Brookside Toy and Science: what do users think?
Gail Sawrie: This small shop packs a lot of toys and games for people of all ages. We especially enjoy their STEM selection of toys.
K. S. (WannaBGourmande): Such a great little selection of toys... But the real highlight was the gemstone collection, as well as the preserved animals! If your kids like science, this is THE place to be!
NoTjUsThUmAn: Amazing toys and beautiful minerals and crystals I will definitely be returning to buy new ones
Sean Postpichal: Really, really neat place. Do not let me go in there by myself. I'd purchase one of everything. The lady that helped me find my lightup frisbee was very pleasant and willing to help! Can't wait to go back! This place is awesome!
Mark Hoerl: My kid had a great time checking out this toy store. Friendly staff.
Stephanie Simms: This place has every great toy! Love to shop for gifts here, AND they gift wrap. Great people, great shop.
Morgan Campbell: we had a lovely experience there. i was just expecting a childrens toy store, but they had stuff for adults, too. the lady at the front counter was absolutely wonderful and very helpful. will be going back!
Shea Stacy: Real fun store! We bought a kite and a board game here. There are all kinds of fun things to find for kids or adults in this store! They offer gift wrapping which is also nice
Dennis Moore: Cool store for all your science projects
Tom R Baker: My favorite store in Brookside! If you're looking for kids' science toys - this is a great spot to look. Target or Wal-mart is cheaper but this store has the selection and knowledgeable staff to help you find what you need. IMO it's one of a very store in Brookside worth driving in (from outside the neighborhood) to visit. Parking can be a little tricky for this and most Brookside stores. Be ready to walk from your car.
Terry Rodeghier: If you are looking for a present for a person Young old, this place has everything you could want. I lean towards toys and gifts that will challenge the mind and they have many. The staff is wonderful and helpful and hey, they wrap your presents for you. What could be better.
Annette Rasmussen: I used to go to this store when I was a teen in the 70's. Clearly new owners, lol! Filled to the brim with fun toys and rocks and all the other things that makes my soul sing!
Liz Hicks: This was my go-to for exceptional toys and games when my daughter was young...now it's where I get gifts for my niece.
Kelli Webb: One of our favorite stores
Lucille H Douglass: Was overlooked in line for service. Gift wrapping a big plus.
Ben Crosby: I went in looking for a game my wife requested for Christmas and was amazed at the selection for all ages.
Sue Schmidt: I love this place. It's like a movie
michelle girardin: Now that it is under new ownership it is certain more to a toy store and less of a science store. The things I went in to get they don't carry anymore. Very Disappointed in their science election. They should take the science part off of their name.
majormax 37: Very cool place for great kids toys
Shelly Gumula: Such a fun store. Found a present for my niece I know she'll love.
Thomas Arnhold: A very cool toy store. Well-stocked and the clerks were pleasant and helpful

Toy Time: what do users think?
Janessa Russell: My step son loved it! Makes my heart melt!
Nicki Patterson: Employee was extremely rude to us upon entry and refused to let my 18 year old son and his friend enter the store without an adult present. Even if the store policy requires supervision of minors, which is not stated or communicated anywhere outside or inside the store, the level of rudeness and unprofessionalism that was shown by the employee immediately when we entered was completely uncalled for. After I showed up and “ushered” them in the employee then had 2 security guards come in and follow us around. We felt profiled and they left the store in tears because of the direct treatment they received from YOUR employee for absolutely no reason. It was traumatizing for them. It had nothing to do with your unstated policy. Do better. Hire high quality employees and clearly communicate your policies so patrons are aware. I will NEVER return to the store or spend any money on their products.
Heather LaGuardia: So many toysPuzzles books stickers crafts legos costumes dolls and pretend play. You name it they have somethingStaff friendly
Annette Landwehr: In beautiful Crown Center, fun to look at all the toys.
Courtney Barnett: I work here at this store and yesterday my ex boss told me that she had to let me go because my voice didn't have very much energy.. I will never go back in this store AGAIN!!!!
Jesse Stechman: There wasn't much there store seemed empty.
Joe: Store was low on inventory, but its was NICE to walk around in a toy store and browse around. I miss TOY R' US. Bought my son a rain whilst, I don't know where he put it, otherwise you'd have a photo.
Nathan Linnebur: Great stuff for kids and QoL items to make sure your kids don't make a mess 😂
Chantal S: We were refused service due to my daughter, aged 9 years old, not wearing a mask, despite having an exemption, which I stated. They directed us to go to customer service to get a mask for her. I was wearing a mask, but again, my daughter has a legitimate exemption. The store was not busy and we were going to maintain six feet distance from others (though there were three or four employees congregated around the cash register NOT six feet apart). We went across the hall to the Crayola store where they did not question me about my daughter and she was able to purchase a gift there.I’ve attached copies of the mayors order that allows exemptions. This business did not abide by the orders.
