Gian-Tony's Ristorante: what do users think?
Carl Hofer: Some of the best food I have ever had. Be bragging about your place. In a scale if 1 to 10 you rate a 18. Thank you 😊Kid-friendliness: Excellent
Amy Moses: Picked up Caprese salad to go, Tony was very sweet and salad was excellent. Appreciate that he came out to see if I wanted the dressing on side. Definitely going back!!
Rachel Sullivan: This place is a bit erie inside due to the dim lighting. The food is EXPENSIVE we came for dinner and for 6 ravioli yep that’s right SIX lobster ravioli for $29!!!!! Was it delicious? Yes! But not worth $29 for 6 lobster ravioli. The calamari has tentacles and it’s SO chewy bleh
Eric Zimmerman: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Heather Hundhausen: This is my very favorite St Louis restaurant for 20 years. I had my rehearsal dinner here for my wedding in 2004, and the tortellini is still as amazing as it was back then!! I also really enjoy the toasted ravioli and the spumoni ice cream 🍨Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Jeremy Brandt: Best restaurant on the hill!
Jorg Lueke: Gian-Tony's serves up classic Italian comfort food. I had scallops in cream sauce while my wife had a vodka penne with scallops. We also had seafood mushrooms and crostini as appetizers and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was cooked well, the seafood was properly seared and not overcooked. The sauces were flavorfully and rich if not refunded. In short everything tasted good but the prices charged are too much for good. They are fine dining prices for home cooking. The service was prompt, attentive , respectful and friendly. However there were some billing issues which the staff kept arguing over and addressing in front of customers which wasn't exactly professional. And some of the staff seemed tired at the end of the day, understandable but a negative as far as atmosphere goes. With no drinks our bill was $150 for two persons and that's too much for the quality and level of service we received.
Mary Mobley: Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Nathan Ryder: We were told The Hill was the place to get a great meal before a show at The Fabulous Fox Theater. Word of caution, there isn't much open for dinner on Sunday in this area. The restaurants that were either specifically named to us or we thought looked good online were all closed except Gian-Tony's. We made an early reservation and the place was nearly empty but within a few minutes it was filled to capacity. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food was mediocre. We tried the seafood stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. The bread provided was nothing special. House ceaser salads before the main course has low quality lettuce, burned croutons, and was heavy on the anchovy in the dressing. For main dishes we chose the filet mignon and the seafood ravioli with scallops. The filet is served swimming in a dish of "filet sauce" which tasted like a creamy chicken broth. It wasn't enjoyable and at $42, the quality of the meat didn't match the price point. For $20 we got 5 large ravioli sprinkled with what looked like marshmallows but in reality were the tiniest scallops I had ever seen. We finished the meal sharing a tiramisu because I have to try every Italian restaurants tiramisu. It was light on the espresso flavors and heavy on sweet cream. Throw in 2 glasses of well-wine and it was $112 for a couple before a 20% tip. I was excited to try Gian-Tony's on our visit to St. Louis but will definitely look for something different on our next visit.

ashley sprinkel: Was not worth the price. The toasted ravioli, soup and salad were delicious. The Alfredo tasted bland like it was out of a jar. The carbonara was better than the Alfredo but still seemed from a jar. The chocolate crème brûlée was good. The vanilla creamer brûlée was not cooked correctly so it wasn’t smooth.Recommended dishes Fried Ravioli, Garden Salad, Pasta Carbonara …More
Jacob Lamont: Food bland. Wait staff pretty slow & not personable. I honestly don't leave reviews and felt the need for this one. I'm still at the table writing this. They're so cheap here they covered the table cloths with white paper so they don't have to clean anything.Italian restaurants should make you feel at home., feed you like your family. The only feeling I got while sitting there was the rush to get out and seat another customer (check).
Sara Kambouris: Best Boulognese sauce I've eaten in 30 years outside my own home.Caesar dressing was fresh, correct, and delicious.Ravioli was tasty indeed!Very professional waite staff as well;Outside dining was pleasant. It's hard to find excellent Italian and this is.Vegetarian options: There are enough vegetarian options for a choice.Parking: Street parking at 530pm was fine
David Destiche: Ate at the bar. Bartender & food were both incredible!
Nikki Doran: My husband and I moved to STL almost 10 years ago. We were recommended the restaurant and loved it so much that we never ventured out on The Hill. It easily became our favorite restaurant and the only place we frequent for special occasions. Highly recommend - don’t miss the tiramisu!
Anthony Giarrusso: Excellent food and great service. By far the best Italian on the hill. Highly recommend ..
L G: I came here from the arch for dinner because of the reviews. Ordered the shrimp scampi, came with a salad. Everything had no flavor. A little salt wouldn't hurt. The salad was blind and wilted, almost as though the dressing was on it for hours. The shrimp scampi was just as bland. Breading falling off, no salt, little garlic oil.Food: 1/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 1/5 …More

