Mercy Birthing Center Midwifery Care - St. Louis: what do users think?
Rickecia Smittie: My first child I had at MoBap , it was beautiful in the end because it was My first child. But I wasn't treated the best. My second child was at mercy birthing center. I felt empowered. I felt in control. I felt Devine , I felt like I could do anything. Labored 30 hours and tore @ MoBap , labored for 4hours and no tears at the birthing center. My experience here has made me sign up for school to be a midwife !!! Thanks so much. S/O to Michelle she helped me deliver my baby and the way she encouraged me to listen to my own body was amazing. S/o to all the staff even the amazing Catherine @the front receptionist desk. May God be with u all
Skyla Barlow: Because this birthing center is in a hospital, I don’t feel there is entirely true midwifery & birthing center practices. I can empower myself to know things about pregnancy & birth, of course, but there is a lot of lack from these experts. I recently started listening to a midwifery podcast & I’ve learned so much I feel like this birthing center could have empowered me with. Deploys practices & interventions without full informed consent to me as a patient.
Morgan Land: I have mixed feelings about Mercy Birth Center. There are both pros + cons to this facility + shared care approach. I would give 2 stars for prenatal + 5 stars for birth/delivery. In a nutshell… I felt like my prenatal care did not meet my expectations. I now understand, that “birth center” does not mean as natural as I anticipated + being affiliated with a hospital there are more processes + procedures that trumps patients desires. I met with all but two of the midwife’s, Marsha + Becky were who I felt listened to + valued. They are the best! I will say that the birth, delivery, + postpartum care FAR exceeded my expectations. Becky + the team of nurses were amazing! The front desk was also always accommodating + efficient which contributes to quality care as well. Honestly, undecided at this point what we will choose for future babes. :)
Joss Hay: The center has done nothing but give incredible service to me and my wife during our last two pregnancies. From the front desk to the midwifes everyone is so gentle, tender, and sweet. They really make the whole experience a joy.No question is a bad one, they are always willing to help, and they are always knowledgeable.Such a gift to be able to have this service available for the births. It made it the best experience.
Natalie Mortimer: Couldn’t have asked for a better experience for the birth of our 3rd! Amazing midwives! Marsha was the midwife for our delivery and she was just AMAZING!
Dassy Neppe: I had 2 babies here after a traumatic labor at Missouri Baptist, it was definitely a corrective experience!! I got the space my body desperately needed, I felt that my wills are being respected and what I feel counts. In the last labor (May 2022) Erin was my midwife, she was beyond awesome! So sweet and caring (I love you Erin❤️) And all the staff from the front desk to every nurse and midwife I met were wonderful and respectful. The recovery, the nursing and my mood were effected dramatically by the labor experience each time. Thank you for letting me have a safe place with such great environment to start a new life!
Jessica Barfield: Compassionate, professional and exceptional care
Olivia Persinger: I had the most wonderful birthing experience. My original birth plan was to give birth in the beautiful rooms at the birth center but things didn’t go exactly how I planned it. I ended up being induced at 41 weeks 1 day, and had my baby a day later. I can’t tell you how amazing my experience was because there are no words to describe how amazing the midwives and nurses are. I gave birth in one of the labor and delivery rooms and my experience was still truly amazing. Maria, Laura, and Michelle are the midwives that I met. They are incredible. Thank you so much to Ashleigh, and MJ the nurses that helped with my delivery and made my birthing experience more than I could have imagined. I wish I could go back and relive that day over and over that’s how amazing my experience was. Thank you all so much.
Codi Holtgrave: We just had our second baby with the Birthing Center and have, again, loved our experience! The midwives and all of the supporting team members have always made us feel supported and cared for each visit. Each birthing experience is different and through each pregnancy of ours issues were addressed, questions and concerns were answered. Our midwives and nurses were there with us during delivery and afterwards and we could not have had a better experience. We have felt nothing but gratitude towards our midwives and nurses ♥️ Highly recommend the Birthing Center if you are looking for a more holistic approach to your birthing experience!
Abby Mae: The Birth center has beeen amazing!!! We have loved our time here at the center and we definitely recommend the center to everyone!