Elizabeth Steele: Amazing store my kid that is 9 found a lot of toys that she liked and the prices are Very cheap when my kid saw the store she was really excited the costumer service is amazing’ the theme is very kid friendly and the name of the store is catchy this is an awesome place to be for kids’ we come every year
Chiquita Miller: Great store, items are marked down to 25% Go check them out!
Perla Cazares: There not open on time 🙁
Trey Breshears: Fun to shop around, but items here can get a little pricy.
Chad Spray: Lots of toys but no candy. Still, lots of toys
mary conway: Over priced
April Doak: Cool store but so RUDE!!!! Instead of being greeted at the door there was a woman who looked like could have been the manager telling everyone who came in "If you get something out be sure to put it up!". No please, no hello, no smile! Very aggrivating! Shop where you are appreciated and go elsewhere! SO RUDE!!!
Kasey Baccam: Toy time has so many unique toys; I could have spent hours just checking everything out!
Kristin Griffith: I love the fact that there's still a toy store around! They have a huge selection of any toys you might be looking for.
Heather G.E. Roesch: Found some things that I couldn't find anywhere else. But the were triple the price on some items. Still a great store.
Dongxue Shi: My toddler loves here
William Jay: Good selection & the prices were decent.

The Learning Tree: what do users think?
Courtney Stoppel: The wide variety of products and super knowledgeable staff will have you walking out with the perfect item every time. Just tell them the age of the child you’re buying for and they will show you several options to fit your budget and the child you’re buying for. They also have TONS of games for all ages. A super warm and friendly staff is the cherry on top. My go-to store for children’s gifts and games for all!
Stefanie Estes: Best little local toy store. Well-curated with quality toys, games, and books for kids. Prices for all pockets and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.
Kory Kirkegaard: Quintessential, local toy shop! Super fun and such a diverse selection of toys, books and activities. Fun little door for the little ones too!
Clinton Donkers: Very nice toy store and the employees seemed very helpful.
Caroline Knecht: This store has the most amazing gifts! Sure, you can get a kid a toy from an ad or from a big box store and they will be happy for a bit. But get them something from Learning Tree and it will become a treasured part of their childhood. We have a big age gap in our kids and they have great toys for my toddler, preschooler and big kid. They also make it easy if you are shopping with the recipient to hide a gift on a shelf for payment and wrapping while the kiddo is off marveling at the many delights.
Nick Stoppel: The Learning Tree makes us feel like we have a family member helping us find the perfect gift. On occasion we’ll described what our nephews are into and Jane, Jonny (owners) or any member of their incredible staff are a massive help narrowing down our options - always a hit! If they don’t have it they will find it, which usually makes it our first and last stop.
Sarah C: They have a wonderful selection of items for children. There is something in every corner. They offer gift wrapping that I have yet to take advantage of but hopefully in the future.
Renana Abrams: Love, love, love The Learning Tree! Whenever we are looking for a new or unique game, this is the first place we go. The owners are always helpful and their suggestions are spot on! Thank you Jane and Jonny for taking such good care of us over the years.
Bentonville Brewing: Wonderful people, wonderful toys! So impressed with the selection they have to offer. I was able to get of my daughters Christmas shopping done in one place.
Madison Blackford: I cannot speak highly enough of this place! Not only do they have the latest and greatest toys but you can shop online on their website if you are not local! All year round you can get your gifts wrapped complimentary even if you buy online! I make trips to Kansas City just to do my shopping at the Learning Tree! Last but not least, they have the friendliest staff!
Lauren Levy: We LOVE The Learning Tree! The store is such a fun place to visit with the kids. They love the little door to go in and out of and the variety of toys is amazing! We always find things no other stores around here have. So many unique toys and books to explore! The employees always have great suggestions for gifts and really know the products well!
Adrianne Metcalf: We love The Learning Tree. They have been our neighborhood toy store for over ten years. They are our go to shop for birthday and holiday presents. They are super helpful at finding just the right present for all age groups.
Felice Azorsky: Love everything about our neighborhood toy store. Staff is very attentive. They know their products and always willing to help me find the perfect gift. Excellent selection and always feels good to shop local.
Judith Evnen: Once again, must thank The Learning Tree for decades of excellent customer service, driven by creative and thoughtful offerings for young minds and interest. You will never find more informed, creative, and quality offerings for your children. Customer service is always top notch. Even through pandemic. Never missed a beat. The Learning Tree staff is knowledgeable and helpful in finding just the right, quality thing. They have helped me send packages around the country for children, and “adult children” with a hit every single time! They are my go-to, and always will be.
