St. Louis VA Medical Center: what do users think?
Deborah Halter: Good VA hospital. Most take their work seriously.
Yolanda Y Pendleton: Waited OVER 2 HOURS FIR A DOCTOR TO BE ASSIGNED TO ME AFTER I WAS ESCORTED TO A BED IN THE ER! WOW
Robert Morgan: Please tell your employees that in a hospital you don't stand outside or in the patient rooms discussing personal business or anything else people who are already sick don't want to hear your issues
Delbert Hults: Could be better
Joseph Favuzza: Doctors at VA are very good.Staff is blah. Some are good and most are like flat tire in rush hour.
Z Peter Florian: I have been receiving medical care here for 10+ years here, at least 6 visits yearly and a couple of hospitalizations and one surgery. The building is dated but always clean. The staff is knowledgeable, professional and always courteous. God bless them.
Victor Centeno: I am grateful for the VA treatments. I keep up with my appointments and they keep me running. I get my Rx refill over the automated system.Optometrist checking was a bit difficult but after COVID-19, what can you expect, podiatrist section(4th floor)where a “Sicilian” provides insoles and back support never smiles but does his job ok. My specialist on the 8th floor is cool…. The blood labs on the 2nd floor are always friendly. Receptionist always know by heart where to guide me to. I got no complaints. I am blessed.
David Hawkins: On Feb 10 2023 11am my ride. Not valet pulled to front I'm disabledI was trying to get in and 2 redcoat valets were yelling. Not asking us to pull up we couldn't there was a car in front of us. I was still getting. In. This happens on every visit. Something has to change. Always a bad experience with parking. For disabled. All the Handicap spots are taken up by Handicaped Hospital staff. Cheating this system for disabled Patients.
Al: Excellent customer service and the doctor was very nice, knowledgeable and informative, my short visit to the ER was fast 💨 in and out. I know everyone has different experiences dealing with the VA healthcare but my experiences has been great thus far 😊
Alan Robinson: I always receive good professional medical care from the VA staff, but the parking is sometimes a lil confusing.
Mark Miller: Great doctors and a very reliable staff! Vallet parking available and a lot of amenities to offer. A canteen store on the 3rd floor? They also have a cafeteria?
d k: Distrubing, chat with assistant, I was there to see a doctor.Assistant never said they were not doctor, seemed to not believe my research over fourty years of having this disorder, was any good.I am sure I offended them as much as they offended me.Went down to blood work, said to tech, howdy partner, they promptly said we were not partners, so much for trying to be funny. maybe die first before comming back.
Justin McGinley: Helped me on my road to recovery and helped the detox process from killing me from alcohol st.louis always impresses thanks VA
Shawn Forbes: I am writing this review specifically to review the phone reception/customer service/switchboard aspect of this facility. I have had very bad experiences with trying to get through to the right person over 50% of the time. For example, I just was on hold for 25+ minutes with the "Make/Change/Schedule" line only to get transferred to the wrong office. This or something like this has happened repeatedly. I've been sent in circles, hung up on, and hung up on, gotten dead lines, or told I'd get a call back only not to. I highly recommend leadership to review the telephone interface/support aspect of this facility as from my experience it needs overhauled. I'm saying this from getting services from the VA for 10 years from 3 VA systems. The others were good/excellent. This one is dysfunctional and is surely contributing to negative health implications for our veterans. I have an important appointment to make. I also do not have an entire hour of my workday just to try to get it scheduled.
Fleurette Henderson: I would like to recommend and thank the V.A. Cardiology Doctors and Kidney Doctors. My husband received excellent care and consultation before and after his surgery. The nurses in the SICU were profession and understanding of our needs. We were given respect and consultation with each step of needed treatment. Thanks to care received my husband is home.Respectfully,William and Fleurette Henderson
zhan wuzha: Run by bunch of bullies.
Israel: I just became a veteran and I must say that I am highly disappointed and even appalled at the treatment that I’ve endured. Louise in primary care is a horrible person. It’s disgusting the way that we are treated here. I just want my medications refilled and I am having to fight tooth and nail to get it done. These people here do not care about anyone. I don’t even know why they’re here if they hate us so much. I’m afraid that the toxicity at this location goes all the way up the chain.
Bob Probst: The VA has been my primary medical server since I got out of the Navy in 1951! I have nothing but good comments about the service, facility and in general everything about the place! I thank God that it exists!
Brina Harris (Puscats): If you’re going to listen and follow directionsGo to John Cohan
Christina Morris: Terrible experience. Went to the ER at the direction of a triage nurse. The “screener” at the ER was combative and RUDE! Refused to give me her name so I could report her. Disgusting, dirty, loud, non-helpful. After it was all said and done I was given anti-inflammatory meds and muscle relaxers. Drink plenty of fluid and good luck. I’ll be headed some place else. If I never have to set foot in this place again I’ll be happy!!
