Amanda Waterman: HORRIBLE! I see I am not the only one treated this way. The optometrist was good but there is a very serious issue at this practice when it comes to billing. They were unsuccessful in billing my insurance and when I became aware (through my insurance company, NOT the doctor’s office) I requested a bill to pay. They never provided a bill, stopped responding to my emails, and sent me to collections. This ruined my perfect credit. I tried to contact them again to see if they could help fix the situation and I begged them for a bill so I could pay. They lied to me and said they would look into it. Again, the person “helping” me vanished and stopped responding to emails. As a military family, we are completely disgusted with the lack of follow through and the unfairness of the situation. Be very careful when dealing with this office or you could find your credit downgraded, and end up paying higher interest rates on house and car loans for years.
Rhonda M: Dr Slinker is great; however, this office doesn’t take Medicare Advantage plans or even Medicaid. He’s been my eye doctor for many years, and now I have to find another one. Shame on you, Mercy!
Meagan Sims: Had a routine eye care visit in May. I do not have vision insurance and made that clear when I scheduled the appointment that I intended to pay out of pocket. I was told by an employee to try to submit the charges through insurance anyway. As expected, the insurance company denied the claim and since that time, I have attempted to pay for the services rendered. It has been 7 months and countless phone calls later- still no one in this office can help me pay this bill. I have been pushed off for weeks at a time but really all I would like to do is pay for the service. How hard is it to collect payment when the customer continues to reach out to pay?
Katie Tonarely: Dr. Bartels and his staff do amazing work! I went in to buy non-prescription sunglasses and even though they were slammed, the friendly staff was amazing and helpful, especially Cindy. I won’t buy sunglasses from anywhere else!

Robin Parison: I went in for my appointment to get new glasses and contacts. Dr. Susan Rice was who they put me with . I was so upset by the time I left that I swore I would never go back and a year later when I think about the way that appointment went still angers me. The doctor started throwing out all these acronyms and proceeded to tell me don’t worry about what I’m telling my assistant as long as I know what it is everything. OK. That did not sit well with me. I want to know what you’re calling all the stuff that I’ve never heard before. She changed everything on my glasses and contacts that my prior optometrist had done at the eye exam. she changed the prescription on my glasses and where I had one side for reading the other side for distance which was working out perfectly, she told me that we need to get my glasses back on the right track, and when she did that it messed up how I can see and read. Just a terrible experience. I wouldn’t go back if they offered me a free exam and free glasses. My husband went the same day wasn’t happy with the Doctor he went to go see. So I guess it’s gonna be a matter of opinion if you decide to make an appointment. But be careful.

Jym Wilson: First time visiting this location as I have formerly used the shop on National Ave. I really like the vibe and fact that it is downtown. Feels much less shopping mall-like and more personal. Also closer to my home and it gives me a reason to go downtown, (and parking could not be easier).Everyone I dealt with was both professional and friendly. Lots of cool new toys for the physical exam and yet somehow after 55 years of glasses the vision exam still comes down to "sharper/less sharp? one/two?" Whatever works but really?I arrived exactly at appointment time and still waited 25 minutes. No one mentioned this until the end of the exam. That's a real, "ahem, excuse me" oversight.Also, this was my first exam in over a year because Vision Clinic does not accept Missouri's medical coverage offering, (I am now on Medicare with UHC covering vision). I'm not sure what the reasoning is for this and no one has ever explained it, (at the National Ave clinic) beyond, "we just don't". I find this policy an affront to the state where you do business.

My optometrist, Dr Carroll had retired since my last yearly exam. So, this year I was scheduled with Dr Keeling. I was a bit unsure as to what to expect. But, I found him to be kind, considerate and extremely knowledgeable. He listened to all my concerns as he recommended cataract surgery. I very much appreciated his advice not to go ahead and get new stronger lenses fir my glasses as I wouldn’t need them following the surgery.I look forward to my next visit following the cataract surgery.

He looked at her eyes and was able to tell me her grades at school, that she was a reader, very stubborn and several other things. It was amazing how he was able to do that. I took her to several different one hour eye doctors before finding Dr. Pierce. She would be fine for a few months and then her eyes would start to get bad again. Dr. Pierce put her in contacts and spent the time to show her how to take care of them properly. I was very concerned since she was only 12. She took very good care of them and her prescription was the same for several years.HIGHLY RECOMMEND this doctor!!!

Mark Gidman: If there were more than 5 stars available, I'd use them all. We have been going to SFV since 2018 and have always loved it. Dr Katie, Scot and Heather are excellent at what they do and present a contemporary but welcoming environment. Every bit of Springfield Family Vision is an example of doing things the right way. We're lucky to have them in the area.

These are people that care about making long-term clients and their client’s eye health (and looking good in the glasses). Highly recommend.

Teej League: I have never been so impressed with an eye care doctor. My experience was fantastic from beginning to end. Doctor Katie was very knowledgeable about light sensitivity conditions I have and offered the latest information in understanding light sensitivity. I was amazed at how much she knew, and how relevant she was keeping herself in the business. She was extremely relatable. She made sure I understood all of the things I could do to help my vision, as well as my new prescription. I was completely confident in her grasp of my medical history and the current condition of my vision. She understood more about migraines and fluorescent lighting and blue lighting problems than any doctor I have met, including neurologists. I cannot state enough how impressed I was with her passion for her job. The facility itself with very upbeat and everyone was kind. The clerk who helped me choose my glasses was also the best I have ever seen in that position. He offered all kinds of advice that was very practical on which frames best fit my face and worked with my particular vision history. No one was pushy about anything and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I don't think I can ever say I expected to have fun at an eye doctor, but I really did! I will definitely be using them as my eye care provider in the future and recommending them to friends and family as well.
