Becca Sherwood: My son started Karate at Akka Independence, on 40hwy over a year ago now. And it's been a really good experience for all of us! The best part about choosing Akka, is its instructors Mr. Burt, and Mr. Harris, alongside the other three (funny) instructors. They are always fun and loving alongside being straightforward when it's needed. We have become so accustomed to seeing all the kind people there, it feels like home away from home. And at times my husband and I will catch ourselves saying the Akka motto in our sentences, as It's become a part of us.And this is the good seed, the good word that they plant every day to all of us, setting there."To be our best and do our best with enthusiasm!"If you're looking for a boost of structure and smiles for your kiddos? Then come try it out!!!Hope to see you there!#Family vibe at the Dojo!

Pirata Jiu Jitsu: what do users think?
Jacob Kuhlman: Amazing place to train. Good people and good rolls
Charles Hiersche: As a seasoned black belt that owns his own school on the Kansas side I can say that Pirates school is THE PREMIER place to train jiu jitsu in Missouri. Pirate is the only other black belt that I choose to seek out jiu jitsu opinions from- he is a phenomenal coach and sets the standard for his students.
Michael Grapes: Great gym! Acknowledgeable instructions and friendly environment. Great for the beginner or a person with experience. If you don’t drop in and give this gym a try you will regret it.
Michael McElroy: Best grappling school in the area! Whether you’re looking for a family atmosphere, competition training, weight loss,or any other goal the staff at Pirata Jujitsu has you covered! Devin is second to none when it comes to technique.
David Hummel: Devin is an excellent coach with a legit jiu-jitsu pedigree. Knowing the material and mechanics of the sport is important, but learning that from a guy with a proven track record of dominance on the mats will take your game to the next level. If you are looking to extend yourself, Devin will bring the best out of you; pushing you to be better than you thought you could be.
JD Solinap: Really Dope atmosphere with great material being shared in the deepest depth from the Pirate himself. If you are interested with training with the Elite then this is the place to go. Be prepared for Jiujitsu at its finest! Thank you #PirataJiujitsu #TacTeam
MisterMister Mizzle: Devin (AKA pirate) has the best jiu-jitsu technique. It's so applicable that you find yourself using it immediately your very next roll. High level. Straight forward.
Nikki Rachelle: Amazing environment. Everyone has been super welcoming. My teenage son just recently started going here and Devin is such a great instructor. He takes time with each student to make sure they are getting things correct. The energy here is great. Best place in KC to learn Jiujitsu.
Jake ryan: Great place to learn and train!
Sam Redd: Devin is a knowledgeable instructor and also a dangerous competitor. He is called Pirata because he can only see out of one eye. I would recommend this school to anyone who is looking to start jiu jitsu or to anyone who is looking for a new BJJ gym.
Bianca Chasten: Come try it out, friendly atmosphere and some pretty awesome people
Jeremy brick: Top notch instruction with a family atmosphere. I really enjoy this gym.

It’s the gforce family, we are so glad we enrolled our daughter. My husband and my older brother both attended this school. She has grown in confidence and skill in a short period of time. She has been attending Gautreaux’s since October 2018 and has already received her blue belt and two 2nd place trophies from competition. This coach’s are very professional understanding and help your child Excel in more than just martial arts. They teach them respect for themselves and those around them. It’s the black belt attitude!!Thank you guys soo very much for everything you have done and that you continue to do each and everyday.
Joe Afu: My sister and I started here in 97-2006 I believe, I really enjoyed this place...learned so much, I miss it!! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn and grow in martial arts, it’s a real mental state then a physical side of things, I miss sparring...Hope to come visit when I’m in town for old time sake
Nick Maggio: A++++++ Great owners & employees!!!! Highly recommended!
Tessa Mall: My family loves Gautreaux Martial Arts Center! We received our Black Belts through them. They taught us so well that we opened a Taekwondo school in southern Missouri. We enjoyed every minute of it. My children loved competing in tournaments. They are so good with children, teens and adults. They teach respect, discipline, hard work and to always do your best.
Kord Campbell (Ripkord): An awesome place for all !!! A positive place with a good vibe 🤗
Jade Rea: I am so happy and impressed with Gautreaux's . My daughter has been going for a couple of months now and the way they work and teach the children is amazing.
Amanda Schaefer: Son has been attending for a number of years. Started as a Tiger. Now recommended black belt. Instructors are top notch and truly care about their students and preparing them to succeed in life.
chris wise: Wonderful family friendly place that does not just churn you through belts to get you bucks
Bobbi Timmons: I take her fitness class and would recommend it 100% to any age. If you have any areas that bother you, she can modify all excises to accommodate. Terry watches every person closely to make sure they are doing the exercise correctly to make sure you don't get hurt and to maximize the results.
E F: Mrs. G is awesome, and the front desk clerk (I forgot her name!) on Mon and Wed is equally awesome. They genuinely care about your kids and go above and beyond my expectations.