Shawn Beasley: Why do i keep gettin middle eastern therapist's.

VA St. Louis Health Care System: what do users think?
Matt Higgins: The VA Healthcare system has saved my life several times, and continues to give good medical care to all qualified Veterans.
Dave Nunnally: The VA in St. Louis is very difficult to navigate. Some doctors and clinics, like St. Clair, are just an abomination. John Cochrane has a rough reputation, but I have received excellent care there. If you have an emergency be prepared for long waits, but it isn't any different at civilian hospitals. The place that redeems STL VA is JB. I have never been treated better and more capably. Dr. Kherdeker is phenomenal and the staff supporting her was just excellent. Caring, compassionate and thorough! Very well done! The moral is to seek care at JB first, JC second and avoid satellite clinics. Stand up for yourself. Demand a community care referral if your concern cannot wait. And remember to say please and thank you. Those go a long way toward ls putting smiles on the faces of people who manage your most precious commodity - your health.
michael meyer: Had a appointment at John Cochrane VA Plumonary Clinic on Nov.18. at 1.20. I arrived at the Hospital at 12.05 ask for a wheelchair with oxygen and a transporter to take me to the clinic. Was told by Valet parking it wasn't their job. So called the Hospital 8 times and the Plumonary Clinic had it's answer machine on. Wasn't until 2.45 until they finally showed up. Over 2 hours of waiting in my truck.... Missed my appointment, didn't get my travel pay, or meds renewed. Here it is Wed. 23 of Nov. Repeatly have called the Plumonary Clinic for 3 days and left messages. Not a word from the VA. Veterans stay away from this place, THEY DON'T CARE. Going back to Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia. It's a shame that the Veterans have to drive almost a hundred miles to get care. When this Place is much closer This John Cochran VA needs to be investigated for not doing their job.
Lou: The VA has saved my life three times...so far.
ROBIN MASON: Depending on the services, if you're on an appointment, you can be seen within 20 minutes by nurse and doctors. If you're a walk-in, you'll be waiting just like in the Emergency Department.
William Henson: Had a appointment at 10am via video connection and the Dr. Never connected after waiting 1 hour. And they wonder why Veterans needs a Veteran Crisis Line. All RN’s for the Dr. seems to be too busy to answer the phone and have everything go to voicemail.
Robert Dempsey: Answer your phone.
Taylor Killian: I know times are hard but y’all have known since January my antidepressants would be running out towards the end of February(2/25 to be exact), and I haven’t had a full dose since 2/14. Im tired of calling everyday just to hear hold music for 45 mins and leave a vm yall don’t return. Also, I’d love to schedule appointments with my other doctors if they wanna return any of my messages. Still have a painful cyst on my neck. Now two more have developed. Still can’t really eat, sick everyday.Still waiting for the jb police to contact me about being assaulted, mistreated in the facility, and my pain meds the nurses stole.Sooo if someone, like legit anyone at all, can do their job and reach out with me that’d be nice.
Ryan McKeown: I lost my job due to the Mental Health department. I couldn't get an appointment for my doctor so fill out and sign documents I needed for my Short Term Disability.
Brent L: This place is a complete JOKE!!!! Save your time, health and sanity.
rich bauer: it is one building with different professional medical people, but all medical only. I would not call them different businesses, because they are all medical
Johnobe1: The VA in St. Louis could be compared to DMV. They hear your complaints, but don’t care. You basically at there discretion.Customer service- they don’t deserve 1 starMental health- ignores your complaints and focuses on what they think is best. End result, you get bigger problems.Primary- OkThey send you to an even worse hospital when you need a procedure. Aka John Cochran. The doctors you will find or still in school or finishing. We are nothing more than training for students. If they send you to a medical facility outside of VA you will be paying. I have had to pay several bills from hospitals that va sent me 2. I find out I owe these bills after it hits my credit with a negative impact.
S MacK: Disappointed Veteran2 individuals and someone named Karen @ the reception desk in Orthopedics. The 2 individuals LOUDLY discussed a patient after he left stating that he did not want argue. Then the Karen person came and chimed in and that she was GLAD they bought it up.So much for HIPPA.All of this could be heard in the reception area. My 1st visit will be my Last.
J USA: I will say the JB vision division is a great model for the rest of the VA divisions to be like. Getting eye glasses and top notch care from the Eye Doctor was great
Tender Van Dyke: Horrible! Doctor won’t give the referrals needed for my service connected problems. Prosthetics won’t give the necessary shoe inserts needed. Tried returning calls to schedule appointments and left messages but they refuse to answer or return your call.
