Pene Havens: You need to see 2016 Main before you make any decisions about where to hold your event! We had our rehearsal dinner here - about 90 people. It was a wonderful experience. The venue itself has a unique fun vibe that many of the places we toured did not. It's not a space you need to come in and decorate. Look at the photo gallery and you'll see what I mean. All we did was add centerpieces to the tables and the caterer did their setups and the place looked great! Pat and Jodi were both such a pleasure to work with. They were quick with responses to my questions and had no problem with me coming to the venue multiple times before our event to check things out and go over questions. Our rehearsal at the church ended sooner than anticipated so I called Pat to see if we could start our event earlier than planned and he accomodated us even though it would definitely have been understandable if they couldn't. Don't miss this gem!

Holly Milby: Pat, the owner, was an absolutely amazing to work with. He was quick at responding to my questions and made every idea we had come to life. He even helped us come up with a recipe for our signature drink named after our dog. The venue was beautiful and had everything we needed, including a bridal getting ready suite. Pat and his staff were helpful with flipping the space between the ceremony and reception. They were also great the day of the wedding with getting things set up and in place. I cannot say enough good things about him and his amazing event space.

Margaret Miller: You can stop looking for a venue - 2016 Main is IT!! When we first walked in to this space, I knew right away that I wanted to get married there! It is STUNNING. Exposed brick, hardwood floors, greenery wall, gorgeous decorative white wall, artwork...you name it, they've got it! You probably didn't realize that you want a collage wall filled with formal dog portraits at your wedding, but I can assure you that YOU DO, and 2016 Main has it! We loved this space for so many reasons, but a big deciding factor was because we didn't have to rent any extras! I'm not exaggerating when I say that all we did was add flowers and votives on the tables, rent some linens, and the space looked fully decorated and GORGEOUS! My pictures are beautiful and so so elegant! The owners, Pat and Jodi, will forever be 2 of my very favorite people. They are SO MUCH FUN! They are laid back and will make you feel relaxed and at ease, while also being extremely attentive, focused on details, and quick to communicate. I sent Pat so many questions and changed so many things, and he was always so great about it and responded right away! Pat also acted as our day-of-coordinator. He contacted all of my vendors and arranged everything. I didn't get peppered with any last minute questions from vendors and everyone showed up on time and had everything we needed! Everyone always says that something will go wrong on your wedding day, but honestly, I can't think of ANYTHING that went wrong, and I know that that is in major part due to all of Pat and Jodi's help and planning both leading up to the big day, as well as their assistance the day of! I can't stop re-living the day and looking at our pictures of the venue. Now that the wedding is over, I'm honestly trying to think up a reason to rent the space all over again just to have an excuse to hang out with Pat and Jodi and be surrounded by so much elegance and beauty again. In case I didn't drive the point home, THIS is the venue you want and THESE are the people you want helping you plan! Make your appointment ASAP and go ahead and cancel the others...this is the only space you'll need to see. Take it from the bride who toured 14 wedding venues... ;)

I witnessed this first hand as Pat harassed members of a family members wedding party and kicked people out hours early, just so he could leave early himself.I have attended other weddings in Kansas City, in many event spaces and none have had the event space owner present, calling the shots at your event.Pats expectations are: You pay him substantial sums, conduct the wedding ceremony and leave immediately. It does not matter if you pay for his most expensive packages. I would seriously urge anyone who is considering this space to reconsider their options.

Ashley Meadows: The Vintage House is the most beautiful, cute, adorable, well equipped venue you will ever find. I booked this venue for my daughter's Graduation party. I booked it a year in advance if that tells you anything. The time I paid for was from 4-9 for about $550ish but paid for an extra hour (extra hour $75) and stayed until 10pm. I had balloons set up and a photographer too. You are allowed to bring food and liquor (which I did). You must arrive with an additional deposit in the event it is not cleaned to what is agreed on the contract but if you follow the rules you are good. Parking is great, right next to the patio. Also this place is equipped with everything and I mean everything; chalkboards, easels, command strips, plates, silverware, teacups, tables, cake stands, cupcake stands, serving platters, oven, microwave, fridge, etc. I bought several things that they had for my use already. The site gives a list but I don't think it's complete. Every guest that came to the party commented on The Vintage House and how beautiful it was. I would go back here in a heartbeat. Just look at how amazing it looks in the pictures ❤

Amy Bollard: Incredibly charming venue for small gatherings (family parties, showers, etc). Reasonably priced (a lot cheaper than typical wedding venues) and without the cold, sterile warehouse atmosphere. They provide almost everything from a practical standpoint (all the utensils, serving platter, dishware you could possibly need) so all you have to bring is yourself and food! Highly recommended.

