Saint Louis Drum Lessons: what do users think?
Gretchen: Steve is the best! He wants your kid to learn how to play drums but also have lots of fun while doing it. Cannot recommend him enough!
Natalie Rolwes: Steve is a great drum instructor! As an adult learner, I find his teaching style to be easy to follow, effective, and fun. I began playing in January and have progressed so much in a few months thanks to him.
Lela Anderson: Although I’m a female and a more advanced student (both in age and years playing:)), and I’d lost my motivation to play at all, Steve shows me things that inspire me and make we want to play again! And he always just treats me like just another drummer, which I respect!
Ryan Fowler: Steve is the best! He’s super patient and adapts your lessons so you’re getting the most out of them. Before I started working with Steve, I had been playing drums most of my life, but was completely self-taught and had reached the limit of how good I could be on my own. Within 2 or 3 lessons with Steve, I was a noticeably better drummer than from years of playing on my own. If you’re looking to learn how to play the drums and Steve has an opening, I promise you won’t regret it!
Abby Lapides: Steve is a great teacher! He's great at pushing me to progress without it being stressful. He also makes learning the theory easy and interesting. I leave every lesson feeling successful and like I've learned something.
Michael Moore: Want to learn to play Drums????🥁When Drum HQ in Maplewood closed Steve there was a void for learning to play drums. Steve created Saint Louis Drum Lessons to fill that void. I have had the pleasure of working with Steve for the past few years and he has challenged and motivated me into becoming a better drummer. I’ve been able to have fun and develop my skills and confidence as a drummer. Want to learn Rock, Hip Hop, or maybe even Jazz? How about learning to read music. The setup he provides is exactly what you need to start learning and improve your skills(with practice of course). Prices are affordable and Steve is willing to try and work with your schedule. I highly recommend his services.
Jimmy Rizzo: I had essentially no experience with drums or playing music at all. At 24, I decided to check around for local lessons for drums since I’d always wanted to play something. All experiences before learning with Steven (school band for a couple years, online guitar tutorials, etc.) simply didn’t stick. From the first day I walked into Steven’s drum shop, I was hooked. I’ve never had this much fun learning an instrument. The setup is great. He has two drum sets, so you can play along together. This setup helped me feel a lot more comfortable playing. Plus, it allows lessons to move seamlessly since you both stay on the set the entire lesson. It’s also very helpful to have him as a reference for your playing. I can’t imagine rotating back and forth on the same kit or learning how to drum on a practice pad. The pads have their place, but you learn to drum on a drum set, and Steven’s setup is perfect for that.If you’re interested in picking up the drums, Steven is a great guy to learn from. He knows drums inside and out, and he’ll steer you in the right direction. The worst that could happen is you’ll find out you hate the drums (unlikely in my experience). The best that could happen is you’ll have a ton of fun learning with Steven, and you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for what drumming is and how it acts as the foundation for the music people love. Not only that though - Steven is a great guy to be around whether it’s you taking the lesson or your kid. Steven’s my drum teacher, but like any great teacher or coach or mentor, he’s a great influence to be around. I’ve finally been able to pick up the drums with his help, but he’s also been an extremely positive influence in my life on and off the drum stool. Give it a shot!
Heidi Bernadt: My 8 yr old has been taking lessons with Steve and is loving it. He frequently says he wishes he could go more often and always wants to stay longer. My son has been progressing well and it is all thanks to Steve!
Mark Miller: Steve is an Awesome teacher. I have only been taking drum lessons a little over three months now, and can already play music with my friends. He is always challenging me and pushing me to go further. Steve is also a great guy and I am proud to know him.
Todd Roberts: Saint Louis Drum Lessons are amazing! I have been taking drum lessons from Steve Lord for about a year and a half now and he’s simple amazing! He truly is a teacher that cares about his students! He is patient, caring, smart, knowledgeable, and kind! He also truly differentiates his instruction for his students! He challenges me, but he does not frustrate or overwhelm me! He also is encouraging to me! Recently, I was asked to play a couple of songs on the drum set at church in our praise band. I was reluctant at first, but after talking with Steve and getting the encouragement I needed and also some much appreciated help from him, I now feel well prepared to do this! Wow, what a great person and an awesome teacher! If you are interested in learning how to play the drums please check our Steve Lord and St. Louis Drum Lessons!