TINA REINNECK: I love the VA healthcare system at Jefferson Barracks AND John Cochran! Best VA facilities in the country!
Rhett Torralba: The Doctors and nurses are nice and seem to genuinely care about you but everyone else does not really care about you. I constantly get hung up on, ignored, forgotten, appointments take forever to schedule. Applies for both JB AND JC
Breanna: The ladies on the phone are extremely rude and impatient. They should hire new people to answer phones and make appointments. I was on hold for over 25 minutes to just make an appointment. The lady came back on the phone and said “the nurse will call you.” Still waiting on that phone call.
Linda Radtke: Very disappointed in the fact that when the customer service for claims/ billing is called, you never get thru to discuss your issue. Calling puts you on hold. One call was 17 minutes. No help. Next call 11 minutes with no one to speak with. Not sure how one is to get thru. I do not have time to set on the phone all day.
Ryan F: Most of the medical staff are pretty good, but most of the other employees don't care and would rather you figure out their problem and fix it for them. Place has been under construction for over two and a half years yet still looks ancient in every building. A lot of the buildings can be hard to find and you spend time driving around looking for the one that doesn't have a number on it. If you need to go to billing here, just don't. Go to John cochran if you can. Pharmacy folks and the counselors for them are really nice people and want you in and out (which is good because it's a really cramped area.)
stardust734: They have quality services and it never takes long for my appointments.

St. Louis VA Clinic: what do users think?
Charles Collier: Very professional. Quick service.
Dennis Murphy: Professional experience and respectful and caring. Dr. Mathur is the best.
Tony Watson: Fast
Kevin Childers: As always I was treated as promptly as possible. The clinical staff is everything they should be. I am very pleased with the service recurved.
William Sifford: I had a chiropractic appointment, but asked if I could be seen for another issue also. I was seen by the nurse and then the doctor even though I didn't have a primary appointment. Very happy with the services.
Brett Tharp: If you are a walk in you are very lucky to ever be seen. If you schedule an appointment you never get in on time. The men and women that run the front desk are always gossiping or holding up the line. Always on their phones with a nasty attitude. It’s just not a professional atmosphere to be around. Veterans deserve better than what we are getting and I’m tired of seeing ungrateful people work in these facilities!
ryan busch: The female Dr. is inept and afraid of the VA and it's policies. A government ran bureaucratic charade.

VA St. Louis Health Care System - Primary Care Team 1: what do users think?
Amy Howell: The nurse and nurse practitioner spent a lot of time with my husband. They were kind and caring. He has a much better understanding of his illness and now has a plan in place for treatment.
J Lane: Well in the 30 years I've been going there they have only really failed me twice to where I probably should have reported what happened.
Joseph Brown: Blind leading the blind. The nurses are usually fairly helpful. But the doctors? 🤔 Where do they get them? My (so-called) primary care doc keeps saying I'm a high risk candidate for a heart attack or stroke simply because my blood pressure is SLIGHTLY high. And I do mean SLIGHTLY. If I'm in such bad shape...how can I ride a BICYCLE 🚴‍♂️ everywhere I go? I'm talking NO CAR for the past TEN years. Spring, Summer, Autumn & even WINTER...I ride. 💪 Let's see that doctor ride somewhere between 15 to 50 miles a day on a regular basis. 😛
Jonathan Schmid: The doctor and team were very nice and were able to help me.
Micah Wiles: Horrible service. The front desk staff refused to help me. After I checked in they never called my name. I sat for over two hours. Then when I asked the receptionist man about it he said he was busy. The nurses in the back were extremely nice and tried to help me though.
Regina Mars: Good Visit
Reginald Dowdy: Great service
Timothy Palmer: I called four times and was put on hold or cut off each time. It seemed the person on the other end of the phone didn't want to deal with me. Finally I spoke to a person who asked my name and last four to try to get me an appointment. They offered me an appointment over a month away and told me that was the earliest they had available. When I said I couldn't make it because it was so far out, they became upset with me and told me I wasn't being flexible and "you ain't giving me nothin to work with." Disappointing.

VA Medical Center: John Cochran Division: what do users think?
M Dell: The only challenge is parking. Though the VA has Valet parking there is often a line for drop off and puck up.
Lou: The J.C. hospital has been very good to me and saved my life several times.
Theodore Parker: Had eye surgery there this past week. Nervous and anxiety overflowing but once the staff started preparing me, I couldn’t help but notice how calculated and professional they were. Put me at ease. Oh, and the surgery went well. They care about VETS.
