Becca Marti: we waited 45 mins for our food to come out. not an exaggeration. he said it was because of the people who placed an order before us. still doesnt excuse the wait though. the waiter also didnt check on us within that time. the chicken and waffles was like $14 and it is such a tiny morsel of chicken compared to the thick waffles.Food: 4/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Wickedly Purrfect: Pros-not a long wait time when I joined the wait-list. Wait staff was attentive.Cons-menus were sticky. You can't order from lunch menu on a Sunday. Price are a bit higher when compare to other brunches. The food was okay.
Frank Catanzaro: Great food. Try the Make a Grown Man Cry or Tim and Biebs. Can't go wrong with either. Add a side of French toast or pancake too.My advice is to skip the wait and head straight for the bar. Plenty of seating usually. Have to give props to the bartender, Lindsay, she makes the best smoothies. So if you're starving be sure to get one of those too.
Cord Blumenstock: How, how have I not heard about this place sooner!?!? I'm a breakfast lover, and they knock it out of the park! Noor Issa: Such a nice brunch spot. The food was delicious and the service was quick and flawless. The workers were very kind and friendly. I absolutely recommend this spot.Recommended dishes Nutella, Fried Egg Sandwich, Breakfast Burrito Crepe, Arugula, Nutella Crepe, Breakfast Sandwich, Side of Breakfast Potatoes …More
veronica king: The Manager this Saturday afternoon just cursed me out. Unacceptable behavior.
Jamie Haruska: Brunch was amazing! There were multiple vegan and vegetarian options, as well as traditional meat choices. The food came out quickly, the vibe was on point, and the staff were friendly. We got the veggie scramble, goat cheese/ mushroom crepe and a half order of the vegetarian biscuits and gravy. All was reasonably priced. We didn’t have cocktails but they looked amazing.
Jafer Abbas: Waited 10 minutes at entrance was never seated. Went across the street to Sen Thai 10/10 better experience.
P L M: Food: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5More
Quirin Rall: Nice place to have breakfast. Good selection of food, perfect quality and a good price. You are sitting in a loft style designed hall, which makes it a bit noisy - so getting there well rested is better. I love the coloring and funny paintings - it must have been pro designing that restaurant. Service is Standard, nothing to remember.
Logan Wertin: I absolutely love the food here. The pancakes are huge and the drinks are delicious. The service is mostly good, but I'm more focused on the food at a place like this.
Ben Pavlovits: If you know anything about cooking, you're not going to like this place. Eggs are simultaneously dripping with oil AND overcooked. The avocados were hard/inedible. And in my veggie omelet, I recognized random bits of other misc. omelets, like chorizo and bacon-- which isn't gross by itself, it's just indicative of the fact that they don't clean their pans. This is all made worse by the fact that a tea bag costs $5. For those that don't drink tea: EXPENSIVE tea is like .50c a bag at the grocery store. Everything here is of the lowest possible quality with some of the highest prices in town.
Johnbosco Okpala: Nice brunch selectionFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Arthur Greenup II: We had one of the best breakfasts in St. Louis. Their omelets are to die for. The staff was helpful, our server Danny really made the experience here even better. Happy and joyful. Get up. Go there. Eat good.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Mike: Great sourdough toast. Great gravy. Good eggs. Check your silverware, plates, cups, etc to make sure they are clean.Food: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Biscuits & Gravy, Gravy, And Gravy, Rooster Slinger, Toast …More
Waifu._. Material: The crepes are very rubbery 🙄
Peter Jackson: Good standard American breakfast place. I highly recommend the biscuits and gravy. If you ask for scrambled eggs, they will come runny even when you ask for them hard or well done. I have sent them back every time to be cooked more. Fresh grapefruit and orange juice, wonderful.
Linda Sherwood: The worst biscuits and gravy I have ever had!!Extremely odd flavor. Biscuits were hard!I was really looking forward to a great breakfast and was extremely disappointed!!On the plus side, our waitress was really good and took care of our unhappiness with our food.
Ryan Leigh Runyon: With a high ceiling, cheerful yellow seating, graffiti-type chicken art, and egg-shaped globes on the lights, Rooster has a relaxed atmosphere from the moment you walk in. There's a huge u-shaped community table that was surely a bar in a previous life, along with tables and booths. We've noticed that some restaurants here provide glasses and a carafe of water at every table (or every two chairs along a community table), which is especially nice while you're waiting for a server just after being seated. We had breakfast/brunch here two days in a row - it was that good! Between the two of us, we had the biscuit and gravy, the stuffed French toast (the thickest I've ever seen), and we shared the scramble with bacon, goat cheese, arugula, etc. both days. The scramble is, without a doubt, something we will try to replicate at home.
Debbie Einsteder: Food was ok.Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
EVE Mc Donald: Loud food was just ok..Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Kelsey Jo: Food was pretty good, but service was severely lacking and it was extremely overpriced . I definitely don’t recommend going on a busy day like I made the mistake of doing.
Amnon Nachshon: Thank god the food was good because the rest was ok. They only open at 8am so there was a long line outside and I can’t imagine the pressure in the kitchen. Maybe that is why the food took so long to arrive.
Emily Scott: Overpriced mediocre crepes

