JG Sewing and Leather Repair LLC: what do users think?
Aaron Caton: They sewed a patch on a jersey and the quality was laughable. I don't even know how to sew and I could have done better than what they did. They also altered a shirt for me and again appear to not actually know how to do this. Everything needs to be fixed and the patch on the jersey has hundreds of holes in it now.
Julia McDonald: I needed the sleeve openings on a dress made bigger. Jose exceeded my expectations and did a very quick turn around. It doesn't get any better! I am so pleased. I will be returning.
Silvia T. Bowman: Outstanding work by José. Amazing craftsmanship. I brought in a very expensive designer pleather jacket that started peeling off and wanted to keep much longer. And José was the only one in St Louis able to bring it back to life and looking even nicer than before! Muchas gracias José!
Cynthia Nelson: He's going to reupholster all the cushions in the RV (2 couch/beds and the upper bunk). Just dropped it off. He is so helpful and has great ideas on how to make things work.
Joseph Abbott: Fixed an ink stain in my car perfectly. I reached out to three places and this was the only one to get back to me.
Lindsey Zoellner: I initially took a pair of sandals to be fixed. It was something that my sewing machine couldn't handle, but was a pretty simple fix. Other places were saying that it would take months before they could get to it and their prices were higher. I took them to JG and got them back the same day in less than 10 minutes, no appointment. Plus, I also took in a purse that had a strap that broke. Not only did he fix that in the less than 10 minute time with my sandals, he also fixed a buckle that I thought couldn't be replaced. He did an AMAZING job! They're friendly, well priced, quick and go beyond what is asked. I will be going back with any of my repair needs.
LeAnn Whitehorn: I am so happy with the upholstery work JG did for me! It’s exactly what I asked for, great price, fast communication, and quick turnaround. I will definitely use them again!
D TT: I rarely posted on Google. This is the second time I have done but I need to express my feeling…Very expensive place to have things fixed. Bought a bag from goodwill for $20, need to have 2 little hoops to replaced and he asked for $120. No kidding! Also a couple of years I brought several pairs of my shoes there to have them fixed. Some of them after wearing a couple of times, they all went back to square one! Glue came off, stitched came out…A place to waste money with low quality! Sorry
Kay Easter: I took my designer bag in to get a strap replaced and was told that it would be ready in about 1-2 weeks, so I was like ,"No Problem", 3 three weeks passed and I decided to call and check on my bag and was told that they hadn't started on it yet...So I was like,"Ok(feelingconfused), but the person was very apologetic and my bag was finishesd within the next two days I'm grateful for that but my thing is how long would my bag had sat there being overlooked if I hadn't called....nonetheless they did an excellent job fixing my strap,I have a vintage gucci bag so actually the new and improved strap gave my bag new life and they were very apologetic like I said before..I just wish their communication skills were better...
Rebecca Davis: I recently had a Gucci belt get some extra holes punched in it since it was a bit too big. I received a call for it to be picked up only an hour after it was dropped off! The holes look perfectly spaced out, and match the previous existing holes. It took staff a little while to find my belt when I picked it up, which raised my anxiety a bit. Just a suggestion: it might be helpful to have an arranged “pick up” spot with name tags attached to ensure all staff know where items are.I would highly recommended for any belt alterations!
Jennifer Parker: Fantastic service!!! I got my boyfriend's favorite leather jacket repaired and they did an amazing job!!! Won't go anywhere else!!!
Kathi Peters: What a wonderful experience it was to work with JG Sewing & Leather Repair!I sent a chat message through their website on a Sunday evening, and had a response within a few hours.A rivet on my grandson’s belt (of very sentimental value) had pulled through and I was hoping to get it repaired before Christmas. On Monday evening, I was warmly greeted by Nancy, at the front desk, and Jose’ discussed options with me.I left the belt with them, and received a courtesy email and voicemail, on Thursday, that it was ready! The belt was repaired and conditioned to look nearly new. With the quality of the work, I expect the belt to last many, many more years!
Ericka Frank: I have some leather slouch boots and I couldn’t get my feet in tho save my life. I have had them stretched! No luck!! Then I came across JG Sewing and Leather and when I say I’m ecstatic… The boots still has the slouch effect… ❤️❤️
Taylor: JG leather did incredible work on my dads leather jacket. It needed a whole new lining and new leather collar and they did an amazing job. Highly recommend!
Charles Mitchell: I’m amending my earlier review in deference to Jose, who has been consistently friendly, communicative, and professional; offering skillful service at a fair price he has altered or repaired several vintage coats for me.Yesterday I brought in a 40 year old flight jacket to be evaluated for reconditioning. In his absence the assistant looking over the jacket was rough with it and ignored my request to take it easy with the material. The second I stated in a stronger, firmer voice “take it easy” this person became laser-focused on her belief I was being abusive and her desire to become confrontational. After a brief, ridiculous change with this self-righteous child I left in short order; she was toxic and confrontational - because I asked her to be careful.Calling back later to discuss this with the owner she answered and refused to simply take a message but continued to be confrontational and assured me the owner “didn’t want to talk to me”; which sounded more like her decision than his. Finding her toxic at every turn, I hung up and moved on to another vendor. Trust me; dealing with this millennials’ fragility, combativeness, disrespect, and unprofessionalism is not worth it. If you walk in and see a young woman with short, bright orange hair in the work-space and Jose is not there, I’d advise turning around and either calling later or finding another vendor. The same skills can be found elsewhere without the toxicity.
