Then I took him the Robert Abbey lamp and it's flawless now with 3 dimming switches. I could not be happier and recommend Heidrick Allen for any lamp repairs you might need. He was very courteous and the the pricing was very affordable. I couldn't be happier.
Tara S: I just picked up my lamp from Rick Allen and I couldn't be happier! I have an antique, stand-up lamp that came down through my family. Only 1of the 4 bulbs has ever worked, and 10 years ago I was told it would be too expensive to repair. When I bought the lamp to Rick Allen he stated the repairs would be between 150 and 200 dollars. I asked if he would call me during the diagnosis of repairs if they exceeded 200; he agreed. Rick did call me, but he called asking very detailed questions only a Craftsman who takes pride in his work would have taken time to ask. The original cord was white, he said, he had to replace it and wondered if I wanted another color to match my carpet. I went with the white, the traditional, the original, so when Rick said he was going to replace the switch as well he said, "I'll use a brass switch, like the original, and scuff it up a bit so it looks old." In addition to these repairs he replaced the tubes that hold the lights for the 3-way switch. His replacement tubes look to have wax dripping from the lighted area and are a beautiful aesthetic addition! I love the soft lighting light bulbs Rick gave me for the now fully-working lamp Rick arranged contactless pick up, and when I asked about price the bill came in at less than $100. He had rewired and replaced nearly every working part on my ancient lamp. On my way out, I mentioned I had another 1970s lamp that flickered on and off when I use the switch on the cord. Rick gave me 2 remedies to try on my own before spending more money. You don't find many Craftsman/Businessmen like Rick Allen anymore. It was my privilege to have done business with him. I highly recommend Rick Allen of Heidrick-Allen Inc for your lighting repairs. He was working on a chandelier when I left! Great guy fantastic work!Sent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE device
Bill Bade: I've had many lamp repairs done over the years. Most of the repairs turned out fine, but some were overpriced and I experienced long delays. I recently found Heidrick-Allen as I needed 3 lamps repaired and his location was close to my house. All the lamps were repaired perfectly and at a very reasonable price. They were also completed earlier than I expected. You can tell Mr. Allen takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows. I will be bringing all my further repairs to him.
Robert McElwain: I went his home office and dropped off a Stiffel lamp to be rewired. I picked up the lamp about a week later and I could not be more satisfied. And the cost was extremely reasonable. Rick does excellent work. I'd highly recommend him. And he has a lot of lamps in his office.

Lynda Metsker: I had an oil burning lamp that had been originally my great grandfathers (in the 1800’s). In the very early 1900’s my grandfather wired this puppy up! A few weeks ago the lamp and I were reunited. It was in very rough condition. I got out the Brasso and gave it tons of elbow grease and spiffed up the lamp. The real mastery came from Mr. Allen! He rewired the lamp and so it could light up granddaughters room in yet another century. Due to Mr. Allen’s magic touch my granddaughter will have it for hers! Thank you thank you!

Initially he was quite honest, after seeing lamp, as to whether he would be able to repair. Not only was he able to repair, the charge was less than expected. Do Not hesitate to use him. You will be extremely happy with his ability, professionalism, and honesty. Customer service is alive and well at Hedrick Allen. Lamp turned out BEAUTIFUL!!!
Diane Porter: Hedrick Allen was a godsend. My mom has an antique wooden floor lamp that her parents had had before her, so it’s at least 50-60 years old. It needed a new socket, a new plug, and rewiring, and I was afraid we either wouldn’t be able to find someone to repair it or that it would cost an arm and a leg. But Mr. Allen fixed everything and it cost just $37. I find this remarkable. He clearly loves his work, and loves restoring things to the best they can be. Call him without reservation. You will be happy you did.

The light was not expensive and had no sentimental value but it fit just right in our bathroom and I really didn't want to replace it if we didn't have to. The woman who answered the phone took time to identify what we needed, even having us send a picture, and located the bulb even though there was a new version. When you walk into the store, it's like being in a magical setting because of all the different lighting fixtures around. What started as an errand turned into a very pleasant adventure!

snow job: Horrible customer service! They act all nice when they sell you something but if you need to call back because something doesn't work...YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN! Don't let them pull the wool over your eyes! They put in ALL THE LIGHTS and FANS in my new house and in less than 30 days one light fixture goes out and the masterbath fixture was VERY oversized (never mind the sales lady kept saying how beautiful it was and it would look great and according to the measurements they had our bathroom NEEDED a light this big). Oops...somehow she forgets to tell me that it is a special order and can't be returned. If I would of known that I wouldn't of bought it. I NEVER buy things that can't be returned. They had all the measurements and it definitely doesn't look right at all! Our master bath is all about a BIG light fixture - in an unattractive way. When friends came to see our house some laughed and others were more like oh, gosh...that's quite a BIG light fixture. What the sales lady didn't tell me is that the HUGE LIGHT WAS A SPECIAL ORDER AND COULD NOT BE RETURNED. Hmm...this is to the stores advantage not about taking care of a customer. So much for all the assurances while shopping that they will make sure everything is right. Not my fault as a buyer than they didn't tell me this before hand. In regards to the non working light fixture I was told they would charge me a service charge plus installment plus the cost of another fixture. I wasn't giving them any more of my money after hearing this. Of course they told me "so sorry"....which at this point the joke was on me. The owner talked really nasty to me when I asked how or why they don't have any customer service after the sell. They made a nice BIG sale on my whole house and this is not the way to treat customers. Hope other people have a significantly better experience than I did. Good Luck! and Buyer Beware!
Mary Claire Gustafson Brass: Best lighting has horrible customer service and follow through. I went to them in the summer to pick our lights for our town house (the builder recommended them). I had to call multiple times to get an appointment. Once I choose the lighting, it took the woman over two weeks to send me my order and put it in. She was very slow at replying to phone calls and emails. Whenever I called or responded with an email, she made it out that they were “so busy” and she’s working “so hard”. Eventually, a month later, our light order was placed minus our kitchen island lights. Everything else was installed before we moved in except those kitchen island lights. That was august. It is now November and the kitchen island lights have still not been delivered. Every time I call, I talk to a different worker on the phone who is confused, apologizes and says that they will call me back, but I haven’t heard anything in months. I do not recommend using this company.

Brandon Alexander: Bought kitchen appliances here, and every step of the process was painful and frustrating. We were notified of delivery times and they stood us up repeatedly. We would stay home to accept the delivery and NO ONE showed up or called. Each time, we made multiple attempts to speak with someone at the store only to be endlessly transferred, put on hold, and quite frequently hung up on. It was almost impossible to get in touch with someone willing to help.

I had to drive to the job 20 minutes each way FOUR times on my days off over a three week span. I was told that I would get a little reimbursement for my time and fuel but have been passed around and around when I call to speak with a manager. I would get put on hold until the phone stopped ringing. I will never shop at your lowes again and will tell everyone I can to not shop there as well. Your customer is non existent in store and over the phone.

The one star is only so I could warn you all to do your research carefully because they will not back their washer.

It is cleaner better organized than the other stores as wellI recently did a special order on interior stone and tile and was helped out by the manager. I have also returned a number of items and am impressed with how quickly they process it. Checkouts... again, are done properly and quickly, and call me crazy, almost cheerfully. Hard to imagine, but true. (they seem to have a younger and not so jaded crew)One quirk of the store to just look out for is the guards at the special order and bulk delivery gate entrance are very good at their job. When you exit, it feels like you are getting out on bond from a jail.