Eva Steffel: Didn’t really take the time to explain, just said they could take me because I had a history of “killer cells”. Killer cells are not scientifically proven to cause harm, it’s a fringe theory.
Miranda Thornhill: Absolutely love the staff and care I received here. From the reception ladies to the nurses to the midwives I always felt welcomed and cared for. I can’t thank them enough for making my pregnancy journey so wonderful!
Felicia Ferguson: I've received all care through MBC and I'm 32 weeks pregnant now. I couldn't sing more praises of MBC. They're so well organized and extremely accommodating. They're friendly and personable. I'm so grateful for my care there and look forward to my birth to follow there in the weeks to come. ❤
Kanay Coleman: Currently leaving their pregnancy assessment center after nurse Karin McCune made a comment about seeing someone before me who ACTUALLY has a viable pregnancy that's past 23 weeks. If you care about your pregnancy at any point before 23 weeks, DON'T GO HERE.
Kayla Gilcrease: I delivered my first child in the birthing center back in 2015 and was very excited to return to deliver my second child, however, since switching back to Mercy in October '21 for prenatal services, I've only had two visits that made me feel comfortable and excited.Michelle mentioned my blood pressure being abnormal as she was opening the exam room door and that made me very uncomfortable and a violation of HIPPA considering there were patients right next door. I did not receive a proper introduction, and this was my first time having an appointment with her so immediately her first impression told me everything I needed to know. Michelle made me uncomfortable the entire visit. I understand that stress levels are higher due to Covid-19 and the lack of staff, but that is no excuse for confidential information to be poorly mishandled by someone with such experience. To make matters worse, at the end of our visit, she proceeds to question my glucose tests after looking through my chart and having to enter the data retrieved during our current visit. It was patronizing and at that point I was disgusted. Some might say that she was taking extra precaution, but again, for someone with her experience, she should know to look at my charts versus asking those questions that raises concern and stress unnecessarily for a pregnant woman in her last trimester. I do not need an apology, but I hope that my request is granted.Ultimately, my experience with Michelle Gragg was very poor and I'd hate for any other patient to experience what I felt today.
Kristy Barnes: This is a public service review. I do think it is really important for those interested in Mercy Birthing Center (MBC) to know about the rule around BMI. In order to be served by MBC, you must have a BMI of 35 or less, no exceptions. I believe that places are entitled to their policies - but I do think it is MBC's responsibility to communicate this to potential patients PRIOR to them spending any amount of time considering them for their birth. I do not see it on the website; my Mercy-affiliated OBGYN did not know to inform me of the policy, and when I called to set up a tour, I was not informed at that time either.A beloved friend of mine made it several steps down the path of considering MBC all to be told in person that she could not be served there. This was a very painful experience for her. Thankfully I remembered this & called MBC to clarify about the policy. If I had not called and asked that question directly, I would have came out for a tour, gone down all those steps all to be told I would not be allowed to use these services due to my body size based on the BMI, which includes no assessment of my overall health - excellent BP, heartrate, exercise 3x/week, etc.If the Birthing Center is not going to be more transparent about this, I do take it on myself to leave a review in hopes to save other expectant women the heartache and wasted time. I know we don't have time and energy to be wasted like that...not to mention the emotional energy of being denied services solely on account of an outdated and unsupported health measure (the BMI)! ❤
Tiesha Gaten: I have reached out to this clinic for months with no response. When I finally got ahold of someone in September they told me that they will start transferring my case from my OB to them. They told me it can take a couple of weeks. About three weeks went by and nothing so I started reaching out again. When I went up there to talk to someone face to face they told me I was too far along to be serviced. I’m so disappointed in the level of service I received. Maybe it’s for the best if this is how they treat potential patients
Slade Luna: We recently moved to the area from Fort Bragg, NC and my wife was looking to the opportunity to give birth here! We had everything set up medical records sent multiple times due to not enough information (literally sent hundreds of pages of medical records) and after going back and forth with the OB coordinator and waiting to hear back for weeks we called and to see if they had everything we needed. Finally after two weeks They told us we missed the window after we have been trying to change over for almost a month with no appointments the entire time. It is sad to say that this organization does not support veteran transition in any way and I am very disappointed that we’ve had this experience. It is more of a business than a birthing center and I hope they change the way of understanding active duty to civilian transition.V/RSlade Luna
Garrett Flint: You could not pay me to put my wife through this place again. We have experienced miscarriages in several scenarios and the way this birthing center handled it was by far the worst, most traumatic experience for me and my wife. We honestly didn't realize how poorly it was handled until we were with a different OB for our next miscarriage. There was no compassion, no sympathy, no time to answer our questions and almost annoyed that we even tried asking questions. Beyond that, they gave us the pill despite being close to the second trimester, instead of a D&C. When our next OB heard that, he was mortified. I cannot express enough the stark difference between the experiences. Never again. Not in a million years.Update:I tried reaching out directly to share my feedback and no one got back to me and the email they shared below isn't even a real one.