Denny Webb: Way too loud for a fine dining experience... needs some kind of sound dampening, sounded like a highschool cafeteria. This made it hard to hear the waiter, who wasn't speaking up over the noise despite several older people at the table and being asked to repeat himself multiple times. Pretty sure at least a couple in our group just ordered what someone else ordered to be polite because they couldn't hear.
Kristina Lambert: Wonderful experience! Wait staff is very attentive and knows the menu well. Recommendations were very appreciated. Great Prices. I would compare the service to a much higher priced restaurant but the prices here are very affordable.

Terry Hildebrandt: I consider Trattoria Toscana one of the best restaurants in St. Louis. The atmosphere is great, the menu is broad, the food is fabulous, and the service is excellent. I recommend the pork chops (you can't eat two - take one home), the shrimp scampi is delicious, and all entrees come with a Trattoria House salad. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I guarantee it will be a memorable experience.

Jamie Mezei: Made reservations online for 5pm on the Sunday of Memorial weekend thinking it would be busy. I've driven past here so many times on South Lindbergh that i was so happy to find an excuse to eat here. Overall, everything from the service to the food was sub par. Starting with arrival, we got to the restaurant around 4:50pm, and waited in what felt like a long line (only 2 parties were ahead of us), while the hostess was on the phone taking down an order it seemed like, and there were plenty of employees in the kitchen, bar, and basically everywhere else in the restaurant except for the front. If they let hostesses take orders from over the phone, it should not be taken from the front where the room can get loud, and people are waiting to check in and be seated. Luckily an employee eventually ran over and quickly seated everyone. I'll also mention there were only 4 tables with patrons inside when we arrived, so maybe there was a shift change. The host was very nice and gave us an outdoor seat on the patio and let us choose where to sit. It was a beautiful night to sit on the patio. Our waitress was pretty fast in arriving to our table for drinks, but I had to ask for water since I ordered a non alcoholic drink, and my husband received a water without asking. The menu has plenty of choices to choose from, both food and beverages. My husband ordered the margarita, and I ordered the "house-made lemonade with a sugar rim." The lemonade tasted pretty sweet, but there was no sugar rim for esthetics. I don't suggest ordering since it costs $5 and doesn't promise what is described on the menu. Then came the Margherita Flatbread and bread and butter. The bread and butter were pretty good, but the butter comes out as if it were just taken out of the fridge. We had to wait a few minutes for it to melt a little before really enjoying it. The Margherita Flatbread had A LOT of parmesan cheese on it, no sauce, so it was basically a cheesebread. The basil and thinly sliced tomatoes were a nice touch for flavoring. For entrees, I ordered the Brio Pasta, and my husband ordered the steak salad and asked for no pecans- to which the waitress acknowledged. The food came out pretty quickly and there was either a miscommunication between us and the waitress or the waitress and the kitchen staff because my husband's salad came out with nuts on it. Instead of asking for it to be remade, he took the time to pick the pecans off the salad himself, and also made the joke "I hope this came with a life preserver with all this dressing." His salad was literally doused in dressing. My suggestion if you order a salad is to get the dressing on the side. I had very high expectations for my pasta, and it tasted as if it came from a cheap restaurant. I personally do not like the recipe, and couldn't enjoy it when I normally love pasta. Would not mind spending this type of money on good food, but I definitely did not receive the high value from our order. This restaurant just did not do it for me, but I am overall glad I tried it.
Alysia Cruz: Waiter was non-attentive and my wine glass was filthy. It wasn’t until the third time they replaced it that I was able to drink my wine. Will not be back, food was mainstream, stick to the hill for authenticity.