Patrick Dieter: The best grits in the Midwest! My favorite brunch spot in STL with a diverse menu that can satisfy all eaters. The poached eggs are phenomenal. Also a great staff, the owner and GM are very personable, and the bartender and waitress never have a drink empty. Food always comes fast! I prefer the Gravois vibe to midtown.

Yolanda Mcgill: I’m sitting here on Mother’s Day’s (with my daughter who brought me here) and my waiter never got my order right, and my breakfast was served separately because he didn’t remember what I ordered… I’ve already eaten my breakfast and now comes my French toast which is the second item that was forgotten… maybe he should have had a note pad!!! Food tastes ok.Parking: Pretty convenient parking easily accessible
Beau boy: Excellent breakfast spot on Gravois!!! El Ranchero was awesome! My companion said the best omelet she's ever had! Great fresh vegetables and flavorful delicious well cooked beans. Highly recommended!!!
Oniel Polanco: Is a bid expensive . Good flavor. Although. The shashuka was. More like a soup of veggies. Thou … something changed there
Nicole M: throughly enjoyed our meal here. the food was tasty, staff was nice, and the environment was very cute. would love to come back again.
William Hopper: Busy place, but not so busy that there was a long wait. Wait staff was very pleasant. The presentation of the food matched its flavor which was amazing. Definitely would recommend this place!
Michael Moussa: Food was alright but wasn’t worth the 1.) wait 2.) the price 3.) The serviceThe waitlist system is archaic. No phone number writing or online resy/texting system. Me and 20 others huddled shoulder to shoulder in the small front room waiting for our names to be called. The server forgot our coffee and water 3 times then made weird jokes.Wait for food was ~45 min. I’d give the smoked pork belly Benedict an 6/10. The pork belly itself was good but the rest of the dish didn’t have much flavor. The Chakchouka is unique and an 8/10.Was super excited to try this place from all the recommendations and I really wanted to like it.
lafayettecatering: 16.00 for Cornbread and Gravy!!!
Ray Hendershot: Another great meal here but I do have to say the pricing has increased making it a little hard to stomach.Mimosa, French Toast, and Bacon was $38 with tip.Eggs gonna have to be more of a treat brunch instead of a regular occurrence. On the flip side the staff is really quick and friendly. The food is wonderful quality and bursts with flavor.
Kasey Miller: They have a small menu but what I had was very good! It's pretty tightly packed in there and our waiter didn't really say much.Food: 5/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Smoked Pork Belly Benedict …More
Keletso Thaga: Beautiful spot inside a remodeled historic building. Great breakfast and lunch choices. I ordered Chackchouka. Filled me upParking: Plenty of parking next to Studio and Street ParkingWheelchair accessibility: Small Elevator
Brooke Mollison: My fiancé and I went here for my birthday. We chose this place because of the menu and it was open on a Tuesday morning with alcoholic drinks (birthday celebration). Such a cute place! And the food was amazing! As well as the staff! I had the breakfast tacos and my fiancé had the El americano meal. Everything was delicious!!! Will definitely be back!
Daniel H: I'm leaving a review so that when they eventually find out that there are some incredibly addictive substance inside of those pancakes that I can say I called it.There were five people at my table, we each ordered something different, and we all tried everybody's dishes. Everything was amazing. It doesn't make sense. It was so good.
Dorothy Widelka: My family and I were visiting from out of town and were excited to try out this breakfast restaurant based on all the positive reviews we read. We felt extremely misled and would not recommend eating here. My group of 4 was seated at a table that only had 3 chairs, and the server walked away without even getting another chair. We had come in about 20 minutes after they opened, so it was not too busy within the restaurant.Groups that came in after us were able to order their food before us, receive their food before us, and pay before we were even given our food. We waited over 45 minutes for our food and we had to chase down our server to ask him how much longer until our food would be ready. When we finally received our food, it was cold, the French toast was soggy, and the breakfast tostada was dripping in oil. We would have asked the server and tried to get our food situation worked out, but we could never find our server until it was time to hand us the check. He dropped off the check in a hurry and quickly without ever asking how our food was, if we wanted the bill to he split, or if we wanted any refills on our coffee or waters. Overall, our food was cold, bland, and far too expensive for the small portions. I had high hopes for the eggs, given the name of the restaurant, but I have honestly made better poached eggs at home. It was extremely disappointing and not worth all the money that we spent. :(