Jessica Ashley: Both my bridal shower and my baby shower were thrown at The Vintage House and I hosted my best friend’s baby shower here as well. Absolutely gorgeous venue and the amount of things provided with the rental is amazing. Being able to display all our food and drinks in beautiful dishes (instead of plastic trays from the store) makes such a difference to an event, even a small one. The house itself is charmingly decorated so there’s no need to bring in a bunch of your own decor. There’s ample seating and lots of little tables to setup various gift tables, favor tables, etc. I recommend this venue anytime I can and can’t wait to have an excuse to rent it again!

The Bardot staff had the place looking wonderful for the big day and helped accommodate our needs throughout the process. We had a 150-person wedding and the space felt perfect for that size. We recommend using The Bardot, or any of the Abbot Events spaces. They were awesome to work with and are beautiful spaces to get married in KC!

She made sure every detail was addressed. Our daughter's wedding ceremony was on the main floor and cocktail hour was on the rooftop while the main floor was being flipped for the reception. Will Higgins: From the moment I saw the renderings of what the Bardot was going to look like I knew it was exactly where I wanted to have our wedding. The staff at the Bardot has been incredible! We had to reschedule twice due to COVID and they were more than gracious to work with us to make sure we got the day we wanted. They worked with us so much to make sure that the full day was perfect including coordinating with our other vendors and making sure we had everything we needed to just enjoy the day. The venue was absolutely stunning, it made decorating it so easy because it almost needs nothing. We did our ceremony on the main floor, then cocktail hour down stairs while they flipped the main floor to the reception dinner and dance floor. Everything went so smoothly, the team was so polished and quick. The bartenders did a fantastic job keeping our guests happy. Booking the Bardot was the best decision we made for our wedding. 100% would recommend, I can't tell you how happy you will be that you booked this formal, intimate and comfortable space.

The planning process with Abbott Events staff was smooth and easy-going. Our representative from The Bardot pooled in our linens in with the venue rental, so it was just another item checked off that my husband and I didn’t have to worry about. The venue itself was impeccable. We had our wedding ceremony on the main floor, thereafter a cocktail hour in the basement as the staff flipped the room, and then the full reception back on the main floor. Again, The Bardot staff made it a breeze for us. The only thing I had to worry about on my wedding reception was which drink I wanted to have next! Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend The Bardot for weddings and events.

It's located in such cool Historic Area in Midtown Kansas City, and is elegant and offers the ambiance of an era gone by. So very cool. I think it's the perfect spot for a wedding of 150 guests or less. They've always been very professional and easy to work with, so I recommend Simpson House without reservation.

They have a beautifully manicured garden with fountains and benches and the house itself has antique wooden floors and windows. It really was an absolutely beautiful wedding a great place for any type of formal event. I wouldn't have more than 100 people here though. Because even though it is a big house with big grounds I think if we had had any more of than that it would have gotten really crowded. It was also hard to find parking. The parking lot just couldn't accommodate all of the guests so people are having to park on the street in which there were no parking signs. But other than that it really was beautiful highly recommend

There's also a walkway atoms the building that leads to a garden with benches and alcoves with features of statuary and water.

Danielle M. Young: A real hidden gem in Kansas City! Very convenient location off the Plaza, nearby hotels, The Southmoreland Inn, with plenty of parking. Charles made it really easy to tour the space several times both alone and with our wedding planner. The Simpson House isn't a huge interior venue, but the garden and covered porch gave us plenty of space for our wedding party and guests of roughly 85 for dinner outside and dancing, bar and food inside. There's a lovely bridal suite perfect for the special personal to dress and apply final touches. The main staircase made for a dream entrance for the bride. It was truly an intimate and magical evening! If you're looking a historic mansion with space for 50 (interior) to 100 (outside) people, absolutely take a tour. Charles made it all so easy.

Rachel Shepard: We scheduled a tour and time to discuss the possibility of having our wedding at this venue. We agreed on 10:30am on a Saturday morning after advising we were wiling to meet at their convenience and availability. We were not greeted by anyone, instead we were shocked to walk in and see that there was a ton of people setting up their own wedding and were not pleased that we were there in the way, which who would be? We walked around a bit trying to find Charles, the contact but couldn't find anyone. It was extremely uncomfortable considering they had an event literally being set up and we were 1000 percent in the way and it was not appreciated that we were there in the middle of their day. It was intrusive. I sent an email to which I got an immediate reply with an apology stating that they were in their office and didn't know we were there and to let him know if we wanted to come back. I immediately responded and said we were outside and would come back in, we walk back inside and for another five minutes were completely in the way of the family trying to set up their wedding and STILL weren't greeted, we walked around trying to find an office he said he was in but gave up because people were lifting chairs over our heads and rolling their eyes at us. I would not want someone viewing or intruding on my wedding day and the fact they couldn't be bothered to greet us 20 minutes after it was supposed to start and he knew we were there just left a bad first impression. A huge shame because it was a great location and looked beautiful. Super disappointed.