Cole Martin: Our family absolutely loves this school and everyone there. We got started with our oldest Daughter who has Down Syndrome. She began in their Rising Stars special needs program. After seeing how well she thrived, and our youngest begging to join as well. We decided to sign up as a family. We love doing this as a family and the owners/teachers Mr. and Mrs G, are amazing people.
Lori Moore: I originally started my extremely shy 4 year old at another school (behind Applebee's in Blue Springs) hoping to build her self confidence. The instructor there had no patience for her shyness. After 3 months of going she was still scared and struggling. We decided to look for a different schools and went to watch a class at Gautreaux's. The instructor, Mrs. G, recognized we were new and introduced herself right after the class. We started the next day and saw an immediate difference. Mrs. G is amazing with the kids and the classes are fun and age appropriate. My daughter is now thriving in taekwondo and is always excited to go to class. We LOVE Gautreaux's!

Jeong's Taekwondo Martial Arts: what do users think?
hoda tahani: Amazing place. Great master.
Ivy Peters: My five year old started last summer after telling me he wanted to learn how to fight. He’s a yellow belt now and is likely to move up to orange end of the year. He likes coming here and that’s ultimately what keeps us coming back. Master James and Instructor John are awesome. They make each kid feel seen.
Matthew Cheong: Master Jeong respects students and teachs more than Martial Arts.
Ishaan Home: My close friend learns here, and he always says that it's a lovely place where you can learn a lot. Would definitely check it out
mad mnky: Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
kiwi ichi: We started 2 kids in TKD under Master J and they really like it.
Emma Schmidt: I love coming here! The masters are amazing and give great tips to help the students improve! The masters teach great discipline and respect. Doing taekwondo here has changed my life and it’s because of Jeong’s Taekwondo Martial Arts. I definitely recommend this place to everybody!
Blahblahhehehhee XD: Very very very Friendly filled with only nice people and safe environment, truly an Amazing place
Jack Kennedy: Love this place and so do my kids! Would recommend to any parents out there who want their kids to release a little (or a a lot) of energy.
J Kinn: This is a wonderful Academy. Master Jeong and his staff are wonderful instructors and great with kids.
Rebecca Merry: Wonderful, family run establishment! Quality instruction from an award winning Grand Master. My kids seriously love taekwondo here!
Deepak Pathak: Master Kiho Jeong is a world champion. The discipline and the dedication he brings to his art is phenomenal. Both my Kids are his students at his studio in Overland Park. The only words that truly do justice to his dedication is the famous Sanskrit saying"Guru'r Bramha, Guru'r Vishu, Guru'r Devo Maheshwara".Meaning, the Guru is the Creator, the Guru manages the goings and the Guru is the destroyer all things obsolete.

Lee's Chinese Martial Arts Federation: what do users think?
Khufu Haki: This is a Grand Master Kung Fu teacher who has been teaching my Sun for about 7 years now. I can see the structure in his confidence, focused mindset, innerstanding of his purpose, and his fight skill level has improved
Michelle Huntington: My two boys (ages 10 and 12) and I love this place. The instructor is firm but dedicated to teaching and truly getting through to all his students no matter their age, ability, or mental makeup. He has strengthened the character and even the health of my sons and I would definitely recommend his classes to anyone interested in getting fit, growing in their personal discipline or just seeking to learn in a fun environment with likeminded people.
Khairi - idea videos for Everyone: Respect to all other forms .. this Grand Master has the energy that will Bless the children, youths, and adults .. He's very choosy about who he shares his Kung-fu style with to weed out negative energy .. more than just fighting or self defense, it's about a choice to be better
Casey Gilmer: This school is great! I always feel welcome at every class and have a deeper appreciation for this style. Sifu doesn't only teach you defense and attack techniques but the philosophy behind it. Your achievements are earned and he helps build confidence in being a leader. He also takes time to focus on each student and their well being.
Brandon Edgerson: It is rare that I write any reviews for any business. I have written under 5 in my life, so please understand I'm coming from a place when I say this school is simply amazing. Every time I come HOME to the school I smile and thank God for this place. It's such an honor to be surrounded by such amazing talent not only from Master Lee, but from the students as well. The learning environment here is simply amazing. There are no ego's or star pupils, just constant learning. Master Lee is a phenomenal martial arts instructor and a overall good person. He is no push over. You will work here. Master Lee truly has been a huge blessing in my life. He helped me to overcome some severe health challenges which has helped me to find balance in several unexpected ways as well. The skills taught here are very efficient and effective.
Ryan Anderson: It's been an incredible and humbling experience to train here. Master Lee is extremely competent and devoted to teaching his students correct principles not only for learning self-defense, but for a better life. I've grown as a martial artist and as a person. I'm grateful for his dedication to serving God and to our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love how God is central to the teaching of this inspiring martial art! Thank you, Master Lee!
