    Avalon Garden Nursing Home: what do users think?
    Ty Thomas: Worked here agency today & I must say this facility is not the one to be at. They don’t give you much information on the residents & the floor is really sticky. Residents rooms are pretty dirty & the staff is pretty rude. I picked up a 12-8 shift & was given rounds about 10 minutes into my shift. The lady told me about everybody & told me about a resident who was supposed to get a shower today but had one Friday so he didn’t want one. I’m through agency so I go off the first piece of advice they tell me. 7 & a half hours into my shift they try to tell me about a resident who wants a shower when I’m scheduled to leave at 8. I already did my rounds, toileted, & laid down but apparently that wasn’t enough. The lady told me at the start of my shift he doesn’t want one anymore so I went with that but apparently it was a problem when I was bout to get off. They can DNR me if they want but that’s not fair to make anybody do something before they have to get off especially being how rude they are
    Montez Wright: Horrible facility with poor communication skills and bad attitudes. Management constantly lies to you they will hang up on you when they’re caught in a lie. They also talk to you like your dumb and thinks only what they say is right please be mindful of this facility. The lack of comprehension is astounding throughout all employees
    Gloria Carlos: My sister stayed at Avalon for 9 months after a serious stroke. She was paralyzed on the left side of her body. During her 9 month stay , my sister was able to walk initially with some assistance and later on pretty much on her own. The PT team did an outstanding job helping my sister physically and helped her through cognitive therapy. Marilyn McCormick, the Social Services Director, was very helpful in addressing issues. She is responsive , empathetic and goes beyond the job description. Like other similar facilities, they are sometimes short staffed but they try their best to help the residents. The nursing staff try to get to know the residents personally and are very empathetic. Special thanks to Robin and Michelle.

    Clarence Wilson: Those who should be the most professional aren't. I've had a nice experience with some of the hands on workers. This place isn't one of the places I would refer others to.
    STL PRINCESS: Worst Nursing home in St.louis. for employees and residents. They don't clean rooms bathrooms or nurses station. Alot of residents died because of neglect. Employees are rude unprofessional and lier's. They don't follow state rules and regulations.
    Celeste Webster: I moved my mother to Avalon from another home that was not meeting her needs.They had the most comprehensive plan for preventing falls of any home I had visited. They wee also well educated and equipped to deal with her delusional behavior. My mother has thrived there. The Director, Mary Carol, Social Worker, Marilyn, and nursing staff, Wava, Starla and Michelle are so amazingly kind and caring.My mother has thrived there and even grown stronger!And then Covid happened. Avalon has actually been a step ahead with all protocols, and go beyond state and Federal requirements to keep residents and staff safe. Wava identified, before it was published, that seniors first Covid symptom is often a psych symptom. Her intuition and fast action slowed spread, and their actions since then have kept outbreaks to minimum. No residents have been lost solely to this serious illness.My mother is happier there than I dreamed she could be. She even plays the piano with encouragement from the staff, her lifelong passion. I highly recommend them for ones final home.(In the photo below, her mask is down only for the socially distanced photo op.)
    Annette Lattray: We are a small facility that caters to the poorest of the population. Even with Covid staffing shortages we do our best to give all of our residents top care. We encourage all residents to get up and come to activities to socialize in the dining room for meals all while following mask mandate and social distancing policies.My dad has been a personal resident here and he loves it here. He is made friends he’s able to go out and smoke and he’s realistic and knowing that some days we are staffed more than others and on the short staffed days he is patient with receiving care. If looking for a place Bring your mom and dad or a loved one to be carried by people who genuinely are here for the residence and not a paycheck when you can’t find a better place on the southside
    Kelly littlefield-lea: Avalon is a great place to work, all employees work hard and care for residents like their own family. Sadly when a CNA gets fired for bad behavior they make up lies about their former work place. I've been employed at Avalon for 7 years, besides a few bad seeds all employees are great and so are the nurses.
