pleasant experience.
Cindy Keeton-Havens: Alex and his wife are wonderful people! Due to Alex's health we will be merging his store with ours : "Havens Crusty Cobbler, LLC." effective July 18, 2018. We do high end quality work for a "family" rate! Come see us soon!
Dailey Warren: Alex is awesome, honest and trustworthy. He's not in the PR business, he's a professional boot and shoe man with the experience, equipment and know-how and has a loyal customer base from as far as Florida and Texas based on his good name alone. Bring this man your repairs! He will do you right!
Brady Cromwell: Alex is the man! I know some people are offended by the way he speaks to them but I love it. No sugar coating. He says what most people think but don't say out loud. Kind of like Larry David in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. If you take the time to talk to him he is an incredible guy and it's people like him that remind me of why this country is so awesome.Aside from all that, he does fantastic work. I've had several shoes repaired there and he even fixed my vaccuum. if you have anything that needs to be repaired, does not matter what it is, Alex can fix it.
Tasha Lindsey: Alex has been amazing when doing repairs for us. He is Russian and his delivery in communication is sometimes misunderstood as rude. I just spoke with him on the phone and he was kind and very helpful!! I highly recommend and will ONLY use Alex for any repair.
Laura Plautz: Alex has been here for a couple of decades & does great work at reasonable prices
Debra Powell: The repair to my shoes required top stitching in a thread that is very visible. The stitching was crooked and there were gap in the line of stitching. I would not be able to wear the shoes in public anymore. Also the owner was very cranky and yelled at me when I tripped over the door frames that is very dangerous. the
Kimberly Lyons: Great job. Used him several times, no complaints.
Joseph Eveler: I seriously don't know how this guy keeps customers. Maybe he was having a bad day. He was extremely rude and got offended when I asked him a question. I wanted to verify the repair total and in an aggravated voice he said "Why you ask me this question". Again when I picked up my shoes he was rude! Hey...Excuse me Buddy?? This is America where as a small business owner we value the customer. You might want to learn that quickly before you don't have any!
Keyan Holt: i took in my boots and all i asked for was new soles and for him to restitch a part that had ripped out. when i got them back the soles were fine but instead of restitching them me had mangled my boot by using a sewing machine. he put about a thousand holes and 500 stitches in them none of which were necessary sense the holes had already been made by the original stitching. he also used black string on brown boots. i did a better job when i put in temporary stitches! its like he had never worked on a western style boot and he was drunk or something. DO NOT trust this guy with your boots.

Gerry Mack: My shoes love this place!Cause every girl crazy about a sharp dressed man!
Andrew Crowell: Best shoe shine in KC. William is awesome and knows leather better than anyone!
Terry Hessenflow: I’ve been there several times. The guys are friendly, professional and focused. I usually take two pair of my dress shoes on each visit and have not been disappointed. I could produce a similar result in 2 hours that they get in 15 minutes. Bravo!Their rates are a bit pricey but competitive with their neighbors. I would rather toss these nice fellows the $20 instead of the pretentious jerks at Starbucks.
Doug Johnson: Good friendly folks. I walked in as I got there from the airport. I needed a shine before a meeting. They did a great job on my shoes right then and I was on my way looking sharp

He’s closed on weekends and will close on a weekday if he gets to busy to keep up with his demands. Prairie Village Shoe Repair: what do users think?
Bret Blickenstaff: Excellent service!
Alankar Patel: Excellent hidden gem....or maybe just hidden from me.
Drew Neubauer: The owner is extremely knowledgeable and honest, I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great cobbler!
Lorena Gregory: So grateful for this place! Because of him I'm able to wear my new boots comfortable around my calves! Would 100% recommend and will be going back to him in the future.
Cheryl Linder: Love the craftsmanship and personal service. This is such a gem of a business. He can fix anything!!
Cambria: Michael is absolutely wonderful! After searching for a skilled cobbler in the area, I came across Michael’s shop. He is not only kind, but incredibly knowledgeable. He has been in business for over 40 years. I highly recommend his work. He is a true craftsman. I will definitely be sending everyone I know his way!Note* Don’t forget to bring cash as he does not accept credit cards.