Amber Crenshaw: This place is amazing! NOT a belt factory. What you get is what you truly earn. Hard work pays off. My son has learned so much from Master Lee as well as the other students. If you really want to learn true Kung-Fu, this is the place to be!
Daniel Dano: I signed up here after I had read his website stating he teaches “Wing Chun, Choy Li Fut, and Wing Chun Fut” I kept asking if he teaches Choy Li Fut because that is the art that I want to learn he keeps sweeping this under the rug. I feel I have wasted my time training here. And when I asked to cancel he said there is nothing he could do. Seek another school this is not it.
Tevin Lim: 2 years ago this master Lee managed to lie to me about his curriculum and tricked me into giving him my personal information. After finding out by actually attending only a few classes i decided to leave. I even read the contract saying i can leave within 30 days and i did after he agreed. After that the contract agency kept harassing to pay $2,000 dollars for only 5 classes, afterwards i consulted with a lawyer and even sent a letter explaining to the contract agency the contract is RECINDED and they still kept asking for money. Just be aware that master Lee will lie to you and ask you for your social security number and make the "real estate investor" excuse. He only cares about showing off his youngest black belt(nothing against his student) instead of teaching you what you paid for.
christopher church: Very insightful! Loves a walking fight challenge!
Shandalla Rumack: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Value
Lateefah Dixon: As I sit here at my 21 year old sons belt ceremony, I realize one that being a parent does not come with a "How to" guide. I'm still learning and I thank God for Master Lee and his teaching. Words cannot describe the feelings that I'm feeling knowing that my son who was misdiagnosed with ADHD as a very small child and placed on medication for years. I tried in school and club sports to help motivate and help discipline him. Never giving up on him I continued to push him. Only wanting to see him strive in whatever he does. He found this place and I can honestly say I see him coming into his own. I am very grateful for Master Lee and his ability to reach my son at a time when he really was trying to find his way. I will forever support this organization. While my children have all grown up, I look forward to putting my grandchildren right in here. We live, we learn, and we grow and do better!! If I had it to over I would have brought all three of my children here at age 3. Thank You Master Lee.
Tino Camacho: I Started my son at the age of 3 at a super expensive place in leawood ,ks. While yes, they did provide training, and there was a certain amount of incentive for obeying your parents, there was zero character building. There was no attempt at all to teach respectfullness, thoughtfulness, or compassion between the children. While master lee at the time only took kids 5 and older he was good enough to give my son the opportunity to show his focus and disipline and allowed him to be a part of his school. At times the class may seem a little unorganized he allows the kids to work it out, he lets them teach each other, and at times lead the class. Its all part of the character building process...Without character ,no amount of training will get you through a tough situation, whether it be a fight or life.....fast forward 3yrs later.... my son has placed in all the tournaments he has fought in, and won one of them. He has won both of his boxing matches, and is the most cosiderate, well behaved 6yr olds I have ever seen...Some of his students who had been bullied at school used what they learned to sucessfully defend themselves against agressors.... Defence is a priority in his school. So what the kids learn here has real life practical application. At the end of the day I am so glad i found Master Lee and am proud that we are a part of his family.
Renae P: Everyone is so welcoming and yet serious about their training! I love how all students are expected to be able to teach, but Master Lee still fights and practices also. Definitely an environment of learning and not competition! We plan on bringing our whole family here as our kids get older!
Sean Albillar: Been going here a few years now. What brought me to this school was that I was introduced to it as a place to heal and improve yourself. Yes, you will learn to fight, but Master Lee teaches far more than that. This school is built on mutual support and personal growth. Students are encouraged to help each other improve their skills over competition. Whether you want to be a great fighter, or simply need a low impact workout to stay in shape. Lee's Chinese Martial Arts has the classes, patience, and discipline to make it so.
lhillhou: I love this place! Even after moving I have still kept everything I have learned with me. The prices are reasonable and the instruction is easy to understand. I not only changed physically but also mentally. If there is one place that wants you to do well it is here. You will leave feeling more comfortable not only as a martial artist but as a person.
Matthew Kuba: This school will teach you gung fu.

Aplomb Martial Arts Prairie Village: what do users think?
Tom Wolford: i am so grateful for taking a free intro to Tai Chi class which got me to going to weekly group and private Tai Chi classes. Its has been a life changing experience for me. I have found new freedom of movement where its been painful and stuck for years. AMA in PV is a great place, clean and fun. My sensei is patient, extremely helpful and makes classes enjoyable and fun.
Bee Charintorn: A good place to build confidence in young kids! The fact that it is conveniently located in the mall setting is a plus for parent to do nails, groceries shopping, or haircut while waiting for the class to end.if you are looking for the serious self defense, this is not the place.
Chad Trease: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueSensei Emily is fantastic! We've seen such a confidence boost in our son since he's been a member, and he's always excited for each and every class. Fantastic dojo and people!
