Hartke Nursery: what do users think?
Stan Marshall (roundone): Everyone was extremely helpful. You have to go shop there.
Denise Edgar: I love this place. Great selection. Prices are great. Family run. The staff is very knowledgeable. The tomatoes in the summer are fantastic. Denise
M Ivey: Don (all of them) of Hartke Nursery was very helpful. My sister and I had so many questions regarding landscape, gardening and other options for our yard. He is so patient and knowledgeable in answering all our queries /options. They were very upfront regarding the cost of materials and labor (no guessing game!), which was fair and reasonable. I highly recommend this place for your gardening and landscaping needs
Amy Costello: A tree I purchased died in under 30 days and the owner was insanely rude and wouldn’t do anything about it.
Conrad Auffenberg: Lady at the cash register has always been short the 5 years we have used this nursery. She was flat out rude and treated me like I had no clue what I was doing this week. It unfortunate she helps every customer cash out because the rest of the staff is very friendly, hardworking, and helpful while she sits behind her register being rude to customers spending $$ at the nursery. Never had a harder time trying to spend my money somewhere.
Judy Hetzler: Love Hartke Nursery hopefully they will have a Persian Shield plant for me today!
Ann Mills: It was nice, huge too. Hard to walk on rough areas. Having arthritis in feet and knees is rough. Very friendly people. It is worth checking out. Lots of choices.
Erica Conto: Love their hartle blend potting soil. They are so nice there.
Steven Mings: Lots of plants and trees. Annuals and perennials. Very friendly staff, although we weren't looking to buy just yet they offered to hold on some plants as they're new, until they were ready. highly recommend.
Danie C.: I’m sure there’s great plants but, after all these reviews and the phone call I just had, how is that older woman still working there? Completely condescending and rude. All I did was ask questions. She kept trying to hang up on me. It’s clear she doesn’t want to work here.
Lauren: They cut through our irrigation line, said they would pay for the repair, provided an email to send the bill, and when we did so, Cindy, the owner, called me sounding angry saying they won't pay for it, and they never said they would pay for it. I had sprinkler heads marked and talked to the planter about this particular area before digging. I did that on my own without Hartke asking me to do so since it is what I have done multiple times before for many other plantings, stump grindings, etc. We have never had an issue. She said I should have had every underground irrigation line marked which our irrigation company said is not done and not really possible. They also had a hiccup with asking Digrite to mark the wrong side of the yard saying they are not familiar with the online forms since the person who used to do that portion no longer works there. They offered to plant without Digrite marking utilities, but I declined. The repair cost of the irrigation line is quite small compared to the amount we paid for plants/planting. It is how I was spoken to that I give this low rating and suggest looking elsewhere for planting.
Jyoti Behura: We felt completely unwelcome. The old lady behind the counter made a frowning face as I approached her to ask a couple of questions and made it clear that we were not desired customers. I can't think of anything that provoked such a reaction except that the color of our skin was different from hers. I am glad my toddlers weren't there to see this.
Carolyn Haus: That is my local garden center. They now have plants discounted because end of season. People are wonderful.
Krista Hogan: They had everything I was looking for and the staff was very helpful!
Matt Caito: Knowledgeable and always friendly
Carrie R: Great selection. Always good healthy plants!
Karen Williams: Knowledgeable in friendly staff, very helpful.
shawn E.: Everyone at the nursery was incredibly nice and helpful. We stopped mid-afternoon on Saturday to choose a Christmas tree. They were a little busy, but we selected a tree, which they quickly bundled up, cut the bottom and affixed the stand. They tied it to the top of our SUV and it was very secure. During that time, they loaded up some firewood for us and we scored a plant inside while paying for everything. AND free mulled cider and cookies. The whole thing took less than 20 minutes and I couldn't have been happier with the service and product.
Vanessa Teran: Wonderful experience here getting a Christmas tree - staff were so kind and helped us get the tree in our car. Looking forward to coming back and checking out their plant selection in the spring. I feel like we found a hidden gem in Saint Louis County!
Seth Hargis: They have great Christmas trees and the people who work there are always helpful.
Maureen Moore: Great place with helpful staff.

Herman's Farm: what do users think?
Ted Rufkahr: My kinda place
David Ray: Great place to buy vegetable plants for our garden. They sell these amazing ty-dye tomatoe plants
Jason Lane: Love this little farm! Pricey but worth it to support a local small farm!
Jennifer Pontello: We had a wonderful afternoon here! We picked apples from trees, pumpkins from vines, and my kids love the big slide and wagon ride.
Jason Sherman: Got the perfect pumpkins!
Carrie Newman: Family owned and so fun for the kids to the playground and hayride! We visited with the school field trip that day! #gohermansfarm
Eliza Rivas: Fun little farm near old town St. Charles
Rebecca Slay: Bad customer service. We arrived right as it started to rain. Since there were no apples for sale we asked if they could waive the picking fee so we could run into the orchard and pick a few apples to purchase. We were baffled that they said no. You can literally see the orchard from their counter. Apparently they aren't interested in selling apples. Very disappointed. What a waste of a drive.
Joyce Hahn: Friendly and helpful. Good quality produce.
Jackson Pugh: Great experience for families. Peach picking in the summer. Planning to pick apples this fall. The family running things was enthusiastic, friendly, and helpful. They made you feel like family being there.
B. Crawford: Great tomatoes!
Rose Whitworth Whitworth: Excited for this year's tomatoes and corn!
Kenneth Jaworsky: Great selection of plants.
Bob Watson: Very nice the old dude and his wife treat me with knowledge and just great and must helpful they really know what how and when to plant everything couldn't be more helpful! Love pucking there brain and adding there take and guiding for success as I grow large style.
Tracy Cecil: In honor of Mom and Pop Small Business day, I'd like to honor my parent's business, Herman's Farm Orchard. The place to go for all your gardening needs in the spring and the best homegrown tomatoes in the midwest all summer. Our family would love to meet you.
Anna Martinez: Love this place great owners bought apples and tomatoes
Alexander Babor: Absolutely lovely staff! Not much selection as far as pumpkins, and the children's stuff they advertise so much is tiny and not worth the $5
Steven Erickson: Small but nice.
Cynthia Clubbs: Very disappointed!! My daughter bought an enormous pumpkin this past Friday from Hermanns. She was told not to carve it until right before Halloween. It sat on a chair Saturday and Sunday. This morning, Monday morning, I smelled something terrible. The pumpkin was mush on the bottom and leaking rancid juice on my armchair. Barely got it outside when the bottom completely burst open and seeds and liquid went everywhere in my carport. I've been cleaning all day and still smell it!!
Don Welz: Great place for kids
Anna Harton: Very happy with our experience here every year with our small kids. Staff go above and beyond. Yes it's small and doesn't have all the things the big places have. But that's kinda nice. Keeps it a simple trip.
