Levi Felton: I had a tankless water heater that last winter had burst a copper line. I met a tech to potentially repair it, but the line turned out to be soldered to an aluminum heat exchanger. The tech would not be able to make the repair without damaging the heat exchanger. Instead, he told me to go to an auto parts store and buy some marine-grade high-heat epoxy. He walked me through all the preparation steps for the epoxy to get a proper grip. And, he didn't charge me anything! Even after driving all the way across town to meet me. I followed his instructions and my water heater is back in business. Thank you, A&D!

Phil Hastie: What a blessing A & D Mechanical was to my wife and I when our AC went completely out! For nearly 2 weeks we found ourselves waiting on our home warranty company to come up with the equipment that was needed. During that entire time, A & D Mechanical made available to us two portable units to help us get by with outside temps of 95 and inside the house temps of 87. John Dandurand: Dan and his team installed 4 central AC and Heat units and replumbed the entire building. He also added washer and dryer hookups in each unit. They did a wonderful job sizing the units and I am very impressed with the quality of their work both with regards to plumbing and AC/Heating.Dan was very reliable and communicated often about their progress – this was a huge job. During the winter months of the project, we even had a pipe freeze. However, he used PEX so everything worked as expected when the temperature thawed – and without any damage to the piping and other structures.

We had a sump pump installed, it was consistantly running, we asked them to come look at it and they wanted to bill us for it. It went out and they would not honor the warranty. We had a different company come out, they replaced the pump with a better one. The company showed us the old one and it was a cheap plastic pump but we were billed for a more expensive pump. We trusted this group only to be taken advantage of and they do not honor their work. Be advised to stay away.

Two guys came out on Friday Jan 14, said the furnace was fine but the ductwork under the house needed repair. They also recommended a new water heater. They said they would get a bid to me the following Tuesday. Never heard from them again. They can't say they have no record of us like so many outfits do (including them) in responding to negative online reviews. They know where we are and how to get hold of us as they called me back to confirm the appointment, plus they installed the furnace here. They just blew us off. Beware. Would not hire. Would not recommend.

Wouldn't trust him to do work on my house. If you received nearly $500 for a transaction you KNEW was less than $100...a ticket that was labeled All Services that you signed and responded to at the pay window...you're a crook and that's why we filed a police report against you. The transaction was completely dishonest on your part and you knew it.