Keith Murray: Throughout quarantine, they've done an amazing job at adjusting classes to be over zoom or outside depending on students comfort levels. It's been wonderful.I've been working out here for a few years and it's a wonderful group of people. The instructors push you hard but are incredibly friendly and supportive, as are the other students. It's a great experience and I highly recommend it.The community is fantastic, from the instructors to students. Everyone is friendly and helps push each other to be better, but doesn't ever push anyone to do something they can't do. I can't do the splits, but I can slowly get more flexible, and that's the goal I feel everyone aiming for: a personal 'better' one workout at a time. It's just a fantastic community.
jennifer fink: USSD prairie village is amazing! My son has learned so much about balance, respect, strength and is overall a more confident kid in just 6 months. Also, he is so much stronger than he was 6 months ago! Sensei Emily is fantastic with kids: she shows them respect and in response the kids show her respect as well. We love kempo!
Robert Overton: Our daughter and son started here at 6 and 4. They have learned so much and they love going! The price is higher than some other places, but you get a lot for the money (classes, private lessons). And they love Sensei Emily!
Melissa Overton: My two children have been doing Kempo here for almost a year and they love it! I love the self control and perseverance they have gained. It's a great program and Sensei Emily is wonderful with my kids!
Leslie Boe: My son is really enjoying his classes and Sensei Emily is great with all the kids!
Scott Griswold: My seven year old enjoys practicing here and his ability to focus and concentrate in other areas of his life has improved as well. Highly recommend USSD-Prairie Village for high-energy children in need of an outlet. Sensei Emily and her associates are great with my sometimes challenging child :)
Carolina Salgado: My daughter has gone here for individual and group classes for a few months. She has learned a lot and enjoys the class. I am glad i enrolled her after being bullied . The instructors are very kind and patient teaching the techniques to the kids. I truly do recommend the classes it is very empowering for kids teen and adults.
Philip Wilson: My son started training at the PV location when he was six. He had a bully, low confidence and was not much into any young sports. He quickly took to his Sensei and to his training.Flash forward, he is turning 14 a month and I couldn’t imagine his growth without his training group. He has amazing strength, his focus is spot on and the ability to control his mood, the environment around him is nothing short of adult level.Starting I next month my youngest will take his place next to his brother and follow in his same class.I could not be prouder of the facility, staff and how much it improves little minds.Philip WilsonPV,KS
Melissa Horst: So thoughtful to all students, down to earth, willing to break down the fundamentals for the kids. I nanny a student and he looks forward to Thursday to come learn! Emily is awesome to Bobby! I recommend Kempo to everyone I know.
Amtrak America: Very fun to take lessons at especially with Sensei Karen.
Matt Paschang: Great place for our daughter's first experience with martial arts! We love our instructor and our daughter looks forward to every class!
Victor Tyler: I have been taking karate lessons in the USSD system for eight years. I have found it loads of fun and empowering. I am impressed with their system of teaching. Each class has interesting material. The teachers are inspiring. They are considerate of physical limitations. It is very effective exercise. I'm 55 years old. If you are even just slightly interested, I find it hard to imagine anyone regretting giving it a try.
Brent Egner: Tie Chi lessons have greatly improved my balance and coordination. The instructors are friendly and provide me with challenges to continue to improve my Tie Chi form.
Everything GB: My son has learned so much from the great instructors. They are very focused on the principles as well as safety of the students. Each class schedule is different which keeps the students attention and their interest. My son's self confidence is building as are his skills. His self control is also improving. RK
Alysha Jackson: Really appreciate the teachers and the class structure. This is a very positive environment for our son.
Two Shoemake: My son and I are big fans of USSD. We enjoy the family-like atmosphere and the friendly competition. It's a great workout. Not only are you physically challenged, but mentally as well. My son (4 years old) has had great improvement in strength, balance and attentiveness. We love USSD!
Ryan Felton: We have 3 little kids and they love going to USSD for Kempo. They're learning some great skills, having fun while exercising, and learning the discipline of martial arts. Their instructors are top notch! We purchased a family package, and I've been participating in their Cardio Kick Boxing classes and I've seen more results in the past 3 months from cardio kick boxing.
Carla Coleman: My son loves karate classes! It’s helps him feel confident and proud. It’s exercise for his body and brain.

Ko Martial Arts (KOMA): what do users think?
simon lee: This place is amazing!
June Sayali: We had an amazing experience at KOMA. My son started taking classes when he began elementary school and achieved to become a black belt within 18 months. Instructors were great at creating enthusiasm and encouragement on kids so they keep going even when they come across obstacles. We have moved to another state now but still miss our KOMA journey.
Rob Poettgen: I appreciate the focus KOMA places on developing kids in all aspects of their lives surrounded around an activity. The passion for the kids is evident when you have the chance to meet Bronson
Spikes: My son has been a KOMA member since the age of 8. Today he tested for his 3rd level back belt at 14. This has been the best thing we have done for him! Love everything about it!
Ryan Wiedmaier: A very good option for martial arts in the area.
