Instead of bringing out check, they tried to rush and make the food while we sat there another 5+ minutes. When we asked for our check a 2nd time, our waiter went to the kitchen and asked them to hurry and make our food. We ended up putting down cash on the table for the drink and walking out 60 minutes after being seated. Next time a customer asks for the check, don’t make them wait so you can make their entire food order and force them to take the rushed food after waiting 1 hour. Be professional and own up to the mistake, and just bring us our check for the services provided.

It had simple decor and austere furniture. It was packed with customers when we arrived. We did have to wait a little bit for our food. Fortunately, the food presentation was excellent, and the portion was plentiful. The food was delicious and tasteful. It had a menu of authentic Chinese food. The price was reasonable. I would recommend anyone to come either early or late to avoid crowds during lunch and dinner time due to a limited seating capacity.

They struggled during COVId due to their buffet-style ingredients lineup, but we recently went back for birthday for one of the kids, and it was back on par with what we we hoped. All you can eat Mongolian grill experience with buffet-style ingredients and all kinds of sauces. You can make whatever flavor combination you want. It’s great for a group of people because everyone can choose what they want. Staff are friendly. Be prepared for a line around the grill but they keep it moving. The Asian salad is tasty as a side item. Definitely worth a try if a buffet-style Mongolian grill is your kind of thing.

S L: Have dined here a few times over many years and the food is always great. It is pricey. The service is decent. I do think the atmosphere lacks a bit for the price and presentation of the food. I can feel them trying to do a lot with the property (it’s huge), but the actual dining experience is lacking. It doesn’t feel as intimate, exclusive or as romantic as you might hope it to be for the price, presentation, and exquisite landscaping and overall property details. We tried to put our finger on it, and I think it has to do with the large open dining area. Perhaps it would benefit from some barriers? Smaller rooms and spaces? More dim lighting? More professional service (not so laid back?) Just some food for thought.Either way, the food keeps bringing us back. Delish!

Jason Tonning: Really miss the buffet. Haven't really been back since they took away the option for buffet. Me, my wife and children were frequent visitors. Food was great and had reasonable pricing. I ordered food delivered now and then but that option was much more costly in the long run. Food had same great quality however. Great customer service and very friendly staff. Wish they'd bring back the buffet though. Was always full house, so I know it was popular.Edit: Excited about current response. Will definitely keep my eyes open for the buffet moving forward.

Turbo K24: Couldn't find any issues with the food. Great place! I like this place better than the one in Jefferson city. You get more for your money at Taj Mahal, that does NOT mean they skimp out on the quality. Everytime I visit Springfield I will always order food to go from this place!

Minji Min: I recently visited the Taj Mahal Restaurant in Springfield, Missouri, and I must say, my mother and I were extremely disappointed with the service and quality of our meal, especially considering it was Mother's Day. To our utter dismay, the staff and owner served the two tables that arrived after us before attending to our needs. This lack of attention made us feel neglected, unimportant, and tarnishing the overall dining experience. Adding insult to injury, when our food finally arrived, it was disheartening to discover that it was burnt.In summary, our visit to the Taj Mahal Restaurant was a deeply upsetting experience. The neglectful service of the staff and the owner along with the presence of burnt food on such a special occasion left us thoroughly dissatisfied. We will not be coming back.

Rich Cornelius: I absolutely love this place!!! Best Indian cuisine in Springfield and friendly staff! Lamb vindaloo is my hands down favorite. It is NOT a lunch buffet item. It IS a very special dinner menu item. It is beyond wonderful! Vindaloo is by nature an incredibly SPICY dish. If you like to sweat and cry but be HAPPY all at the same time, seek no further. Also, above all else, DO NOT tell them Rich sent you. That will only entice Chef. Stick with the normal level of spice.

Jeremy Medley: I stopped in with my children whom have not had anything approaching authentic Indian cuisine before this visit. We had the butter chicken and the Taj Mahal special. The food was pretty good and I liked the spice level at medium although my children were put off by it. They definitely have an American palate and I am working on adjusting them to other ethnic cuisines and spice levels. We arrived at 8:05 approximately with the restaurant closing at 8:30. The staff immediately seemed to start pressing us and hurrying us along. The food arrived around 8:25 and not even 5 minutes later they were presenting me with the bill and asking if I could pay immediately. I was told that the restaurant was closing at 8:30 at least 4 times. I was rushed and hurried the entire meal which made the overall experience not enjoyable. I didn’t finish my meal and eventually dumped it in a box in order to leave. I fully understand that restaurant staff have lives and families and other events to get to but I also walked in before close and asked if it was ok to order. They took my order and served us so it would be nice to not be rushed the entire time. The kitchen should close at 8 in order to avoid this issue and allow customers time to finish their meal. I had not intention of staying until 9:30 but it would have been nice to eat my meal without the staff standing behind me and my children staring at us and rushing us with their eyes. At one point 3 staff members were watching us eat. We left the restaurant at 8:49. I am now at home watching Eureka on Amazon sitting at my coffee table finishing my Indian dinner and the atmosphere is much more relaxed although my dogs are now staring at me and my food…..

elysha mcadoo: So disappointed. They used to be my go too order for Chinese delivery as we are just outside of town. The egg drop soup was a favorite until today. Our order was correct, but not as good as it has been. The egg drop soup was just wrong. It tasted un seasoned. The crab Rangoon was half burnt and pretty un stuffed. Our mains, an orange chicken and cashew chicken, were dry in the meat and soggy in the rice. Even our side of low mein noodles was under sauced and bland. Overall it was way below our expectations and super disappointing. I didn't even get any soy sauce on the side (after asking for extra). I don't know what changed, but hopefully for the other regular customers they figure it out. I know it will be some time before I give them a chance again.

Not great but at an okay level.0 Star for the service quality.For whatever reason, they never have enough servers, thus the food is always served slowly. For those with jobs who just have an hour for lunch, this is not the place to eat. I know that, so I started getting pick-up orders instead. Also, whenever I placed a pick-up order, I always called at least 45 minutes beforehand to confirm.Unfortunately, at least 6 times out of 10 they have made me wait an extra 20 minutes or more for a pick-up order. The last time I made a pick-up order for two meals, they estimated that it would take 20 to 25 minutes which was totally fine with me. And when I came in to pick up my food, I was already 10 minutes late.Guess what? The food wasn't ready yet. We had to wait there because my sister had already paid for the food. Another 35 minutes passed. It seemed that they did not make our food until we showed up... And an important note, the dine-in at the time I came in was not busy at all. It was kinda dead, and I saw no dirty tables left so I figured it might have not been even busy there before I came in. So we waited an hour for a two-meal pick-up order.I would have not minded if they told me to pick up my food an hour later while they were on the phone with me. I just hate that they always make me wait an extra 20 minutes or more (like this time, 35 minutes) when I already arrive. This shows that they have ZERO RESPECT to their customers and their customers' time. Also, they never apologized to me when making me wait that long. The chef/owner always looks very unfriendly and grumpy.I used to work at several restaurants and I understand that sometimes, things may get crazy and you cannot satisfy every customer, and unpleasant moments may happen. But this has been a pattern and becoming very unacceptable.Another thing that I am concerned is that kids running around in the kitchen. Like little kids around 2-3 years old. Thats not safe.I had been a frequent customer and even referred this restaurant to many other people I know. Now not anymore. People I know who have came here also complained about the service quality and speed of the service.
