Alisa Hill: My 86 year old father’s A/C was freezing up. This happened even after several years of having a service agreement where they came out twice a year for cleaning, etc. We were told to turn it off, let it thaw out and then turn it on again. It continued to freeze up. I called my son in KC who has his refrigeration certificate and he said that the outside unit probably needed to be cleaned as the fins get stopped up with dust and debris. I called JW back and asked them to come clean the outside unit. They said the technician had documented the outside unit had been cleaned and they wouldn’t do it again. My son drove down from KC the next weekend and cleaned the unit. It started working as it should. A week or so later, a salesman from JW stopped by my dad’s house to sell him a new a/c unit to the tune of $7500.00. I just happened to be there when he walked in. We let him speak and then asked him how comfortable the temperature was in the house. He said it wasn’t bad in there being 74 degrees inside in August. We tried for financing , we didn't qualify through them and we were told that someone would call to help use find another place. Never received call back. Called the office on Friday ( lady was rude) and told us someone would call on Tuesday ( I believe the name was Aaron). What a joke. Guess they only want to service rich people. We are going to try different company. They didn't have any problem taking out money though! Update: so after I left a bad review, I received a phone call at work(not a nice one) from someone from this company calling me a lair. He said he called and spoke to me regarding this matter and even said he sent emails! We never received call or emails.. I believe someone drop the ball on this and mistake s happen. My husband passed in Jan (we never called back) They reached out to me saying it was paid for and made an appt to service heater for winter.After Kent passed, something chewed through the wires on AC so I called ' Air SERVICES " who were very professional I too purchased THEIR service contract for same 189.00.When Air Serve called to schedule the appt, I inquired about having them flush my water heater, she said they don't do plumbing , people mistake them for the other company. Long story shortened, he did inspection, said everything seemed ok, then rattled off 3 things he recommended I get since it is 7 yrs old ( my house just turned 6 yrs old)One item was 1,999, the other parts ran around 900.00 so just around 3,000, I told him I was unable to, since I lost my husband's disability, and am trying to hang on to the home we worked whole life for (thanks VA) I asked if he neede filter sizes to replace ? ( other company Air Services ) does every time they come out.He proceeded to just flash a light on it from floor, said it looked spotty but should be ok for a bit. Today I climbed up to change the filter, and it was filthy !!I will not be calling/renewing this company's service contract, but WILL continue using Air SERVICES !! Gabriel Fleer: *Update on review. Recently spoke to the Customer Service Manager about my review and experience. We had a pleasant conversation. They acknowledged some mistakes on there end and we worked through the issue. I appreciate their effort to make things right. There are plenty of others who’ve had positive experience with Air Serv so maybe I just had an unusual experienceOriginal review: I read a ton of these reviews before making decisions but I don't think i've every written one. However, I think people need to know how plumbing and HVAC contractors (including Air Serv) have started billing customers. In case you were wondering, it's not to your advantage. AC quite several weeks ago. Air Serv worked me in quickly. Tech that came was friendly/polite but I didn't get a sense of confidence he knew what was going on. Came down to replacing a circuit board. Didn't hear back from them for a week. When they did call, I was told we can't get your part and my option was to replace the whole unit or... I made a couple of calls and was able to track down one place with the part. Picked it up and called Air Serv to have them install, since I'd paid for the service call already. I specifically asked for a price on the part install so I wasn't caught by surprise. I was told they didn't know what it would cost since they didn't provide the part. Thinking it would simply be an hourly rate charge and I'd pay a service all to have someone else out, I had them come back. Second tech was a different person and said he couldn't figure out what was going on bc it seemed to be working, AFTER he hooked up wires the previous tech left disconnected. He wasn't sure if circuit board was the problem but recommended installing it. He was there approximately 1 hr and 5 min, which some of that time included talking to me before and after. My bill? $336 to install a part I had to go find and purchase and it probably took 20 min to install. I scoffed when he told me and was informed that they charge by the job. Their website says upfront pricing but I asked twice before having them install and wasn’t given a quote. I also discovered plumbers are charging by the job when I needed to install a water heater and the plumber wanted more to install than I paid for the water heater. Found a friend and we did it ourselves. I believe in capitalism and have no issue paying for a good or service that I can't do myself. However, when the ratio of what was done vs the cost are out of proportion, I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. Fast forward 2 months and I'm having the same issue with my unit. Not only did they overcharge, they didn't fix it. I called to ask if it was under the original service call since I was having the exact same issue and was told again, "I don't know." Wanted me to have someone out and then they'd decide after they looked at it. Was not willing to take the chance of paying a huge amount again so called another company that's not billing like that and they were in/out in under an hour. $90 for an hour of labor for a few minor things and $120 for 3# of coolant that had leaked out, which they must not have checked on the initial visit. The second repair is probably what should have been done the first time. In 3 months I'm out $700; $500 for a part, labor, and charge by Air Serv and another $200 to fix what they didn't. I think I'm glad they couldn't find the part initially bc I can only imagine what they'd have charged.

Levi Felton: I had a tankless water heater that last winter had burst a copper line. I met a tech to potentially repair it, but the line turned out to be soldered to an aluminum heat exchanger. The tech would not be able to make the repair without damaging the heat exchanger. Instead, he told me to go to an auto parts store and buy some marine-grade high-heat epoxy. He walked me through all the preparation steps for the epoxy to get a proper grip. And, he didn't charge me anything! Even after driving all the way across town to meet me. Phil Hastie: What a blessing A & D Mechanical was to my wife and I when our AC went completely out! For nearly 2 weeks we found ourselves waiting on our home warranty company to come up with the equipment that was needed. During that entire time, A & D Mechanical made available to us two portable units to help us get by with outside temps of 95 and inside the house temps of 87. We couldn't have made it without their help and concern. When the AC equipment arrived at the supplier, A & D immediately picked it up and came to the house and began installation. In just a few hours we were fully operational again. During the time our AC was down, we received numerous texts and phone calls from our service technician, Dan Clubb (what a great guy) and even a phone call from Mary, the owner of A & D Mechanical. John Dandurand: Dan and his team installed 4 central AC and Heat units and replumbed the entire building. He also added washer and dryer hookups in each unit. They did a wonderful job sizing the units and I am very impressed with the quality of their work both with regards to plumbing and AC/Heating.Dan was very reliable and communicated often about their progress – this was a huge job. During the winter months of the project, we even had a pipe freeze. However, he used PEX so everything worked as expected when the temperature thawed – and without any damage to the piping and other structures.

Mike Roberts: Do not use this company. We were disappointed to find out we have been ripped off. We had a sump pump installed, it was consistantly running, we asked them to come look at it and they wanted to bill us for it. It went out and they would not honor the warranty. We had a different company come out, they replaced the pump with a better one. The company showed us the old one and it was a cheap plastic pump but we were billed for a more expensive pump. We trusted this group only to be taken advantage of and they do not honor their work. Be advised to stay away.

lccgl479: Today’s visit was a scheduled spring checkup on our HVAC System. We received a text from SS&B letting us know that our technician, Ryan was on his way. I received another text upon his arrival. Ryan introduced himself and explained what he was here to do today. He put coverings over his shoes prior to coming inside our home. He checked out our thermostat as well as the filters in the returns. He then moved into the garage where he accessed the HVAC system to perform required testing there.