Songpilot: I came visit a nephew 3 or 4 years ago. Every one was nice and my nephew spoke very highly od his care.Today, We brought a lady veteran down for an appointment. She also speaks very highly of this care facility.I am a veteran but never here for treatment. My only negative remarks are the waiting facilities for visitors or people who bring someone down. My wife and I brought her. One of us would have to wait outside. Not a problem, it is nice today, but the expensive looking seats were never sat in before they were purchased or they would not have been bought. The bar across the top of the back hits in the wrong place of your back. NOT GOOD.
Matt Higgins: This hospital has saved my life several times. It is being continuously upgraded.
David Williams: A place where a vet can get help
Melanie Friese: I and my significant other have both received great care here. The Nurses and Doctors are attentive and professionals. This evening I drove someone in because he couldn't. The guard at the check in was rude and dismissive saying cant have no visitors wait outside.
Mark Serati: Do not trust these people. They will murder you if told without a second thought.
Vince Krekeler: This hospitall has cared for my father for the past decade and their staff continues to impress me with the care and compassion they show not only my father, but the other veterans who come for care. Bless each and every person who honors our veterans by working at this hospital, from those in the front reception area making sure all veterans get where they need to go and are treated with dignity and respect, to the doctors and nurses who go above and beyond to give quality care to all who enter those doors. Just as you salute my father and treat him, I salute all of you. Thank you staff of VA Hospital John Cochran Division!

St. Louis County VA Clinic: what do users think?
Sharon Weary: My primary Doctor and all the staff, clerks, and nurses have always given me over-the-top service. I would recommend this clinic to anyone. They are all so kind and attentive. I use the Lab there quite frequently. They open at 0800 and usually by 0815 I am back on the road headed home just superb! 10 Stars if I could give it!
Fred Hohberger Jr (CatfishFreddy): This place is a joke, I've called there several times in the last 3 days trying to reach my doctor or her nurse, they transfer me and the phone just rings and no option to leave a message. They gave the nurse my phone number yesterday, but she never called, the receptionist there are rude and very disrespectful
Rachel Mayabb: The receptionists here are gatekeepers. The "power" of controlling who gets to talk to their Dr has gone to their heads. If you ever wonder why Veterans are blowing their brains out in parking lots, it's because of these gatekeepers and their nasty attitudes, desperately trying to keep the veterans from the care they earned and deserve. If she did give the Dr the message, it's been a week and he still hasn't called me back regarding my dad's inability to get in and out of the shower. Meaning he's let my 79 year old father with dementia go another week without a proper shower. Shame on the VA for hiring these people who clearly don't care.
James Koss: You are taking your life in to yourhands . I went in there for choking form Asthma attack .You would think a Doctor would help you with that. Are find out why you can not breath. No .I can not get him to run a test for AsthmaHe even wanted to give me high blood pressure med. That would have killed me.He as even told me not to take over the counter Asthma Med..The over the counter Asthma Med do help meI have every symptoms that look like a Asthma attack.I have a peak flow meter at home that says see hospital emergency room
Marcia Newton: In person appointments. Covid precautions. On time appointments
Df: Always been treated well here caring and profesinal
Michael Oser: My doctors seemed thorough and caring. It is true that the ladies at the desk sometimes seem abrupt but they have always answered my questions. I think they are just very busy and so focused on all of the details they must attend to that they are a little stressed.
noob class: Cause the ladies at the front bdesk make me feel at home
Linda Bland: The staff is right on it when we call. And returns calls if we have questions on a reasonable time.
Thomas Woolverton: I’ve never had bad service here. My doctor cares, the staff are friendly if you’re friendly and courteous. I will say try not to be a walk-in always make an appointment.
Jay Watson: Forced me to enter John Cochran VA Hospital ER due to my established Mental Health issues. No help for anything critical in my life. I went First Choice for any condition due to St Louis VA system's total failures.
Christopher Haney: Came here to treatment for a simple condition and I was there like forever definitely call before going or coming here even for the most simpliest thing
Paul Outland: Just called. The woman on the phone was not pleasant at all. Vary short and abrasive. I will not go to this place if I my life depended on it.
Latasha Jones: This clinic deserves 0 stars. Went in to get help, was denied services. Where they do that at? The woman working there was just as nasty as she could be and it seem like she was trying to be nasty and provoke me. No professionalism or courtesy. She will be reported. Just moved from out of state to get treatment and people wonder why some veterans are hostile because of people like her. The worst VA clinic I've been to and I've been to quite a few in different states and this by far is THE WORST! No wonder it's in St. Louis. This trashbag will be reported
Claude Evans: Excellent service.