Jason Bohn: Great staff a no program. Kids feel respected and challenged to be better versions of themselves. Love how they blend skills and character development and that one has to progress in both.
Kevin Cloud: We have been very happy with our experience at KOMA. Pleased to have my son as a student here.
Malanie Loonsfoot: Both our boys have been at KOMA for about three years. On the road to become a black belt they have also been taught how to show respect to everyone, how to be more confident, and how to be better leaders. They have utilized these skills in their everyday life and the changes in them both have been amazing. Especially in our son who is on the Spectrum. Other athletic endeavors weren’t an option and they have been amazing working with him.
Samara Nazir: KOMA does so much more than just teach students Tae Kwon Do. The instructors focus on teaching students confidence, disciple and hard work in a loving and nurturing environment. If you are looking for an after school activity, I highly recommend Tae Kwon Do at Ko Martial Arts!
Kathryn Pinto: Ko Martial Arts has provided an experience in unparalleled personal growth for our daughter. With a qualified staff composed of caring individuals who take a genuine interest in each student, KOMA provides a safe and diverse environment for students to shine. The thing we appreciate most about KOMA is the people. Great students, wonderful parents and classes available for children, teens and adults, we couldn't have asked for a better place for our daughter to spend her childhood. I love it that we see a big, bright smile on her face when she walks in and an even bigger smile when she walks out.
Chelsea Kenyon: We have been with KOMA since the summer. Their curriculum is progressive and positive, always focusing on building character and doing your best. We have two kids at very different skill levels and the KOMA staff does a fabulous job! The class schedule is very flexible and offers a lot of options for busy families. We are big fans of the KOMA program! Highly recommend!
Brian Thomas: I've known Master Ko (Bronson) for many years, trained under both him and his father. Bronson has one of the best schools in Kansas City. He truly cares about his students growth and well-being. If you get a chance, he also has an adult cross-fit class called "Koma-fit" and it's the BEST class in town!
Amy Kapsalis: We have had an absolutely wonderful experience at KOMA. Master Ko and his instructors take the time to get to really know each child and their strengths, areas they need work on and their interests. There is nothing quite like watching your child learn new things and work on them with such excitement and pride. We look forward to going and watching just as much as they look forward to their lessons three times a week. They'd go even more if they could! I can't say enough about KOMA and the wonderful people there. We definitely made the right choice!
Broadcastallie: KOMA has been hands down one of the best opportunities we have given our son. We do not live close to KOMA, but over and over we had friends that raved about the impact that the teachers and the classes have had on their kids. One class and we knew KOMA was something we had to be part of... regardless of the drive to get there. The KOMA culture and the values they emphasize are helping us to raise a respectful, determined child with grit and integrity. All of the instructors are talented and dedicated. We feel so lucky that a place like KOMA is in our community.
Jennifer Andersen: Best decision I've ever made for my high-functioning autistic daughter! She loves it and they do a great job teaching important life skills and respect. They do amazing things with all kinds of special needs kids.
Christina Steffens: I have two children that attend classes at KOMA and we love it! My oldest started when he was 3 and he is now a blackbelt. Everyone at KOMA pushed him along the way to do his best both in class as well as in life outside of class. We pass many other studios on our dive there that are closer, but we love everything about KOMA so much that we think it's worth the extra drive. Everyone demands respect, but they are patient, kind and respectful to everyone while they do it and throughout their teaching and interactions with students and parents. We love KOMA and can't imagine going anywhere else!
Tom Herhusky: KOMA is an amazing place. We have two daughters in their programs and love the Owner, Master Ko, and the staff. We feel that KOMA is preparing our daughters for much more than self-defense. We enrolled them just to work on their self-defense skills, but Master Ko and his team are teaching self-confidence, performing in front of a crowd, and persevering....all in a warm and positive environment. If you are new to Taekwando, or are looking to change studios, this is the best place in the Kansas City Metro Area.
Jennifer Andrews: My 12 year old daughter has been at KOMA for 1 year. The difference it has made in her self confidence is remarkable. She has always excelled at school but has not enjoyed team sports. At KOMA it is an all inclusive environment NOT exclusive. Master Ko and his team is about every student performing to the best of their ability. They accomodate students with special needs and promote individual success. We plan for Kayla to earn her black belt at KOMA. Also there are NO contracts, they want you to stay because you want to not because of a contract.
Tamara Lynam: I will never forget my husband and son coming home from my son's first class (8 years ago). My kindergarten aged son walked in awe-struck. I believe his comment was "They let people like me do this." ... and that was the beginning. Now almost the entire family is practicing TKD at Ko's. Ko's provides a positive and encouraging environment. TKD has provided a fun personal challenge that also helps to reduce stress! You must forget about everything and focus on the moment to be successful. It isn't easy.....But, few things in life worth doing are easy! Next April, My son will be testing for his 2nd degree black belt. In addition, my oldest daughter and myself will be testing for our 1st degree black belts. I love being able to share the black belt journey with my children!
