Brian Dowding: My son and I have been coming here for years. When we first brought our son in for a trial class, we had been to 3 other places all who had multiple teachers who could barley keep a group of 5-7 year olds in line. Master Henrich not only was by himself for the entire class, but kept all the children focused and attentive. We knew right then this was the right place for our son.Master Henrich is an amazing teacher with patience, kindness, diligence, and a hard work ethic that he passes on to his students. Would recommend to beginners or advanced martial artists.

Bo Moreno: While there are many Tae Kwon Do schools, fewer and fewer seem to offer the traditional old school fundamentals, discipline and philosophy that go into a true martial artist. Not only does Master Henrich offer this, but he also teaches the confidence and self respect skills that are essential. It's is a school of serious physical training where arrogance has no place. It is family friendly with classes for students of all ages. Master Henrich also offers cardio kick classes. I would recommend Henrich's US Tae Know Do to anyone.

Kathryn Owens: My children and I take classes here and we love it. The instructors are top notch. The classes are fantastic. You get a great workout on top of learning martial arts skills and self defense. My son who has ADHD and ODD has made huge gains of self confidence and self control and earned his black belt with the instructors here. The skills learned here are ones that will help throughout life and I wish that I had started Taekwondo sooner. It’s a wonderful group of people and I recommend it to everyone!

Becky Hebblethwaite: I can't say enough GREAT things about this school, the instructors and the junior instructors. It is amazing what a confidence builder this has been for my daughter. She is more disciplined and has so much more pride in herself now. Mr and Mrs G have been wonderful at providing the kiddos an outlet with everything going on (so grateful for the zoom meetings when we couldn't come in). You can tell the passion they have for teaching and seeing the students grow, it's not just about ranking up in belts but that the kids know the material and earn it!

Xandria Paige: My daughter used to have confidence and healthy self esteem. Over the last couple of years she has been severely bullied and lost all self worth and confidence. The changes I am seeing in her since only a few classes is incredible. I see her confidence coming back and she is smiling and having fun! The instructors take personal care and time with these kids and it shows! The lessons being learned are invaluable and the self defense knowledge is a huge bonus! I can't wait to see where she takes her new skills and I am thrilled to see her opening back up and smiling again. 5 stars is not enough!

Shannon Shelton: If your looking for a great martial arts studio this is the one! My daughter has gained so much since going. She was so shy and had many issues with peers at school with bullying, her self confidence was kicked into the dirt but she has gained that back and has respect for herself and others! They teach her more than martial arts but life skills! Although it can be a fun environment for the students they are also stern and yet are still so personable with each and every one of them! I highly recommend Dragons Gate Family Martial Arts!

Wayne Geiger: Sensei Long is an amazing instructor. Not only is he a master at the art, he is a true teacher and wants the best for his students. My grandson is extremely introverted. Under Sensei Long he has learned confidence, self-esteem, respect, and how to stand up for himself. I saw this happen almost immediately. Sensei Long knows kids. He places a great amount of emphasis on teamwork and he is not afraid to lovingly discipline always with the goal of restoration. Sensei Long has worked with kids from various walks of life and all over the spectrum. He is not only training kids in Karate, he is training them in life. They learn how to listen, show respect, behave properly, and believe in themselves. I could not speak more highly of this program!

Ronald Howe: When it comes to a family oriented dojo, Longs Shotokan is the place to be. Mark is an awesome instructor and is great with kids. He has expertise in many facets of martial arts and has devoted many years to the development of students of all ages and interests. I've referred many friends over the years and have been impressed with their progress under Mark's tutelage.

1911wood: It’s my strongly held belief a man ought to have the ability to protect himself and his family. Not only that, it’s a man’s responsibility to teach their sons to embrace this concept and to teach them the skills they need to handle themselves. I found myself where my sons interests, didn’t necessarily intersect with mine. Luckily we came to know Mark Long and his excellent Black Belts such as Gerald Barnes. They had the words to inspire my sons to embrace the concepts I admire. Many of the admirable qualities I enjoy in my sons I credit to Longs Shotokan.I have eight grandchildren I hope they all spend quality time with Mark and his people.I give Long’s Shotokan five stars because that the most I’m allowed to give.

David McGonigle: Long's Shotokan Karate is a well structured program. Shotokan combines multiple aspects and styles of fighting. Here the different styles are broken up into multiple classes rather than everything combined. This allows students to have options on the styles they prefer, to take them all to earn their black belt in Shotokan, or to take the style they prefer best. The sensei's are all adults and are each individually specialized in their style. They have a team you can join to travel to tournaments and they continually bring home multiple trophies. I would recommend bringing your child here or joining yourself. They have students of all ages and even have a class for the younger kids.

Jennifer Kaiser: My family has been going to Long’s Shotokan Academy since January 2023. It has been life changing. Sensei Long has helped my kids show respect towards their peers and adults in their life. He has also helped us learn self defense. All of his classes are a workout while learning different skills. We love going to the dojo every class!!

Charles Hiersche: As a seasoned black belt that owns his own school on the Kansas side I can say that Pirates school is THE PREMIER place to train jiu jitsu in Missouri. Pirate is the only other black belt that I choose to seek out jiu jitsu opinions from- he is a phenomenal coach and sets the standard for his students.