Basso: what do users think?
Heather Lauby: Absolutely Spectacular experience again! Loved the Happy Hour Menu and the Siouxie cocktail. Took my brother for his first time there and he was blown away by the decor and delicious food. Julie was the BEST and walked him through the menu and explained everything perfectly! We were celebrating a special occasion and I’m so glad we went to Basso. Thank you for the perfect dinner!
Jane Michael: Slow service, snooty staff, food was not the best but not the worst, had to fan myself with a newspaper the whole time I was eating my overpriced meal. It was unbelievably hot. Lighting was terrible. Probably so you can't see fragments of unwanted particles in the food. Manager said his name was Matt or Mike or something like that. He was nice to the Caucasian customers but treated myself like I was less than human. They didn't even have any workers of color there. Only two who were working the front door but none on the actual floor waiting on the tables making the real money. Seemed like a racist Italian resteraunt.
John C: Tasty pizzas, attentive staff, elegant atmosphere without pretension, carefully crafted plates and cocktails. Delicious happy hour food specials.
althea honan: I love basso!! It would be five star, but since they have changed the burgers bun to this new kind, it has to be four stars. please go back to the original bun...or at least not this kind!! I still love basso tho
Alicia Fairall: Great atmosphere for a fancy date night, firelit dining with a beautiful bar area. On the high end but worth the price. Shout out to Alec for being a great waiter and helping me navigate the menu with my dairy allergy, will be back.

Trisha Marie: We walked into this place thinking it looked really nice. Very cool decor, then the hostesses approached us. They looked at us weird, I'm assuming, because we had our little kids with us. They told us we could sit on a sofa and eat. Really?? A sofa to eat with two small children? Wow. Then they told us a 45-minute wait. We sat down to wait and only had to wait about 15 minutes, and they had a table for us. We sat. I looked over the menu, and it was super small. No chicken or poultry of any kind. Only red meats. Pretty messed up. Definitely nothing for kids. We ended up leaving and eating elsewhere. So if you have kids, don't eat pork or red meat, and don't like snobby teenager hostesses, don't go here.
Jessica Wiley: I'm late as hell with this review, but our experience was sooo memorable I remember it as if it happened yesterday!! Another win for the hubby cuz we pulled up as soon as the doors opened (and reservations are recommended frfr)... trying new food is a so rewarding for me and even more enjoyable when the ambiance, customer service and food is a five star experience from the time I arrive to the time I leave!! Jumping right to it, our server helped us navigate the menu of twisted American-Italian delights cuz we were lost lolbvs. Hubby opted for a Lemon Drop with crispy meatballs & Brussel sprouts, while you know I ordered my Whiskey Mule and ate the Basso Burger that came with truffle fries 🤤-P.S, for your birthday, a free dessert is available so they lemme try a peanut butter and jelly treat, but it was too rich so I stuck with the Tiramisu (no disappointment ALL ALL)...this is a great place for groups and even date night & you bet I'm goin back!!

I got the greens salad, the taglitelle, steak dinner and chocolate torte with an espresso martini. I loved everything I ordered and also shared food with my partner and liked everything he ordered. we were so full by the end of the dinner. It was a great bang for your buck, the pasta was homemade and delicious we also both loved our entrees, my partner got the lamb which was excellent. Also, our waitor was excellent and provided great service, we will be going back!!
Sean Noll: I was too enamored with my food to take a single picture! To keep it short, this is the best meal I've ever had in STL. My wife and I dined with another couple and we all chose the prix fixe. Pricing is spot on for the quality of food. A highlight was my pasta - the venison tagliatelle...it wasn't great...it was phenomenal! Our server was knowledgeable and skilled and his timing of our courses was perfect and paced us for a lovely two hour dinner experience. Acero will be our go-to for special events, opting for the prix fixe. However, we'll likely become regulars to pop in and enjoy their pastas, which are clearly their specialty. Do yourself a favor and go...you won't regret it!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free pastas available. Many vegetarian options.