Rich M.: I bought a new pair of hunting boots months back when the price was right. Got them out of the box Saturday to hunt in and a boot lace ring popped out as I was tying them up. ( lesson learned; lace them up firmly when trying them on at the store ) Hard to find a shoe repair place open on Monday but I called this place and they acted like "No Problem". Responded Tuesday morning and the Gentleman took the old ring and had the boot good as new in less than 2 minutes. May not seem like a big deal to alot of people but it was a whole lot cheaper than a new pair of boots. I drove down there from St. Charles and I would and will do it again if ever in need of their services.
Linda Markowitz: Their work is super. I’ve had a leather jacket repaired and a long wool jacket made shorter. The work is superb and very affordable!
John Lippard: They do great work and get things done promptly
Matt Higgins: They were able to fix my slide while I waited. Expensive tho. $20!
J G: Nice people who do great work. I took a cracked and worn laptop bag in for a refresh and it turned out great!
Kevin Childers: A serious leather and shoe shop. Friend needed some heavy stich work done and they are the only place we could find that could handle the work on the southside of the city and county. quick one to two day turn around is greatly appreciated.

Bob Stevenson's Shoe Repair: what do users think?
John M. Scheller: I had Bob repair a pair of Sambas and after several months the soles came loose and detached. Upon this discovery, I thereafter took them back into his shop and showed him. Bob stood behind his workmanship and provided a warranty on his labor and materials to repair them again. Bob is a fair and good businessman that has been in the shoe repair business for many years. I highly recommend that you seek Bob Stevenson’s Shoe Repair shop out if you are in need of shoe repair services.
Alex Hall: I went at 5 and they weren't open. Not sure what the actual hours are.
Caya “Grace O'Malley” Aufiero: Love this little shop! Cash only friends, but he does a fabulous job.
Chris Uelk: Honest, quick, and kind. Great work and price.Thank You, Bob
Donny Shoes: The shoe guy is the best in St. Louis..
Kenneth Warner: Bob does great work, has quick turnarounds, is very personable, and his shop is very cool. I highly recommend it.
Katie Oberhelman: Bob was able to fix my very worn down heels that I thought could never be saved, and only charged me the base fee. He is so kind and personable. He really puts time and effort into his projects and goes above and beyond for his customers. He even waited 20 minutes past closing for me so that I could pick up my heels the day they were ready. Best shoe repair in Missouri!!
Rodney Slinkard: Critical:Professionalism
Britta Janssen: I can't say enough positive things, Bob repaired a really beat up pair of boots for me that now look like brand new. There were full holes in the soles and the heels were so worn down, a whole edge was gone. I wish I had a before picture, they looked so bad. I'm so happy with them now!! Bob also fixed the insoles and gave them a nice cleaning. A year ago he already repaired a pair of leather shoes for my husband, so I can also speak for the longevity of his high quality work. Super fair prices, quickly done, nice, old-school store and the sweetest interaction, I would recommend bringing your shoes here to let Bob work his supreme cobbler art on them!
Victor Mitchell: Bad Service
Leia Zumbro: Bob's awesome! He's re soled frye boots for me , they were like new!!! I have a bunion on one foot, he stretches all my shoes for my after looking at my feet and how they wear. He's the best, so glad I found him!
Kristina Marie: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueBob helped me fix a pair of leather sandals I had that were scratched up in a few places, and they look good as new! Extremely pleased with the price, results, and turnaround time. Will definitely be back if I need another pair of shoes worked on!
Oliver Le.: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueBob is the kindness person I’ve never seen before. He is the only Cobbler still doing shoes repair in Missouri, he takes care good job for my boots and teaches me how to protect them. Thank a lot for this Man.
fran jones: Great quality
Kevin Setchfield Lenox: Best shoe guy around!
唐老爸: Experienced shoemaker great customer service. Knows his stuff and will make a fair honest assessment of the project. Will use again.
Alex Goetten: I found this shop on Google, and based on the reviews I took some Red Wing slip on boots there. Bob did a great job on my boots. You can easily recognize that he knows his stuff and has seen it all. I told him my boots were no longer as comfortable as they used to be, and that they started squeaking. He knew exactly what the problem was and told me how to fix it. It wasn’t cheap, but quality work never is. He essentially took apart the whole boot, rebuilt them and then resoled them. The repair work made the boots almost brand new in my opinion. Now I can get another ten years out of these boots instead of having to buy a new pair. That is the good thing about buying good boots. Buy Union Made, Made in America, take care of them and they will take care of you. And when they do need repairing, take them to Bob and he will fix them for you!
Wes Schnitker: Bob is the best cobbler in Saint Louis. Every time I’m in the time flies as we have long great conversations and the work done to save my favorite pairs of shoes is unmatched.
Jane Schlake: Wonderful little shoe repair shop close to Bevo Mill on Gravois.Bob was very friendly and he fixed the strap on my purse while I waited.I will be back sometime soon.
Jeannette Brown: Great service & friendly
Chris Vahlkamp: Candidly, I find Bob to be rather abrupt and finicky. I've had him repair multiple (about 8 pair) of $300+ shoes and while the work was fine, the prices were literally double the highest estimate I could have imagined. Literally 66% of the cost of a new shoe. I don't begrudge anyone making a living, but I felt robbed each time. I go out of my way to be nice to people, and Bob has consistently been rather persnickety with me each time. I won't go back again. He's not rude, he's just odd, and turns away business at the drop of a hat.
