Jennifer Pleiman: I recently moved to Springfield and don’t know the area too well. I came here after being horribly treated by a worker at mystics in north Springfield. I had purchased a salt lamp from them and the worker didn’t give me the cord/light with it. I came all the way back to the store to get it and she told me sternly that it didn’t come with one. Really? I knew for a fact it did (it wasn’t the first one I had purchased from them) aside from the absolute obvious but her unwillingness to help me, her complete disinterest in the store in general and the way she talked down to me calling me “hun” (I must be 10 years older than her) I will never go back.I go to Renaissance books and have the total opposite experience. The workers are incredibly helpful and even happily spared me cord and light for my salt lamp like it wasn’t a big deal because it wasn’t.. we go to these stores wanting to be in an environment like Renaissance has. We want to be around knowledgeable people who care about their customers. I’m glad I found a place to shop I’m welcome at :)

Laura Hull: I love Bookmarx! Great selection, always a few surprises, and of course the bookstore cats. Buying books there is the very definition of buying local.
Meagan Neal: Oh my gosh, they have cats! That alone deserves a five-star review in my book! (Haha, see what I did there?!) Cute store, friendly employees, and reasonably priced books. And CATS!! Winning combination!
Anne Griswold: Cute place. I feel like there's a pretty small collection, however. There are also at least two cats and although they are super adorable, I'm super super duper allergic, and cannot be in there long, hardly at all. I do think that despite those two things though, it's a great small local bookstore. There's enough variety that it's interesting, even for a small amount of time, and they do and participate in local things, such as farmers market/local sales, and Friday Art walks, as well as feature local artists in their back area, which is very cool.Overall, I recommend checking it out!

I've bought, novels, comics, art and anthologies there. First editions, collectors editions, I've purchased 2 books there that the author had signed. A must for bilbiliophiles.

CosmicRobotic: Anytime I am in Springfield this is a must stop. They have a eclectic and superb taste in books. I almost always find a gem at a fair price, especially in the classics and poetry sections!
JC Ritzz: A wonderful place to find a few new reads. I routinely visit and have picked up everything from Vonnegut to a detailed account of the 1975 Civil War. If you don't mind a bit of ware you can pick up some of the great literary works for as little as $3 with tax. They carry a selection of new books as well which often are priced cheaper than the suggested retail value. For those interested in less covered philosophy and history there is an ever cycling inventory of new things to cover. Frequently I walk out with 2 or 3 months of reading for all of $30.If somehow you don't have an interest in any of the thousand or so books you will often find on their shelves this is still a great place to look for gifts.As for those who use "communist" as some kind of insult well they don't tend to read much.EDIT: I miss the art shows in the back I'd love to know when they're back!