Brandon Turner: My kids love it! It has been great for building character!
Katrina Morris: Last spring our six year old daughter had read a few books that piqued her interest in martial arts. I asked for references from colleagues at work and from other parents, and a handful of people had recommended Ko Martial Arts (KOMA). In April we scheduled a 1:1 intro Tae Kwon Do lesson with an instructor, and we were immediately hooked! Master Ko and the other instructors and staff are extremely professional, polite, and wonderful with kids (encouraging, positive, excellent role models, fun). Our daughter participates in class three weekday afternoons, and she's excited to start sparring lessons in November. This experience has given us opportunities to discuss resilience and the importance of practicing a skill in order to improve. Our daughter is really enjoying Tae Kwon Do, thanks to the great experience she's having at KOMA!

AmeriKick Martial Arts Overland Park: what do users think?
Alli Jordan: My son Ronan has been to about four classes so far, and he loves it. Thank you to Sensei Rodrigo (and everyone!) for doing a wonderful job leading the dragon classes. I’m so impressed by all of the amazing people running the karate classes. My shy guy is growing in confidence already.
Ashley Tezon: It’s evident every instructor at AmeriKick-Kansas takes a personal interest in each students’ development. Juliet thoroughly enjoys getting personal messages after class with positive feedback and constructive criticism to help further develop her form.
A Swetna: Our son (8yo) and daughter (4yo) just finished their first classes tonight. Even though it was a group class, I was VERY impressed with how they received individualized instruction. They made sure to go around the room to each student to encourage them throughout the entire class. They also made them feel very welcome and assured that they were introduced to the rest of the students. It was their first time in a martial arts class of any kind and we are so excited to be a part of AmeriKick! I highly recommend them!
Samantha Liggins: Our 4 1/2 year old just started at AmeriKick, and I can't say enough great things! He is quite shy, and the teachers have been so patient with him, and he's getting more comfortable with each class. Very excited for what's to come!
Gulnoza Khakimova: Amerikick is awesome! My son loves his karate classes. Each sensei is very kind and supportive. They teach kids respect, discipline and confidence.
Coral Millsap: We love Dragons class! Amerikick is always in touch & is sure to make you feel like family ! The personal videos from Sensei Cavan sure makes my little dragon ready to come back to class!
Sophia Sterner: Have had a great experience with AmeriKick at Overland Park. My son is learning discipline, setting personal goals, getting great exercise and having fun doing it. All of the teachers are wonderful and a pleasure to work with. He looks forward to his lessons and takes pride in what he is doing. Has also helped with his confidence. Easy to schedule/reschedule classes with an online platform and multiple class times (including Saturday) that accommodate my work schedule. Can’t say enough wonderful things about this place and the staff here.
CC Ellermann: I love Amerikick Overland Park! I have been doing Martial Arts here for 14 years! That being said their adult program always gives me an incredible work out where I am dripping with sweat and I am always learning something new :) I would not be the person I am today without Amerikick. I have learned so many lessons both for my physical and mental health! I can not say enough amazing things about it!!
Kiara Nissen: AmeriKick is the best! Everyone is so welcoming and the environment is so fun to be in. Sensei Parrish is so kind and an amazing teacher. Not only is sensei Parrish amazing, but so are all of the other teachers. Wouldn't want to go anywhere else!
Kate Haefele: I’ve been in the adult classes for close to a year. Not the most physically fit person out there but I’ve grown a lot from taking classes here! The instructors are supportive while also pushing you to do your best.
Jordan Perry: We started bringing my son here about 6 months ago. When we brought him in, he was a quiet, shy, almost scared of people kid. I remember how first day in class, we almost thought about not coming back because he just stood there while the other kids did what they were supposed to, and we were so scared for him.Needless to say, the best decision we ever made was to go back. It still amazes me that now he is the LOUDEST kid in the whole class. He talks to others, and participates in activities with others. That would have never been the case 6 months ago. He also talks to people in public, he says please and thank you and with little to no hesitation. The amount of confidence my son has gained here is insane.Sensei Xander, is a man who always has a smile on his face and displays empathy along with structure with his kid students. I would keep my son with him his whole life if we were able. His compassion and desire to develop these children is beyond apparent. He is one of the best Sensei you could ask for. You’re doing everything right, Xander! I’ll be sad when my son can’t learn under you anymore.Sensei Rodrigo is one of the funniest, most heart warming Sensei you could ever want for your child. His ability to control a room, while still showing the kids a fun and educational time is bar-none. He’s one of those where you click on the app and go “Oh yeah, he’s teaching that class!!”Sensei Henry shows his passion for children, while providing a strong structure and a great time. The way the kids(oh yeah - I’m talking about 3-4 year olds here) respond and repeat what he says and does is almost cosmic. I can barely get my son to do what I want at home, let alone be able to do that with 12-15 of them. These are traits you can’t teach. What a guy.Sensei Cavan always make sure the kiddos are included, stay on tasks and has an up beat attitude. No one feels left out while Sensei Cavan is in class, as he remembers everyone by name, making them all feel special and want to work harder to earn his approval (which he gives in colors!)If you are a parent who is on the fence about whether this would be a great fit or not, or whether your kid would thrive, look no further and question no more. This is the place you should take your children. (Hey, 30 day free trial, why not?) that was our thought and now we could never imagine taking our son away. It is the most fun he has twice a week, and the greatest people around. I do not share the honor of wearing a belt like my wife and son do, but watching my son be involved with Amerikick is the best time of my life, and I get to do it 2 times a week!