Chris' @ The Docket: what do users think?
Jazzmine Johnson: Yummy drinks, great tasting food, cozy environment
Mike Romeo: Was there on memorial day for breakfast - one of the few open places in downtown for breakfast. Was alone and assigned a place at the bar. Service was quick and friendly. The place is run professionally and efficient - a lot of food comes out of the kitchen.Menu is rather small and for breakfast offers typical American choices - not too ambitious...missing healthy and fresh options - also missing clear labeling regarding vegetarian/ vegan food options. Coffee was free refill.Would go there again and would recommend the place to any party looking for a conventional American breakfast. No place for adventure-seeking foodies.
JD Pearson: I enjoy the breakfast all the timeRecommended dishes Belgian Waffle …More
Cody Cummings: Let me start by saying that Chris’ is great option for diner style menu items if you’re in the downtown area, and don’t mind a short walk to eat there. They are also big on mimosas with 9 different kinds on the menu, so it’s great if you’re grabbing brunch with friends.I tried the Chris’andwich, a highly customizable breakfast sandwich that reminds me of a sausage egg and cheese croissandwhich from BK, but actually good.I also tried the Cali Eggs Benedict and the poached eggs were cooked pretty close to perfect. The hollandaise sauce was a little on the salty side, but overall it was pretty good. The smoked chicken grits were heavy and tasty, but it’s a big portion, so make sure you save room.Overall it was an inexpensive meal that was fast, filling and well made. Definitely worth stopping by for a Sunday breakfast or during the week for a quick lunch.
Meredith McAdam: Excellent brunch and friendly staff! It was great!

Dana Herbst: Last week we came down town for breakfast and a trip to IKEA, ended up in a finder bender on Grand and we asked the responding officer who had the best breakfast in the area and this place was his response. The atmosphere is nice, staff wasn't overly friendly, but not unfriendly either.Food however was great. I had the summer omelete with hash and French toast. The amount of cheese to ingredient ratio was perfect in the omelete, hashbrowns are decent, however toast wasn't really toasted. French toast was tasty, didn't finish it, but took it home and did later (I never eat my leftovers)The big guy had a country omelete and the kiddo cheesy eggs, bacon, and cakes. Strawberry lemonade was good, but not the best I've ever had.Would definitely come again. Limited lunch menu.
Cade Long: Excellent costs. The atmosphere and service was amazing and friendly and just felt like Saint Louis. The only recommendation I have is more vegetarian and vegan options. Aside from that, excellent choice for breakfast.Recommended dishes Mediterranean, Short Stack Pancakes …More
Troy Harris: Little bit of a wait to get in, I usually won't wait for food. I'm glad I took a chance and stuck around. Delicious food, generous portions, great service and an early bar make this place worth waiting for. Next time I'm in town I'll eat here again.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Neil Jones: Amazing Bloody Mary Mix. Tasty breakfast fried rice. I don’t know what they do to it but it is great and when you put the chili sauce on it, it brings it to another level. The wait staff is great, too. (Brenda)