Laura A.: I truly believe the intentions are good, but I also believe my experience was not rare here. I was seen a total of three times and was hopeful to have a third and final natural delivery experience at the birth center. Sometimes I get nervous going into hospitals and my blood pressure will elevate temporarily. On visit two, it was elevated. I was told to monitor it at home with no warnings that there would be a “two strikes and you’re out” policy. I showed numbers at home being normal on my third appointment, but was told my wrist cuff was most likely faulty. I have no history of blood pressure problems but was not believed. Labs were ordered to also prove this, which later did confirm what I was saying. My warning is to be prepared to get booted for the smallest of issues because of their fear of liability and to take the lowest of risk patients, (I’m still that). They pride themselves on believing and empowering women, but my experience did not match.
JENAItheMUA ChandraB: I gave birth at St. Anthony’s with my Son and that experience was Horrible. I just have birth to my second child here at Mercy and the experience has been soooo much better. The delivery team was awesome so informative and nice and the postpartum team has been great and patient so far. I’m so happy I choose Mercy!!!

Peaceful Beginnings Midwifery: what do users think?
Erin Cato: I loved Jennifer she gave my great support with my home birth. I would not have been successful without her.
Brian Wulff: Jennifer did a fabulous job. Guided us and knew exactly what to do in even the surprise situations. She went above and beyond while not overextending into where we wouldn't want her to go. She always stayed calm and had a plan while encouraging and realistic. Most importantly she did her best to walk with us towards our goals.
Josh Weight, D.C.: I can't say enough good things about Jennifer and Barbara! They were very helpful with my wife's second pregnancy. The are both very knowledgeable, peaceful, and professional. We highly recommend Peaceful Beginnings Midwifery to anyone looking for an excellent home birth experience.

Jamaa Birth Village - Equal Access Midwifery Clinic: what do users think?
Eboni Boateng: This clinic is truly a gem within our community! From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed and attended to. I learned so much during my apothecary tour and I'm super excited to have received my doula training certification through Jamaa! Tru poured all her knowledge, wisdom and love into us. It was transformative in so many ways and provided not only the practical knowledge a doula needs but also grounded us our culture, ancestry and reproductive justice. If your're trying to figure out what doula training to take I'd highly recommend this one!
kabria johnson: I have a new found love for Jamaa Birth Village ! I took their doula course and I was amazed and full with knowledge that I was hungry to learn and Tru gave it to use graciously. It impacted me so much in a giant way. The knowledge that I learned in their doula class I wouldn’t have found it anywhere else. I left knowing my purpose, new found friendship, culture appreciation, and a hungry to want more. The atmosphere was unmatched and I cannot wait for future classes and events that they have because I will be at every one of them. I also cannot wait to see their apothecary! The herbs she used in the training were amazing. Tru also has a book called the “Moon Goddess Guide Book” and I suggest any woman on any part of their spiritual journey to read it. It was so well worded and spoke to me so much I read it within a day you can truly tell that she put her heart and passion into this book and I’m sure I’ll be reading it many more times and passing it along.
Kimberly Winston: I took her doula class it was life changing for me and so many otger ppl that were in our claas. Thank you Truu you are amazing.
Jawaha Frazier: I really appreciate the help Jamaa Birth Village gave me. I adore they keep they word & helped me when I needed it at this time of need from sending me groceries to helping me with Assistant for me & my children.. I’m very thankful to have them help me & my family.. I highly recommend them..