Sharon Mo: I found the perfect gifts here. Huge selection and the prices are reasonable too. It feels great to shop small and the employees are so helpful and friendly. Free gift wrapping was also a huge plus. Can't wait to go back and shop for myself!
Angela Engel: you should really treat you’re employees better😐
Jane Kohlhase: everything is so expensive! pay your workers more!!
Tammy Spieler: They have A plus people who arevery knowledgeable and amazinglyHelpful. Wonderful store, product.
Tamara Stephenson: Great service and selection....shop local.
james schaefer: Is it a bad thing that I want to go through the kids door with my kids? :) Staff is ridiculous helpful and kind here. Need ideas for a gift for a party? Just ask anyone there. Huge selection of kids toys and games... gift wrapping is offered to, so the perfect spot for a last minute present. Love the selection of STEM gifts.
Wynne Foster: Best toy store in town! This is my go to whenever I need a gift because you can find unique gifts that you can’t find anywhere else. The staff is so friendly and helpful and they wrap your gift so it looks adorable! If you haven’t been... you should!!

Fat Brain Toys: what do users think?
Jim Panek: Called had it saved it till I got there and it was cheaper than Walmart. Very nice place for learning
Jenifer Miller: While this store has amazing toys, the staff is exceptional. They host many free events for young children that are always enjoyable. Just today, they had a free event that I'm sure tested the employees in ways they did not expect. They remained professional and kind to all. I've been going since my child was 6 months old, to now almost 5, with another at almost 3. I remain impressed and loyal to this store and their love for children. Highly recommend.
megan hamilton: Lyle from Fat Brain Toys was amazing to work with. He ordered us a Lego set that we saw on the website. The store called to let us know the set was in and made sure it rung up the correct sale price. Very friendly staff and such a cute store. Thank you for having such great customer service. We will definitely be back!
Penti Menti: Really nice store, toys out for the kids to play with. Very friendly staff.
Jeremy Beacham: Always super friendly customer service here.
Julie Perry: We always find the best toys here!
Eric Leftwich: The best toy store for all your little kids, thoughtful toys and helpful people.
Stephanie (RebelMama9210): My son loves this place for the displays. Toys are over-priced but typical of an Overland Park, KS toy store. Always clean, customer service quality is about what you would expect from most teenagers.
Brenda Jackson: Great selection of intelligent toys!
Kris Kline: Good variety of toys. Great place to look for more unique gifts for kids.
Rose Bowman: Loved all the different kinds of toys and games. Different than department stores.
Nathan Daugherty: Great toy shop! Found some fun Christmas gifts here.
Carole White: I really appreciate the variety of items that actually make a child think or use their artistic abilities.
Ryan Wiedmaier: Much better selection than Target and Walmart. Free gift wrapping! Win for me. Thanks.
Chris Reyes: Good selection of toys that you won't find anywhere else
Margie Thomas: Love it! Great toys! Educational, sturdy, well made, safe!!! Kiddo in my life loves to play with his items from Fat Brain. He started using Whirley Squigz, Mini-spinney, PipSquigzs, Whimzle at three-months. He loved his Roll Again, Oombeeball, Cube, Inny Bin, Dimpl, and Dimpl Wobbles, Sunction Kups,Ringlets,TobblesNeo ,to play with when he started sitting. He got a Spinny Pin and a Spin Again at ten-months and just loves both of them. Last week for his first Birthday he received a Roll Again Tower and he likes discovering that.....but Spin Again is his favorite!!! There has only been one toy, Fruit Friends that didn't grab him but he has a buddy that really likes it....great store!! It is fun to watch him play and also to play the toys with him. Fabulous products!!!
نديم اياد: It is a very special and beautiful place
Kt Anderson: Great staff! They took the time to talk and play with our toddlers while our two year old picked out his birthday present. They even offered stickers and were overall so friendly. It makes a big difference when the employees could stand behind the counter but instead they take the time to ensure our kids have a great experience. Thank you for the extra efforts. So appreciated!
Morris Villarroel: Very nice to shop here. All new looking and water fountains+bathrooms!
David Hayward: Very helpful staff. Great selection.
Sharon Day: Love this place!! Awesome place for unique toys, grandkids love it! Extremely helpful staff too. Was looking for something appropriate for my 3-yr old autistic grandson and they looked up toys for him and we found the perfect gift! They even have free gift wrapping and I saved $5 with my rewards!

Target: what do users think?
Vanessa Guess: Target is ok.
Cj Vaughn: Lots of theft and absolutely no more than one cashier at any given time. Good luck
Monica Roberts: Love Target
Cody: I called every department trying to reach anyone, after no one answered my call to the correct department. No one ever answered. Why would they have phones if they don’t answer them? Absolutely abominable service.