The bartenders included in our package were awesome and went above and beyond as they were willing to make all of our old fashioned's for our signature drink for our pup ("Otis Fashioned")! Leah Berg: I think 28 Event Space is the best value venue in downtown KC. I did extensive research on venues in downtown KC for my wedding, and no one could compete with 28 Event Space’s price for everything that is included. A few of the main selling points for me were that our rental included a DJ, party bus, bride/groom getting ready suite, overnight access, use of your own vendors, and the ability to bring your own alcohol. They are the only venue in downtown KC (to my knowledge) to offer all of this, and at an incredibly fair price.In addition to all of this, the venue itself is absolutely stunning. We went with The Station which has an elegant marble backdrop as the centerpiece of the room. Everything is so updated and modern, which is exactly what we were looking for in a venue. The managers Mackenzie and Taylor are also incredibly responsive which is a must for wedding planning. They gave me a number to text with any questions and they almost always responded within ours. We mainly worked with Taylor, and she was so flexible with all of our requests. I can’t recommend 28 Event Space enough.

Every step of the way Steve was punctual helpful, easy going, and made fantastic recommendations for local vendors. On the day of the wedding Steve was with us for pretty much everything, happily helping to help resolve any issues with decor, vendors or managing our family. The tables, chairs, and sound system were all top notch. We do recommend making a plan for parking depending on the time of your event.

Ashley Hunter: Steve (the owner) was so great to work with. He was quick to respond to my initial emails asking for details about the venue and all my questions throughout the planning process. He provided so many good tips and made us feel very relaxed about the wedding process. We visited the venue several times before the day of our wedding and Steve was great at answering our questions and helping to plan everything out. On the day of the wedding, he sent me a text letting me know everything was set up and ready to go and it was a relief. Our wedding was great and we got so many compliments on Cellar 222. It is so naturally beautiful so there wasn't much extra decorating for us to do. Overall, a beautiful and great venue. Such a great experience and I will continue to recommend to those looking for wedding venues.

Hanna Gore: We had a smaller wedding (50ish people) and this venue was everything we needed and more! Steve was great to work with and was super calm during the entire process. I toured the venue a few different times with friends and family and he was always so patient with me. The venue looked incredible for our actual wedding and they did a great job of flipping the space between the ceremony and reception. If you are looking for a laid back space that has incredible preferred vendors (catering, bar, and linens) look no further than Cellar 222.

Chad Bruton: We used Cellar 222 for our wedding reception in March of 2023. We hosted a cocktail style reception with a full bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and a 6 piece band for slightly over 150 guests. We had a lot of people in the space, yet it never seemed too crowded. The two floors allowed our guests to spread out and created some separation for those that wanted to dance the night away with the band upstairs (shout out to KC All-Stars) and those who wanted to spend the time talking in the more subdued downstairs. It was an amazing evening and we could not be happier with Cellar 222. Steve did a great job of supporting us and giving us advice along the way. The venue is beautiful and needs no decoration, although we added a few just make it extra special...including lots of candles! From the moment we walked through the space for our initial tour we knew it was the right spot for our event.Aside from the venue being turnkey ready some of the definite benefits of this venue is the flexibility you have to use outside vendors. We opted to use several of the preferred vendors that Steve provided us and they too were awesome to work with (shout out to Top Shelf Bartending, Dutzel Catering, and Sugar Beats Bake Shop). Additionally, as a gay couple we are always attuned to how welcoming the vendors we worked with seemed in the process. Not all businesses are as open minded as we would hope and it was import to us to work with people who are supportive of our tribe. From the start Steve was awesome to work with and it was definitely apparent he was a supportive ally. We honestly have not one concern, complaint, or issue and highly recommend Cellar 222! Cellar 222 is beautiful, affordance, flexible, and in a great location with lots of parking for guests. You will not be disappointed!