Charlan W-M: I had the opportunity to participate in a workshop facilitated by Tru Kellman a couple of weeks ago. The workshop was presented seamlessly with vigor, tenacity and intention. Tru fostered a safe space for all participants to speak their truths with a realness and rawness that was parallel to none. I've never experienced this kind of powerful sister circle where all participants were glued to the material. Further, Tru attested to the stark reality that black women are dying at disproportionately higher rates than all other races. We learned the history of Midwifes and their importance bringing healthy moms and babies into the world. We had several opportunities to create solutions regarding increasing the rate of healthy black moms and babies. My favorite tool given to us was laced in creating public policy that procured safe guards and accountability for all participants that handle and encounter mothers during pregnancy and postpartum. If you are every so fortunate to hear Tru Kellman speak please jump at the opportunity but be prepared to leave you're coding switching at the door.
Unknown User (Love All): Very knowledgeable on what I should intake to better my pregnancy. I was sooo dehydrated plus more and she educated me on how to improve in those areas. Place is very homelike. Will visit again.
SonJoria Sydnor: Jamaa Birth Village has been intentional about their support of women's health. Creating an environment that supports the village the way you'd only imagine. From prenatal, to breastfeeding to community support. Jamaa Birth Village is an excellent place to check out.
Eric Devenbaugh: Very nice people here and very happy to help others. Highly recommend you to visit if you are highly needing baby stuff and need help. They really care about getting you what you need if you can not get yourself. They also take donations of fairly new or used baby stuff to help others in the area. Keep up the good work.
Chelsey Oliver: Paid $50 for pre-conception services. Appoinment was cancelled twice by the facility. When attempting to reschedule was not able to contact anyone. Was never contacted by the company again. What hurts is that I was seeking help & felt like I was taken advantage of by the company that is suppose to be built on sisterhood.
myia dixon: Seeing the midwifes there for my pregnancy. So far it's pretty great and the level of care is better than a regular obgyn
Christina Finch: Love the people and atmosphere!

Barefoot Birth StL: what do users think?
Taylor Gibbs: Andi provided me a reiki session! It was my first one and the best intro to reiki. I'm thankful she was my first experience because she is so understanding, gentle and strong. She carries a presence that promotes self confidence and just holds a space for you to remember that you had the keys the whole time! I highly recommend going to her for a session if you are in any state of life. I went during a major phoenix time of transition of my soul, and she aligned and washed my chakras and filled my body back up with light, I'm at a loss for words. These words don't even chistle at the mountain of impact she made in my life. She set me in my seat to prepare me for the ride of my life.
Diamond Spencer: From the moment I stepped foot into Andi's office, I knew she was supposed to be my Midwife. Andi is caring, compassionate and knowledgable. The care I received was better than I could have imagined. My second home birth was absolutely wonderful- thanks to my amazing birth team, I could not recommend a more amazing Midwife.I plan on contacting Andi when we're planning for our next little one!
Abigael Waters: It’s impossible to explain how much we enjoyed working with Andi. I knew as soon as we met her how much we would get along but I was absolutely blown away with her during my birth. She knew exactly what I needed and when and I felt so safe and cared for the whole time!
Angela M: Andi is magical. I had the best possible home birth. And it was all because of her. She cares deeply about her clients and it shows. I cannot recommend her enough.
Megan LaFerla: My midwife, Andi Webb, was absolutely everything I needed along my journey through my pregnancy, labor and delivery, and post partum journey. She talked me through everything, listened when I needed an ear, educated me on everything along the way, and it was truly such a healing journey for me! I felt loved, supported, and encouraged every step of the way. This experience with Andi is what I hope every woman can experience and the only kind of care you can find through and exceptional midwife.
Kristen Abrams: Andi is an incredibly warm-hearted woman and she is amazing at what she does. I started care with her later in pregnancy and wish I had found her sooner. I never felt rushed or uncomfortable at any of our appointments with her. Even though we ended up deciding to transfer to the hospital during labor, I was so thankful that Andi was able to come with us as our doula to help facilitate a peaceful atmosphere and support me through labor. I would recommend Barefoot Birth StL to anyone and everyone I know!
