Jess Litty: We love that this recycling location is available and costs nothing out of pocket! We've brought our recycling here for 4 years & counting and never had a problem. Staff is always friendly, grounds are always clean, & now there's an easily accessible container to keep recycled mattresses in. Can't say enough good about this place.The public could stand to wash out & prep their materials needing recycling. Most US citizens don't think about how important it is to not try to recycle contaminated materials like pizza boxes with grease spots on them, glass jars & tin/aluminium cans with food residue, cardboard boxes with stickers, etc. Those elements ruin the recycling batch & it all gets thrown out.

Michael Davis: Was asked to leave made to get off property because I wanted to recycle my cardboard. He said I can’t recycle because I am a business, I understand that but, sign says no dumping trash but no sign posted saying no business’s allowed to recycle. ??

Maybe that's how they afford such a lavish office building for a place whose recycling yard looks like a junkyard .

Eric Schmidt: They're very organized and it's a very good place to take all your yard waste aluminum cans glass you want to donate and brush but you have to separate your brush and your sticks so that they can get it in the right pile to put it into a mulch they have good mulch if you need some good mulch for gardens.

Eric Jackson: This center is only open a few hours a week and drop off is by appointment only. I called Springfield's recycling hotline for more information, and when I pressed 4 to receive more information about household chemical recycling the automated service said "goodbye" and hung up on me. I I would prefer to recycle household chemicals rather than sending them to the landfill. A city the size of Springfield should have a full-time hazardous waste recycling center that does not require an appointment for drop off. So my unused latex and oil paints are going into the dumpster instead.

The scrap yard will hand you $5-$10 if you take it to them. $20 to drop off a television? Tractor Mike: These folks have always been really nice and worthy of a four star rating. In previous visits they were appreciative of me wanting to recycle and being willing to pay whatever they charged to get rid of batteries and electronic equipment, I won’t go into details, but I was treated worse there yesterday than I’ve ever been treated in a customer service interaction. When I told the people in the back that their customer service skills were very disappointing they said “Yeah, we hear that a lot.” It’s very sad because treating people with disrespect sure won’t encourage recycling.To avoid what I went through, when you arrive, understand these rules. You can’t unload in the front like before and you can’t unload until being checked in. If you grab a cart and unload your stuff, they’ll make you load it back up. You have to pay before unloading and get a sheet with details of what you’re dropping off. Then you must drive around to the back (the north side) and meet the attendants to unload. It seems like a very cumbersome system versus unloading in front, having them look over your items and then paying,, but that’s the process. I don’t want my rating to discourage recycling because I’m passionate about it, but I’d sure hate for anyone to go through what I went through yesterday. YOU MUST BE PREPARED TO FOLLOW THEIR RULES and everything should go fine.