Richi Waters: When something brings people together, be it a professional service, a spiritual gathering, a social event, or just paths cross...pay attention.I traveled from Ohio to Kansas to spread the ashes of my father skydiving and needed an immediate service repair on an item. I crossed Michael's business, and he closed in 5 minutes. Not only did he take the service request, but we spoke of my father's life, his military service in Vietnam and his love for corvettes. His passion for his country, his family, and hard work..was all so parallel to my father's life and vice versa. This moment touched my life beyond any words I have. The workmanship, value, professionalism, and humanity that Michael puts into his business is so rarely found today. His service to everything he seems to do is but of the highest quality and standards, a true American Compassionate Gentleman, and Hero. A Veteran that deserves to have your business, and I more than recommend his skills to anyone. To Michael, thank you for healing a small part of my wardrobe, and a major part of my heart. God Speed to you Sir, and in my father's words and so many, Semper Fi.Thank you.
Shá D.: For the last three months I've called during business hours and no one ever answers. They seem to always be closed so a bit confused about if they're even in business.
Pete Phillips: Positive:Quality,ValueMichael is a craftsman. He did an excellent repair job on a pair of hiking boots for a very reasonable price.
Josh B: High quality work from a true craftsman. Brought my boots back to life after years of mistreatment
Lee Alexander: Great coupons good food
Kathleen Kouba: Great guy. Nice place and good work.
amy wright: This is the first Google review I've ever posted, but this place is absolutely worthy of all of the good reviews, so here I am.Not only did Michael repair 5 pairs of shoes for me in a very reasonable amount of time over the holidays - he also walked me through all the repairs he planned to make, made cost effective suggestions in lieu of simply defaulting to the most expensive fix, and set my expectations for the end result (albeit, he set them low - the end results definitely exceeded what I had anticipated based on our conversation - smart man!). All of this, Michael accomplished for a very resonable price - honestly, much less than I feared I might have to pay for 5 sets of leather shoe repairs.I'm SO glad to have all my boots and shoes back in the mix - and will certainly be bringing all of my shoe repair business back to this great little shop in the basement!
e bailey: This shop IS STILL IN BUSINESS. Despite what Google posted, it has not closed permanently. Michael, the owner, was very pleasant and we're looking forward to doing more business with him. Note: Do not get this wonderful business, located in the Prairie Village Shops, confused with one that was in Corinth Center. Stop by and let Michael fix all of those shoes sitting in the bottom of your closet.
Patrick Richey: Mike had my shoes repaired and fixed like new in under an hour, and charged pennies on the dollar that other shoe repair shops wanted to charge me... Thanks Mike I'll be bringing ALL my business to you. New customer ( Patrick.)
Robert Kalkofen: Mike will do everything to help you, and he will tell you if he can't. Fair prices
Clark Rogers: Honest. If you are looking for an honest opinion/assessment, Michael will give it to you at a fair price. It turned out my shoes still had some life, but the experience was positive enough that I felt compelled to leave a review (he did not ask).
Flew The Coop: Needed the soles on my leather motorcycle boots replaced and the service was exceptional. Was able to squeeze me in with very little notice and the work is as good, if not better than new. Super friendly and professional.I'll be going back for any leather or shoe work in the future.
Jennifer Nelson: I needed the strap replaced on my purse. He gave me several options as to how he could fix it, and told me if I chose the most expensive one, he would tell me not to because it wouldn't be worth it. We settled on an option, and it turned out even better than I had hoped. And it was ready when he told me it would be.
Cindy Fine: I took a Coach purse in to see if a keeper could be replaced. Michael said he he would be able to fix it but the replacement may not look like the others. I picked it up today and it looks exactly like the other three. I am beyond pleased!! Michael is so kind and genuine a rare find these days. I would highly recommend him to anyone!
Sandy Martin: Love this guy. My Mom and I have been going to him for over 40 years!