Susi Kuczka: After having a horrible experience with my first birth, I knew I wanted to have a homebirth for our second. I was nervous it wouldn’t be possible as I would be a VBAC. We met with Andi before we started trying to conceive and we instantly fell in love with her! She was amazing before, during and after pregnancy. She was always available when I needed her, always listened to every concern I had and always gave her advice or recommendations instead of dismissing them as part of pregnancy like my OBGYN did during my first pregnancy. I wanted our two year old to be as involved in the birth as she wanted to be, so she would come to every appointment. Our toddler is very reserved with new people, but she really warmed up to Andi quickly and was excited to see her every week! Andi also cared for my husband by asking his thoughts and feelings throughout the pregnancy and postpartum. I was able to get the home birth of my dreams thanks to Andi! She allowed me to labor how I wanted and only gave suggestions when I truly needed them. I even hemorrhaged but she was able to keep the situation under control without even causing me to panic. I truly believe that this birth helped me heal from my first horrible birth and I will forever be thankful for Andi! I will always hire Andi for any future pregnancies and if we don’t have anymore kids, I will always recommend her to everyone!
Lindsey Tuttle: Andi is amazing. Not only is her prenatal, birth, and postnatal care top notch, she has a wonderful bedside manner and a profound insight into the birthing process that makes me wish I’d known her for my first birth, when I had complications arise. For my second birth, I had the same complications came up toward the end of my pregnancy, but this time I had an incredibly knowledgeable, thoughtful, and respectful caregiver who went above and beyond to formulate a custom treatment plan to help me stay healthy and safe until spontaneous labor occurred and I had the natural homebirth I knew I was capable of. Andi was a godsend to my family, and I’m so thankful to have had her as my midwife.
Krystahl McLaughlin: After two hospital, epidural, induction deliveries and a whole lot of research and soul searching, we decided that was not what we wanted for our third baby’s birth. Our natural birth planning journey came with some unforeseen hurdles and we were relieved to have finally found a peace with Andi who was recommended by our doula and other midwives. We were blown away by Andi’s genuine concern and accommodation of our unique family dynamic as our eldest has special needs while also including our other very curious daughter during visits. It truly felt like an entire family experience. The whole time felt like a authentic partnership where she simultaneously informed, supported and empowered. The prenatal care Andi provided was terrific but the true gem for us was the unexpected and unmatched postpartum care. We cannot say enough and are so thankful God brought her into our lives for this beautiful experience.
Sarah Vasquez: I chose to do a home birth for my second pregnancy and Andi was highly recommended. As I spoke with Andi for the first time on the phone I felt an instant connection with her. She was authentic, sweet, genuine, direct and answered all of my questions that I had about her services as well as what to expect when having a home birth. Meeting Andi in person was an even better experience. I was greeted with open arms and right away Andi made me feel welcomed and I could genuinely feel how much she cared about me, baby and even my 2 year old son. She always had mine and babies best interest. She let me know all of my options and supported every decision that we made. I loved that we were able to create such a beautiful bond and relationship throughout the process leading up to giving birth. I felt so comfortable with Andi and knew we were in good care during labor and delivery. During delivery my baby had shoulder dystocia and his shoulders got stuck in my pelvis, but I never once felt any negative energy or fear coming from Andi. She stayed calm and in control and brought our baby boy into the world by using all of her knowledge and intuition during this unique situation. Andi made me feel confident in my ability to birth my baby at home and gave me so much loving and caring support throughout my entire pregnancy and after. Andi has such a special place in our hearts and our postpartum care was beyond amazing!
THAT Girl Named DARYN: Andi is a wonderful midwife! Our homebirth experience was nothing short of a miracle and she was a huge part of that! I really appreciated how much she encouraged me to get prepared for baby before hand. Andi was big on encouraging my husband to wait on me hand and foot as much as he could, for as long as I needed! It was wonderful! He really did and I took her advice to do less in the first few months and I’m glad I did. This post partum experience was completely different than my first two. Im a very grateful mama!
