Mark Smith: Solid Four Star. Highly Recommend.Pros:Staff - All show pride of ownership in working here. Management are friendly and professional.Maintenance - The facilities and property are all well-maintained.Location - Close to Truman library, restaurants in abundance, and safe neighborhood.Sleep - The bed and linens were so soft and high quality. I'd love to have those sheets at my house. Room was very quiet. Very little heard from hotel traffic or outdoors.Cons:Housekeeping - Although the bedding was fantastic. I could smell the previous occupants perfume/cologne on the comforter. Also, both the clock radio and TV remote were gross; and were ironically under a sign noting how cleanliness is their top priority. Sadly, I checked-in at night with limited staff, or I would've notified them of the issue. But, the next morning management were quick to address the issues.Yes, I would definitely recommend staying here, and would gladly be a return customer.Food & drinks: So-so. Although the eating are was well tended and cared for, the food itself was bland and fair at best. You may leave still feeling hungry.Noteworthy details: I have to stress again how great the staff is here. Chaney Connelly: Went with my 7 year old and husband. Although we live here, we just went for a week and was stayed for a change of scenery! Hotel atmosphere was nice and light. Last time I visited the decor was too heavy. Rooms were too dark and beds weren't so great. Haven't stayed in a room for a long time so I wasn't sure or the money, our suite was The pool was clean and a great distraction for bored children. Accomodations were nice. King size bed was fabulous. Clean. Staff was great.

DJ Hermen: The buzzkill fun police Bethany at the front desk screamed at us for having an “open container.” Instead of being polite and using appropriate customer service skills she decided to go the opposite direction. Claims that Independence MO has a law about having an alcoholic beverage in a lobby. If that’s the law/rule, fine, but we are likely from out of town since we’re at your hotel. Rudeness gets one star ratings and the next time we visit KC to see the Ambush play we’ll stay elsewhere. Lots of options, and Bethany lost your business.
Tony Suarez: The only reason this hotel didn't get 5 stars from me was because half the TV channels, including FOX, NBC, and CBS we're unavailable due to technical issues at the hotel with Dish Network equipment.Otherwise, the rooms were great. Matt Maguet: Never been to hotel room that was more dirty than this one. Upon arrival, garbage cans were full and there was make up on the bathroom towels. Couldn't shut the bathroom door all the way, didn't fit into the frame right. The top blanket on the bed was dirty with crumbs on it, went to take it off and there was dried vomit on the comforter (See the picture). They tried to cover it up with the top blanket. Overall felt like the room hadn't been touched since the last guest left. Not impressed.

Triggitty Gawd: If you dont show up by midnight they will cancel your reservation with no refund. Got screwed out of 120$ and had to drive all the way back to michigan with no sleep. Lady at front desk was nice, tried to call GM to fix the problem but the GM just fowarded her calls. I really liked myplace and have stayed at many across the country. Never again.

Chrissy Hennessey: I regret booking to this hotel based off a couple things. At 2am the people above us were very noisy, and the desk attendant took a while to ask them to quiet down. The bed wasn’t very comfy. And the smell of smoke filled the hotel. However, the other desk attendant Takila was awesome and so nice! Made good conversation and cared about our concerns. Elizabeth Arthur: Had one of my field guys stay here while doing some out of town work, first night power was cut to the entire building, and when it came back on, multiple cars had been broken into, including his and had items stolen. Called the cops, but couldn't do much since there was no security footage due to the "power outage." Second and third nights same thing except instead of the whole building just the security cameras and parking lot lights were cut. Do not stay here unless you want your car broken into.

Alayna Bryan: This hotel is dumb. The hotel was overbooked but did not call to let our person, who had reserved the rooms very prior to visiting, know that they only had one room available for them. They waited until the night of while we were out to a concert to call and tell us that we would only have one room. The service in this place is ridiculous. I heard in the lobby that one man had waited over an hour for his single suites to be cleaned out. They should have had that done very prior to the check in time at 3pm. Then when we returned from the concert they told us there was nothing they could do and that the manager would have to call the following day to maybe give a refund. I would not suggest this place.

jackson remacle: Maybe the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, we payed for 2 rooms, one for two days and one for one day cause my uncle got here a day before us. The day we got there the check in personal was extremely rude and snippy when we asked when are second room would be ready, That I was sitting in there game room which was unlocked they promptly kicked me out with no reason and were quite rude about it. Jim C: We have stayed at Candlewood at least 9 weekends in the last year. The location is great and rooms are clean. And staff is friendlyHowever,things are changing. I have noticed a turnover in staff and well as management.With our last stay I was charged twice for a third night reservation(1st was made through Priceline)Long story short...the hotel would not return my calls after speaking with the manager..who BTW messed up the reservation.I finally had to contact my credit card company and they got the charges reduced (as of now)BUT NOT completely taken off. Better than nothing I guess.We will never return to this hotel.