Alyson Hively: My husband and I booked a dinner at Acero on Valentine's Day. When he booked, his confirmation said nothing about a special tasting menu for Valentines Day. They also called him to take down his card and said nothing about this special menu. We went with the mindset that we would be eating off of their regular menu for $58 a person. We then got their and HAD to order off their special menu for V-Day which was $100 a person. After tip, we paid $100 more than we were expecting with no way to get out of it by the time we got there. It felt very deceiving! The food was good and our waiter was wonderful, but not for the price. Sadly we will not be coming back.

Cyn Guzman: Honestly if it wasn’t for Netflix I would of never would of gotten the chance to meet and feed myself to this place. But I am glad I did! We are residence of NWA it isn’t far and we live to eat meet and travel when can. My appetizers I got two, the fried raviolis and this huge mozzarella sticks bricks looking likes which I am so sorry for not knowing the correct name. The appetizers were fire 110% bomb. The salad tough call me crazy or perhaps I’m not but this salad it’s 10xs better than cesar salad or any vinegar salad in my travels. I grabbed the fettuccine Alfredo and my husband got the carbonara and they both were great on flavor great on size great on pasta texture and cheese and everything. Out of those two I would choose the carbonara. Definitely grab yourself a wine or two and the bread do not forget to tip it on the sauce and olive oil. Great chef great crew atmosphere and location clean and well taken care of. Will definitely come back even if it takes me 5 hrs frm home.

Kayla Meyer: I came here with my family after my college graduation & left upset & crying. My dad has health complications & is disabled, so the lack of wheelchair accessibility & seats while waiting is unacceptable. When I booked this reservation, the website said “Italian fine-dining restaurant.” Come to find out, this is NOT Italian. Olive Garden would’ve been a better choice. When we sat down, the man who gave us drinks told us the owner “Gino” would explain the menu for us. When “Gino” came over to our table, he immediately asked for our order. I asked him if he could explain the menu to us, because we had never been here before & mind you the menu is only ONE PAGE. It was unfamiliar to my family & myself & I just wanted to make sure my father (who has dietary restrictions) & I ordered something we would like. He responded with, “Alllll of it?” in a rude & snarky voice. I was taken back. I told him I’ve never heard of these dishes & he proceeded to say “This isn’t Italian, this is Sicilian. You Americans have made Italian food into lasagna & spaghetti & meatballs. I’ve never had either of those in my life. You are in a five star restaurant, & the only one in the Midwest. Though, if you want that kind of food you can go next door. They aren’t as good as us but it looks like you won’t be happy here.”We politely just let it go & ordered what we thought would suit us best. The food, (MEDIOCRE AT BEST) was not worth the $45 we paid for each dish. Before & during our meal, they would snatch our plates away from us while we were still eating. Gino also slapped the bill onto the table & walked away. As we walked out, he was sitting at the bar on his phone & didn’t say a word to us.I was taken back by this entire restaurant & have been to many restaurants on the hill, but I will NEVER recommend this one. My graduation night turned into me feeling bad that I put my family in this situation & it was very hard to bounce back.Kid-friendliness: RUDE TO EVERYONE.Parking: NONE.Wheelchair accessibility: NONE.Dietary restrictions: NONE. We asked about the menu due to my father having health restrictions we were asked “why” they had to explain the menu to us since we could just read it.
Angie Bacon: This was our first and last time eating at Dominic‘s. While the food was very good, the menu had about half of the stuff on their website. The prices were higher. The waiter that took our food order was not very pleasant. Felt like he was giving us attitude that he was better than us for whatever reason.
Ashleigh LaZear: Wow wow wow!!! Dominic's surpassed all expectations!!! We came here for my 31st birthday with our 10 month old son. Every one from the server to the owner came to our table and our experience was world class. The chef even brought freshly made pasta to our baby, put cheese on it, cut it up for him, and watch with genuine joy as our baby enjoyed the special dish they brought him. That was the best birthday gift of the night. Their dedication to making us feel like rockstars made the night one we will never forget. Thank you Dominic's!!!
Ushma Ahmed: The restaurant is beautiful and welcoming. My husband and I both had the Cannelloni alla Romana and it was absolutely delicious. My only complaint - the older gentlemen (I presume the front of house manager) is extremely rude to the staff. He was clearing off a table and collecting plates when a server walked by. He barked at her to take the plates and shoved it onto her arms. She almost dropped all of the plates. This is unacceptable behavior. It is never acceptable to treat your staff disrespectfully, and definitely not in front of guests.