Johnnie Lovely: Where do I begin? Andi! Andi! Andi! …she made my pregnancy so easy and as a first time mom it was well needed. My husband and I wanted a home birth and we didn’t know where to look. I reached out to Andi during half of of my pregnancy and I fell in love with her instantly. She’s so modest, nice, sweet. From our first appointment even to this day Andi has been there. For tips, advice, anything you need. I’m truly blessed to have had Andi as my midwife and I do look forward to have EVERY birth with her!!!!
Jalene: Andi Webb is a miracle worker who happens to bring babies Earthside. She has been our shepherd, our guru in the most transformative experience of our lives. Andi is someone I trust for advice + support and also someone I would want around in the case of an emergency. She's intuitive, empathetic, experienced, and focused. All of her wisdom brought our baby safely into this world and we are forever grateful. We chose to have a natural birth at home, and Andi helped us achieve that. She held space for us to make our own decisions, pre and postnatal, about medical choices for mama and baby. We received medical advice without the pressure that feels common with allopathic doctors. We are first-time parents and Andi has been abundantly patient and generous with her counsel through texts and phone calls. We can't imagine an OBGYN giving even half of the level of care and nurturance that Andi gave to us.Each of our prenatal appointments was thorough and balanced. The office space at Forest and Meadow is calm, comforting, and feels personal. Andi checked on the progress of our baby in addition to the emotional and physical state of both me and my partner. Each session felt therapeutic and nourishing. Andi treated my body and the wombed baby with great care and sensitivity. We never felt handled or rushed. The postnatal visits are where I felt most nurtured by Andi. Each of these visits was at home, and this was so grounding for us as we adapted to our new lives. Postpartum life is tough and we had care for everything-- baby's progress, mama's physical healing, emotional health for both parents, breastfeeding, etc.Andi's wisdom and instincts guided us during labor and she had to made quick, tough decisions. We are all healthy and well and that's thanks to Andi's care. I am deeply grateful for Andi's respect for the mother-baby dyad. We've been so lovingly cared for over the past nine months. She encouraged and empowered me when needed but also held space for me to let my body do what it was meant to do.Thank you, Andi, for guiding us safely and whole-heartedly on this beautiful journey.
Ashley Carlisle: Andi is such a gifted and intuitive midwife. My experience with her as my home birth midwife for my last and final baby was unparalleled. From themoment we met, before I was officially her client, she showed genuine care and compassion for me. Once I was a client, the prenatal care was comprehensive and focused on building a relationship based on truly knowing one another and developing trust. I always felt prepared for what was ahead and informed about my options. Andi was incredibly responsive to all my questions and needs and listened intently to all of my challenges and concerns. She included my partner in our care and, at times, our two little boys. During my labor, she and her backup midwife were totally in sync and never missed a beat. When our daughter was born, you could literally feel the love pour into the room because of the compassionate care of our birth team. The care didn’t stop at birth though. She was a fierce advocate for me postpartum and helped me navigate many issues. When I developed a serious unexpected postpartum complication, she was the first to recognize it and help me get the right medical care before I realized I had any real symptoms. Andi is a true gem and I’m so glad I found her as my midwife!
Paige Johnson: Andi was such a shining light at my home birth . If I ever have another baby, I couldn’t imagine doing it without her. I had my other young children present and they wanted to be involved. Andi was amazing with my kids and included them in the birth space in a way that made me so happy. She was phenomenal at anticipating my needs and just overall held the energy I wanted for my birth. I had some heavy bleeding after delivery and she took care of it quickly and without spreading any fear or panic to me. I could truly go on about how happy I was to have her there.
Kathleen Lamar: I have used Andi’s services with both my births and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough. She is intuitive, patient, calm, and kind with a breadth of knowledge in each step of prenatal, labor, and postnatal care. She would be available by text or phone at any time I had a question or concern, no matter how big or small. Her advice and suggestions were always helpful and I felt secure and safe in my home birth. She really listens and makes you feel heard, an important part of the birthing process. Love, love, love her.
Rachelle Wobbe: Andria was absolutely amazing and a HUGE part of both of my successful labors! She made sure to keep me informed and educated about what was going on the entire time. She empowered my partner and I in our decision making, when we were so overwhelmed with all aspects of the birth. We are so thankful for her expertise, patience, professional advice, and her very genuine loving and compassionate heart. I cannot imagine having any other birth without Andria by our side.