Cassie Griffin: I had to go down to the front desk several times to get items that should have been in my room including toilet paper and linens for the pullout bed. I was not able to get an extra pillow for my husband because "guests steal those and we do not have any extra at this time". The breakfast was not edible. The gravy was watery and had no flavor. The eggs were sitting in water and the sausage was basically cardboard. Save your money and stay somewhere else because this location is poorly managed apparently.

Google User: The toilet and showers are old and stained. The staff steals and will come in your room without permission.The internet doesnt work and they REFUSE to call someone to fix it. The entire second floor, the ethernet ports do not work. The wifi doesnt stay connected.The snacks in the pantry are disgustingly over priced. $3 for a $1.50 bag of chips.Housekeeping comes once a week and I'm not talking about the deepclean. Angie St John: Rooms were clean and comfortable. Met family for a mini vacation and had a great experience with all of the staff, especially Josh who was on the evening shift. We were able to meet downstairs to socialize and play board games with the kids and not have to cram 8 people into one of the rooms and possibly bother other guests. Mentoria Moments: I give them no rate! I’ve had my reservations for weeks I have even called to check on my reservation. I paid for it in cash upfront just to be told they do service the community around them because people have brought things and people that wasn’t supposed to. Heather Cearden: I had a terrible experience here, everyone else there is very nice, helpful, welcoming other than the only man that I have seen working at this store. He is VERY RUDE and disrespectful. I honestly feel bad for him because of his rude, disgusting, sad mentality. Why be in a profession that you hate? It sure did seem like he didn’t want to be there at all. Not one bit. Not to mention he is either on his phone watching something or eating when he’s checking you out and doesn’t care to make eye contact or talk to you. 2nd accouter and still rude. This made me not want to step foot in this store.

James Sanders: Last three times there they were out of my dog food. So I call to make sure and save the trip on gas. The phone rang at least 50 times on 3 attempts to call. So I called Dollar General they answered by the 3rd ring. So now I'm going there to buy the dog food and laundry soap there.

Crystal Bedwell: Employees expect you to leave wallet size satchels at the front desk, are extremely rude in telling you to do so, while she was playing on her phone ( if she was truly scared of customers stealing things, maybe she should get off her phone and pay attention to her surroundings)I've been coming to this location for 15 years, and I won't be back. I'm not a criminal and did nothing to deserve being treated as horrible as I was!If the staff is that scared of customers that have done, and said nothing suspicious, I no longer feel safe at that location .

Patricia Nunn: Purchased a Magnavox indoor antenna and tried to return it unopened with my receipt, however they said there are no returns on electronic or any other merchandise not even an exchange. Really nasty about it too. They told me the best thing I can do is try to sell it to someone that needs it. How stupid. How was I suppose to know there are no returns on electronics and any other merchandise it wasn’t on my receipt nor did anyone let me know. I am giving Family Dollar all of “1” Star. Better off to shop at Walmart cause Family Dollar is is trying to get over on you. Am seeking legal advice on this one.

Cherelle Cook: If I could give no stars that would be this store's rating. Besides me and my husband leaving and 4 other customers who left all waiting for a cashier. I walked all the isles, and rung the bell continously. The only person in the store not waiting was the lady who was sleep and snoring on the stocking cart by the electronics. Customers were asking if she was OK, I shook the cart and she didn't wake up. I don't appreciate my time being wasted. She needs to be FIRED if she was on duty 4/25/21 @ 3:30pm.

Joan Adams: Went in to shop there an there was a rude older gentleman running the register. He snapped at me when I asked question and simply walked off after handing me my receipt. He definitely is NOT a people person. They also have a confusing sign taped up near the register says something like "No, No, No cash back honey". Guess it was referring to no asking for cash back over the purchase cost. Really should clarify and sign could be more professional.

Jose: Rude cashier talks about people when they walk out talking about how their paying with food stamps and how they dress and how they smell they only treat people good when you go dress up nice like it ain’t no red carpet it a damn family dollar I felt bad for the person in front of me made me really uncomfortable the way they look at you at with bad vibe and some times it smell like straight w**d in there don’t recommend going hereYo man review don’t judge before talking about customer we don’t know what they been threw. The employee's are rude and their attitude shows that they don't want you here. This store is disgusting. Find a different store to shop at.

Vicki Levy: They aren't interested in having customers evidently. I parked right in front and a clerk cameto the door at 9:45 and locked the door. There were 3 different customers that also couldn't shop. The posted and usual closing time is 10:00. Poor customer service!!!

Jonathan Kedziora: Sadly it was terrible. I normally really enjoy that particular store. It WAS clean and organized. The employees WERE neat and friendly. But today was awful. There was opened product half eaten all over the store, boxes all over the floor, the employees looked gross... especially the employee behind the counter who was too busy counting her drawer before ringing herself up to help anyone else. That's not even getting to the facial piercings that did nothing but highlight the poor dental hygiene.