Half & Half: what do users think?
Katy Coronel: Dine in for brunch today for the first time.Arrived & there was quite a few people ahead. So we waited patiently. Got sat about 15 mins later (no issue at all) the issue occured when the server took over 10 minutes to greet us. We continued to wait, food took over 45 minutes to get served. Upon it being served, it was cold. I understand there was people ahead but we also constantly had to ask for refill on coffee & water.Very disappointed, definitely won’t be returning.
Veronica Lafarga: Amazing food and service! Have you ever seen a more beautiful latte?
Sara Line Frisk: On our road trip, we received an email from Travel & Leisure on the best US brunches…and realized that Half & Half was just a stones throw away from our stay in downtown St. Louis! Decidedly, being avid brunch goers, Half & Half made our list of must-dos in our short visit and it definitely delivered. 💕Plenty of street parking upon arrival, though, I should note that we arrived just a few minutes after opening and it was already abuzz with families and dates. Note to make a reservation or prepare to wait (it is worth it).The interior is farm-house cozy with modern decor, edison light bulbs and the like. Menus are served on note book paper-like card stock with excellent descriptions of the tasteful goodies to come. We ordered mimosas (this is the best kind of mimosa with a hint of OJ if you know what I mean 😉) and lattes (pretty good, a little milky). For bites - a more classic French toast (one of the better French toasts that I have ever had, fresh berries could have been a nice addition though) and a BlackBerry cheese cake French toast (simply divine, creamy and fresh) - both were excellent.Overall, this mom and pop place has a homey type of atmosphere with lots of regulars which is always nice to experience the local food and culture scene while passing through. We most certainly extend our recommendation to Half & Half.
Stephen Eck: Wonderful breakfast place for a peaceful and flavorful bit of St. Louis heaven. I had the steak hash with two eggs over easy. It was fantastic. Easy parking on the street if you get there early and more parking in back if you don’t.
D Hefner: The food was great, and the establishment was clean. We went on Mothers Day weekend, and they were overwhelmed. The service lacked as well as the air. It was hot, but eventually, they cut on air and it helped the experienceFood: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More

Ranelle Rigney: The menu says it was the first pancake house in St Louis, and it looks like it;but that is part of its charm. The service was a little slow, but the restaurant was bustling and not enough servers. (There was a help wanted sign out front.) Once our server arrived she was so much much fun to talk to. I had Blueberry Pancakes with no sides or meat and I did not need it after eating 3 pancakes swimming in blueberry compote and butter. My friend had the short stack and bacon and reported that the bacon was very good. This is a must when visiting St Louis.

Shelby Graham: It was great food but we received our bill before we received our food. We ordered, sat for 20mins, she brought us the bill and asked us to pay it. Around 15 mins later, they gave us our food in Togo containers.Parking: You have to find a spot on a street where residents already park. It's very hectic 😫

Alexxus Smith: Okay so the place is really cute I love the whole set up especially for the games. BUT the food could’ve been much better considering the price. I’d say the only thing I really liked was the lattes. Me and my friend both got the breakfast trio. The French toast was dry even with the syrup and my waffles were hard as a rock so I couldn’t cut them let alone eat them. I also ordered a side of potatoes which tasted good but they were cold and I had a lot of small cut up pieces that were more skin than potatoes. When we were finished we both had a lot of food on the plate. The server was super sweet and the place has potential but they gotta do way better with the food quality. I don’t think I would come back

Jerrica Jones: I went here on Friday, May 12 for the first time. It’s a really cute place with delicious food and decent prices. I had French toast, lemon pepper wings, breakfast potatoes, and cranberry mimosa. I THINK my waitress’s name was Brittney (sp?). She was really nice.I ended up going again on Mother’s Day with my mom. I’m glad we got there when we did. There was an extremely large party in front of us (and more people kept coming up being added to their party while we were in line).I got in line around 10:25am (opened at 11am). We were seated when we got inside. Keyon (sp?) was our waiter and he was great. The large party was upset because they didn’t get seated in the whole area that we were in and they were very vocal about it. My mother and I and another party were seated by some of the large party and they continued to talk about how they could have had the whole area. It got really annoying, but I commend the staff for not interrupting our (and the other party’s) meal because of this large party. They sat right by us and would not shut up about not having that whole section. They messed up their own brunch experience and not ours because we totally ignored them. I would definitely go back here when I’m in town and I’ve already told others about the food and service.Maybe next time I’ll sit on the swings!

My daughters got the French toast, my husband got biscuits and gravy, I got the fried chicken, everything was amazing. The bathroom was clean and the hot water hot. I would definitely come back again and tell others. The best part was it's a black owned business. Kudos to my sister or brother. Please support. You will not be disappointed.

Dayan McCormick (DayansBalance): I came here for a meeting and we decided to have breakfast. I wanted to come here after researching the young lady that owns this establishment. I loved her story and wanted to support. I ordered the shrimp & grits and turkey bacon with cranberry juice as my drink. My associate ordered the shrimp & grits, waffles and a latte.Food came out very warm which is huge for me and the waiter (young man) was absolutely professional and polite! We will be back for our future meetings.Great job!