Megan Perry: Such a fun experience for the kids. Each sensei is very supportive and kind. Great place!
Alex Manis: I've been a member for several years and it is the greatest thing I've ever done. The senseis are amazing instructors, and most of them are world ranked. There dojos are clean and the senseis are some of the nicest people I've met.
Millie Hanger: Sensei Cavan and each and every Sensei working at Amerikick is amazing and unique, so there’s no chance of your child not bonding with at least one of the many many incredible instructors. I have nothing but great things to say about Amerikick. It’s truly like a second family and the skills and training (both physically and emotionally) set the bar so high. We love Amerikick ❤️❤️
Ashleigh Montgomery: My 13 year old loves this place, he gets excited about classes and loves to show us what he has learned! In the few months he has attended, I see the difference in his confidence... and we're loving it!!! I get video updates and emails from sensei often on his progress and kudos!!! Best decision ever to join Amerikick overland park!!
Brendan Derickson: This is such a great place to train and the people are incredible. I started here 19 years ago and it’s kept me coming back! The adult program is great for both beginners and people who have experience with other martial arts schools or styles. The classes are high energy and still provide a space to learn and grow even when you’ve been at it almost 2 decades! I’d recommend this school time and time again.
Mason Rogers: There is a lot to gain from practicing martial arts such as discipline, self confidence, and making better decisions in everyday life. I have been training at Amerikick for about 4 years now and this has been one of the best decisions I have made. The Sensei’s and students make up the best community to learn and grow as an individual. As such the programs are always improving and they allow YOU to give your input on what works and what doesn’t. In other disciplines and schools you may learn the techniques, but never understand the “why” when you do them. Here at Amerikick it is encouraged to ask questions if you don’t understand something which will then help you understand your Sensei, fellow students, and yourself. Above all, this is YOUR commitment to your journey so take it at your own pace and enjoy the road to becoming a black belt!.
Seth Haber (godlyman): This place is super awesome. The staff are very friendly and are always there to help me. The place is extremely sanitary all the time as well. Furthermore, their experience in the art of karate is unmatched. I’m so happy this place exists and highly recommend trying it out if you haven’t yet.
Masthansha s: I have a wonderful experience at AmeriKick. I have enrolled my daughter in the adult program. She likes it very much, she is always interested to go every time. I have observed significant changes after participating in a couple of clauses.Master Sensai and his awesome staff focus and spend time to teach the children and learn about their strengths. After each class, they share the kids progress, performance, appreciations and suggestions as where kids needs to be focused.I can't say enough about AmeriKick, they have a well designed program for all ages and its a wonderful place for learning martial arts.I absolutely made the right choice and even suggested it to my friends and neighbours too.
yosoycarlos photography: Great place for adults and kids. The anti bullying program is exceptional. My son enjoy every minute of his class.
Kings of Edom: I started with Amerikick about 3 months ago and the experience has been amazing! The sensei and staff are extremely helpful always a joy to be around. The classes always have a good variety of techniques and excercises and I actually look forward to working up a sweat each time. Joining Amerikick is one of the best decisions I have made to better my life both physically and mentally. I would highly recommend this dojo for anyone looking to have fun, learn and challenge themselves.

Gracie Humaita Jiu-Jitsu Kansas City - MMA Training - Judo - Wrestling: what do users think?
Super Nintentuk: Used to go here great teachers and builds up nice teamwork skills
Ellen Montgomery: My son is in the younger kids for Jiu-Jitsu… and I couldn’t be happier!!! Everyone is GREAT! My son is 5 and everyone has such patience to catch him up to speed! Carlos is amazing! My sons brags about his teacher all the time! He looks forward to it being Wednesday every single day! This place is so personable and very organized. You will not regret your decision on coming here! Amazing!!!
Zac Clark: I started training in September of 22. It's been about 7 months and the amount of balance and happiness I've derived from attending classes on a consistent basis was quite surprising. Feels like I've actually found a purpose in life. All the coaches are kind and intuitive and every student I've met has been a delight. I'm not gonna stop coming anytime soon and I strongly recommend GHKC for your combat sport ambitions. If you know you have grit and a non-quit mindset and you enjoy pushing yourself to new levels then this is the place for you.