It’s Like Watching Paint Dry: Steve is a wonderful teacher for my 14 year old son, he is very talented and professionally accomplished- our experience with Steve has been more than satisfying- he handles himself very professional and extremely polite - Steve is very considerate when we have a schedule change , and he always make sure we get our lesson made up - I strongly recommend Steve as thevl teacher your searching for , he will not disappoint youSincerelyAngelaAnd Kace
JT Williams: Steve is very patient, has a good sense of humor, has not forgotten that you do not rapidly go from crawl to run, goes at your pace, and genuinely makes you feel like he is glad you are there. I have already recommended him to others and will continue to do so.
Allie Kinghorn: Steve is such a great teacher! He does a great job building your foundational skills, while also challenging you. He also wants to know the types of things you’re interested in learning, and has you pick out songs you like to play along to. So glad I decided to take lessons, it’s been a fantastic way to get back into something that I love.

Danny K: Devon listened with respect and helped guide my grandson to better understand his lessons
Ethan Winograd: Positive:QualityI’ve been a student at STL Rock School for close to ten years and I can’t recommend it enough. Over the years, I’ve been able to build incredible relationships with other talented students and instructors alike. I can safely say that being a part of STL Rock School bands and lessons has made me the person I am today.
Daniel Bradbury: This place is hella dank lol
Athena Watts: Jared is super nice, enthusiastic and welcoming! I am learning guitar and Julie is so amazing! She’s extremely knowledgeable, an amazing player, and a phenomenal teacher! I recommend STL Rock School to anyone serious about learning an instrument!
Penny Nuernberger: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMy daughters taken lessons at many different places and I have to say she has grown the most at STL Rock School. The staff and owner are great, professional and know how to help kids be the best they can be! Best place in St. Louis for music and bands!!
Kellie Lightle: We’ve been going to Stl Rock way before that was even the name! My kids started out when they were in preschool and we are still rocking out but these days it seems like we are jamming with family! The staff and owners are extremely friendly, helpful and professional while still having fun! They’ve even gone virtual during some of the tough times during Corna virus! If your kids love music then they will absolutely love Stl Rock!
Kevin Daniels: The owner really cares about the kids, and obviously loves his job. The staff are all amazing. Whether you want to learn how to play an instrument (at any age) or want to learn how to rock, this place is great. I cannot recommend it enough!
PCP: Awesome environment, super friendly staff, top notch studio and equipment to take your experience to the next level. Marty is the most patient instructor I've ever worked with on anything, glad to have met him!
Bryce James: Critical:Professionalism,Quality,ValueU have other options. Unprofessional, humiliated by this outfit. Go elsewhere!
Patrick Gebhard: My two sons did a two week camp at STL Rock School and we're planning on doing a one week camp later this month. One played drums and one did piano. They had almost no experience going in. They are much improved and more importantly really enjoyed the camp. They loved their teacher, Devon. With COVID being a concern, they kept the students in groups of 4-5, did lots of sanitizing, and everyone wore masks all day. They had a concert on the last day in the parking lot that was cool for the kids to experience. We'll be looking to get the boys scheduled during the school year for afternoon lessons and/or return next summer for another camp.
Trent Duffey: This was an awesome place to be in when I went here about 4-5 years ago, and it looks like the teachers here, as well as the kids have a blast making music. It was a great experience, and it helped me get to the level of musicianship that I am at right now. Thank you for all of your work and support. And also, the place looks like it has made strides to improve the quality of the equipment, and the cleanliness of the building.
Joshua Wills: Couldn't be happier with Dave Simon's Rock School!!!! All of the teachers there are very helpful and kind to my little dude!! Top notch!!!!