Seth H: I had a 20+ year old HVAC system that I was wishing to upgrade with a Goodman heat pump and furnace to help save on propane usage. ATS (Donny) came and took measurements to make sure everything was properly sized and sat down at my table to give me my quote before they had even left which was greatly appreciated. I asked several questions about the system and Donny was able to answer all of them. Their quote was the best of two other competitors I had contacted for a similar system.On the day of the install the arrived on time and spent all day carefully installing my heat pump, furnace, whole home humidifier, and smart thermostat. The two installers were very professional and personable. They explained how the new system would work, went over the functions of the new thermostat and humidifier with me and cleaned up everything from the install.New system has been installed for almost a month now and it has worked flawlessly. With the recent cold weather the system has been able to reduce my propane usage by probably 85% which is fantastic considering how volatile the price of propane can be. After reviewing other estimates, we decided to go with John Cooper and they were ready to start next day. They came out with a large, friendly crew that worked diligently over two days and did a great job. Our house (90 + years old and constructed of reinforced poured concrete) is no picnic to work on and neither was removing our old furnace which was about the size of a VW bug, but John's crew got it done. When comparing notes with others who have recently replaced a furnace with other companies, we paid a little less, waited far less time, and never had any headaches with the install. I've been so moved by this young man's performance, that I was inspired to write this thorough review. I'll get back to John in a bit. Let me explain how I came to find John.There are lot of HVAC companies in the Poconos and many of them will take you to the cleaners if you let them. I'm all for companies making a profit. But, there comes a point where you a simply gouging a customer.Before meeting John, this had happened to me a few times:1) I needed a repair on my furnace. I was charged about $150 for the part and $400.00 in labor for a 45 minute repair. The part only cost about $60 at Lowes. And one can do the math for the rest of the bill. This was indeed excessive charging.2) I was charged about $265.00 for a simple furnace cleaning.I vowed to take my business elsewhere in the future.When I needed my next furnace cleaning, I found John Cooper Heating & Air Conditioning on Google. I saw all 5 star reviews (rare). I said let me give this guy a try. After a few visits, from John, I see why he warrants all 5-star reviews indeed.The first thing you will notice when doing business with John is he ALWAYS picks up his phone -- even when he's working another job!! He will pick up that phone. If he can't talk, he'll call you back as soon as he can -- and he will call you back. Also, in my experience, he always responds to his emails on the same day.If John can't get out to you for a repair, he'll send a competent substitute as soon as possible -- especially in winter emergencies. I'll always be grateful for how John came through for me when my boiler had gone out during the freezing winter. He understands and is sympathetic to these situations. He'll do the best he can for his customers. He works hard for his customersJohn cares about *all* of his customers. I know this first hand because barring him being high on a ladder, he will stop whatever he's doing to take his customers' calls to ensure everything is ok and there isn't an immediate emergency. He makes you feel like he's your dedicated A/C consultant. He's a first class young businessman.I've recently contracted John again to retrofit A/C and ventilation in a tight attic. He did an amazing job. I still don't see how they achieved such a feat in such tight confines without falling through the ceiling.Two days ago, I emailed John with a slight concern with the recent A/C install. John called me back within one hour. He promised to come inspect the matter within two days. He showed up as promised.If he tells you he is coming, he will be there earlier, or on time. If he's running late, he'll call you and let you know. Again, he's a first class young businessman.I'll be using John again, for the 6th time now, for an oil to gas heating conversion. I hope he stays in the Poconos. He's a jewel and a reminder that there are good businessman still out there if you look hard enough for them.He's a young reliable professional. He cares about all of his customers. He charges reasonable prices. He's thorough, neat, and he and his team know how to use a level! I hate things that are installed crooked. There was not one crooked vent after my ac install. The ac unit is square and level. These details matter.Lastly, John will *not* upsell or oversell you something you really don't need. He will explore all other alternatives before engaging in more expensive options. If you really need something, he will tell you. If something can wait, he'll tell you.Again, I know this from personal experience. I one scenario, he could have easily taken the more expensive route (which I kept pushing myself), but John was reluctant to go that direction until he was sure, all other options were exhausted.I *highly* recommend John for HVAC work. I wish him the best in his business future. I continue to support this amazing young man. He's restored my faith that there are good contractors still around.

John: Due to a miscommunication (John Cooper did not service our specific type of geothermal HVAC unit and I did not communicate it with him beforehand), John was not able to repair our defective AC system. However, he patiently explained potential problems that may have occurred with the system and waived the trip cost. I would still highly recommend him for servicing non-geothermal units.

Lynn Pagan: I had an issue with my Miller furnace of 3 yrs....I originally called my gas company who put a piece of electrical tape near where the connection could be made only to have my furnace stop running and having to continuously adjust the electrical tape.. I recalled my gas company and they connected me to the parts department. The parts department worker told me to use weather stripping in the area and that should work to keep the furnace running and save me money at the same time from having to call out a repair man....In between I had the same issue of readjusting and adding new pieces of weather stripping just to keep the furnace running......Sick of the constant having to readjust to keep the furnace working, I contacted Miller Furnace online and found some distributors... I called the closest one to my area... The distributor highly recommended John Cooper.....John came to my home and found the main issue that was the actual cause of the problem to begin with.. I appreciated that he was honest and upfront..John gave me a couple of options of ways I could go....He was very professional and knowledgeable and I would recommend him to anyone who needed a furnace repair man....Price wise for his expertise I would say was very reasonable......All around I give John Cooper HVAC a 5+ star rating for all around great service.......