Katherine Forrister: Cellar 222 is an absolutely beautiful space. For our small wedding of only 15 guests, we wanted a venue that didn't feel cavernous, but was large and elegant enough to fit the special occasion. While this venue can hold a lot more people, its layout and Tuscan wine cellar decor made it feel cozy and intimate for our ceremony and reception. In fact, the furniture and decor along the walls are so beautiful that we didn't need to bring many decorations of our own, which was perfect since we were trying to keep our day as easy and low-stress as possible. The owner, Steve, is AMAZING. He is so kind and easygoing, and we knew the moment we met him and saw the venue that Cellar 222 was the way to go. He recommended great vendors that frequently work with the venue so the planning process was a breeze, but we also appreciated the flexibility of choosing our own bakery for the cake. Overall, I am SO glad that we chose Cellar 222 for our wedding. I felt so pretty coming down the staircase in my dress to walk down the aisle, and everyone loved the reception that followed and kept talking about how beautiful and unique the venue is. My husband and I are expecting a baby boy in the spring, and decided after many years together that we would, in fact, like to get married and throw together a wedding prior to the birth of our son. A quick Google search connected me with Steve and Cellar 222, and within a week of being engaged we secured the venue and got to planning. Steve was communicative and helpful throughout. His recommendations and preferred vendor list made the process easy and affordable. We had an intimate ceremony and dinner by the fireplace, followed by a larger party upstairs complete with DJ and open bar. We could never have imagined how well, beautiful, and FUN it would have turned out, and would not have been able to pull it off without Steve. Todd Hall: My wife and I stopped in for lunch this past Saturday at around 3:30pm. There were three other occupied tables in the restaurant. We were sat at a table that looked toward the bar. The server quickly came over and took our drink orders. As time passed and no drinks, we looked toward the bar and noticed that the bartender was on her phone, then switched to creating schedules for the following week, and then stopped to speak to other employees. In the meantime...no drinks. Embarrassed, the server came over and apologized, and said we'd have our order shortly. A few minutes later he showed up with our drinks (glass of wine and a beer) and apologized that the bartender did not provide a glass - he'd go back and get one. Now the bartender was on the house phone and was totally oblivious of servers & customers. Disgusted, my wife went over to the bar and picked up a glass from a stack of glasses and returned to the table. Immediately, the bartender shouted.. "Mam..you cant do that!" and literally ran out from behind the bar, grabbed a glass and said "This drink needs a specific glass!" and began to berate us (at volumn level 10) in front of customers and employees. My wife said "You're getting loud...getting loud" And the bartender screamed "Oh..I can get louder!!" After she left, the server, who was mortified, came over and apologized over and over again.He then went over to notify the manager of the situation and told us he did so. Never once did the manager acknowledge us, or address the issue. Needless to say, we made a point to speak with him before we left.We have been regular customers of this restaurant and were/are outright appauled at the gross unprofessionalism of both the bartender...and the Manager. We will not eat there again.

It's in the historic Rosedale neighborhood of Kansas City, it's an affordable and flexible space for weddings, corporate and special events. Vox Theatre is so flexible and can be turned into whatever you need it to be. It's such a cute place that can easily transform into whatever magical place you need it to be! You should book a tour with them.

Scott Guthrie: I've worked at the Vox Theatre as a server, wedding planner and venue coordinator for multiple weddings and a quinceañera. The space is fun and unpretentious with an easy to get to central location with great parking for guests and staff. Carolyn and Katelyn are easy to work with and always have great ideas and suggestions for making the day special and to be remembered! Most importantly I've noticed that everyone is having a great time!!

Gloria McIntosh: I had my wedding here last night and the new host of this venue was horrible. Latasha is her name. She kept making inappropriate comments to our guest, trying to tell our bridal party what they should and shouldn't wear. She told one of our guest couples that their interracial marriage was inappropriate.She was very overbearing and antagonizing.Even our vendors complained to us about her. Latasha is not a good person and our event was the first for her at this venue. She kept trying to redo our decorations after our decorator had them done and was upset that she didn't want to change our decor for what SHE wanted. She wanted to be in everybody's business but her own. At the end of the night as we were cleaning she started running her mouth again while our best man and maid of honor were talking, interrupting their conversation,and started a yelling match. Then tried to say that she didn't but she was literally juking and pushing trying to confront him after he walked out the door away from her. She should not be doing this type of work. I have sooo many other complaints that I will be taking to the owner as long as she is working there I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Let me add that she wrote a "to do" list on the back of our marriage license!! Smh*Edit to add To the owner, this review was made before we had our face to face. I did not add anything after and that was my oversight. Your venue does not reflect what happened to us. The person we dealt with did. I stand firm on her not working with anyone else. You however were an amazing person to meet and talk to. I appreciated that you gave us your time and listened to our concerns.