Modi Weiss: My 6 years old son love kids rock and my older boy plays in the school band and take private lessons. Great teachers, fun and professional.Highly recommend

Leib: My 13 year old sister had her birthday party at the Rock School, and I could not be more satisfied with the facilities, the stuff and the equipment provided. If I could give more than 5 stars I wouldn't hesitate. Highly recommended
Karen Bland: Such a great place for my young kids to get their first exposure to music. We loved kidzrock and now are enjoying the Junior Rockers program - I never imagined my shy son would actually sing a song on stage! The program is fun and builds confidence in kids, for sure.
Sydney F: Rock School is great! I loved taking my guitar lessons here and joining a band! It's definitely the best "extra" activity I've ever done. Such an amazing, exciting environment and welcoming place!
Keri Simon: Dave Simon's Rock School is an awesome program and has really changed my sons life. They have a very thorough program for guitar lessons and drums, piano etc. We're new to St. Louis and so many people raved about Dave Simon's. Cool rock band program too

Joseph Pastor Music Studio: what do users think?
Sam Eichhorst: While Joe was teaching at my highschool, he pushed me to be the best musician I could be. I did not know how to read sheet music when I played piano in the school band and Joe helped me through it. I since have focused on drumming where Joe has helped me out a lot. If you are passionate about music and learning how to play or right it, Joe will push you the extra mile that no other music teacher will ever math. Joe is an amazing musician and he is very passionate about what he does, and he can make you feel the same way.
Joseph Pastor: I'm great!
Sarah Gibson: I always wanted to learn guitar and finally started lessons about a year ago. I've learned several songs across genres am enjoying being able to pick up the guitar and figure them out. Joe is super talented and helps me work through all of the beginner hang ups that happen with strumming, picking, and reading tabs.
Sam Nichols: Joe is a great music teacher. I have 2 children with him and he is great with both of them! He teaches them each want they want to learn and deals with their individual tastes and learning styles great!
Lydia Deterding: Joe is an amazing teacher! My daughter looks forward to her lesson every week. He teaches through fun rock songs. He is very thorough with post-lesson notes as well so we always know what is going on. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a way to get your child excited about music!
Andrew Skillern: Joseph is extremely knowledgeable about many instruments and is very patient with the kids. My son loves taking lessons with him.
Christopher Emke: My son, a HS senior, has been studying drum set for years under other teachers. Through the years, I’ve listened in on more than one of his lessons. My son was encouraged to reach out to Joe for a focused drum clinic to assist in honing a competitive edge for All State Jazz auditions. I listened in on the hour lesson to maximize the value by taking notes. What I witnessed was nothing short of extraordinary.Joe was able to concisely instruct to each required style, weaving together a history lesson as well as concrete improvements to technique. For example, he talked about how the samba play style related to Carnival in Rio and how that tradition emphasized specific drum sounds when translated to drum set. This context made the learning come alive, which translated to improvements I could hear immediately. In the week that’s followed, those influences are still present in my son’s playing.
Tom Waters: I decided to learn how to play drums at 40 years old, and Joe has been outstanding to learn from! Joe teaches with patience and precision and the progress I’ve made is undeniable. Could not recommend more!!
Chris Lutker: My daughter and I started lessons with Joe a couple months back and we could not be more pleased with our progress. Joe takes his time to help me and my daughter understand music theory and composition through our favorite songs. We have taken other lessons that just taught you systematically out of a book but Joe takes into account your personal musical tastes and preferences and customize lessons according to those which makes it fun, engaging and enjoyable. Joe understands his role, is passionate about teaching, and is a heck of a partner to jam with!
The Groove Is Free: I’ve had the pleasure of being Joseph Pastors percussion student in a college setting as well as guitar student at his studio. Hands down some of the best instruction in music I’ve ever had. Joe is a wealth of knowledge not only in the playing of music, but also the history and I’ve left every session we’ve had with a renewed excitement for music. Schedule a lesson! You will not be disappointed!