Caleb Garbuio: I was visiting KC and the students and teachers went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and included. The training is excellent and helped me prepare for a tournament that weekend. Could not recommend more!
Rob Lowe: 1 Million Stars!! 2 Kids in the Kids Program, My Daughter Started about a month ago and loves it. My son has been coming for about 9 Months and just received his first stripe!!! This has become much more than a "sport" or "activity" for them to get into, it truly is a real family! I feel like I owe all the coaches, especially Coach Anthony and definitely Coach Carlos, the biggest Thank You possible for not only giving my kids confidence and skills for life but also life lessons that will last forever!!
Ryan Adams: Dropped in while visiting from out of town. Very friendly crew and great instruction. I definitely learned a thing or two and felt very welcome
Kord Guess: I’ve attended many different schools throughout the country for drop in classes and intro classes, and this one is the best i’ve been to. it’s chill, welcoming, and when i was going through financial problems i was always told “don’t worry just come to class”. they genuinely believe and teach that as long as you come to class not only will you get better you’ll improve your life outside the gym, and you’ll bring that back to the gym. Can’t wait to move back and get the kids back in. They don’t want your money, they need it to keep the business running, but they really want you to be a functioning member of the family.
Mark Crawford: They genuinely treat everyone like family. Large classes and the instructor still knows every child's name. Very accepting and will work with the kids and give a positive tough love feel which kids need. Can't say enough positive things about this school.
Cody Bratton: I’ve been training at GHKC for over a year now and love it. It has the best community where new white belts are supported and the instruction from black belts is outstanding, as is the teaching from brown, purple, and blue belts as well.I’ve made great friends and learned to love the journey. There’s lots of availability for classes in gi and no gi, and opportunities to roll after every session. The ownership is constantly renovating to improve the facility.GHKC is also very balanced between self-defense and competition philosophies. Everyone is welcome. Sign up for the onboarding if you’re new for a great intro to Jiu Jitsu. It’s the best stress management I’ve found, and well worth the investment.
Nate: We are in the program designed around younger kids and kids new to Jiu-Jitsu and we couldn’t be happier. They allow you to come in and experience some classes before you commit to ensure it’s the right place for your child. My son was so scared the first lesson and Sunny(one of the instructors) engaged him and got him on the mat and the next thing you know he’s all in. Carlos does a great job teaching the kids, he also is great with the newer students . It feels more like a community versus just a class. Very much like a community. I would recommend them to anyone and frankly I trust them with my children so that shows how good they really are.
Ryan Trinder: I travel to KC about twice a year, and when visiting I always catch a class at Gracie Humaita. Every class I attend, I am amazed at the teaching, the students, and the skill they all have. The white belts are learning techniques I've never covered at the bjj gym I attend in NYC.Excellent people here, willing to work with you on developing and improving your bjj skills. Go!
Mission Mike (Michael Kilmartin): So my wife and I travel a bunch for mission work, and I love to train as we go. That being said, I’ve probably visited over 200+ mma and bjj academies, and I had to stop and take a moment to shout out this academy! Gracie Humaita Kansas City is on another leve!! Professor Graeber is UNBELIEVABLE!! He is an INCREDIBLE instructor, and his passion for teaching is amazing! His students are super talented, and his level of detail on techniques makes it so easy to learn. And from the moment I walked in, he treated me like family. I cannot recommend this academy enough, and I cannot recommend visiting this place enough! Check them out for yourself! Whether brand new, or a veteran to the game, you WILL LEARN something new, while feeling right at home! :)
Brandon Jenkins: Great place to train whether you're looking for a home gym or you're traveling. 3 black belt instructors. Traditional yet up to date with the modern sport.
Vargas Lisa: Gracie Humaita has the most family atmosphere. Everyone is greeted with love when they enter and is instantly treated like family. Kids class is top notch. Carlos is disciplined for sure, but loves every kid individually and they love and respect him back. ❤ Highly recommend.
Jeremy Clark: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueGreat atmosphere, great instruction.
Brew 167: Positive:QualityEveryone I’ve encountered has been respectful and friendly. The instructors are thorough and knowledgeable at every training session. A wonderful community.
Anthony Caracci: Best in KC! Two children in the kids program and couldn’t be happier with our experience.
Aaron Drew: I had the pleasure of dropping in for a class while travelling to KC for work. Everyone was super welcoming. Carlos ran a great class with fun warmups, good drilling and solid techniques. I only had time to stick around for a couple of rolls, but the atmosphere was friendly and the top pressure was heavy (just how it should be!) Thanks guys and I can't wait to stop by next time I'm in town.
lizzy Carpenter: This is the best place in Kansas City for Jiu-Jitsu.
Jayne Zamora: Instructor really cares & you're treated like family.
Colton Crawford: I stopped by the gym over two years ago and just stopped in again today. Mike remembered me by name, and welcomed me back with open arms. Awesome laid-back atmosphere, very visitor-friendly. I can't wait until my next stop in KC!