Veronica Kwareh: A very nice Target. They are always so clean with good selections. Items are easy to find. Staff was available and helpful. It was convenient since it was close to the hotel I was staying at.
Tori Simone: we purchased a Nintendo switch for the first time. Of course we bought the game, the extra controller & the console all together. Get home & the console doesn’t work… we decide to just return everything…. Except we can’t.Target apparently doesn’t allow returns on games once they are out of the plastic. It’s “illegal” I guess. Ok, understandable, out of their hands. But here’s the thing… I wouldn’t even be retuning it if you didn’t sell me a defective console. And here’s the other thing… You know this is an exception to the typical return policy. Why was this information not relayed at the time of purchase? Now I’m stuck with a useless, $60 purchase. I talked to 2 people and one of them spoke to their lead. Everyone gave me the same response. “There’s nothing I can do for you.”As a retail leader of 8 years, I encourage you to tell your customer’s when there is an exception to the typical return policy that will prevent your customer from being able to make a return. I would have been happy with a store credit even. But nope. Nothing.
Bonnie Lafond: Nice quiet Target but registers never open and it is a pain to use self checkout w a cart full of merchandise
Robert S: A staff member named Rabia helped me at self checkout. She was so polite and patient. And she went the extra mile to help me use my gift cards when I was unable to do it properly. And the store is nice and clean.
Billie Lindsay: Self checkout is fine, until you need assistance and the person who is suppose to be helping just ignores you. 04/11/2023 5:47pm I walked out and left my stuff at the register. She can put it all up since she failed to assist. Just dumb.
LaQuisha Neal: Michelle was amazing at helping me save $$$…. Now they got rude employees won’t price match and giving people expire baby Milk
R. Lee Martin: The remodeled store looks great. The staff are friendly and fun.
Sara B: Almost every aisle of this store is a complete disaster. All of the price checkers are broken. It’s so unorganized! There are no cashiers. Only a self checkout lane with 15 people deep waiting. But they have 3 employees dressing a mannequin and laughing! What has happened to Target?
Tam W: As I was walking around shopping, looking for certain items like people do I noticed I was being followed by a Target employee suffering from severe facial eczema. She was obviously an employee wearing the usual Target shirt and had the radio clipped to her belt and shoulder. Someone talking to her over the radio with saying, “ keep staying with her.” I ignored the fact she was obviously being told to follow me for some reason. As I turned around she was literally standing directly behind me I could have stepped on her. So I politely asked her if she knew anything about the new hair product for curly hair that Target just got in, because I can’t find it. She said, “I’m not sure what you’re talking about, and she led me to the hand lotions? She then proceeded to act like she was facing the small hand lotions and just walked away!! As I was walking around the store getting my items I came there for, there were several teenagers being loud throughout the store and two middle school boys running around the store! Now do you think anyone of Target staff addressed these issues?!? Not a single one! Let’s make it a point to focus on the person that is actually doing shopping, but taking their time while doing it! Makes sense to me!? NOT! Talk about having your safety priorities backwards! I’m all about quality control if I’m I were the type of person to do that, but I’m not!! Let’s get it together TARGET and train your staff better!!
Kendra Flores: Great experience!
Kristina Coverdell: Ethan in drive up is always on top of it. He knows me by name, always has a smile, and asks me how my day is always doing. He truly cares about his customers, and today he even got outside before I even got there. He was out there with the bags just patiently waiting for me. I did Walmart pick up today for 4 items and it took them 15 minutes. Thanks to Ethan for always making me feel special as a customer instead of just a number. His customer service is so perfect. Thanks again Ethan!!!!
Dey Wlliams: This target is never stocked with anything. I’ve been coming here on and off as a frequent KC for work and it’s such a tragedy they need to get new management or new standards.
Misha Roberts: This store just spent probably a million dollars on a complete store remodel. I've lived here for 8 years in the neighborhood and spend A LOT of time and money at this location. The remodel of the customer service desk was completed with a beautifully crafted "Exchanges and Returns" sign as you can see in this photo I took; however I was told today.... "we don't do exchanges; our policy has changed".... so after a million dollar remodel with a sign that includes your policy..... its now something different. Twighlight ZONE. Seriously.
Tabitha Fjoser: Well stocked with friendly employees. Fast and accurate service on drive up orders.
Allan Wrinkle: Remodeled and they even less men's wear. No dress shirts, slacks or shoes.
Tammy Fleming (Kiwiseekers): After they remodeled they seemed to have taken out all the full service cashiers. Might have to find somewhere else to shop since they do not pay me to be a cashier nor do they compensate me in any way by giving any type of discount for taking on the role of an employee cashier.
Robert LaFrenz: Worse target, rude people and management that doesn't care about the customers at all
