Melany Darmody: The neighbors were getting their driveway repaved and with the equipment next door I reached out for a bid. The owner John was nice and gave me a reasonable price. He performed the work the next day. I trusted him because, like me, he had a large family and was Christian. Something seemed "off" when he asked for payment in full before the work was completely finished. It was 4th of July weekend and he sited having to leave out of town to visit an ailing mother-in-law. He promised if we were unsatisfied with anything he would make it right. Okay... I paid. After he left, the workers ran out of gas in the roller. They waited about 20 minutes for more gas while my driveway and pad cooled. All said and done, I was not happy. The pad was never smooth. There were some boot marks from the workers and rough ridges along the house foundation. The asphalt along one of the steeper edges sluffed off into the dirt. I called but John said it needed to cure and scuff marks were normal. Fast forward two months later, we had issues with soft asphalt. Our garbage can sank and left ridges. We wheeled a cart with a heavy box on it and left it just outside the garage door. The castor wheels sank deep. We even had a dresser sitting on it overnight until I could bring it inside. The feet sank! AP, or Asphalt Paving, I saw were back in my neighborhood. I talked to the brother who also runs the company. He heard my complaint. He said they would seal my driveway for me and he would be over to see it in a few. He never came. I saw him again the following day. He said he saw it and would have his guys out the next morning. Guess what? They never came. Instead, they packed up and left my neighborhood. I looked them up before I hired them initially but could not find a review. I hate leaving bad reviews, but they are dishonest and I want to warn others. This is hearsay, but I heard they had to come back to fix a different driveway several times. Wish they would fix mine... I supposedly have a 1 year warranty.