Kassandra Wolf: Went here for a date night with my husband. It was a very nice, upscale, old-school Italian restaurant. It was not as busy as some other places on the Hill, but I would say a bit more classy. The escargot was lovely, our salads fresh, my bolognese was perfect and my husband's osso buco was delicious. I had the tiramisu for dessert, which was very good, but so is every tiramisu I've had. This restaurant is great for a more intimate meal. The quality of the food and attention to detail from the servers was top-notch. I'll keep it in mind for a family celebration in the future.

Alan Musk: great time had by all!
Christie Del Re: They made it extremely evident that they don’t care about people dining solo, as was made clear during the entirety of my visit. From the rude host trying to get me to eat at the bar when I made a reservation, to the tucked away corner table in the far back of the restaurant, to the server who shifted focus on larger tables. As someone who travels for work frequently and often dines alone, I expect the same level of service and attention that a larger party would. On top of that, the food came extremely quick, an indication that it is not made fresh, and very over-peppered to the point that it needed to be remade. I did not want the dish anymore, and the server pushed me to have them remake it so I could take it with me (in an attempt to ensure I would still pay for it), needless to say, I gave it to a homeless man after I left. For being one of the most popular Italian restaurants in St. Louis, and not super busy, I would have expected a better experience. Will not be returning, I will choose one of the many other Italian restaurants nearby.

Chesterfield's Lasagna has a sweet flavor thrown in and I liked that but The Hill's Lasagna is denser and probably has more meat

Abhishek Mosalikanti: I usually finish my meal before I write down a review, but this has been a disappointment enough to do it as my meal wait for me on my table. The ambience reminds me of Olive Garden, but just a bit worse. Nothing about the experience commands the price tag on the menu, not even the food itself. We were greeted with some cold bread and packaged bread sticks that reminded my wife of flying with southwest. The cheese, the butter, the pasta, the sauce, absolutely everything about taste is subpar. I wouldn't pay more than $12 for a pasta here.It is such a miracle to see such a place exist today and command such high prices for sub par food while being decently occupied. I'm disappointed, very very disappointed. Would never return.

Ordered salad with dressing in the side, but came swimming instead… sauce on pasta was room temp, meat over cooked and dry, drink was ordered and charged for but never served. Bartender bussed his own bar, moved/emptied garbage can & sorted empty bottles, touched ordered screen & processed credit cards, cleaned bar area with bar rag and was in the back kitchen eating from his hands, never washed his hands once in hour and half.Gross. rell Iri: The Hill Anthoninos spot was terrific. The food, the taste, the service, and, most of all, the price were unique.I went early, so it wasn't as crowded, and I was served some bread with oil(salt pepper, most time garlic), a typical Italian custom. 👍👍 everything tasted fresh and enough for two people size-wise, which was a plus because I got to take some food home. I went with the ravioli awarded which was shown on the food network👍. Then I went with the shrimp Alfredo and my fiance went with spaghetti and meatballs, and WOW, that's all I can say incredible. I definitely will be going back to try other foods. On the CON side, parking around the area was hard to find.Parking: A bit of a mission to find parking
